Abstract: The construction project manager frequently encounters difficulties tracking the performance or migration of contractor workers on the construction site. Additionally, typical performance data collection methods are complex, costly, and time-consuming. Due to information loops, the construction industry’s ability to obtain data on time is hampered. As a result, the tracking strategy attracts researchers supporting the construction industry for a long time. The primary tracking system inventory will be introduced in this study as a powerful tool for decision-makers. The tracking systems demonstrate their value, particularly in the aftermath of the SARS-COV-2 pandemic. It appears as though the only option to track worker performance from site to office quickly is through automated tracking. Eventually, the new technology can help project stakeholders to measure the activity progress quickly and efficiently.

Title: Theoretical Understanding of Indoor/Outdoor Tracking Systems in the Construction Industry

Abstract: When high rise buildings exposed to high winds are located in low-to-moderate seismic areas, such as Mumbai, wind forces can dominate over seismic demand. Current code specifications cope with these two sets of actions individually, largely relying on the dominant action. A new design approach, based on structural performance, is hence suggested and desirable when facing the risk involved with both hazards.

In recent years, there has been a revived and growing interest in reconsidering and updating the standard specifications of the codes, introducing new analytical methods that are performance based. Adapting emerging methods, such as performance based design (PBD), will reliably forecast the behavior of the structure with an higher degree of reliability, risk assessment, safety and optimization.

The present work aims, first, to conduct a preliminary analysis to describe the dominant action between the wind and the earthquake, and then to find the required, relevant, ductility demand. Further, by using a FEM code (Midas Gen), the ductility from the actual structure is evaluated and compared to the preliminary study and, finally, the saving in terms of weight of reinforcement between the ductility detailing required for code standards and PBD is assessed.

Abstract: The worker’s time theft is lurking in the depths of the construction industry as an enemy. Adding more supervisors to construction sites may appear to be the obvious solution. They are left out of the more pressing matters because of non-essential and time-consuming tasks like ensuring every worker is where their timecard indicates they should be. Tracking solutions streamline back-office processes and can provide real-time site monitoring. The tracking technology of indoor construction activities can bring immediate awareness and corrective action for the project. Accordingly, this study selected hybrid Bluetooth low energy (BLE) with Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology as a tracking engine. Also, the study aims to add a layer to the 3D BIM model by visualizing the worker’s productivity. The process begins with an indoor tracking system powered by (BIM) technology, BLE, and ends with a friendly Client Early Warning System (CEWS) dashboard. The CEWS can show the percentage of completion of activity in the BIM model. Furthermore, the construction industry has been negatively impacted in various ways because of the COVID19 pandemic. The workers have had to adjust to social distancing requirements, adhere to the most recent sanitation and personal protective equipment policies, and adapt to technology to perform tasks remotely, if at all possible. In the event of a pandemic, the findings of this study will assist organizations in establishing safe working environments in which to complete their projects through an alert system in a friendly dashboard.

Title: DYNAMIC LABOR TRACKING SYSTEM IN CONSTRUCTION PROJECT USING BIM TECHNOLOGY

Abstract: The earliest is the traditional normal strength concrete which is composed of only four constituent materials, which are cement, water, fine and coarse aggregates. With a fast population growth and a higher demand for housing and infrastructure, accompanied by recent developments in civil engineering, such as high-rise buildings and long-span bridges, higher compressive strength concrete was needed. Concrete is a widely used construction material around the world, and its properties have been undergoing changes through technological advancement. Numerous types of concrete have been developed to enhance the different properties of concrete. So far, this development can be divided into four stages.  At the beginning, reducing the water-cement ratio was the easiest way to achieve the high compressive strength. Thereafter, the fifth ingredient, a water reducing agent or super plasticizer, was indispensable. However, sometimes the compressive strength was not as important as some other properties, such as low permeability, durability and workability. Thus, high performance concrete was proposed and widely studied at the end of the last century. Currently, high-performance concrete is used in massive volumes due to its technical and economic advantages. Such materials are characterized by improved mechanical and durability properties resulting from the use of chemical and mineral admixtures as well as specialized production processes. This paper reviews the incorporation of mineral admixtures in binary, ternary and quaternary blended mortars in concrete.
