Abstract: An Adaptive Weighted Median (AWM) Filter is proposed for improving the performance of median based filters. The proposed adaptive technique used to determine whether the pixel is corrupted or uncorrupted pixel. If it is a corrupted pixel, it will be replaced by the weighted median value. Due to this, the unwanted filtering of uncorrupted pixels is reduced. This can be avoiding unnecessary loss of detail. The experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms the other type of filters for Synthetic aperture radar ice images.

Abstract: Question answering is the most common technique to collect information from different sources. One such source which gave rise in recent internet technology is Community Question Answering (cQA). Earlier the cQA gave information only in textual format which is not very much informative for many questions posted by the user, however it is natural to extend text based question answering research to Multimedia Question Answering which gave importance for many reasons. First most video contents are indexed with metadata, second many questions are better explained with the help of non textual medium, third media contents especially videos are now used to convey many types of information. In this project a technique is proposed which enriches textual answers with appropriate media data. This technique consists of three components to enrich textual data: Answer medium selection, Query generation for multimedia search, Multimedia data selection and Presentation. The multimedia question answering complements text QA with whole QA paradigm i.e., image video along with text. This approach or technique automatically selects media information for appropriate textual answer questioned by users or community members. Here Question answering languages leverages advance media content, linguistic analysis, and domain knowledge to return precise answers to questions posted by community members.

Abstract: One fundamental issue in today’s Online Social Networks (OSNs) is to give users the ability to control the messages posted on their own private space to avoid that unwanted content is displayed. Up to now, OSNs provide little support to this requirement. To fill the gap, in this paper, we propose a system allowing OSN users to have a direct control on the messages posted on their walls. This is achieved through a flexible rule-based system, which allows users to customize the filtering criteria to be applied to their walls, and a Machine Learning-based soft classifier automatically labeling messages in support of content-based filtering.

Abstract: When using the visualize to compare algorithms, never forget that the visualize sorts only very small arrays. The effect of quadratic complexity (either a square number of moves or a square number of exchanges) is dramatic as the size of the array grows. For instance, dichotomic insertion, which is only marginally slower than quick sort on 100 items, becomes 10 times slower on 10000 items. We have investigated the complexity values researchers have obtained and observed that there is scope for fine tuning in present context. Strong evidence to that effect is also presented. We aim to provide a useful and comprehensive note to researcher about how complexity aspects of sorting algorithms can be best analyzed.

Abstract: Network traffic classification is a process of finding type of end user applications toward network planning and bandwidth management, diagnostic monitoring, traffic analysis, prediction and engineering, anomalous traffic detection and QoS provisioning. Today with the improvement in field of information security, traditional network traffic classification such as payload based and port based classification are useless. Supervised, unsupervised and semi-supervised are three machine learning algorithms suggested to tackle traditional techniques. In this paper a semi-supervised approach including clustering (EM clustering, DBSCAN and k-Means), mapping and J48 classification is proposed assuming random 20, 50 and 80 percent of NSL-KDD dataset as unlabeled class attributes. Weka 3.7.11 is used for this implementation and overall precision, recall and F-Measure are the metric of performance evaluation comparing the results with 100 percent labeled training dataset. The results showed that the overall recall, precision and F-Measure of 20 and 80 percent of unlabeled dataset are more than 95.6% and for 50 percent unknown traffic flows is 90.1%. This measurement for full labeled training dataset is 98.8%.

Abstract: The focus of the study was on the investigation of the availability of electronic business tools and the extent to which they are used by SMEs in Gweru. In Zimbabwe, an SME is described as enterprises with a maximum of not more than 100 permanent employees and SEDCO actually dropped the use of capital turnover base after the adoption of multi-currency due to valuation system (SEDCO 2011).The researchers used interviews and questionnaires to draw out information from the subjects. Contributors to the investigation were owners of SMEs and workers of those SMEs. Findings reveal that most of the SMEs in Zimbabwe are still in the infancy stage of electronic business adoption and have potential for growth as a result of electronic business use evidenced by their awareness of the benefits of electronic business tools in current use. The researchers concluded that SMEs are e-ready regardless of the slow uptake of electronic business.

Abstract: At the end of the 19th century, medical problem solving relied almost entirely on history taking and physical examination. The enormous advances in science and technology that have characterized the 20th century have so transformed the practice of clinical medicine that now, as we approach the next millennium, history taking and physical examination have increasingly given way to a practice of medicine dominated by the use of medical technology in particular, laboratory testing. There is every reason to believe that this trend will continue into the 21st century. Moreover, it will continue against a background of continuing advances in information technology and computer-based electronic communications advances that could revolutionize the provision of medical care through online dialogue among patients, data-bases, clinicians, pathologists, and other laboratory professionals. Abstract: The exponential growth of documents available in the World Wide Web makes it ever more difficult to discover relevant information on a specific topic. In this context, growing interest is emerging in focused crawling, a technique that dynamically browses the Internet by choosing directions that maximize the probability of discovering relevant pages, given a specific topic. Predicting the relevance of a document before seeing its contents (i.e., relying on the parent pages only) is one of the central problems in focused crawling because it can save significant bandwidth resources. This paper gives an overview of the various evaluating methods and technique that can be used for focused crawlers. The ultimate aim of these techniques is to predict the values of a discrete class attribute.

Abstract: User application has been developed with very rapid progress. Security vulnerabilities due to amendment of escape characters and comment characters with the actual keywords becomes predominant in the current IT environments. There are some malicious attacks which can deceive this SQL. To stop string literal escape characters injections, many techniques have been proposed but they require large code modification and/or large extra time overhead.

The work of this paper proposes a technique SQL Injection Protector for Authentication (SQLIPA) with the help of removal of SQL Query attribute Algorithm. In addition to the proposed technique we are trying to store the user credentials in the images and retrieve the same for validation. These images will be stored in BLOB format with Encrypted layer in the backend to hide the tuples used for storage. Validating the XML content with typed dataset will scrutinize the input data further.

Abstract: Ad-hoc network is a concept in computer communications, which means that users wanting to communicate with each other from a temporary network, without any form of centralized administration. Each node participating in the network acts both as host and router and must therefore be willing to forward packets for other nodes. For this purpose, a routing protocol is needed. Routing protocols in MANET such as OLSR-INRIA, DSR and ZRP finds out the path between a given sources destination node pair without considering the reliability of the links in the selected path. Some links in MANET are unreliable due to interference from transmissions from adjacent links, ambient noise system noise, jamming signals from intruder nodes all of which results in low throughput, packet delivery ratio, high jitter and end-to-end delay. In our work, we use Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) as a measure of the link reliability. We propose modified secure version of the of three protocols namely OLSR-INRIA, DSR & ZRP coined as SOLSR-INRIA , SDSR, & SZRP which takes into account the link SNR value as a measure of link reliability in addition to the other parameters as in the original method in the route discovery phase. QualNet network simulator have been extensively used  to evaluate the performance of our modified secure routing protocol over two different network scenarios consisting of 52 and 72 mobile nodes  respectively considering random waypoint (RWP) mobility model. The results indicate high throughput, high packet delivery ratio and low jitter and end-to-end delay in comparison to the original protocols which do not account for wireless links reliability.

Abstract: The technique of functional magnetic resonance imaging is rapidly moving from one of technical interest to wide clinical application. However, there are a number of questions regarding the method that need resolution. Some of these are investigated in this thesis. High resolution FMRI is demonstrated at 3.0 T, using an interleaved echo planar imaging technique to keep image distortion low. The optimum echo time to use in FMRI experiments is investigated using a multiple gradient echo sequence to obtain six images, each with a different echo time, from single free induction decay. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a technique which finds use in the neurosciences both as an anatomical and functional localization tool. The traditional uses of MRI for structural analysis, such as are commonly found in medicine, can be adapted to serve in place of histological studies for identifying areas of interest in the cortex. Functional MRI (FMRI) is a rapidly developing tangent of MRI which can be used alone or in tandem with classical electrophysiological experiments to investigate neural activity. Although developed intensely for clinical and scientific studies in human subjects, MRI and FMRI have been used increasingly in the non-human primate. This document contains work exemplifying the use of FMRI in both species and methods for pre- and post-surgical anatomical MRI in the non-human primate. The chance probability that an observer could match a photograph with its 3-D MR image was 1 in 40 (0.025), and we considered 4 successes out of 40 (4/40, 0.1) to indicate that a subject could iden- tify persons’ faces from their 3-D MR images.

Abstract: Express train transportation is becoming a major tool for carrying approximately one million passengers daily in China today. To provide broadband information services for train passengers, the greatest challenge is achieving a seamless handover solution to guarantee wireless service continuity. This motivates us to incorporate sensor technology into Radio over Fiber architecture to construct an Express Train Access Network (ETAN), where the deployed sensor network captures the train movement status, which can indicate the wireless signal strength. Since the train moves on a fixed rail with fixed direction, it is possible to form an intelligent handover decision system, in which a critical movement state can exactly trigger an optical switch unit in the central station to carry out the handover procedure. Theory analyses and simulation results demonstrate that the proposed architecture can perform handover within 22 ms at a train speed of 350 km/h, providing wireless services for users without disruption, even for a cell radius as small as 100 m.

Abstract: IEEE 802.16e, Mobile WiMAX is a wireless technology used to provide very high data rate over large areas to larger number of users where broadband is unavailable. It is  an attractive solution for providing high-speed internet access in a cost-effective way to people living in both sparsely populated rural areas as well as densely populated urban areas. This popularity is a result of the flexibility, low-cost and user mobility offered by the technology. This paper analyses  Mobile WiMAX performance for small, medium and large network scenarios under FTP, HTTP, VoIP and Video conferencing traffic with varied node mobility (0~90km/h) when handoff is enabled or disabled through extensive simulation experiments. In this paper we use OPNET Modeller 15.0 to simulate the performance of WiMAX.

Abstract: The advanced development in wireless sensor networks can be used in monitoring various parameters in agriculture. Due to uneven natural distribution of rain water it is very difficult for farmers to monitor and control the distribution of water to agriculture field in the whole farm or as per the requirement of the crop. There is no ideal irrigation method for all weather conditions, soil structure and variety of crops cultures. Farmers suffer large financial losses because of wrong prediction of weather and incorrect irrigation methods. In this context, with the evolution of miniaturized sensor devices coupled with wireless technologies, it is possible remotely monitor parameters such as moisture, temperature and humidity. It develop and implement a wireless sensor network connected to a central node using Wi-Fi, which in turn is connected to a Central Monitoring Station (CMS) through General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) or Global System for Mobile (GSM) technologies. The system also obtains Global Positioning System (GPS) parameters related to the field and sends them to a central monitoring station. The sensor motes have several external sensors namely leaf wetness, soil moisture, soil pH, atmospheric pressure sensors attached to it. Based on the value of soil moisture sensor the mote triggers the water sprinkler during the period of water scarcity. Once the field is sprinkled with adequate water, the water sprinkler is switched off. Hereby water can be conserved. Also the value of soil pH sensor is sent to the base station and in turn base station intimates the farmer about the soil pH via SMS using GSM modem This system is expected to help farmers in evaluating soil conditions and act accordingly.
