Abstract: Mining high utility item sets from transactional databases refers to finding the item sets with high profits. Here, the meaning of item sets utility is interestingness, importance, or profitability of an item to users. A large number of candidate item sets for high utility item sets degrades the mining performance in terms of execution time and space requirement. In this thesis, an algorithm, namely utility pattern growth (UP-Growth) is used for mining high utility item sets with a set of effective strategies for pruning candidate item sets. The information of high utility item sets is maintained in a tree-based data structure which is named as utility pattern tree (UP-Tree) such that candidate item sets can be generated efficiently with scanning the database. To facilitate the mining performance and avoid scanning original database repeatedly, a compact tree structure, named UP-Tree is used, to maintain the information of transactions and high utility item sets. EEGU (Enhanced Eliminating Global Unpromising items) and EEGNU (Enhanced Eliminating Global Node Utilities) strategies are applied to minimize the overestimated utilities stored in the nodes of global UP-Tree. By applying strategy EEGU (Enhanced Eliminating Global Unpromising items), the utilities of the nodes that are closer to the root of a global UP-Tree are further improved. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithms, especially UP-Tree with EEGU and EEGNU, reduce time complexity rate. It also outperform in the dynamic transaction dataset.

Abstract:  The certificate revocation is an important component to secure communication between wireless ad hoc networks. Certificate revocation is an important task of enlisting and removing the certificates of nodes who have been detected to launch attacks on the neighborhood.

In this paper, Introduce two types of Windows Protocol namely specific window protocol and straightforward window protocol of which the latter produces the best output with slight increased calculation overheard.

In monitoring-based intrusion detection, each node monitors the forwarding behavior of its neighboring nodes in mobile ad hoc networks and produces the actual false positives result nearly similar to the real time environment. To identify the distributed attack and insider attack.. A new incentive method to release and restore the legitimate nodes and to improve the number of available normal nodes in the network has been proposed.

Abstract: Internet has come up with the most revolutionary aspects in all formats of life. The same is true about students and academics as well. Google currently is the biggest search engine in the world with a great amount of data daily entering into its database. Many students prefer Google for searching different kinds of information. This current study takes into account students’ familiarity with the computer activities and their response to the Google search engine. The key methodology for this study was primary research. Distribution of the Questionnaires was the key mode of the Primary Research. The questionnaires were distributed among the students of IQRA University Islamabad Pakistan, FAST University Islamabad Pakistan, BAHRIA University Islamabad and Fauji Foundation University Islamabad Pakistan. The responses of the students were primarily analyzed with the help of the frequency analysis. The results included students’ favorable and unfavorable responses. The finding of the survey shows that students have moderate skills of using and manipulating the computer activities, browsing the websites. The findings also indicate that students do not have any skill of developing or designing any kind of webpage. The results indicate that students mostly prefer Google search engine for their Internet information search. They search through simple techniques over the Google search engine. Furthermore, students do not use the Google Advanced search option while searching through Google search engine.

Abstract: The term denial of service (DOS) refers to a form of attacking computer systems over a network. When this attack to be made at a large amount that is by using multiple computers, such an attack is called distributed denial of service (DDOS). The attack can be categorized as protocol based attacks, volume based attack and application layer attack. In this document it will be discuss Smurf attack (type of protocol based attack) that how it is undertaken by attacker and the techniques by which the user can protect its resources from this type of attack.

Abstract:  Multi floor staircase provides a crucial vertical route during emergency events in a high rise structure. Wireless communication along the staircase is important for public safety personnel to allow them responding consistent and relay important information or data. An understanding of signal wave attenuation along the staircase is necessary to allow better wireless network planning, especially in ad hoc cases. This paper presents empirical propagation model developed for path loss prediction along dog-leg staircase. The proposed model is based on measurement at 700 MHz in 2 measurement sites. The propagation model developed shows agreeable result when validated to an actual measurement in a different staircase. The variation of staircases layout, dimensions plus their surrounding environments demonstrate the robustness of the propagation model presented.

Abstract: In this paper, we present FoCUS (Forum Crawler under Supervision), a supervised web-scale forum crawler. The aim of FoCUS is to only probe relevant forum content from the web with minimal overhead. Forum threads contain information content that is the target of forum crawlers. Although forums have different layouts or styles and are powered by different forum software packages, they always have similar implicit navigation paths connected by specific URL types to lead users from entry pages to thread pages. Based on this observation, we reduce the web forum crawling problem to a URL type recognition troubles and show how to learn accurate and effective regular expression patterns of implicit steering paths from an automatically created training set using aggregated results from weak page type classifiers. Robust page type classifiers can be trained from as few as 5 annotated forums and applied to a large set of unseen forums. Our test results show that FoCUS achieved over 98% effectiveness and 97% coverage on a large set of test forums powered by over 150 different forum software packages.

Abstract: Component-based software engineering (CBSE) and model-driven development (MDD) are two approaches for handling software development complexity. In essence, while CBSE focuses on the existing software modules called components; MDD promotes the usage of system models result with an implementation of the desired system. Even though they are different, MDD and CBSE are not mutually exclusive. The main goal of this thesis is to summarize the theoretical background of MDD and CBSE, and to propose and apply a systematic method for their comparison. Abstract: Ad hoc low power wireless networks are an exciting research direction in sensing and preventing the environment from hackers. This thesis explores resource depletion attacks at the routing protocol layer, which permanently disable networks by quickly draining node’s battery power. Carousel attack and Stretch attack are the possible scenarios occurred in this problem. The work proposes the concepts using Weight Based Synchronization, Future Peak Detection and Randomized Future Peak Detection algorithms where nodes are used to send updates to their neighbors. Weight based synchronization is used to maintain the cluster size. Future peak detection algorithm is used to calculate the average time of sending packets from source to destination with the help of relative time of their sender’s next transmission. This allows nodes to save battery power in network without missing updates from their neighbors.

Abstract: Multiple string pattern matching is one of the most important fundamental in solving string processing. This principle simultaneously searches for all patterns appeared in a large given text. A new algorithm to this problem called “IVL-MSPM” is presented. The new solution adapted the “inverted lists”(shown in [39]) for accommodating the collection of patterns. The experimental results showed that the proposed data structures were constructed faster and more economic on space than the well known data structures: Trie, Reverted-Trie, and Suffix tree. The searching results were faster than the traditional algorithms especially small number of patterns and small text sizes.

Abstract: With the growing need for Internet connectivity in rural areas, an alternative to the wired technology need to be used to provide Internet connectivity because of cost constraint. Wi-Fi can be a cost effective and efficient solution to provide Internet connectivity in rural areas. Wi-Fi based long distance networks with long distance outdoor links have become an attractive option to provide low cost internet connectivity to rural areas. The existing MAC protocol, CSMA/CA used by Wi-Fi has its coverage on comparatively smaller range and this aspect puts a hurdle in providing Internet, when it comes to rural areas. So, for practical applicability of Wi-Fi in long distance networks, modifications need to be made in the MAC protocol. As this protocol is originally not fit for long distance Wi-Fi networks, we have taken an initiative to tune certain parameters in this protocol and proposed two algorithms (Pre_BackOff algorithm, BackOff algorithm) to make it acceptable operable for long distance Networks.

Abstract: Recently images comprise a heavy part of future wireless data. Arising mobile devices and wireless sensors require algorithms that get along with the representation of the input data in a proper form for storage and transmission. One approach to diminish this problem is to eliminate redundant information from the transmitted images or frames data over the wireless channel through image compression techniques. However current software performance disregards the time and resources throughout compression and RF wireless transmission. Though, these efforts fall short of meeting real-time processing requirements.In this paper flexible hardware architecture of multi-level decomposition Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) has proposed for image compression application. This architecture of DWT decomposition is described and synthesized with VHDL based methodology. The design can be achieved on any targeting FPGA device with slight changes. It facilitates every size of image and any level of decomposition. In order to reduce computational complexities Haar wavelet has been used. The competed size utilization of this 2D DWT multilevel core can be used to counter severe hardware constraints of various wireless and mobile devices applications.

Abstract: Mammography is the best existing examination for the detection of early signs of breast cancer such as masses, calcifications, bilateral asymmetry and architectural distortion. In addition, mammograms are difficult to interpret, especially of cancer at their early stages. However, the presence of artifacts and noises can disturb the detection of breast cancer and reduce the rate of accuracy in the computer aided analysis (CAD). For this cause, pre-processing of mammogram images is very important in the process of breast cancer analysis because it could reduce the number of false positive. On the other hand, it could help radiologists to make a comparison between mammograms. The objective of this paper is to propose an algorithm of pre-processing on medio-lateral oblique-view (MLO) mammograms that involves two stages: the first is image enhancement of which the aim is to improve the interpretability or perception of information in images for human viewers, or to provide a better input for other automated image processing techniques. Eight techniques for the enhancement of overall mammograms inside the mini-MIAS database were implemented. The results were evaluated using Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR). The second stage is to extract the breast region from the rest of the image (background). For this purpose, a method based on automatic thresholding was used. Furthermore, the proposed pre-processing method was evaluated on 322 breast images collected from MIAS mini-database. The enhancement and extraction of the breast profile proved promising findings.
