Abstract: Internet congestion occurs when the aggregate demand for a resource exceeds the available capacity of the resource. At times of high congestion, the end user experiences not only very poor performance, long delays in data delivery, wasted resources due to lost or dropped packets but also congestion collapse in which all communication in the entire network ceases. The things that make the congestion problem more difficult, the architectural approaches for AQM and its variants along with new efficient mechanism Adaptive Enhanced Random Early Detection (AE-RED) were discussed.

Abstract: The present study was a descriptive survey which sought to assess the factors influencing University students’ perceptions and attitudes towards the use of Information Communication Technology (ICT). This study was conducted in the University for Development Studies (UDS). In determining this, a self-prepared instrument was used. Participants were 115 first year university students registered for the various programs in the Faculty of Integrated Development Studies (FIDS) and the School of Business and Law (SBL). Four research questions were and three hypotheses guided the study. The instrument for data collection was a 34 – item questionnaire developed by the researcher. The instrument was validated and internal consistency of 0.72 (72%) was calculated using Cronbach Alpha techniques. Independent samples t-test was also used to compare the various means. The findings indicated a positive relationship of students’ perception and attitudes towards ICT. Independent sample t-test was used to compare the means of Male and Female students, and FIDS and SBL students which shows difference in their mean scores. On the other hand, no statistically significant differences were established. Recommendations and suggestions for further research are also advanced.

Abstract: Applications of file sharing in MANET have attracted more and more attention in last few years. The efficiency of file querying affected by the distinctive properties of such networks including limited communication range, node mobility and resource An efficient method to alleviate this problem is to create file replicas using the network. While considering the efforts on file replication, the research has not focused on the global optimal replica creation with minimum average querying delay. Preferably, current file replication protocols in mobile ad hoc networks have two shortcomings. In this paper, we introduce a new concept of file replication, which considers node storage and meeting frequency respectively. We theoretically study the flow of resource allocation on the average querying delay and we derive a resource allocation rule for minimizing the average querying delay. After that we propose a distributed file replication protocol for realization of the proposed rule. Extensive trace-driven experiments with real traces and synthesized traces to show that our protocol can achieve shorter average querying delay at a lower cost than existing replication protocols.

Abstract: Cloud computing helps to share data and provide many resources to users. Users pay only for those resources as much they used. Cloud computing stores the data and distributed resources in the open environment. The amount of data storage increases quickly in open environment. So, load balancing is a main challenge in cloud environment. There are several heterogeneous nodes in a cloud computing system. Namely, each node has different capability to execute task; hence, only consider the CPU remaining of the node is not enough when a node is chosen to execute a task. Therefore, how to select an efficient node to execute a task is very important in a cloud computing. In this paper, we propose a new scheduling algorithm that choose a suitable node with its average task. It is very easy way to select an appropriate node. This approach can provide efficient utilization of computing resources and maintain the load balancing in cloud computing environment.

Abstract: The big-data refers to the large-scale distributed data processing applications which works on exceptionally large amounts of data. Google’s MapReduce and Apache’s Hadoop, its open-source implementation, are the software systems for big-data applications. An observation of the MapReduce framework is that the framework generates a large amount of intermediate data. MapReduce is unable to utilize such data so they are thrown after used. We propose Dache, a data-aware cache framework used for big-data applications. In Dache, tasks submit their intermediate results to the cache manager and queries the cache manager before executing the actual computing work. A novel cache description system and a cache request and reply protocol are designed.

Abstract: In this world of globalization where we need to transfer large amount of data across the internet that causes need of large amount of bandwidth as well data consumption. Our model reduces the data that is to be transferred which in turn reduces the required bandwidth and time to transfer data. Our model simplifies the basic process of mail sending by skipping the time and bandwidth consuming traditional steps of using browsers for authentication and thus can be used with slow internet connections. It comes with Innovative idea of combining all the e-mail service providers like gmail, hotmail, yahoo mail, etc for mail sending in a single Interface. It automatically compresses the file/folder which user wants to send, which decreases the size of the data to be sent. It also allows user to compress/decompress the data externally for his/her local machine’s files.

Abstract: In current scenario we present our approach regarding the implementation of new wireless security shaped with noisy symbols, using a software-development driven approach. Communication security is critical and increasingly challenging issue in wireless networks. We propose a multiple inter-symbol obfuscation (MIO) scheme, which utilizes a set of artificial noisy symbols (symbols key) to obfuscate the original data symbols in the physical layer. MIO can effectively enhance the wireless communications security. On the one hand, an eavesdropper, without knowing the artificial noisy symbols, cannot correctly decrypt the obfuscated symbols from the Eavesdropped packets. On the other hand, a legitimate receiver can easily check the integrity of the symbols key and then reject the fake packets from the received packets. The security analysis reveals that, without considering the initial key, the MIO scheme can achieve information-theoretic secrecy against the passive eavesdropping attack and computational secrecy against the fake packet injection attack.

Abstract: The explosive growth of internet in recent years led to tremendous increase in volume of data. Today this data is accessed more frequently and data processing needs have increased. Relational databases were not designed to deal with scaling and agility challenges, nor were they built to harness the benefits of high processing power and cheap storage available in recent times. Today in era of cloud computing many companies and organizations are shifting towards an alternative for legacy relational infrastructure used since early 1970s. Apache’s HBase, a NoSQL database is the perfect alternative for relational databases. The purpose of this paper is to identify the benefits of HBase and the motivating factors that drive organizations to choose HBase over relational databases. The paper provides a thorough technical background about traditional SQL databases and their limitations before proceeding to compare them with HBase. Finally it shows performance evaluation of HBase and various issues being addressed that are difficult to deal with if we use the relational model.

Abstract: Ayurveda uses herbal plants for the preparation of medicines. This particular science which is now only known to experts. In earlier times the knowledge was much more common. This project is to facilitate common user to learn about and identify herbs using mobile devices in android platform,   implementing image processing techniques. This shall also help experts in the ayurvedic field for collaborative learning and research.  As the information is becoming more and more accessible to people, trend has been to give people more and more tools and facilities to learn more about the surroundings. Today mobile applications like leaf snap, platifier etc. exist to give users capability to learn about a tree or a plant. The technology is missing for plants of Indian origin, in particular medicinal herbs used in Ayurveda. We envision developing algorithms built on image processing techniques to quickly identify the plant based on the image provided. It has great use for spreading awareness, educating, research, resource collection and bringing people together for further development in the field of Ayurveda.

Abstract: Topology is fundamentally used to ensure data quality and aid in data compilation. Most users care deeply about the integrity of their spatial feature dataset, while others are more concerned with optimum performance of analytical operations. Topology aids in analyzing spatial relationships in many situations such as dissolving the boundaries between adjacent polygons with the same attribute values or traversing along a network of the elements in a topology graph. This paper seeks to model how the geometry from a number of feature classes can be integrated and these is referring to as vertical integration of feature classes and also carry out topological operations on satellite imagery of University of Lagos depicted as points, lines and polygons. Spatial integrity of feature datasets was checked and analytical operations such as queries were performed.

Abstract: In this project, an improvement in the plain LSB based image steganography is proposed and implemented. The paper proposes the bit inversion technique to improve the stego image quality. Two schemes of the bit inversion techniques are analysed and implemented. In these techniques, Least significant bits of some pixels of host image are inverted if they appear with a particular pattern of some bits of the pixels. In this way, less number of pixels is modified in comparison to plain LSB method. So peak signal to noise ratio of stego image is improved. For correct de-steganography, the bit patterns for which LSBs were inverted needs to be stored within the stego image somewhere. The proposed bit inversion techniques produce very good improvement to LSB steganography. This steganography technique should be combined with other methods for further improvement in image steganography.

Abstract: This paper proposes a conceptual solution for appointment and scheduling management system among university's student and lecturer. Smart appointment and scheduling system designed to help the university to build the system for consultation service management among lecturers and students. The main objective of this project is to process appointment and scheduling system effectively and efficiently through an online system and replace the current manual process that will contribute in developing smart and future universities. With this project, the lecturers and the students can manage their time to meet and do the consultation. This conceptual paper introduces to improve the quality of the service in smart/future universities through innovative system that lead to the prosperity. This paper offers nine blocks of Business Model Canvas (BMC) framework and Literature Review (LR) as the methodology of this research. The finding of this paper shows that the new innovative appointment and scheduling system can help the university to build the characteristic and personalization of the student as well as the innovation system in the smart/future universities.

Abstract: There are many factors that correlated with students' academic performance. Some people believe that video game is one of the factors that affect students’ academic performance negatively. Thus, the purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between video games and student academic performance among male and female students of IIUM. A questionnaire was used to collect data about students' gaming frequency and students' academic performance. 30 students were selected randomly from each kulliyyah as the sample of the study. The result of the research indicated that there is no relationship between video games and students’ academic performance of IIUM University. From this findings, it can be concluded that being non-gamer does not guarantee a student to have high academic performance. In contrast, being frequent gamer also does not guarantee student to perform bad in academic. There are many factors that correlated with academic performance other than video games.

Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to enhancing the knowledge and the skills of rural school students by harnessing on capabilities of information and communication technology (ICT) via Islamic Transformation Centre (ITC). The important area focuses are mainly on the availability of information and communication technology tools to the rural schools in Malaysia. This will be in collaboration with the “whole-of-government” concept of information and communication technology (ICT) implementation across the schools in Malaysia mooted by Ministry of Education (MOE) and Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (MORARD) in understanding the plans and executions method to benefit the development of the rural schools in Malaysia. The paper is based on literature review, adopting the business model canvas (BMC) framework in building a conceptual solution for knowledge and skill development of the rural schools children. This paper explores the important collaboration of Quadruple Helix Model (QHM) in integration of Government, University, Industry and Citizen ICT infrastructure for education in rural schools, and the success rate of it.
