Abstract: Coffee consumption seems to be a trend among young people, school students and college students in Indonesia to provide them stimulation, enhance energy and reduce sleepiness before exam. Consuming coffee before going to bed can reduce or interfere with sleep by increasing sleep latency reducing sleep efficiency and reducing sleep duration due to the effects of caffeine. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between coffee consumption and sleep quality among medical students from 2016 batch in Udayana University. This analytic research with case control design was conducted using random sampling method. There are no significant difference between coffee consumption, age (p=0.080) and gender (p=0.171). Sleep quality was significantly associated with the type of coffee consumed (p=0.0001), time consumed (p=0.0001) and the number of coffee consumed in a week (p=0.021). Results show that there is a significant difference between coffee consumption and sleep quality (p=0.0001) with confidence interval 95% (Cl=1.75-3.73) so it can be concluded that there is a relationship between coffee consumption and sleep quality among medical students from 2016 batch in Udayana University.

Abstract: Pain in the lower back that affects productivity in work and activity is an understanding of Low Back Pain (LBP). This study aims to determine the factors associated with complaints of Low Back Pain (LBP) on truck drivers for the Java-Bali freight transportation at Gilimanuk Port. These factors include age, BMI, sports activity, driving duration, and work position. This research is a cross sectional analytic study with the purposive sampling method. The instrument used was a questionnaire with a sample of 38 respondents. Analysis of the data used in univariate and bivariate with the chi-square test. The results of this research are the age factor (p-value = 0.0001), BMI (p-value = 0.046), sports activities (p-value = 0.0001), and driving duration (p-value = 0.019) have a relationship with the occurrence LBP on a trans-Java-Bali freight truck driver in Gilimanuk port. While the work position factor (p-value = 0.501) does not correlate with the occurrence of LBP in the trans-Java-Bali freight truck driver at Gilimanuk Port.

Abstract: Stroke is a worldwide health problem and a major contributor to morbidity, mortality and disability in both developing and developed countries. It is the third commonest cause of death world- wide and the single largest cause of adult disability. The recognition of stroke symptoms by the public and activation of the Emergency Medical Services are the most important factors in initiating pre-hospital stroke. This study aimed to assess the knowledge regarding stroke among hypertensive patients who were attending clinic. A cross sectional descriptive study was conducted for one year among 269 hypertensive patients. After obtaining written consent, data were collected using a pre tested interviewer administered questionnaire. Frequencies, percentage and associations were calculated. Only 5.6 % hypertensive patients (n=15) had good knowledge, while many of them (n=151) 56.1% had adequate knowledge regarding stroke. The most common risk factors identified were hypertension (79.2%), hyperlipidemia (40.1%) and diabetes mellitus (37.9%). Sudden numbness (85.1%), weakness or paralysis of face, arms and limbs (67.3%) and trouble speaking (66.2%) were the commonly identified sign and symptoms and paralysis (92.2%) was the most identified complication. Regarding the immediate measures after stroke occurrence, 84.4% of the participants told that they will take the victim to the hospital. There was a significant association (p<0.05) between the knowledge of stroke and the following background characteristics; education, occupation, income, duration of hypertension and duration of hypertensive clinic follow up. Knowledge on stroke among the patients was satisfactory in many aspects and this study will pave a way to the prevention of stroke among hypertensive patients.

Abstract: Complementary Food is additional foods that are useful for supplementing breast milk. Mother's knowledge about complementary foods is very important, because it is very influential for children's growth and development. The purpose of this study is to prove whether there is a relationship between the level of maternal knowledge of complementary foods and the nutritional status of children.  Frequency of respondents mostly had the high knowledge about complementary foods (86%) and under nutrition of children aged 6-24 month (14%). This analytic observational research with cross-sectional design was conducted using consecutive sampling method. Chi square test results show the value of p = 0.005 with confidence interval 95% (CI= 0,11-3,89) so that it can be concluded that there is a relation between the level of maternal knowledge about complementary foods with the nutritional status of children aged 6-24 months. Risk for mothers with less of knowledge about nutrition to have children with under nutrition is 0,67 times.

Abstract: The current study aims to study the attitude of adolescence towards sports of 150 subjects(75 males and 75 females) between the age group of 14-16 years from five government schools of Amritsar. The tool used to study the attitude of adolescent toward physical education was Attitude scale for physical education by Dr. G.P. Thakur and Manju Thakur,1978 and Godin Leisure-time Exercise questionnaire by Godin and Shepherd,1985, Sallis et al. 1993. Results indicate that boys have more positive attitude towards physical education and girls have positive attitude towards leisure-time activities. The  objective of the study is the attitude of adolescence towards physical education and leisure-time exercises and the impact of gender on attitude towards physical education and leisure time exercises.

Abstract: Cervical cancer has become prevalent in this 21st century and women living with it must adopt coping strategies to remediate such conditions. The study sought to ascertain the relationship between religious coping and self-esteem of women living with cervical cancer in Ghana. The descriptive survey design through the quantitative approach was used in the study. Through stratified and simple random sampling procedures, a sample of 113 respondents were selected from a population of 160 women living cervical cancer. Brief RCOPE and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale were used to collect data for the study. The gathered data was analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics such as means, standard deviations, Pearson product Moment Correlation and MANOVA. The findings of the study revealed that women with cervical cancer has normal levels of self-esteem (Overall mean of 3.51 out of 4.0). In terms of religious coping, most of the respondents (76.6%) used positive religious coping. The result of the study also found a statistically significant but moderate relationship between religious coping and self-esteem (r = .53, p < .001) with 28% of the variance in self-esteem being explained by positive religious coping. The findings further revealed a statistically significant difference in the negative religious coping practices with respect to respondents’ religious background [F (2, 108) = 4.33, p = .015, with partial eta squared = .074]. However, for positive religious copying, the study revealed no statistically significant difference with respect to respondents’ religious background [F (2, 108) = 1.21, p = .304, partial eta squared = .022]. Recommendations were made on the need to place interest in religious coping and high self-esteem by stakeholders.

Abstract: Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) is a common complication of diabetes mellitus. It is the main factor attributed to the diabetic foot ulcer and the subsequent foot amputation. The current management for PAD includes the use of hyperbaric oxygen to improve the perfusion to the lower limbs. Negative pressure recently had been experimented as a new method to enhance the lower limb circulation, but only studied in healthy non diabetics. This research aimed to study the effects of applying intermittent negative pressure (INP) with a simple manual device to diabetic patients with PAD. A costumed plastic cast, designed to accommodate the foot and leg, was used to deliver the negative pressure to six patients with PAD. The process involved ten seconds of INP and five seconds as rest, and repeated for ten minutes daily for four weeks. The right lower limb was the test and the left was used as a control. The arterial flow magnitude was measured by a portable Doppler machine from the posterior tibial artery and dorsalis pedis artery. Five of the six patients, representing 83% of the patients, agreed that the Plastic cast improved their PAD associated symptoms; however, the mean difference of the Doppler vascular scoring between the test and control was insignificant, so it had been concluded that applying INP to the diabetic patients with PAD improved their symptoms.

Abstract: Every organ in the body works at a specified frequency and the respective organ gets into imbalance zone, once there is a change in its working frequency. Generally this imbalance is brought to balance, using Medicines which normally carry the required frequency to repair the organ and bring it to balance.  Other natural methods such as Aromatherapy, Colour therapy, Sound therapy etc., are also used by practitioners to supply the required frequency to the organ and bring it to balance. We have developed a Technique called ‘Frequency Embedded Crystal Ball Water Technology’, to infuse the required frequency to the imbalanced organ through ingestion of Frequency Embedded water, produced using our Technology.

Abstract: The direct observational audit was conducted during May 2018 to July 2018 in two departments of DHH, Dhenkanal (Labor room & OT) under LaQshya Improvement Cycle. It was observed that doctors scored less as compared to other staffs. After remedial measures were taken, it shows remarkable improvement as follows:

• Visible improvement in monthly average of OT from 55% to 66% as well as from 28% to 47% in Labor Room.
• OT staffs showed visible improvement from 50-60% to 57-65% as well as staff of Labor room.

Also the aim of the study was find out the gaps & taking further corrective measures for proper practice of hand hygiene methods which is one of the critical steps for improvement in IMEP.

Abstract: Acute appendicitis constitutes one of the most common surgical conditions, and the significance of uniquely related clinical entities in the diagnosis remains controversial. It is a disease of the children and young adults but covering all the age groups.  This study aims to ascertain the various lesions of the appendicectomy specimen in a tertiary hospital setting, northwestern of Cameroon.

METHOD: This retrospective cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted to do a critical appraisal on the histopathology reports of all appendectomy specimens submitted to the Pathology department, Central Laboratory of a Tertiary Hospital, Northwestern region of Cameroon from January 2011 to January 2016. Patient's socio-demographical data, clinical presentations were extracted from the request form. The data were analyzed using SPSS version 22, thereafter presented with descriptive and inferential statistics.

RESULTS: During the 5-year study period under review, an estimated 683 appendicectomy specimens were received, constituting about 12% of the overall total samples. The age of patients in this study is ranged between 14 and 78 years, with an overall interquartile median of 20.12 ± 5.12 years.  Histopathologically confirmed acute appendicitis was found in 86.9% of our cases, while other lesions constitute 13.1%, and negative appendectomy occurred in 4.5% of the cases.

CONCLUSION: The incidence of acute appendicitis remains low, especially in the rural communities of Africa. We, therefore, conclude that the current study spanned the entire gamut of pathological processes that involve the appendix and provides a fair idea about the clinicopathological correlation in appendectomy specimens.

Abstract: Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) continues to affect millions of population around the globe on yearly basis. TBI is responsible for about 50,000 deaths per year in United States of America. As per information from CDC (Centres for Disease Control), the total number of TBI-related emergency out –patient visits, In-patient admissions and mortality rates have increased in the decade 2001–2010. In US, according to recent CDC report, there is an economic impact of about 80 billion$ due to TBI. TBI can be actively classified into mild, moderate and severe based on GCS scale, permanent disability rate of 10%, 60% and 100% respectively and overall mortality rate of 20% to 30%. However, per person, the number of deaths related to TBIs has reduced during this same period , most likely because of  increased awareness, better hospital infrastructure and management guidelines and significant technological developments in current treatment modalities. Overall rates for TBIs are likely underreported , considering  percentage of TBIs  that out reach medical  attention .The highest rates of TBI is observe to be in age-group:(0-4y) (15-24 y)and (>65 y). The leading two important causes of TBI are falls and motor vehicle accidents. With an increase in number of TBIs, there seen to have a lower mortality rate due to above mentioned strategies, but have an increasing morbidity rate with respect to their TBI.

Abstract: Thoracic hernias are characterized through either protrusion of the thoracic contents out of their ordinary anatomical confines or extension of the abdominal contents inside the thorax. Thoracic hernias can be either congenital or acquired in etiology. They are able to arise at the level of the thoracic inlet, chest wall or diaphragm. Thoracic hernias can be symptomatic or fortuitously observed on imaging received for other indicators. Headaches of thoracic hernias include incarceration, trauma and strangulation with necrosis. More than one imaging modalities are available to evaluate thoracic hernias. Radiographs generally offer the first clue to the diagnosis. Higher gastrointestinal radiography can perceive bowel herniation and associated complications. CT and once in a while MR can be useful for further assessment of these abnormalities, appropriately figuring out the kind of hernia, its contents, associated complications, and offer a roadmap for surgical planning. In this article, we review the one-of-a-kind forms of thoracic hernias and the position of imaging within the assessment of these hernias.

Abstract: Encephalocraniocutaneous lipomatosis is a very rare neurocutaneous disorder. A 30 year old lady came to OPD presenting with small periocular papules, epibulbar choriostomas along with a lipomatous swelling in the frontotemporal area and a patchy alopecia on the scalp. On imaging of the brain it showed dilatation of the ventricle along with cerebral atrophy of the right side. It was finally diagnosed as a case of encephalocraniocutanous lipomatosis based o the Moog’s criteria.

Abstract: Obstetric fistula is a global reproductive menace that damages the lives of women in the less privilege societies, including Africa. Employing 9 participants, this qualitative descriptive study discovers the views of obstetric fistula patients, health workers and related healthcare government officials in Sokoto and Zamfara states, Nigeria, on the role played by social support from the significant others in encouraging ravaged women to partake in therapy. In view of the foregoing, a theme emerged ensuing from data analysis with Nvivo qualitative software, which is social support. This study made recommendations including, strengthening existing policies and creating new ones to increase participation in treatment, by implication addressing the problems of women with obstetric fistula, enlightening family and friends of the victims to do more to assist the victims, provision of the needed obstetrics healthcare services to women, stimulating social and gender equality to empower women and promoting girl-child education.

Abstract: The main purpose of this study was to assess the perceptions of students of the College of Health Sciences (CHS) Usmanu Danfodiyo University (UDUS) towards ward round and the influence of their perceptions on learning. The study utilized descriptive cross-sectional survey design and selected 214 students of 400 and 500 levels of Bachelor of Nursing Sciences (BNSc) and Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). This research used Structure questionnaire for data collection, which was divided into four sections based on the objectives of the study. The study used 139 respondents as sample, however only 124 questionnaires were properly filled and returned for further analysis. The result of the study shows that respondents have positive perceptions of the ward round as an effective learning implement. Specifically, the respondents concurred ward round has a positive impact on students’ performance.  However, some factors such as inadequate time, number of students concurrently learning at a given place, excessive caution due to fear of making mistakes or harming the patient negatively affect students’ participation in ward rounds. Consequently, the study recommends for the provision of skilled staff as tutors, use of sufficient time during ward round and use of few students at the same time who undertake to learn during the ward round.
