Abstract: Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to explore the underlying dimensions of Organizational Commitment.

Design/methodology/approach – Medical Practitioners (N = 119) working in hospitals completed this pilot survey on dimensions of their commitment to the hospitals and medical profession and the significance they place on certain organizational characteristics for their existing level of commitment. Principal component analyses of their personal and organizational characteristics were used.

Findings – Organizational Commitment was dependent on the employees fit to organization, human resource practices, supportive climate and ethics followed in organization. The commitment of medical practitioners is also dependent on opportunities for professional development programs in hospitals.

Research limitations/implications – Further extensive study is needed to be conducted in other Indian cities.

Practical implications – Knowledge of the dimensions that underlie organizational commitment in medical practitioners will help hospitals to introduce it, which will improve working of doctors and lead to better patient treatment and care.

Originality/value – Interpretation and results presented in this paper exhibits the pertinence of improving organizational commitment in the process of reducing turnover of medical practitioners and increasing their attachment to their workplace.

Abstract: To determine the level of knowledge on screening of cervical cancer.  To find out the attitude towards screening for pre – malignant lesions.  To know the practice of women on screening of cervical cancer.  To assess the knowledge of risk factors & preventive measures associated with carcinoma of cervix.  To create the awareness of cervical cancer and screening program in hospital. Methodology: Our study is a prospective and cross-sectional survey. It is done over a period of 6 months in women staff of a secondary care referral hospital in south India. The questionnaire survey was done by using validated questions to evaluate the KAP on cervical cancer screening & signs, symptoms, risk factors etc of cervical cancer. Results: Our results showed that most of the women staff was aware of the disease symptoms (33.33%), signs (46.55%), risk factors (56.33%) etc. But they does not aware of screening practices regarding cervical cancer (3.69%). Conclusion: Several barriers have been identified to have contributed to the low uptake of the screening like low-socio economic status, poor knowledge about cervical cancer, less availability of practices etc for cervical cancer. Abstract: The study aimed to describe the levels of accreditation statusand levels of performance in licensure examinations; and determine if accreditation is a predictor for success in licensure examinations. Seven state universities and colleges in Eastern Visayas that offered college degree programs with licensure examinations were included.The study employed documentary analysis and used frequency counts, means, percentages, standard deviations, F-Tests or analysis of variance (ANOVA), Scheffe’s Tests, and multiple regression analysis in determining the performance of the SUCs in licensure examinations; and the relationship between the accreditation levels and performance in licensure examinations. The levels of accreditation status, i.e. Level 0, I, II, and III, were considered along the ten areas, namely: Area I – Vision, Mission, Goals, and Objectives; Area II – Faculty; Area III – Curriculum and Instruction; Area IV – Students; Area V – Research and Development; Area VI – Extension and Community Involvement; Area VII – Library; Ara VIII – Physical Facilities; Area IX – Laboratories; and Area X – Administration. It was found out that SUCs with Level II accreditation status and offered Accountancy, Agricultural and Civil Engineering degree programs performed better in licensure examinations. SUCs with Levels I and 0 accreditation status and offered Electrical and Mechanical Engineering degree programs performed lower. SUCs with different levels of accreditation differ in their performance.It showed that the higher the level of accreditation status, the better the performance of students in licensure examinations. Thus in this case, accreditation becomes a predictor for success in licensure examinations. Abstract: Feeding experiment was conducted to determine the influence of dietary levels of metabolizable energy (ME) of 2900 and 3000 kcal/kg, crude protein (CP) of 20, 22 and 24 percent, and fishmeal (FM) of 0, 4 and 8 percent on the growth (Study 1), egg production (Study 2). The procedure experiments in a Completely Randomized Design were followed using 540 day-old Japanese quails. These were randomly assigned in each dietary preparation and three replications of 10 birds in each cage. The birds were fed with starter diet from 1 to 42 days old while layer diet was fed from 43 to 126 days old. Feed intake of the growing quails was enhanced by FM inclusion particularly in the diet with 2900 kcal ME/kg and 22 percent CP. Optimal feed conversion ratio (FCR) was noted in the 3000 kcal ME/kg, 24 percent CP and 4 percent FM, but only in 18 days old. Egg production rate was higher with 2900 than 3000 kcal ME/kg irrespectively of CP and FM levels. This was also translated in terms of lower feed conversion ratio. Optimal conversion of feed to egg and egg to weight was attained with 8 percent FM, irrespectively of ME and CP levels in the diet. The economic analysis in the Study 2 showed higher income over feed cost (IOFC) for diet with2900 than 3000 kcal ME/kg irrespective of CP and FM levels. Also, IOFC was higher in the 8 percent FM than 0 FM but comparable with 4 percent FM irrespective of ME and CP. Abstract: A pot culture experiment was conducted with various fruit nursery plants of guava, aonla, ber, mango and kinnow as test crops. The six number of treatments viz., T1 (Control), T2 (FYM @ 250 g/10 kg soil), T3 (Compost @ 200 g/10 kg of soil), T4 (Recommended N, P, K), T5 (Vermicompost @ 160 g / 10 kg soil), and T6 (PSB + NS nitrogen fixer @ 3 g/10 kg soil) were taken into consideration each treatment having three replications. The treatment effect was monitored in the rhizosphere soils of fruit nurseries at 30, 60, 90 and 120 days interval in terms of total number of bacterial and fungal populations, sulphatase enzyme activity, mineral sulphur and organic sulphur. The maximum bacterial population of the order of 63 cfu x10 5 was recorded with the treatment (T6) i.e. non-symbiotic N2 fixers + PSB at 90 days of plant growth. The sulphatase enzyme activity was found to increase from 30 days to 90 days and soils treated with Vermicompost (T5) exhibited maximum sulphatase enzyme activity.The maximum mineral sulphur content was found with the Vermicompost treatment (T5) and the organic sulphur content was observed to be higher with the Vermicompost (T5 ) and increased from 30 days to 120 days in all the treatments. Abstract: Exotic animals become increasingly popular in the Philippines. Some educators suggested that it offers a variety of opportunities for learning science. Relevant information was obtained from the immediate reaction of high school students, science teachers, school principals, parents, and exotic pet hobbyists. Numerous thematic insights emerged from individual interviews and focused group discussions. Generally, Science teachers, school principals, and exotic pet hobbyists are positive towards extending the fun and benefits exotic animals can bring into the classroom. Most parents and some students, however are doubtful about it and brought up various complications like fear, ethical and legal issues. Hobbyists and science teachers nonetheless, offered ways to convince them. This study was able to establish that integrating exotic animals into Philippine K-12 Science is possible as long as they are well understood by skeptical stakeholders. Abstract: Deforestation is experienced all over the world and every country has had fair problems associated to it. The issue of global warming, climate change, poor soil fertility and wildlife extinction are some of the problems experienced in all parts of the world as a result of deforestation.  

Perceptions of causes of deforestation vary depending on the causative agents. While people perceive population growth, hunger and poverty to be the root causes of deforestation, others also believe deforestation is caused by lack of alternative economic livelihood in the forest communities where the forest serves as a sole source of food, income and employment.

The study was conducted in Sissala West District of Ghana, to find out the perceptions of causes of deforestation in the district. The methods used for data collection were interviews, focus group discussion and key informant Interview. The findings of the research revealed that, population growth, high illiteracy rate, poverty, hunger and lack of alternative economic livelihoods were perceived as the underlying causes of deforestation in the district. It was also realised that the main economic activities of the indigenes were farming, hunting, charcoal burning, which result in destroying large areas of land because they do not take any measures to conserve the forest in search of their daily bread.

Among the recommendations suggested were enforcement of bye-laws, education on effects of deforestation, afforestation projects and agroforestry practice. Provision of vocational/technical training centres, access to credit facilities and provision of irrigation facilities for dry season gardening were seen as good interventions that could reduce the pressure on the forest land.

Abstract: Neuroticism is a fundamental personality trait in the study of psychology characterized by anxiety, fear, moodiness, worry, envy, frustration, jealousy, and loneliness. Individuals who score high on neuroticism are more likely than the average to experience such feelings as anxiety, anger, envy, guilt, and depressed mood. They respond more poorly to stressors, are more likely to interpret ordinary situations as threatening, and minor frustrations as hopelessly difficult. They are often self-conscious and shy, and they may have trouble controlling urges and delaying gratification. Main objective of this review is to diagnose Neuroticism aspects of people through hand analysis. Obtaining the handprints of the people with Neuroticism and also normal people and examine them. Examine was done considering three levels of hand involving (1) the major palmar creases, (2) the dermatoglyphics and (3) the pinky finger. The reported findings provide a deeper understanding of how the Big Five personality dimension Neuroticism can be recognized to manifest in the hand. It is essential that we learn to recognize early constitutional tendencies toward neurosis; we may be able to help these individuals before they develop a psychoneurotic personality and physical ailments which often accompany it. In conclusion I emphasize the fact that hand analysis can be used to identify psychological problems.

Abstract: The milk processing industry is a sunrise sector that has maintained a high growth profile in recent years. It has grown enormously and gained prominence over time. The highest share of the processed food is in the dairy sector, where 35 per cent of total produce is processed, of which just 15 per cent is processed by the organized sector. Enhancing disposable income, increasing urbanisation, development of organised food retail and changing consumption patterns have been the major key drivers in the growth of this industry in India. Keeping these views into consideration, our study aims at analysing and comparing the growth and performance of milk processing industry in the states of Gujarat and Punjab and examining the operational performance of GCMMF and MILKFED. The results emanating from our study indicate that the performance of Gujarat in the milk processing sector is far satisfactory than Punjab. Even if we look at the functioning of the cooperative federations operating in both the states, GCMMF outperforms MILKFED.

Abstract: Arbitration is a procedure that efficiently resolves disputes between parties. As alternative procedure, arbitration has begun to dominate globally in disputes between businesses. More complicated disputes and those with larger amounts, all over the world are solved by arbitration tribunals. While in economic terms, arbitration is the process of taking advantage of price differences in money, precious metals or stocks. If we assume that buying and selling is to be fulfilled at the same time, then the arbitrator is not responsible for any risk. Positive differences between the sales price and the purchase price, is the benefit of an arbitrator. During the study of literature research we did the evaluation of arbitration made in economic and legal terms. Making clarification of arbitration, the article will include possible differences and similarities in these two different areas, additionally its application in the international field.
