Abstract: Research has shown impact of Entrepreneurial Orientation on the venture performance. Pro-activeness being an important trait in Entrepreneurial Orientation is demonstrated in the actions and inactions of entrepreneurs. The present qualitative study of eight Indian SME (small and medium enterprise) cases examines how pro-activeness is translated in the strategic intents behind activities of highly successful entrepreneurs and how the activities of passive entrepreneurs are devoid of clear strategic intents. The research attempts to link entrepreneurial ambitions to entrepreneurial orientation and further to activities the entrepreneurs indulge in at certain time points of their enterprise evolution.

Abstract: Cassava is good source of carbohydrate and it can be major source of food specially where there is a shortage of food because of limited farm land, drought and high population like most of West and East Hararghe zones, Oromia region. Cassava has outstanding ecological adaptation, drought tolerant and successfully grown on marginal soils and gives high yield.  However, it is the most perishable and can deteriorate within few days after harvesting and as well need to reduce potential cassava toxicity. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine nutritional quality and hydrogen cyanide content of cassava varieties grown in East Hararghe Zone, Oromia, Ethiopia and to study consumer preference for the cassava based food products. The nutritional and hydrogen cyanide content of cassava were analyzed using standard procedures. Nutritional composition and hydrogen cyanide content were analysed using SAS software whereas sensory evaluation was analyzed by using R software. The moisture, ash, crude fiber, crude protein, crude protein, cyanide, carbohydrate, Ph, zinc, iron, and calcium contents of cassava varieties on wet basis ranged from 58.50 – 65.32 %, 2.21 – 3.06 %, 2.01 –2.51 %, 1.58 – 1.79 %, 0.87 – 1.21 %, 0.47 – 0.85 mg/100g, 26.44 – 32.53 %, 0.07 – 0.09 %, 0.20 % – 0.29 % and 0.62 – 0.99 % respectively. Consumer preference for cassava based food products showed that cookies and porridge prepared from 50 % and 20 % of cassava recipes respectively had better acceptance. While for the cassava based injera 30 % sorghum and 70 % of cassava recipe were preferred for Kello and Local varieties. Therefore, all cassava varieties had acceptable nutritional value and hydrogen cyanide contents. At least 20 % up to 70 % cassava flour substitute with other cereals can provide best acceptable for intended traditional food.

Abstract: The paper endeavours to reconstruct the various practises of the Darlong; in particular, pertaining to women in traditional Darlong family .Customary law was established and implemented as a mode of social control for the Darlong Community. Focusing on the Darlong women in the traditional family through ethnographic studies conducted on the tribe. Darlong society is a patriarchal and Patrilineal till today both in social and political space is still dominated by men. The Darlong women play a very important role in everyday life. The earlier traditions have now lost much relevance and have been forgotten. It endeavours to recollect and compose the traditional practices relating to marriage, divorce, separation, adultery and Bringing up of children in a traditional Darlong Community. This paper tries to analyse the role and status of Darlong women in the traditional family pre-Christianity in 1919.

Abstract: There is a lot of interest in autonomous movement and collective behavior of synthetic nanomaterials which have important applications in nanomedicine, nanobiotechnology and nanosensors. Present work using viable cultures and cell free extracts of Rhizobium sp. to produce and analyze swarms of monodisperse Au Nanoparticles (Au NPs) and polydisperse Au microparticles (Au MPs) was inspired by previously reported work on chemically triggered swarming of commercially available Au MPs. We developed a simple, glass slide based technique for rapid production, microscopic visualization, morphological analysis, study of swarming behavior and monitoring of effects of heat on Au NPs and Au MPs forms and assemblages. We designed cell based and cell free microbial system such as Rhizobium sp. to test the hypothesis that unidentified proteinaceous factors could be involved in producing simple monodisperse and complex polydisperse geometric forms of Au NPs and Au MPs. We used pure and wild type Rhizobium cell suspensions prepared from surface sterilized root nodules of Mimosa pudica. Cell free extracts from wild type and pure cultures were prepared by warming cell suspensions for 15, 30, and 45 sec. Cultures and extracts were separately mixed with HAuCl4 in equal proportions in each treatment on slides and monitored microscopically. For studying effect of heat slides were warmed for 15, 30, 45 seconds. Mixed, dense swarms of monodisperse Au NPs were obtained with polydisperse Au MPs using wild type and pure cultures as well as cell free extracts. Heat treatment yielded interesting forms and complex assemblages exhibiting fractal properties. We postulate that Rhizobium sp. specific unidentified cell bound heat responsive proteins may trigger monodisperse Au NPs swarms and simple and complex assemblages or acidic conditions may release amino acids from protein hydrolysis which may act as capping and linking agents. Some of these assemblages such as open and closed rings, interlocked rings are unique. Using our simple slide based technique a lot of scope exists for applying a combination of microbial cell free extracts and timed heat treatment to obtain defined monodisperse GNP swarms. This study showed the potential of fractal dimension analysis to study biotechnologically useful forms of Au NPs and polydisperse Au MPs.

Abstract: The present research was executed to elucidate the role of self –efficacy and learned optimism in happiness of university students. The sample consisted of 50 students studying post-graduate courses in a university. They were assessed by self-efficacy scale, learned optimism scale and happiness scale. The results of correlation coefficient indicated that all of the studied variables were positively significantly correlated with happiness. Also, the regression analysis showed that self -efficacy and learned optimism could predict happiness significantly. The implications and limitations of the research are discussed.

Abstract: The proliferation in automation and digitization of work have substantial impact in shaping the nature of career counselling, career development and career choices. With increasing change in occupations, more number of individuals are confronted with acquainting themselves with upcoming industries and occupations. Career experts play a significant role in assisting people to evaluate, obtain and infer these changes while helping them in appropriate career selection and planning. The career guidance and counselling is in its initial stages in India and the conventional manual method being employed proves to be inefficient and ineffective. Automation of career guidance and counselling process with the help of intelligent computer-aided solutions have considerable potential and will be of greater importance. Besides, simplifying task and saving effort as well as time, an automated solution has substantial capability to engage and reach, larger diverse group of people. In this paper, contemplation of numerous Artificial Intelligence (AI) based schemes offered in the field of career guidance and counselling has been performed. This paper begins with prominence of career guidance and counselling followed by scrutinizing the scope of various technologies in contributing a solution. Besides, extensive work performed in this field has been critically surveyed. Ultimately, the challenges and open problems were implications from the conducted survey. The paper identifies directions for potential research in this domain, hoping to drive attention of research community.

Abstract: Economic growth is not the only objective of policy-makers and policy-implementers of a nation. The development is not meant to increase the production of goods and services only, but to improve the quality of life of the backward section of the society. The real objective of this paper is to measure overall quality of life across occupations among the Tiwa tribe in Morigaon and Nagaon districts of Assam. This study is done on the basis of primary data collected randomly. Total 400 households are selected purposively and interviewed with the help of well structured questionnaire.  This study has used OLS regression to find out the main determinants of household level quality of life of Tiwa people of Assam. Human Development Index (HDI) dimension index formula is utilised in computing dimension indexes of household level quality of life index (HQLI). It is found that occupations such as salaried households and households with self-employed in non-agriculture have shown better index value of all dimensions of HQLI compared to occupations such as agriculture and casual labour work. It is concluded that for better quality of life, the concerned departments of the government along with local representative bodies should work harmoniously.

Title: Household Level Quality of Life among the Tiwa Tribe: A case study of Morigaon and Nagaon districts of Assam.

Abstract: There are 140.08 hectares (346 acres) of land. Farmers of the adjacent locality received leased of that land and cultivate sugarcane. Data collected from those farmers (5o farmers) during 02.02.14 to 30.03.14 from Rampur-rudra village . Farmers informed that stem borer (Chilo tumidicostalis), early shoot borer (Chilo infuscatellus), top shoot borer (Scirpophaga incertulus), root borer (Emmalocera depressela), termite (Odontotermies obsesus), mealy bug (Sacchariccous sacchari) and scale insect (Melanapis glomerata) were major pest, respectively; even after application of insecticides (Furadan 5G). Moreover, 77.27% farmers informed that they used only Furadan 5G for the control of all type of stem borers; 54.54% farmers informed that they used losburn for control of termite. But removal of stem borer infested plant parts and killing of early shoot borer larvae by removal of soil was followed 21% farmers. In addition, the highest 77.27% farmers were acknowledged that those received information from the ‘Sugarcane development assistance’ followed by ‘Center in charge (13.63%). Additionally, 814.82% farmers said that they cultivated Isd 37 sugarcane variety followed by Isd-21 (40.91% farmers), and Isd 26 (27.27% farmers). Furthermore, 63.63% farmers informed that those cultivated chili Capsicum annuum as relay crops followed by potato Solanum tuberosum 54.54% (farmers), tomato Solanum lycopersicum 18.18% (farmers) and cucumber Cucumis sativus 13.63% (farmers).Those farmers claimed that they suffered various problems for sugarcane cultivation such as lack of marketing facilities (late purchase of sugarcane by the sugarcane mill, when it reduced its weight due do dry) and stem borer insect infestation.

Abstract: Heteroopneustes fossilis species of airsac  catfish found in India,Bangladesh,Pakishtan,Nepal,Sri Lanka,Thailand and Myanmar.H.fossilis is found mainly in ponds,ditches,swamps and marshes,but sometimes occurs in muddy rivers.It can tolerate slightly blackish water.It is omnivourous.The study of different inducing agents techniques in the induced breeding of the air breathing fish, Heteropneustes fossilis. During the study two experiments were conducted in two different hatcheries of Gopalganj,District Bihar. In the experiment 1, pituitary gland extract (PGE) was administered at 6 mg/kg body weight of females and 2 mg/kg body weight of males. In contrast, ovaprim was administered at 0.3 ml/kg and 0.1 ml/kg body weight of females and males, respectively. On the other hand, in case of experiment 2, PGE was administered at the same rate as experiment 1 while ovaprim was administered at 0.5 ml/kg and 0.1 ml/kg body weight of females and males, respectively and human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) was injected at 1000 IU/kg body weight of both male and female fishes. Breeding success was found to be higher in ovaprim treated individuals in both the experiments in all aspects including latency period, ovulation rate, fertilization rate, hatching rate and incubation period compared to that of PGE and HCG induced individuals. In the ovaprim induced individuals, the latency period was within 10 hours while in PGE and HCG induced individuals, the latency period was 15 hours. In addition, the present investigation also revealed that, ovaprim is more efficient in terms of ovulation, fertilization and hatching rates when using at a rate of 0.5 ml/kg body weight of female fishes than using at a rate of 0.3 ml/kg body weight of female fishes. Results of the present study would help the hatchery managers in managing the induced breeding programs of Heteropneustes fossilis and other air breathing fishes.

Abstract: In this paper we propose a human emotion recognition system using Hidden Markov Model. Detection of heart rate and emotion of the face is quiet a challenging tasks. In this paper, we proposed the technique that perform recognize the specific facial emotion i.e. anxiety by utilizing Hidden Markov Model. Utilization of this proposed technique is to enhancing the monitoring framework in medical field, by analysis and rendering the patient face. The proposed HMM models performs well with the video as it processes the spatial and temporal regions of videos. The outcome of the project is the heart rate and reddishness scale. The more is the reddishness of face the more is changes that the person is speaking lie.

Abstract: Policing is dangerous work, and the danger lurks not on the streets alone. Law enforcement officials shall at all times fulfill the duty imposed on them by law, by serving the community and by protecting all persons against illegal acts, consistent with the high degree of responsibility required by their profession. Through various branches, the police play effective role in maintaining the rule of law and justice. The present investigation is an attempt to study Personality, Adjustment Behaviour and Emotional regulation of Recruit Police Constables. The sample consisted of 209 men police trainees from the police training camp at Malappuram District, Kerala. The study made use of the Scale of Type A behavior pattern (Asha, 1999) to assess the Type A and Type B personalities, Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale (Gratz & Roemer, 2004 ) to find out high and low level of Emotion Regulation and Mathew’s Maladjustment Inventory (Mathew, 1975) to assess the Adjustment Behaviour. Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation Coefficient were applied for analyzing the data. Result revealed that there is significant positive correlation between Type-A Behaviour Pattern and Maladjustment Behaviour, Type A Behaviour and Emotion Dis-regulation, and Emotion Dis-regulation and Maladjusted Behaviour at 0.01 significant level. That is., change in one variable make changes on the other one also in the same direction.

Abstract: Social Networking site is a strategy which engages students in interactive learning activities and supplementary materials as intervention through the use of computer technology and other gadgets to aid in improving the students’ performance. The researcher determined the effectiveness of social networking sites in the performance of grade eight Students at Risk of Dropping Out (SARDO).  A pre-experimental design was used in the conduct of the study. It also used purposive sampling technique in determining the subject of the study. One group of students with same character or alike who got the most number of absenteeism, tardiness, late submission of assignment and cutting classes were identified as SARDO. A 40-item test was administered during pretest- posttest focuses on the different learning competencies in the second quarter. It was found out that the pretest mathematics performance of grade eight SARDO was “did not meet the expectations” and the posttest was “fairly satisfactory”. Moreover, there was significant difference in the pretest and posttest mathematics performance. The posttest performance was significantly increases. It was concluded that that Social Networking Sites are effective interactive learning activities, supplementary materials and intervention in teaching mathematics eight to the SARDO.

Abstract: Land cover, defined as the assemblage of biotic and abiotic components on the Earth's surface, is one of the most crucial properties of the Earth system .Vegetation is a vital component of the natural environment. Terrestrial vegetation includes natural ecosystems, such as native forests and woodlands, shrub lands, grasslands and wetlands. Information on land cover is fundamental to many national/global applications including watershed management and agricultural productivity. Thus, the need to monitor land cover is derived from multiple intersecting drivers, including the physical climate, ecosystem health, and societal needs. Tropical forests have undergone rapid land cover changes especially in the last few decades. Terrestrial forest is one of the major factors in the global carbon balance, and therefore in global climate change. Change in forest cover may also have affected past climates on regional or sub-continental scales. Forest cover change accelerates the climate change and global warming. The present study analyses the Landcover change in the Peppara wildlife sanctuary for a period of forty years using GIS and Remote sensing techniques.
