Abstract: The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) identified  Bulabog Puti-an National Park (BPNP) as a Pilot Site among Protected Areas in Region VI for Eco-tourism Development.  It has no Comprehensive Site Development Plan that served as guide in the development of specific sites in the Park. Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U) embarked on preparing its comprehensive site development plan. This 3-year research cum extension project aimed to come up with a comprehensive site development plan for BPNP.  Data collection were done by actual zoning and survey, using transit and ground positioning system instruments, while, transect line method was used in terrestrial assessment. Focused group discussion and fedbacking were used in the analysis of data.  The site development plan consists of structures distributed within the periphery of the 300 hectares recreational zone. There is a guard house at the entrance, and nearby are the multi-purpose building, a souvenir shop, an activity/camping area. On the southern and northern sides of the compound are cottages, at the western side is the proposed swimming pool, while at the eastern side are the butterfly garden and viewing deck.  There is an access trail along the way from the compound to the caves up to the Mt. Puti-an. Other proposed features include cave protection, park mascot, miniature of the park, signages, entrance marquee and kiosks. With the collaborative efforts of all partners, ISAT U, DENR, and LGUs, BPNP is now in the list of the Department of Tourism as one of the tourist destinations in Western Visayas, Philippines.

Abstract: The Indian fast food market report 2015-2020 says that the CAGR of fast food chains will be 18% and it is expected to be valued $27.57 billion by 2020. One of the major here is the largest youth profile  up to 65% of the total population and  below 35 years old, trend of eating out, There are many foreign fast food chains in India like Mc Donald’s, Dominos, Subway, Pizza hut, Taco bell, etc. The major issue faced by these MNC’s are menu differentiation and menu creation, in India the taste and preferences changes from region to region because of that a standard menu cannot be used. Initial entrants  like Mc Donald’s had to do so much work on changing their menus, educating people, create a market and to create a supply chain network. The new players in Indian market has watched this and learned from it and adapted, which becomes their biggest advantage. The research was conducted to understand the taste and preference of consumers and their factors of preferences towards these foreign food giants. The data was collected from the primary sources and further analyses with systematic tools to study that how foreign food chains in India have created an impact on India consumers.

Abstract: The paper is an attempt to examine the feminist perspective in That Long Silence and The Dark Holds No Terror of Shashi Deshpande. Feminism as movement might have originated in the West but with the deterioration in the status of women in India and the subsequent efforts made during the freedom struggle to pave the way for equal status, there arises a need for feminist studies in India. So, feminists like Deshpande whose quest for identity and freedom in a patriarchal society has become dominant themes in literature, unfolds the problems of women in the Indian patriarchal society in a very positive way. Deshpande may not be a formal feminist in the strict sense of the word, but it can also be observed that feminism can mean different things to different people Though the male member in the family is prioritised in her two above mentioned select novels, however the solution to these is not violence to bring a change. As feminism has always meant independence of mind ,spirit and body, so in this context  the writer focuses on the educated  earning wife and her adjustment within the marriage system. Through her texts, it has been observed that the protagonists after attaining all types of rights, now struggles to adjust rather than to get free from the traditional world .They submit themselves to the tradition ,perhaps realizing the essence of the traditional ways at this transitional phase of society. Though economically independent, they are emotionally dependent on their husbands.

Abstract: The use of plants and animals in the ritual is an essential part of tribal religious practices. Tribal people make sacrifices to appease or to maintain favor with a deity. Sacrifices are also made to ward off sickness, sufferings, and afflictions. The Karbis are one of the significant tribe of Northeast India with a major concentration in the hills of Karbi Anglong districts of Assam (India). The Karbis made many sacrifices to the unseen and territorial deities and animal sacrifices are an inseparable part of Karbi ritual practice. Fowl is mainly preferred for sacrifice, and other animals include hen, pig, duck, and goat. Apart from animals, egg, rice, rice powder, leaves of Ocimum tenuiflorum (holy basil), Areca nut and leaf etc. are the essential elements of Karbi rituals. The present paper is an attempt to study the significance of the ritual of “Chinthong Arnam” performed by the Karbis. “Chinthong Arnam” is the protective deities of the Chinthong region/province and the ritual is popularly known as “Vo’lok ase” (lit. Ritual of the white fowl). The paper also attempts to find out the importance of plants and animals in the ritual performances of “Chinthong Arnam”. For the present study, the data were collected during the ritual performances of “Chinthong Arnam” at Rongsamphri, Longkiri Enghi village, under Lumbajong Development Block of Karbi Anglong district of Assam (India). The fieldwork was conducted during the 1^st week of January 2017. Observation and case-study methods were used for collecting the necessary information.

Abstract: Handloom has been a major economic activity after agriculture. It is an age old tradition of weaving beauty into the threads and converting them into masterpiece to be worn. But with time these culture has lost its face value due to number of reasons and gradually deteriorated the economic condition of the weavers. The present paper makes a brief review of the socio-economic condition of the handloom weavers, their problems and the challenges that they are facing in continuing the tradition. The study concludes with some suggestion that is derived from the review of the literatures in context to the handloom.

Abstract: Behavioral finance is a discipline that attempts to explain, how the cognitive errors (mental mistakes) and emotions of investors influence the decision making process. It focuses upon how investors interpret and act on information to make informed investment decisions. Investors do not always behave in a rational, predictable and an unbiased manner indicated by the quantitative models. Behavioral Finance places an emphasis upon investor behavior leading to various market anomalies. The main objective of the paper is to review the behavioral biases and analysis its effect on decision making process.

Abstract: Colonialism had no uniform method of intervention and form of exploitation. It is dynamic and the forms of intervention changed according to the needs and requirements of colonial state and according to the nature of the region conquered. Kasaragod, which was once become the southernmost taluk of colonial South Canara witnessed some effort of the colonial state to transform the agricultural landscape by establishing coconut research stations  for the scientific study of coconut cultivation. Kasaragod had a rich tradition of paddy cultivation which was cultivated in both low lying as well as in high land hills and hill slops in the name of ‘kumeri’ or shifting cultivation.. In the beginning of the 20th century the colonial state opened research stations on major  crops like coconut which satisfy colonial needs. 

Coconut is popularly known as “kalpa vriksha” which means the “Tree of Heaven”. There is not even a single part of the coconut palm which is to be considered as useless. There was a huge increase in the demand for coconut products in world market in the beginning of the 20th century. It was considered as a fruit tree like jack, mango etc. And hence, the extent of coconut was very less in this region. In order to increase the production of coconut, four research stations were opened in kasaragod based up on different soil properties. Irrigation is totally dependent on monsoon and the area had no irrigation projects. One of the initial aims of research was the possibility of raising coconut under dry system of cultivation. Coconut can be considered as a trend setter to the new agrarian order of Kerala economy which does not need regular care and labour and also indicate the shift from paddy based agrarian order to more market oriented commercial agriculture. The village and village life which once revolved around paddy and its manifold production activities had gradually wiped out from the region which also wiped out the age old tradition of mutual dependence and mutual co existence.

Abstract: Consumers’ awareness about the legislations holding the promise of consumer protection and the government departments specifically constituted to implement, the laws for the interest of the consumers is still in its infancy in our country. The important aspect of the study is to analyse the Consumers awareness about the legal systems protecting consumers in India. The objective of the present study is to study the awareness of the consumers about the legal system and to study the socio-economic factors influencing the awareness of legal system. Null hypothesis is used for this study. The data are collected from 300 consumers from all the parts of Kanyakumari district about the selected twenty consumer legislations. Out of 300 sample consumers, 194 are male and 106 are female. The level of awareness is found and classified as high, medium and low. Chi-square test is used to find out the relationship between the socio economic factors of the consumers and the awareness of legal system. It is found that from the 300 sample respondents’ 74 respondents belong to the category of low level of awareness of legal system, 86 respondents belong to the category of medium level of awareness of legal system, and 140 respondents belong to the category of high level of awareness of legal system. Consumers have positive relationship with the awareness of legal system are age, sex, educational status and place of birth.

Abstract: Fine blanking a press working operation which is used to manufacture the parts which needs precision. Special fixtures and specific features like die-clearance, location and dimension of V- ring, force applied on punch and V ring, in manufacturing influences the quality of product in fine blanking process. In this work, instead of providing V ring on blank holder alone, it is provided on blank holder, die and both. The behavior pattern of die-roll width and depth, shear and fracture zone are studied by the considering the parameters of locations of V ring indenter and its clearance for the purpose of analysis.

Abstract: This paper aims to compare the performance of fifteen Indian states in terms of measures of direct deprivation (captured by the Multidimensional Deprivation Index) and income deprivation (captured by the Head Count Ratio). Multidimensional Deprivation Index as a measure of poverty represents a more holistic approach that takes into consideration factors such as Education and Health as well the Standard of Living. This is a better measure of the actual deprivation (the lack of capability to utilize available resources) compared to other measures of Income Poverty. The paper also tries to study the relationship between the Multidimensional Deprivation Index and per capita State Domestic Product. The study finds that high rate of growth of per capita State Domestic Product is an insufficient condition for alleviating multidimensional poverty.

Abstract: MRI Imaging plays a very important part in brain tumor for diagnosis, analysis and treatment planning. It is valuable to specialist for detecting the earlier steps of brain tumor. Brain tumor detections are utilizing MRI images is a most difficult task, in view of the complicated structure of the brain. Brain tumor is an unusual advancement of cell of brain. MRI images proposed better contrast concern of various sensitive tissues of human body. MRI Image gives favored results over CT, Ultrasound, and X-beam. In this paper we propose image segmentation with k-means and fuzzy c-means algorithm. The experiment is performed utilizing MRI brain dataset. The evaluation result demonstrates that the fuzzy c-means algorithm go one better than k-means algorithm.

Abstract: The present study is an attempt to explore career decision-making of students with learning disabilities in relation to their career choice anxiety and self-determination (N=42 students with learning disabilities). The results show that for decidedness dimension of career decision making (N=42) the total sample represented low level of decidedness in Career decision-making. For indecision dimension the total sample represented high level of indecision in Career decision-making. It was found that the students with learning disabilities exhibited high level of career choice anxiety, exhibited average level of self determination in case of total sample. Decided group of students with learning disabilities represented low level of Decidedness in their Career decision-making. Decided group exhibited high level of Indecision in their Career decision-making, average level of Career choice anxiety, high level of Self determination. The tentative group represents low level of Decidedness and high level of indecision in their Career decision-making, high level of Career choice anxiety and average level of Self determination. Low level of Decidedness  and very high level of indecision was found in Career decision-making, high level of career choice anxiety and low level of self-determination among undecided group. The study has implications for the students with learning disabilities, parents, teachers, researchers and school counselors.

Abstract: The reversible data hiding (RDH) technique gains remarkable attention from research communities and academicians. A reversible data hiding as well as data scrambling methodology is proposed in this work. The RDH is also known as lossless or invertible data hiding. In this paper a novel hybrid method of data hiding, data scrambling and compression of image is proposed. Initially a color image is taken as input for data embedding and later converted into grayscale image. Discrete cosine transformation (DCT) for grayscale image compression and chaos encryption algorithm for scrambling the image are considered. Further, data has been embedded with the help of Least Significant Bit (LSB) insertion technique. This technique is one of the easiest ways to embed secret data in an image replacing the LSB of each sampling bit with binary information. The main advantage of this technique is that it allows for large secret information to be embedded. The whole methodology is implemented and tested in MATLAB. Different quality metrics such as PSNR, SSIM and MSE are computed for various test images. The obtained results are reasonable and acceptable.
