Abstract: English is global lingua franca. It is critically relevant for teaching of different specialties besides English being a branch of study itself. Knowing and using medical terminology in English by medical and para- medical staff is of high value. Specific terminology in certain branches of medicine needs prior knowledge in order to do medical jobs and practices in professional manner. For instance, urology or nephrology in particular, needs specific of the terms and their contextual meaning according to its structure, roots and derivation patters etc. Application of the concerned knowledge about linguistic basis of certain terms allows the practitioners to develop required skills in practical usage of English medical terminology and enhance professional level during practice at a specific department/branch of medicine or surgery. An appropriate pedagogy and training strategy is needed in order to combat the issues faced by the working professionals in a hospitals in general and at urological department in particular.

Abstract: The entire supply chain of organic food products in Karnataka is burdened with various issues and challenges. To list the possible challenges and suggest a way forward, there is a need to study the supply chain of organic food products sector in Karnataka. The purpose of the paper is to identify and discuss the supply chain of organic food products in Karnataka and recognize the issues which are the causes for slow and inefficient supply of organic food products. The attempt is made to suggest alleviation strategies to overcome the recognized issues and challenges.

Abstract: The ability of the household to access adequate quantity and quality of food is essential to ensure food security. Experience based Household Food Insecurity Access Scale (HFIAS) is a simple measure of quality and quantity of food intake to examine the food security status of the household. The present study examines the reliability and validity of HFIAS to measure food security status of rural and urban households of Assam. The reliability statistic Cronbach’s α is used to test the internal consistency of the scale and it is found to be consistent in the context of Assam with α value greater than 0.7. Multitrait Multiitem Correlation matrix validates the scale and external validity is shown in terms of association of this scale with factors affecting household food security. A multistage random sampling was carried out and HFIAS questionnaire was administered among 310 rural and 426 urban household of four districts of Assam, namely Tinsukia, Sivasagar, Jorhat and Lakhimpur. The study makes an attempt to identify and compare the food security status of rural and urban households. Food insecurity among rural households are found to be higher than its urban counterpart. There is need of study and research to identify the context specific factors of generating food insecurity in the state and thereby to ensure that people will enjoy the basic right to food.

Abstract: Recent scenario retailing is main business. Recent technology and development have made retail to become more profit oriented and thus by introducing different types of retail formats, shopping mall is one of different format of retail, different type’s shops come under one roof. Now days shopping malls entry into small town like Shivamogga. So understand their expectation level and study the shopping behavior in mall and evaluate the consumer opinion in shopping mall.

Methodology: This research using descriptive method, primary data collected from structured questionnaire, sample size is 150 questionnaires, Non probability sample method under convenience sample techniques and who are visited to Bearys city centre there are considered as a sample unit. Questionnaire should match with the objectives.

Findings: Respondents like modern retail format there are really enjoyed but unfilled shops may create the difficult for consumer during shopping, consumer visit mall because of shopping purpose and food.

Result: The results indicated that new format of retailing have a future, consumers taste and preference also changed in shopping behavior. People shift from unorganized retail to organized retail and they get different shopping experience.

Abstract: A survey for the incidence of post-harvest rot of fungal pathogens of Irish Potato was carried out in four locations within Biu Local Government Area of Borno State,the sample size of 80 tubers / market (320) was taken and the average percentage incidence of rot was 9.06%, the highest rot was in Mirnga Market (13.25%) while the lowest was in Hospital Market (6.25%). Four fungal pathogens. were associated with this rot (Aspergillus flavus, Thielavia terricola, Rhizopus stolonifer and Scopulariopsis brevicaulis) the most frequent occurring was Rhizopus stolonifer while the least frequently occurring was Aspergillus flavus. Thielavia terricola was most pathogenic with rot lesion size of 14.11mm. In vitro test with garlic oil, neem seed oil and tridax leaf ash showed that the test substances were significantly effective (p=0.0001). Tridax leaf ash had the highest inhibition of 18.50 while neem seed oil and garlic oil had the least inhibition rate of 20.16 and 24.18 respectively. In vivo test with garlic oil, neem seed oil and tridax leaf ash at p=0.0001showed that the test substances were significantly(0.0001) effective. Tridax leaf ash had the highest inhibition of 3.13. while Garlic oil and neem seed oil had the least inhibition rate of 4.02 and 4.19 respectively. It is therefore suggested that more research should be conducted on the ash with garlic oil and neem seed oil and their effects on the same pathogens or similar ones.

Abstract: Karanj trees are grown and planted for extraction of oil from seeds. The shells of the karanj fruits are discarded as waste material. These fruit shells which otherwise had no economic value was used as precursors for preparation of activated charcoal. Acetic acid was used as activating agent. The parameters for activation of precursors such as: concentration of acetic acid, activation time and impregnation ratio was studied. Carbonization of activated material was performed from temperature ranging from 3000C- 4500C.

Abstract: The demand for energy is increasing day by day. The energy for the world depends heavily on fossil fuels for electricity generation. It is also expected to continue the dependence on fossil fuels for next few decades. So it is important to note that this plants must reduce their environmental impact by operating fossil fuels more effectively. Energy analysis based on first law of thermodynamics cannot be applied as it cannot justify the real useful energy loss because it does not differentiate between quality and quantity of energy within the system. Whereas exergy analysis will characterize the work potential of a system based on the second law of thermodynamics and the maximum work that can be obtained from the system when its state is brought to the reference or dead state. The paper presents the results of energy and exergy analysis of boiler and extraction cum condensing steam turbine of 18.9 MW cogeneration plant. It is seen that maximum exergy destruction occurs in boiler particularly during combustion process. The energy analysis of boiler and steam turbine is 66.08 % and 78.26% while exergy analysis of boiler and steam turbine is 42.55% and 74.74 % respectively. The exergy destruction in boiler is 31.472 MW.

Abstract: Adolescent period involves several biological, cognitive and psychosocial changes (Williams et al., 2002; Susman & Don, 2009). Indicators and predictors of adolescent’s mental health are essentially connected with not only the present but future health and health-related behaviors also (Galambos & Costigan, 2003). In India, 63 million people suffer from significant hearing loss. Hearing impaired individuals across their lifespan are more likely than hearing people to experience mental well-being difficulties whether in terms of mental ill health or more broadly in relation to feelings of positivity and negativity about one’s self. Happiness is one of the most important aspects of psychological well-being. Subjective wellbeing, or happiness, involves a number of distinct components, such as satisfaction with life as a whole or with significant life domains (e.g., satisfaction with social or work life), positive affect and low levels of negative affect (Diener, 2000). The present study investigated the level of happiness among hearing impaired adolescents. 55 hearing impaired adolescents (29 boys and 26 girls) studying and living in special deaf school (Patiala school of Deaf and Blind, Saifdipur) in Patiala district were selected for the present study. Their age ranged from 11-19 years. The results showed that life satisfaction was the highest correlated factor with overall happiness whereas Interpersonal relationship was the least correlated factor with overall happiness. 38.18 adolescents had low level of happiness while 36.36 were high on happiness. The factors effecting levels of happiness in hearing impaired adolescents can help to understand and deal with them in a better way as they move into the next crucial phase of life.

Abstract: Avocado, a tropical fruit has gained nutritional prominence in recent times due to its high lipid content. The aim of this work is to evaluate the fatty acid profile and nutritional values of Non-Lime treated avocado pulp and lime treated avocado pulp by freeze drying. Lime treatment helps to prevent the browning reaction of the pulp and also helps to improve the texture, colour and flavour of the powder. Drying applied in food preparation helps to extend the shelf life of the available seasonal fruit and avoid transportation problem of fruit. Freeze-dried avocado had high water absorption capacity and rate. Freeze-dried and rehydrated samples were harder and softer respectively than fresh avocado.  The result indicates that the fatty acid profile and nutrient values are slightly variable in the two types of avocado powder (Non-Lime and lime treated) and also browning is prevented to a larger extent.

Abstract: The present study is to investigate the leadership styles of high school principals in relation to work motivation of staff. The sample consisted of the Government and private high schools of Moga District of Punjab, the selection of 25 schools from the urban and rural area were made. Five permanent teachers of class XI and XII with more than two years of experience in the same school were selected. The data was collected with the help of the Leadership Questionnaire for Principal the Leadership Style by Sinha (1983) andthe Work Motivation Questionnaire by Agarwal (2006) was used. The data obtained were analysed statistically with the help of Mean, SD, t-ratio, ANOVA and correlation to arrive at the following conclusions: Principal leadership is a crucial factor which directly controls the institutional quality and educational standard of any educational enterprise. The Principal's vision for the educational development and student learning is to be transacted majorly through the teachers. A Principal's function involves working with human beings as a starting point (incoming students), human beings as processing entities (teachers) and human beings as the end products (outgoing students). The parent fraternity as a benefactor and the management as the resource a provider are also human beings that the Principal interacts with. Thus the Principal's role expectedly is impactful through its leadership style and is a key motivating factor for the staff directly and students, parents and management indirectly. This is confirmed in this study. However, the further contrary findings through the study confirm that the Principal genders, backgrounds and leadership styles have an insignificant influence on overall Work Motivation of staff. Nor does the Institution type, girls or boys school type or location of the Institution have any influence on work motivation of the staff. The study of the leadership style of Principal in light of its effect on staff motivation is a significant indicator which shows the success of any educational system in providing appropriate talented leadership and thereby motivation for staff to deliver the best education.

Abstract: Mixed ligand  metal complexes of chloramphenicol of oxytetracycline such as have been [Cu(oxy)(chl)].2H2O, [Zn(oxy)(chl)].2H2O, [Ni(oxy)(chl)].6H2O and [Fe(oxy)(chl)(H2O)Cl].5H2O synthesized and characterised by elemental analysis, IR ,UV-Visibe, ESR, NMR,XRD spectrscopic techniques. Thermal analysis was studied by TGA, DSC method. Morphological studies were carried out by scanning electron microscopic method. DNA binding studies was carried out byelectronic absorption studies. From the spectral studies a square planar geometry was proposed for the copper complex. In conclusion, prepared complexes   showed enhanced DNA binding tendency than the parent drug that might be of interest for future research.

Abstract: The unawareness, under recognition and the consequential under treatment of osteoporosis in the primary care setting remain a global problem which should be addressed. Our current study provides insight into the importance of proper dissemination and implementation of the health education program to assess the osteoporosis self-efficacy based on Health Belief Model among female academician in Malaysia. A single blinded randomized controlled trial was conducted among 212 female academicians; intervention was conducted for 12 weeks; data was collected at baseline, immediately, one month and three months after intervention. Data was analyzed by Statistical Package for Social Sciences version 20. After intervention, from baseline to three months follow up there was a significant increase in the mean score of self-efficacy (22.4-25.9, p<0.001). Controlling for baseline socio-demographic data, the GLM model showed a significant difference between groups (F=4.68, p<0.001) and within groups for self -efficacy score (F=9.73, p<0.001). In conclusion, Health Belief Model had a positive effect on increasing self-efficacy, this study could be used as a model for promoting a healthy lifestyle in order to prevent osteoporosis in early stage.

Abstract: In this work, batch adsorption experiments were carried out for the removal of Rhodamine B as a cationic dye from aqueous solutions using activated Carica papaya leaves carbon. The effects of major variables governing the efficiency of the process such as, temperature, initial dye concentration, adsorbent dosage, and pH were investigated. Experimental results have shown that, the amount of dye adsorption increased with increasing the initial concentration of the dye, adsorbent dosage, and temperature. Equilibrium data were fitted to the Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin, Dubinin-Raduskevich, Harkins-Jura, BET isotherm models and isotherm constants were determined. The adsorption kinetic data were analyzed using pseudo-second-order and Elovich models.  Thermodynamic parameters such as changes in the free energy of adsorption (ΔG°), enthalpy (ΔH°) and entropy (ΔS°) were calculated. The negative values of ΔG° indicate that the methylene blue adsorption process is spontaneous in nature and the positive value of ΔH° shows the endothermic nature of the process.

Abstract: This study was an assessment of whether a capacity of private companies in garbage collection and disposal affects implementation of PPP in garbage collection and disposal. The study used a census method, where fifty seven private companies involved in garbage collection and disposal in NCC, were given questionnaires to answer. The main respondents in these companies were managers or supervisors since they are well equipped with policies, strategies and general operations of these companies. This ensured a reliable source of data. Sanni, (2006)  observed that a capacity of private companies undertaking a PPP project was among the key factors affecting the implementation of PPPs in different sectors of the economy. Therefore, this study aimed to establish whether capacity of private garbage collectors does affect implementation of PPPs in garbage collection and disposal in NCC.  A capacity in this study was determined by three key indicators:  skills of the workers to handle garbage, number of workers to collect and dispose garbage and machine and equipment to collect and dispose garbage. In determining the effects of capacity of private garbage collectors on implementation of PPPs in garbage collection the results of  R2 indicate that capacity of private sector can explain up to a total of 32.3% of the total variability in the dependent variable, implementation of PPPs in garbage collection and disposal in NCC.  The results confirmed Sanni, (2006) observation that capacity of private companies undertaking a PPP project is a key determinant in implementation of PPPs. Capacity of private sector has a statistically significant positive influence on implementation of PPPs in garbage collection and disposal in NCC (p-value = .000) which is less than the level of significance of 0.05. The results indicated that a change in capacity of private companies in garbage collection would result in 0.484 times changes in the implementation of PPPs in garbage collection and disposal in NCC.
