Abstract: In this work, Lanthanum oxide (La₂O₃) nanoparticles were synthesized by co-precipitation method and analyze their structural and optical properties. X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern confirms the formation of hexagonal structured La₂O₃ nanoparticles with slight mixed state of hydroxides and carbonates. The crystallite size of La₂O₃ nanoparticles was obtained by using Debye-Scherer’s calculation and Williamson-Hall (W-H) plot analysis methods. The existence of La-O stretching band at < 800 cm^-1 in the Fourier transformed infrared (FTIR) spectrum confirms the formation of La₂O₃ nanoparticles. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images represents the appearance of spherical shaped particles with nanosize regime. Further, the optical properties of La₂O_3­ nanoparticles were investigated from UV-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and the indirect band gap value was found to be 5.35 eV. Photoluminescence (PL) spectrum exhibits the broad emission peak in the wavelength ranges of 356-732 nm under the excitation of 230 nm.

Abstract: Nasalance value has been reported to be influenced by age, gender, stimulus type and the language spoken by the individual. Hence the current study was aimed at investigating the nasalance value of 3 to 5 year old native Kannada speaking children with repaired cleft of lip and palate (RCLP) and  to compares it with typically developing children (TDC). Twenty children with RCLP were considered for the study who were equally grouped into 3–4 year and 4-5 year old group. Further equal number of age and gender matched TDC children were considered as the control group. Nasalance value for the prolonged phonation of vowels /a/ /i/ and /u/ was collected from each child using Nasometer 6450. The data thus obtained was subjected to appropriate statistical analysis. The nasalence value was compared with in and across groups.The results revealed that vowel /i/ had the highest nasalance value followed by /u/ and /a/ in children with RCLP. However, in the TDC group vowel /i/ had the highest nasalance but naslance of /a/ and /u/ was not statistically significant. The reasons for the same are discussed.

Abstract: The present study was conducted on VI std students impact of Hybrid Learning in English oral communication skill. In education wise students are well but they cannot speak because of shy, hesitation, fear, mother tongue influence, family background and surroundings.  Here we should realize the impact of hybrid learning in English oral communication skill. Hybrid learning has changed the environment in traditional class room. It is an experimental method, sampling used in the study 60 students are selected.  The students are separated two group name control group and experimental group, each group having 30 students.  Hybrid learning method wise practice of oral communication skill in English Pre-Test, Post-Test, Retention Test tools are used in this study.  .it is very interesting to motivate the students to speak within short period; they are happy mood to answer through English language with confidently. Hybrid learning is suitable for these standard students. Now a day’s students like a modern trend technology improvements so these method is very good.  In future English is an effective and adopted together in modern world so students lifestyle is secured.

Abstract: Students must feel safe, connected engaged & supported in their class room, home & other resident for learning better. These conditions for learning are the elements of good learning environment. The term ‘Learning Environment` suggests environment suitable for learning in different place/ space like school, class room, library, home, hostel, mess. In present scenario it is obvious for many students to stay away from home for educational purpose. That’s why the learning environment of hostel or mess has a great impact on improving the quality of learning. It is very much essential to keep the environment of hostel or mess very much pleasant for study as well as home. In this connection researcher have taken the present paper aimed at to study and compare the learning environment of hostel & mess.The study considered 120 students from hostel and mess (Hostel – 60 & Mess-60) at PG level for sample. Survey method was used in the study. One principal variable, ‘learning environment` was considered in the paper. Five null hypotheses were framed for the study. One questionnaire which consists of 48 items of eight different dimension of learning indicator was framed for measuring awareness of learning environment between hostel and mess students at PG level. Mean and SD as descriptive statistics and ‘t` test as inferential statistics were employed to find out the significant difference between the gender towards learning environment. Out of five null hypotheses it was found that two are significant and three are not significant.

Abstract: The study of ethnomedicinal plants was carried out with the Mara tribe in the Saiha district of Mizoram. In the present study 38 plant species belonging to 28 families were involved. The ethnomedicinal plants were used by the traditional users to treat different diseases. The importance of documenting ethnomedicinal plants in the region is important because of rapid loss of biodiversity due to anthropogenic activities and will help in conservation of the valuable used species.

Abstract: Agriculture plays a major role on any developing country such as India. About 58% population still depend on the agriculture for their living but in last 10 years face various problems such as Industrial and Chemical disaster Flood, Drought, accidents, Fire etc. Due to this farmer move to committed suicide. In year 2011 a total 13585 peoples committed suicides of which 14207 were farmers. In year 2010 about 15963 farmers in India committed suicide, while total suicides were 13499.From 1995 to 2013 a total of 296,438 Indian farmers committed suicides. But in present study suicide rate decreases as compare to the last 15 year. To stop the farmer to commit suicide some initiatives are taken by the government and launch various schemes which provide financially support and moral support due to these suicide rate of farmer decreases as much as possible. Present study conducted in district Damoh Madhya Parades. And attempts made to investigate by the survey that the condition of the farmer and their requirements and their production increment in the various crops .During the survey one of the major problem are come out that is awareness. Most of the farmers are unaware with the various schemes run by the government and various facility provide to the farmer.

Abstract: Potassium Hydrogen Phthalate (KHP) crystals doped with Amino acid L-Asparagine (0.1 & 0.15mol %) were grown by slow evaporation technique. Structural characterizations of the grown crystals were carried out by powder X-ray diffraction method. It reveals that the grown crystals of undoped and doped KHP crystals are in orthorhombic structure. The functional groups were identified by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy. The enhancement of optical transparency in the doped KHP crystal was recorded using UV-Visible spectrophotometer. Mechanical strength of the grown crystal was estimated by Vickers hardness test. The TG-DTA results establish the good thermal stability of the material. The second harmonic generation has been confirmed by the Kurtz powder method. It was observed to be greater than that of KDP. The photoluminescence study also observed.

Abstract: Children with cleft of lip and palate (CLP) are reported with both speech and language disorders. Several studies have been done to investigate the salient feature of speech in children with CLP. However the studies focussing on assessing the language parameter using standardised test battery is limited in Indian context. In lieu of this the current study aimed at assessing children with repaired cleft of lip and palate (RCLP) who have not accessed speech language rehabilitation post surgery using a standardised language assessment material viz., Kannada Language Test (KLT). Twenty children with RCLP were grouped based on age into 3 to 4 year old group and 4 to 5 year old group. Twenty age matched typically developing children were also selected for comparison.  KLT was administered on each child and scores obtained were analysed with appropriate statistical measures. The results revealed that children in RCLP had poor language scores compared to TDC. There was a developmental trend noted in the language scores as in both RCLP and TDC groups. There was also a significant difference in language scores noted between RCLP and TDC in the 3 to 4 year age group. However the same was not noted in the 4 to 5 year old group. Further the receptive skills were found to be better than the expressive scores. The reasons for such findings in relation to Indian context are discussed.

Abstract: Freebies are anything that are given as a sample or given away free to the customers from the marketers side. It’s a great way for creating a brand awareness and increasing the brand building and on the other hand, it’s a great way to try out the new product or service without any risk, because you are not spending your hard earned cash to get them. It is a fun hobby to encourage customers to try out new products and freebies create a positive buzz for the brands. This research is the combination of exploratory and descriptive research. The primary data was collected with the help of structured questionnaire and we also took the data from the secondary resources. The present research is based on analyzing the role of freebies in brand building of FMCG products in organized retail. After collection of data, it is analyzed by using different statistical techniques including frequency distribution, reliability statistics, chi-square test, correlation, ANOVA and factor analysis. The results of the study showed that Freebies help in brand building of FMCG products in organized retail sector.

Abstract: Land use land cover and its changes in Thanjavur block located in the Cauvery delta region of Tamil Nadu, India, has been the main motivation of the study.  Understanding of spatial distribution of land use land cover and its changes for planning, utilization and sustainable management to support the demands made by human. Land use land cover pattern has been carried out with effective tool of ArcGIS using supervised classification. The study has concluded that agriculture area has increased along with built up land, whereas fallow land has been decreasing.

Abstract: Digital technology is the key component of educational upliftment in the scenario of rapidly galloping word. The quality and standard of education system can be enhanced to an extent by integration of digitally mediated teaching and learning especially in countries like India. Hence The incorporation of latest digital and web technology cannot be neglected in Open and Distance Education. The study explored the level of utilisation of digital educational tools and resources among Open and Distance Learning students. The study conducted among 168 post graduate and undergraduate Open and Distance Learning students taken from five universities. The tool used for the study is the Utilization of Digital Educational Tools and Resources developed by the researcher which have 25 questions from five dimensions i.e. Interactive Resources, Digital Library Resources, Multimedia Archives, M-Learning and Open Access Resources. It is four Point-Scale having the score 3, 2, 1, and 0 for the options ‘Always’, ‘Frequently’, ‘Rarely’ and ‘Not at all’ respectively. The statistical techniques used for the study Mean, Standard Deviation and t-test. The result showed there is a moderate level utilization of digital educational tools and resources among post graduate Open and Distance Learning students while it is below average among undergraduate Open and Distance Learning students. The result also showed that there is significant difference in the utilization of digital educational tools and resources among Open and Distance Learning students based on gender, type of course and stream of subject. It is also found the significant difference among under graduate Open and Distance Learning students based on gender and there is significant difference among postgraduate Open and Distance Learning students based on stream of subject. The study advocates needed policy implementation in Open and Distance Education to enhance the quality concerns.

Abstract: Nutritional status of Hijras in West Bengal has not been investigated adequately. The present study was undertaken to determine the prevalence of overweight, obesity, and thinness in Hijras of Paschim Medinipur, West Bengal, India. The nutritional status of Hijras in Paschim Medinipur is risk full. Appropriate measures should be taken by the respective authorities and Government to improve their health and nutritional status. A cross-sectional, observational, study was carried out among 114 Hijras aged 17-78 years studying in Survey Questionnaire. The nutritional status has been assessed with the help of some anthropometric indices. Height and weight were measured and BMI was computed following standard formula.  SPSS 20.0 was used for analysis of data. The mean nutritional indices were found to be much critical among the Hijras. The overall prevalence rates of overweight, obesity, and thinness were 32.45 percent, 15.79 percent, and 16.67 percent respectively. The present study shows that obesity constituted major health problems whereas the nutritional status among the Hijras is very poor with a high rate of nutritional risks. The older portion among them was experiencing the highest prevalence of nutritional stress respectively. In addition, there was also an emerging trend for overweight/obesity; hence, the special emphases are needed to formulate various developmental and healthcare programmes for Hijra communities to prevent adiposity.

Title: Assessment of Nutritional Status of Hijras: A Study of Paschim Medinipur District, West Bengal, India

Abstract: A series of Semiconducting borate glass samples doped with vanadium in the composition range (H₃BO₃)₁ + (V₂O₅)_1-x where x ranging from 0.1, to 0.5 has been prepared by melt quench technique. The samples were annealed and their non-crystalline nature was confirmed by X-ray diffraction studies. Archimedes principle was adopted to measure room temperature density of the glass samples. High and low temperature DC electrical conductivity of the samples were analyzed and various polaron related parameters were investigated in the light of Mott’s SPH for T >   and Mott’s VRH and Greaves VRH for T <    (where  Debye’s temperature). The investigations in these glass systems showed to be non-adiabatic electrical conduction. As per as above theories, the calculated activation energies, conductivities and various polaron parameters were discussed. The detailed results of all the above parameters were discussed and it is for the first time the pure borate glasses doped with vanadium ions subjected to dc electrical conduction mechanism within the studied composition range.

Abstract: Complex problems cross the boundaries of traditional disciplines and thus, require researchers and research groups in higher education to engage in interdisciplinary inquiry and collaboration to generate knowledge that is more than the sum of its parts. This article explores interdisciplinary research in higher education and the different views scholars in the social sciences (e.g., education, sociology, economics) hold in terms of how knowledge is produced, integrated and evaluated. Hindering institutional factors of interdisciplinary research that linger within the existing departmentalized framework at many higher education institutions are discussed. Finally, conclusions and implications are drawn to facilitate interdisciplinary research likely to advance fundamental understanding and lead to relevant, applicable and socially valuable results.
