Abstract: An experiment was conducted under ambient condition (26 oC; 75% RH), in the Department of Biological Sciences Laboratory, University of Maiduguri, in Borno State, Nigeria. The aim was to determine the best plant products and method of application in the control of the cowpea bruchid (Callosobruchus maculatus). The four plant products treatments comprised Acacia nilotica, Capsicum frutescens L.; Zingiber officinale Rosc., Khaya senegalensis (Desv.) A. Juss, and a synthetic insecticide (Primiphos methyl 2% Dust) as standard check; and the three application methods treatments were slurry, soak and dust; and dose (0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 and 2.5 g/100 g of cowpea). The factorial experiment was laid-out in Randomized Complete Block Design, with three replicates. Results of the study showed that the plant products treatments differed significantly (P<0.05) in their effects on C. maculatus oviposition, adult emergence, mortality, and cowpea seed weight loss; which ranged from 13.0 - 85.0 eggs, 2.0 - 26.7 beetles, 1.6 - 24.0% and 1.31 - 9.22%, respectively. The results of the study consistently showed that the synthetic insecticide, Primiphos methyl gave significantly fewer eggs, emerged adults, very high mortality, and very low weight loss than all tested plant products, thus was the most effective against C. maculatus. However, Capsicum frutescence was the most effective among the four plant products, with significantly fewer eggs laid, fewer emerged adults, higher mortality and lower seed weight loss; followed by Zingiber officinale, Khaya senegalensis and Acacia nilotica in that increasing order of efficacy. Methods of application also differed significantly (P<0.05) in their effects on C. maculatus, in which dust was the most effective on oviposition, adult emergence, mortality and weight loss, followed by soak, then slurry.

Abstract: Density, viscosity and velocity were measured for aqueous NaCl, aqueous KCl and aqueous NaCl + KCl solution at different concentration and at temperatures 288K, 298K, 308K. Surface tension, Gibb’s function, internal pressure and free volume for these solutions were calculated at different temperatures and were compared to know the strength of molecular interaction.

Abstract: Demand of renewable energy increased greatly just after the first big oil crisis in the late seventies. At that time, economic issues were the most important factors, hence interest in such process decreased when oil price fell. The current resurgence of interest in the use of renewable energy is driven by the need to reduce the high environmental impact of fossil-based energy systems. To combat the climate change caused by fossil fuels the Kyoto protocol and Copenhagen accords were signed. These accords require signatories to greatly reduce emissions which require alternative energy sources such as renewable energy. Solar energy is one of the potential sources of renewable energy that can reduce dependency on fossil fuels. Due to simplicity, availability, reliability and low maintenance photovoltaic (PV) arrays are an ideal option for many countries. In Indian subcontinent receiving lot of sunlight and with a well designed application solar can provide large amounts of power at low cost. The aforementioned reasons, makes solar power a great option for addressing power crisis in India. This paper starts with the introduction of renewable energy and the need felt to switch to renewable energy resource. In addition, renewable energy allows for increased energy access to the Indian people, especially in the rural and remote areas, catering to their basic energy needs. This paper also attempts to analyze the different promotional strategies adopted within a regulatory framework in India.

Abstract: Nyctanthes arbor-tristis L. is commonly known as Coral Jasmine and Parijat, belonging to the family Oleaceae (Nyctaginaceae). It is one of the most versatile medicinal plants having a wide spectrum of biological activities. The present study aimed to develop an improved protocol for in vitro propagation through the culture of axillary bud and shoot tip explants from in vitro germinated seedlings. Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium as basal medium and supplemented with different concentrations and combinations of 6-benzyl amino purine (BAP), α- naphalene acetic acid (NAA), Kinetin (Kn) and indole butyric acid (IBA) were used in order to shoot induction, multiplication and rooting. The medium without any plant growth regulators (PGRs) were employed for in vitro seed germination. The axillary bud and shoot tip were excised from in vitro germinated seedlings and inoculated on initiation medium. The maximum percentage of shoot induction with 6.10 ± 1.28 of shoots was produced on the medium fortified with 4.44 µM/L of BAP and 2.68 µM/L of NAA. The well initiated shoots were sub cultured on fresh medium composed of different concentration and combinations of PGRs for further multiplication of shoots. The medium enriched with 8.07 µM/L of BAP and 3.76 µM/L of NAA was found to be efficient for maximum percentage of shoot multiplication with the highest number of shoots (21.10 ± 1.85) and mean shoot length of 10.30 ± 1.41cm. The effective root induction with maximum number of roots was obtained on the half strength MS medium supplemented with 4.92 µM/L of IBA. The well rooted healthy plantlets were hardened and establish successfully with 95% of survival. This protocol may be useful for the large scale production of this plant and other medicinal plants.

Abstract: The advancement of technologies like internet and other web facilities have improved the interaction of citizens with the government. The Government of India has taken the initiative of reaching out people and provides all services to the citizens at his / her own locality and ensures the Governance through ICT (Information Communication Technology) and hence it is called as electronics governance or e-Governance. To provide various services the Common Service Centres (CSCs) or in Odisha it is popularly known as “Jana Sava Kendra” is opened in a PPP (Public Private Partnership) mode. Now CSCs are playing a vital role for rural development through providing various services in the rural areas which were not available before implementing e-Governance. Because of e-Governance the rural population easily accesses several services in CSCs nearest to their locality. The services i.e. G2C (Government to Consumer), B2C (Business to Consumer) and B2B (Business to Business) are successfully provided by Common Service Centres in India which are run by Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs). Along with many services there are various public utility services are also provided by the CSCs and making the CSCs, an effective e-Governance tool. So to closely understand, that how the public utility services rendered by CSCs is beneficial to the general public, the current exploratory study is initiated in the Rayagada district of Odisha. This study will help me to have one in-depth study (Rayagada District) on the above subject to know how CSCs are playing the role of rendering various Government and business services to common people in their locality and making the e-Governance initiatives successful.

Abstract: This study aims to determine the relationship between career planning and career development opportunities available to the employees and their job satisfaction. This study is focusing on private sector banks at Thanjavur District. Methodology/Sample for this paper, the survey was conducted by using the structured questionnaire that was administered through e-mail and by distributing to five hundred respondents from private Banks situated at Thanjavur district. Hypothesis testing has been done by using the statistical tools for multiple regression and Wilcoxon through (SPSS-20). The sample size for the study is 860 respondents and the sampling procedure used primary and secondary data based. The study determined that there is a positive relationship between career planning and career development and employee job satisfaction and there is a positive relationship between career management and employee job satisfaction in the banking sector. Employees are satisfied with career planning and career development activities that are offered at their organizations. Recently in the Corporate world has become more competitive hence, employees have become more conscious in career development.

Abstract: The Textile industries pose a significant environmental difficulty because of their huge water consumption. The discharge of colored wastewater represents a severe environmental and community health problem. The present study involves the Photocatalytic decolorization of industrial wastewater by employing newly synthesizes heterogeneous photocatalyst under laboratory condition. An experimental trial has been made to study the effect of parameters viz., amount of catalyst, pH, and irradiation time of photo catalytic degradation of wastewater. The experiment was carried out by irradiating the textile wastewater containing photocatalyst inside the batch reactor having UV light. The rate of decolorization was estimated by spectrophotometrically. Similar experiments were carried out by varying pH (2–12), the amount of catalyst (0.2–1.5 gm) time variation (5-30) minutes). The experimental results show that, the maximum color removal of wastewater (more than 95) occurred at pH 7-11 using newly synthesized catalyst. Catalyst play excellent role for the degradation of dyes from the wastewater and the performance of catalyst in the UV Batch Reactor was excellent throughout the experiment.

Abstract: The proposed study intend to measure the impact of human resource system and sub-systems' on workplace productivity. Organizational environment have an influence over employee morale, productivity and engagement – both positive and negative. People working in such environment are prone to occupational diseases and accidents which adversely affect employee productivity. Therefore to make workplace environment healthy the behavioural and human value system related issues should be taken care into. It is the quality of the employee’s workplace environment that usually matters to enhance their work motivation and productivity. How well they engage within the workplace, especially with their immediate environment influences reduced error rate, innovativeness, creativity and collaboration with other employees. Likewise, absenteeism, attrition rate and industrial accidents may be reduced to a considerable level. Creating a work environment in which employees are productive is essential for achieving efficiency, effectiveness and higher profitability within an organization. The relationship between values, workplace behaviour and productivity becomes an integral part of work itself.

The proposed research paper will be focussing to determine the extent to which effective HRM practices can enhance productivity in order to check and curb poor performance at workplace. This also aims to identify HRM related operative functions, workplace productivity and human values which affect attitudinal aspect of employees which ultimately have an impact on workplace productivity. To arrive into the conclusions and findings of the study undertaken the data had been collected from secondary source.

Abstract: India higher education system is expanding to reach out to the demands of students. The characteristics of e-learning anyone, anytime and anywhere helps to cater the needs of today’s Indian higher education demand. To make an effort in the same direction an experimental study was conducted of designing an online course for undergraduate students of family and community sciences discipline. An experimental study was conducted using pre-post experimental design. Blended learning method was used to teach 95 first year students of faculty of family and community sciences, the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara. The major finding of the study revealed that there was significant difference in gain in knowledge of the students studied through the designed online course. Not many studies are conducted in the area of e-learning and social sciences, this would be a contributory study to take up future researches in the same area.

Abstract:  In this paper, strength of the spur gear was studied under the influence of module, number of teeth and speed. The optimum result was achieved in the experimental study by employing Design of Experiment with full factorial design. The ANOVA analysis was used to optimize parameters and to achieve maximum strength. Also the relation between the parameters and the performance measure were determined using multi regression equation.  Further the beam strength of the helical gear was studied considering its module, number of teeth and helix angle as the design parameters and the same ANOVA analysis is done to optimize the parameters and maximize strength.

Abstract: This paper is on comparative study of working and variation of different parameters like stability, peak overshoot, rise time, steady state error, etc for different conventional controllers like Proportional (P),Proportional-Integral (PI),Proportional-Integral-derivative (PID) and Fuzzy controllers like Fuzzy logic controller (FLC) and Hybrid Fuzzy PI. Various controllers are designed for speed control of BLDC motor by using different techniques of integration, derivative, Fuzzy Decision making, etc to achieve the desired performance by reducing the peak overshoot, steady state error and sometimes by compromising time taken for computation of loop or memory occupied by controller or cost, etc. A good controller should have reduced overshoot, less rise time and less steady state error. The output response should be approximately similar to input. MATLAB/SIMULINK is used for modeling of motor and implementation of controllers.
