Abstract: The brown tick of dogs (Rhipicephalus sanguineus) is a well-recognized arthropod vector of many pathogens affecting dogs and occasionally humans. It is the most widespread tick in dog population and can be found in rural as well as urban areas. In the present study, 104 ticks were collected from 74 dogs clinically examined in and around different areas of Anand, Gujarat (India). The overall prevalence of tick infestation was recorded as 58.11% (43 of 74). Among different species of ticks identified from 43 dogs with tick infestation, 76.74% (n=33) dogs were reported to have tick infestation by Rhipicephalus sanguineus. The epidemiological data of morbidity in dogs with tick infestation by Rhipicephalus sanguineus in correlation to various epidemiological parameters such as breed, sex, age and housing pattern were generated for development of the dog health surveillance in area. In the present article, some of these epidemiological aspects of Rhipicephalus sanguineus are discussed in domestic dog population examined.

Abstract: The success of tertiary teacher education students in the Licensure Examination is indicative of the quality of training the teacher education institutions have instilled in the students. The study traced the graduates’ Otis-Lennon School Ability Test (OLSAT) rating, College Grade Point Average, High School Grade Point Average, English Placement Exam and Honours received in High School; determined the performance of the examinees in General Education and Professional Education; found out the relationship between the performance and the profile and determined the varieties which could predict the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) performance. The study used the descriptive – correlational design. Data on the LET results were taken from the Official List of Examinees issued by the Professional Regulation Commission. The rest of the data were taken from individual files and were treated statistically using means, percentages and multiple regressions. Majority of the graduates have low rating in the Otis Lennon School Ability Test, Average performance as indicated in the College Grade Point Average, High Grade Point Average in High School; passed the English Placement Test; and had honors in high school. The examinees had Average performance in the General and Professional Education components of the LET. Of the variables, only three were found significantly influential to the LET performance – college Grade Point Average, OLSAT rating and English placement test passing.

Abstract: Architecture has the unique ability of being able to have a direct effect on the way people feel within a space. This idea is never more evident than in the design of healing spaces. Healing spaces are charged with housing humans in some of our most physically and emotionally sensitive states. In this paper the author surveys the existing research on those elements of the built and natural environment most often asserted by proponents as being in inherently healing or promoting health. The research covers the neurological and behavioural implications of the outlined architectural elements on stress and anxiety reduction. Opportunities exist to make meaningful contributions in this area that are likely to make significant impact on health outcomes of human beings.

Abstract: The study determined the performance of senior teacher education students in the in-campus teaching phase as rated by their cooperating teachers. The performance was studied in terms of the personal and professional qualities of the students. Using descriptive research design, a 35-item questionnaire was utilized. Data were treated using frequency counts, percentages, ranking and means. Findings revealed that most of the student respondents are female, having ages ranging from 19 and above. A bigger number constituted of majors in English. Majority of the respondents have Good performance. The respondents are rated Good in personal qualities. Highest means were for indicators on personal appearance, such as dressing and grooming appropriately, having good posture and carriage and being neat and pleasing in appearance. Lowest means were for indicators in having a keen sense of humor, being well informed on current social problems and issues and manifestation of creativity. The respondents are rated well in professional qualities. Highest means were for indicators on preparing instructional materials, showing respect for students’ personality, and deriving objectives from curriculum requirements and students’ needs. Lowest means were for indicators on creating wholesome classroom atmosphere conducive to learning, giving careful attention to the physical condition of the classroom and showing mastery of subject matter or content.

Abstract: The main objective of the study was to develop and validate a teacher aptitude test for teacher education students in the University of Eastern Philippines, Catarman, Northern Samar, Philippines. A multiple choice test of 114 items was finalized after pilot study. The test was administered to a sample of 130 freshmen students in the college. Separate sheets were provided to students included in the sample. Several work sheets were prepared to perform item analysis. Classical test theory method was used in the analyses of the data. Item analysis, difficulty index, and discriminatory index were calculated. The reliability coefficient was 0.78 indicating moderate goodness of fit of the items to the respondents.

Abstract: This study examines the effects of human activities on water quality in Lamingo dam, field study was carried out to ascertain how human activities affect the quality of water of the dam between 2013 and 2014. The analysis carried out included physico-chemical analysis. Surveys were carried out to find out from the inhabitants their daily occupation and other activities normally undertaken around the reservoirs that might affect the water quality, the survey identified some of the activities the inhabitants undertook as farming, fishing, cement blocks moulding, cattle rearing, car wash etc. The laboratory results of water samples collected from the dam  revealed that  the level of total suspended solids (TSS), total dissolved solids (TDS), pH, dissolved oxygen ( DO), chemical oxygen demand (COD), temperature, electrical conductivity, turbidity, hardness, benzene, cyanide, mercury and cadmium in the water sample were quite high. With the exception of pH , all other physico-chemical parameters measured are between 100% and 120% higher and have exceeded the maximum permissible limit given by the National Standard Water Quality (Nigeria) and World Health Organization (WHO). Presence of some of these pollutants, at various points of the dam, was observed and level of these pollutants at varying degrees was found. These and other high levels of some of the parameters were attributed to poor sanitation, improper farming methods such as excess use of fertilizers, improper fishing practices and discharge of domestic waste into the dam.

Abstract: The samples were four sections of first Year College students of Far Eastern University (FEU-Manila) enrolled in Principles of Food Safety, Hygiene and Sanitation (PRNSHS) taking up BS in Hotel and Restaurant Management (BS HRM). The two sections were classified as ICT (Information and Communication Technology) group, while the other two is Traditional lecture-discussion (TLD) group. There were twenty three (23) matched-pairs formed in each section. First, the ICT group had time to familiarize with e-learning and was administered a pretest on achievement and attitude. These two groups were given the posttest on achievement and attitude towards Principles of Food Safety, Hygiene and Sanitation. The t-test for independent samples was used to determine the difference between the pretest, posttest, and gain scores of the ICT group and TLD groups as well as their attitude towards Principles of Food Safety, Hygiene and Sanitation before and after the intervention. The results indicated that the use of e-Learning approach as a cognitive tool, produced a significant difference in academic gain and attitude scale for the students under the ICT group of the HRM students. It is important to choose appropriate teaching-learning approach so that concepts and elaboration related to the subject matter enhance the students' achievement and performance in their learning. Also, it is clear that the major advantage of e-Learning approach is that the ICT group was more actively involved in the learning process. The different ICT materials the students were guided by the Rubrics scale, instructional goals and objectives that met the needs of students learning. The nature of students’ learning must drive the type of performance used to assess students’ knowledge.

Abstract: In this research article, an effort has been made to evaluate the Global (Foreign Direct Investment) FDI flows in India. The key analytical and policy question examined in this paper is whether global FDI need to be regulated to enhance their potential contribution to world welfare. Flow of FDI has grown faster over recent past. Higher flows of FDI in India from the world reflect a better economic environment in the presence of economic reforms and investment-oriented policies. The Researchers used One Way ANOVA (Scheffe Method) for fulfilling the objectives of the study. The country wise Analysis of FDI Inflow in India reveals that a maximum FDI inflow comes from Mauritius followed USA and Singapore.

Abstract: this paper proposes an fpga-based implementation of an mppt control system suitable for stereovision robot. At the core of this system, the perturb-and-observe algorithm is used to track the maximum power point. The algorithm runs on an altera flex 10k fpga chip. Additional functional blocks, such as the adc interface, fir filter, dither generator, and dac interface, needed to support the mppt control system are integrated within the same fpga device thus streamlining the part composition of the physical prototype used to build this control system.

Abstract: Flood is the most devastating natural disaster experienced in Malaysia is flood. Throughout Malaysia, including Sabah and Sarawak, there is total of 189 river basins (89 of the river basins are in peninsula Malaysia, 78 in Sabah and 22 in Sarawak), with the main channels flowing directly to the South China Sea and 85 of them are prone to become recurrent flooding. The estimated area vulnerable to flood disaster is approximately 29,800 km2 or 9% of the total Malaysia area, and is affecting almost 4.82 million people which is around 22% of the total population of the country. This study is aimed at finding the causes, effects and mitigation of floods. A comparative study was carried out to determine the people perception on floods. It is clear that, most of the people believe that, improper drainage condition is the main cause of floods. About 33% of the population agrees that, water damage to building is the main effect of flooding and other part suggested that evacuating people from flood prone to safe zones is the best way of reducing flood victims. It is finally agrees that, government and local community should take necessary measures to ensure proper drainage is build and clear during rainfall season. It is suggested that people should avoid developing new buildings on a water ways to reduce frequent occurrence of flooding, or people and government most ensure that, flood prone areas are not occupy with buildings.

Abstract: During the past three decades, wastewater production has increased tremendously due to the population increase and the continuous rural population resettlements in the cities seeking a presumed better standard of living .Global and regional climatic changes have contributed to the issue in addition to the exhaustion of the environment, including water ways and water bodies. The River Tigris receives it share of water quality deterioration and scarcity. Therefore, full scale environmental precautions have to be setup urgently in order to protect this magnificent and historic water resource. In the absence of sewage infrastructure services in Mosul city, most of the urban wastewaters (domestic, industrial and agricultural return flows) reach the river through natural canals passing through the city. In addition, the city solid waste services are managed improperly which causes further suffering of the environment. It is estimated that 5 to 6 m³/s of mostly settled raw waste water is disposed of into the river as gray water. In order to investigate the most potent pollutants existing in the river water and their seasonal variation, this research work has been initiated in order to evaluate and model the variation of these pollutants with distance and time as the river passes through Mosul city, their environmental impact on the quality of river Tigris and to define their use status as compared with potable water quality criteria. The results of the study indicate that the concentration of some of the pollutants in the river water is affected by the highly polluted wastewater disposed into the reach under consideration which exceeds the permissible limits of potable water on some occasions. Pollutant variation as expressed by the derived models indicates that the pollutants flowing downstream vary considerably with the river flow rate and/or time of the year. A modified Water Quality Index (WQI) has been suggested and implemented over the reach under investigation. The water quality is classified as clean water or 17% polluted on the average. Suitable instantaneous and long run solutions are proposed in order to reduce and /or even eliminate (as a final goal) the decline in the water quality of the river Tigris while flowing through Mosul city. Since Mosul city is located at the river mouth upstream, thus any variation in its quality can certainly affect all the cities and /or downstream river water consumers including the capital Baghdad, the most heavily populated city in Iraq. As the pollutant loading is high in the mentioned reach, the dilution and self‑ purification process possessed by the river, especially in low flow periods might be inadequate to preserve and maintain a reliable and adequate water quality in the river Tigris. Environmental legislation and laws set up by the authorities involved in the regulations and protection of the environment have to be actuated and implemented over a national scale urgently and adequately.

Abstract: Rural India has more than 700 million people residing in about 1.42 million habitations spread over 1.5 diverse ecological regions. Meeting the drinking water needs of such a large population can be a difficult task.In rural India, village ponds and groundwater well have been playing very vital role in socio, cultural, economic and environment development. These Ponds are the common property of Indian villages and support the livelihoods of the marginalized community in rural, urban, coastal and tribal areas of India.Due to contaminations of these drinking water sources in villages, around 38 million Indians are affected by waterborne diseases annually; 1.6 million children are estimated to die of Diarrhea alone.Indians are at risk due to excess fluoride and 10 million due to excess arsenic in groundwater.Hardness and Chloride are also deteriorating the water supply lines and structures along with few reported health issues like hypertension and bone disease in rural India.This is an effort to characterize the drinking water quality available in the village water sources like ponds and deep wells.A case study of village & P O Kharak Kalan District Bhiwani, Haryana.

Abstract: The study assessed the implementation of the alternative learning system program along provision of life skills, increased literacy and quality of living. It was revealed that the provision of life skills was attained to a great extent. The program was able to increase literacy as evident in the successful passers of the alternative learning system accreditation and equivalency (ALS A&E) test. After completion of the program, the ALS passers improved their quality of living by engaging in jobs or entrepreneurial activities that increase financial stability, participating actively in community events and social gatherings, cultivating  a positive outlook in life and  developing  the passion for pursuing  higher education . The Alternative Learning System A&E program in the Philippines is effective in cultivating the life skills of the recipients. The program has improved the quality of living of the respondents as they continue their pursuit for meaning and significance in life.

Abstract: The Solar Roadway is a series of structurally-engineered solar panels that are driven upon. The idea is to replace all current petroleum-based asphalt roads, parking lots, and driveways with Solar Road Panels that collect energy to be used by our homes and businesses. The renewable energy generated by solar road panels will replace the current need for fossil fuel which is used for generation of electricity as also oil used for driving the vehicles which in turn reduces the greenhouse gases nearly to half. The implementation of Solar Roadways Technology will create the clean energy boom, spurring private investment on a massive scale, with relatively little extra cost. An intelligent highway infrastructure and a self-healing decentralized power grid that will eliminate our need for fossil fuels. Solar Roadways will also features wildlife preservation, the elimination of impervious surfaces, law enforcement, DUI detection, counter-terrorism, etc. It provides a decentralized, secure, intelligent, self-healing power grid which pays for itself. So it’s time to upgrade our infrastructure (especially roads & power grids) with the 21st century technology i.e. “Solar Roadways”.
