Abstract: One of the natural ingredients that have the potential to serve as such an alternative is mangosteen peel. Mangosteen peel is a shell that is discarded by consumers or can be called agricultural waste. So far, the utilization of mangosteen peels is only for tanning leather, traditional medicine, and the making of anti-rust substances and textile dyes. The utilization of mangosteen rind for treatment in Indonesia is still not much, especially as a wound healing. Therefore, researchers are interested in exploring the wound-healing effects of mangosteen peel extract. This experimental laboratory study used a complete randomized design with a post-test-only control group design pattern. The experimental animals used in this study were 32 male Wistar rats, physically healthy, 2-3 months old, with body weight between 200-250 grams. The sample size was determined by the Federer formula, namely: (t - 1) (r - 1) ≥ 15, and the minimum sample size for each treatment was 16 rats. The results showed a significant relationship between the number of fibroblast tissue per visual field in Wistar rats after tooth extraction with the administration of Ethanol Mangosteen fruit peel (Garcinia mangostana L) 50% concentration and Ethanol Mangosteen fruit peel (Garcinia mangostana L) 100% concentration, p=0.008 (p<0.05). In conclusion, Ethanol Mangosteen fruit peel (Garcinia mangostana L) 50% and 100% are effective in accelerating wound healing time after tooth extraction of Wistar rats. Ethanol Mangosteen fruit peel (Garcinia mangostana L) 100% is more effective than Ethanol Mangosteen fruit peel (Garcinia mangostana L) 50% in accelerating wound healing time after tooth extraction of Wistar rats because the flavonoid content in Ethanol Mangosteen fruit peel (Garcinia mangostana L) 100% which helps accelerate wound healing is higher than Ethanol Mangosteen fruit peel (Garcinia mangostana L) 50%.

Abstract: Rice as one the major stable food in Nigeria can help boost the economy of Nigeria. Rice production has not meet the consumption demand of the rapidly growing population. Hence, this review intends to examined the various constraints encountered by rice farmer’s in Northern parts of Nigeria. Currently, Nigeria is not self-sufficient in rice production, but it has the capacity to produce the quantity it needs and even more for export. International organizations and Non-Governmental organizations have contributed immensely in rice production in collaboration with Agricultural Development Programmes in Nigeria which lead to increase in rice production but the increase is not enough for self-sufficient in Nigeria. Nigeria have 5 major rice ecologies: upland, lowland, hydromorphic, deep inland water and mangrove swamps. If these ecologies are utilized optimally, rice importation into the country will automatically stop. If farmers in Nigeria will use rice variety with yield that have the capacity to withstand some environmental stress factors, Nigeria will be self-sufficient.

Abstract: About 350,000 vascular plants (tracheophytes) have the potential to become medicinal plants, but about 10% of them, namely about half a million species, are used as medicinal plants. Red betel leaf is one of the medicinal plants that deserve to be considered as an herbal medicine to replace chemical drugs. This study was designed to determine the effectiveness of ointment from the essential oil of red betel leaves (piper crocatum linn.) in healing wounds in Wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus). This type of research is experimental, with a Pre-test and Post-test group only control design approach conducted from March to November 2022. This research was conducted at Herbarium Medanese FMIPA USU, Pharmacognosy Laboratory of Faculty of Pharmacy USU, and Pharmacology Laboratory of Pharmacy USU. The study sample was 25 white male rats randomly selected, which were divided into five groups (4 treatment groups and one control group) so that one treatment group consisted of 5 rats. Essential Oil Saleb Red Betel Leaf extract (piper crocatum linn.) has several bioactive compounds such as alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, and tannins that play a role in wound healing. The optimum concentration of Essential Oil Saleb of Red Betel Leaf extract (piper crocatum linn.) that can heal cut wounds in white rats is 6%. The highest percentage of healing on day k-14 was in the positive control (Bioplacenton®), which was 95% and followed by 6% v/v extract with a 90% healing percentage. Essential Oil Saleb preparation of Red Betel Leaf extract (piper crocatum linn.) has an ability that is close to Bioplacenton® in the recovery of cut wounds in rats.

Abstract: DNA is a stable and biocompatible molecule due to its chemical and physical properties. Recent advancements in DNA nanotechnology allow the application of DNA origami nanostructures in a wide range of biomedical settings. The methods for the design, synthesis and analysis of DNA origami nanostructures are discussed in this study. One of the major applications of DNA nanotechnology is in therapeutics, as a delivery vehicle for chemotherapeutic drugs (such as doxorubicin and daunorubicin), as well as applications in photothermal and photodynamic therapy, all of which are discussed in this study. The study also discusses design parameters that need to be taken into consideration for the suitability and efficacy of the DNA origami nanostructures for different therapeutic functions.

Abstract: Studies on the length weight relationship of fishes have been recognized as an important aspect in fishery biology study. Data on the length and weight of the fish commonly been analyzed to yield biological information. The analysis of length-weight data has usually been directed towards two rather objects. First towards describing mathematically the relation between length and weight primarily so that one may be converted into the other.Secondly to measure the variation from the expected weight for length to measure the variation from the expected weight for the length of an individual fish or relevant group of individual as indications of fatness, well being, gonad development etc.

Abstract: The study estimated the sex ratio of Puntius sarana from the Godavari River at Nanded region, Maharashtra State. Fish were collected on monthly basis by local fisherman using traditional fishing gear i.e. cast net. The sex population of Puntius sarana found a significant sex ratio male 0.36 and female 0.63 and the percentage of male and female are 33.43% and 66.75%. The ratio was seen fluctuate during year. In general  female seem to dominant in the population.

Abstract: Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne disease that is rapidly increasing in prevalence across the world. In a study done by Bouri, Sell, Franco, Adalja and others in 2012, they analyzed the impact of dengue fever on public health. They found that dengue fever has a significant impact on public health, primarily due to the fact that it is difficult to diagnose, treat, and control. Furthermore, the disease is highly contagious, meaning that it can spread quickly, resulting in outbreaks and epidemics. In addition, the study found that there is a high economic burden associated with dengue fever, as it can lead to increased healthcare costs due to the need for intensive medical care, as well as the loss of productivity from affected individuals. These findings emphasize the importance of public health interventions to control and prevent the spread of dengue fever in order to reduce its impact on public health.

Abstract: Plants are an essential source of potentially beneficial compounds for developing new medicinal drugs. Chromolaena odorata have been reported to have antimicrobial properties because they contain secondary metabolites flavonoid, terpenoid, tannin, terpenoid, alkaloid and phenolic compound. These compound affects antimicrobial activity and have the ability in the wound healing process. Therefore, this study was carried out to formulate and evaluate the antimicrobial cream from C. odorata methanolic extract. The leaves of C. odorata were collected, prepared, and extracted using a standard procedure with 95% methanol. Six formulations from two bases were used to develop an antimicrobial cream from C. odorata methanolic extract. The physical characteristics were evaluated on all cream formulations, such as organoleptic test, homogeneity, creaming properties, centrifugation and thermal cycle test. Determination of pH and antimicrobial activity assessment was observed after 24 hours, one week, one month, two months and three months of storage. All formulated creams were observed with dark green colour, homogenous and fragrant leaves smell. Their appearance was semi-solid, with F1 to F3 being very soft and oily while F4 to F6 being very soft and fatty. Formulation of F4, F5, and F6 was stable in the physicochemical and organoleptic tests. The pH formulated creams were between 4 to 5. Within three months of storage, the result that demonstrated no significant differences were F1 and F3 in pH measurement, F2, F3, and F5 in antibacterial activity, and F1, F3, and F5 in antifungal activity evaluation. In conclusion, out of the six formulations, the F3 formulation had the best stability during storage, antimicrobial activity, and minimal changes throughout the study. Thus, the F3 formulation is suitable as an antimicrobial cream for wound healing treatment.

Abstract: Global vaccination campaign led to the eradication of rinderpest worldwide, which was certified by the Federation of Agricultural Organization (FAO) and World the Assembly of the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE). Since 2011, there has been no case of rinderpest anywhere in the world, but it remains a concern for the re-emergence of the disease. The reasons for the escalated fear about the potential for rinderpest re-emergence include re-introduction is conceivable, through niche replacement or another morbillivirus pathogen spillover. There are five distinct morbilliviruses recognized in the genus including the human measles virus (MV), rinderpest virus (RPV), canine distemper virus (CDV), peste-des petits ruminants virus (PPRV) which affect goats and sheep, phocine distemper virus (PDV). This article provides an overview of the spectacular success in achieving the eradication of RPV and reviews the various methods adopted in the eradication campaign which could be used to eradicate other viruses of the same genus.

Abstract: Globally, the zeal to develop vastly-enriching gluten-free, scrumptious therapeutic food forms from multiple botanicals, processed into different flour mixes increased after COVID-19 outbreak. The microbiological and techno-functional properties of unfermented and fermented sweet potato, maize and pigeon pea were accessed using customary test protocols for food-based products in order to appraise their nutritional status as flour mixes providing alternative to wheat flour. Samples purchased in their dry forms from food vendors, were validated, subjected to processing and a portion was fermented naturally. Results of the techno-functional properties revealed that the unfermented pigeon pea had the highest percentage of carbohydrate (80.0%) while the fermented pigeon pea had the highest percentage of protein content (11.44%). The fermented flours showed significant improvements in protein constituent, water and Oil absorption capacities when compared with the unfermented flours for all samples. All unfermented flours showed higher foaming capacity. The microbiological assessment showed that the unfermented maize flour had the highest microbial load followed by the fermented sweet potato flour and the bacteria isolates includes Streptococcus feacalis, Staphylococcus aureus, Lactobacillus casei, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Staphylococcus saprophyticus, Bacillus cereus and Staphylococcus epidermidis while the fungi isolates includes Mucor mucedo, Penicillum italicum, Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus fumigatus, Aspergillus nidulans, Aspergillus niger, Bdellospora helicoides, Candida stellata, Schizosaccharomyces pombe and Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Staphylococcus aureus and Saccharomyces cerevisiae had the highest prevalence percent. The techno-functional properties of all the flours play significant roles in manufacturing, transportation, storage, stability, texture, taste and flavor of food products. Therefore, we recommend that countries with comparatively-advantageous agro-bioresources experiencing massive post-harvest losses, could utilize these findings for the purpose of using their flour mixes to produce various gluten-free food meals.

Abstract: Electronic health (eHealth) holds the promise of revolutionizing health care by improving its efficiency; extending and enhancing its reach; energizing and engaging patients [1], clinicians and other stakeholders; and improving health outcomes. eHealth includes a wide range of technologies, services, and processes that are used to support the delivery of health care services and the management of health information. These technologies include electronic medical records, telemedicine, mobile health applications, and other digital health applications. eHealth can help improve access to health care, reduce costs, and improve the overall quality of care. Abstract:  The use of Allium Sativum (garlic) for the treatment of various microbial infections of the human body has been an age-long practice, however many bacterial organisms have developed resistance to most conventional antibiotic drugs. The aim of this study was to demonstrate the effectiveness of aqueous garlic extracts against bacterial keratitis caused by   Staphylococcus aureus and Psuedomonas aeruginosa . The study was carried out both in vitro and in vivo. The in vitro study was carried out to measure   zones of inhibition and the minimum inhibitory concentrations while the in vivo study was done to assess the effect of the extracts on the cornea.  The data obtained were analysed using the Analysis of Variance at a significance level of P<0.05 and tested against the research hypothesis. The in vivo  results showed  that the  aqueous garlic extracts were effective in treating the keratitis caused by the two microorganisms(p=0.00). 0.3% Ciprofloxacin eye drop was more effective in treating the microbial keratitis than the aqueous garlic extracts. The in vitro results showed that the micro organisms were sensitive   to aqueous garlic extract and their sensitivity was concentration dependent. It is therefore safe to conclude that aqueous garlic extract is effective in treating bacterial keratitis.

Abstract: E-health can be defined as a set of technologies, applied using the Internet, where healthcare services are delivered to improve quality of life and facilitate healthcare delivery. Due to the lack of similar studies on the subject, this analysis uses a systematic literature review of articles published between 2014 and 2019 to identify the most commonly used eHealth practices worldwide, as well as the main services offered, the diseases treated and associated technologies, who support in eHealth practices. One of the main results was the identification of the four most used practices (mHealth or mobile health; telemedicine or telemedicine; technology; and others) and the most used technologies related to e-health (IoT, cloud computing, big data, security and systems).

Abstract: Studies on reproduction of Neon tetra were carried under controlled conditions. Neon tetra is a species popular for keeping in aquaria. It was established that spawners of this species produce viable gametes during a few (5–6) spawning periods only; later, although they get involved in reproduction viable issue cannot be obtained from them. From the breeding perspective fish of that species should be reproduced again shortly after the completed spawning and that time should be from 5 to 15 days. Excessively long keeping the fish between spawning periods results in a significant deterioration in quality of gametes expressed by the decreased number in obtained issue. It was shown that before spawning spawners should be kept in water at 22^oC. The negative effect of keeping the reproducers in water at 25^oC accumulated with time.
