Abstract: Eucalyptus globulus is an economically important tree of the Myrtaceae family. Its wood is used for construction, furniture, fuel, plywood, tools, and utility poles; leaves possess medicinal properties; flowers are a source of nectar; and wide-spreading, dense root system is important for soil stabilization. The species is characterized by a high coppicing potential. The growth of coppice shoots is limited by many factors, such as parent tree species, size and abiotic conditions. This study was aimed at quantifying the regeneration performance of shoots (including number of shoots, number of leaves, leaf length, leaf width, number of branches, and shoot height) from the stumps of E. globulus seedlings drawn from two diameter classes, namely 1 – 4 mm and 5 – 8 mm. Data were collected three months after the initiation of treatments and subjected to analysis of variance. An increase in stump diameter resulted in increases in the number of leaves, leaf dimensions, number of branches, and shoot height. Though existent, the trend was not statistically significant for number of shoots. The results indicate that shoots from larger stumps have a stronger regenerative ability than counterparts from small-sized stumps. This study provides essential information relevant to seedling coppice management in E. globulus.

Abstract: Very little is known about the biodiversity of mononchid nematodes of Mizoram. A survey led to the recovery of a new species and a known species of Iotonchus from Mizoram, India. The soil samples are processed using Cobb’s sieving and decanting method followed by modified Baerman’s funnel technique. Iotonchus champhaiiensis n. sp. is characterised by small body, almost straight or slightly arcuate post vulva body, smooth cuticle, prominent labial papillae, offset lip, distinct amphid, barrel shape buccal cavity, dorsal tooth at around posterior half of buccal length from stoma base, toothless subventral wall, two foramina, distinct secretory–excretory pore, prodelphic reproductive system, short conoid tail, broadly rounded tail terminus, tandem caudal glands and terminal spinneret.

Abstract: Background: Commiphora gileadensis, a medicinal plant with traditional use, is gaining recognition in scientific research for its potential therapeutic applications. Objective: This study aimed to investigate the acute toxicity profile of Commiphora gileadensis methanolic-aqueous extract in rats, focusing on mortality, body weight changes, and hematological parameters. Methods: Rats were orally administered with varying doses of the extract, and acute toxicity was assessed by monitoring mortality and body weight changes. Hematological parameters, including leukocyte populations and red blood cell indices, were analyzed to elucidate potential systemic effects. Results: No deaths were observed in rats treated with the plant extract, and no statistically significant differences were found in body weights between the treated and control groups. In addition, no significant difference was shown in white, red blood cell counts and hemoglobin. However, the extract showed significant changes in some blood parameters, including neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, hematocrit, mean corpuscular volume, mean corpuscular hemoglobin, and red cell distribution width, platelet count, and mean platelet volume. Conclusion: This research contributes valuable insights into the acute toxicity of Commiphora gileadensis methanolic-aqueous extract, providing a foundation for future studies on its safety profile.

Abstract: The acute toxicity profile of Euphorbia taifensis Methanolic-aqueous Extract in rats was investigated in this study. The objectives were to determine its oral median lethal dose (LD₅₀), assess its effects on body weight changes, and evaluate its impact on hematological parameters. The LD₅₀ was determined through oral administration of the extract at a concentration of 2000 mg/kg. No mortality occurred, and no signs of acute toxicity were observed throughout the experimental period. Body weight changes were monitored for 14 days, and no statistically significant differences were observed between the E.taifensis-treated rats and the control rats. The study evaluated the impact of E. taifensis extract on blood parameters. While white blood cell counts remained stable, neutrophils and monocytes increased significantly, and eosinophils decreased. Red blood cell and hemoglobin levels were unaffected, but red cell indices notably changed. Additionally, the extract significantly affected platelet count and volume. In conclusion, Euphorbia taifensis extract showed no acute toxicity at 2000 mg/kg, with no mortality or significant body weight changes observed. Hematological analysis revealed the extract may have diverse effects on blood parameters, warranting further research into its potential therapeutic applications.

Abstract: This study aims to determine interaction effect, type and level of fermented durian fruit seed flour on the Performance and Physiological Response of goat Kacang. The experimental design used was a group randomized factorial pattern repeated 4 times.TBDFı: concentrate 1% + TBDF (Average 0.25%) 0.5% of concentrate TBDF2: concentrate 1% + TBDF (Average 0.50%) 0.5% of concentrate TBDF3: concentrate 1% + TBDF (Average 0 .75%) 0.5% of concentrate TBDF4: concentrate 1% + TBDF (Rte 0.25%) 0.5% of concentrate TBDF5: concentrate 1% + TBDF (Rte 0.50%) 0.5% of concentrate TBDF6: concentrate 1% + TBDF (Rte 0.75%) 0.5% of concentrate. The variables are Performance and Physiological.The results are interaction between fermented durian fruit seed flour had no effect on performance and physiology. Giving fermented durian fruit seed flour does not have a real effect on weight gain, efficiency, respiration and pulse but has a real effect on dry matter consumption and rectal temperature. While the level of giving fermented durian fruit seed flour has a significant effect on body weight gain, rectal temperature and pulse. However, it has no real effect on dry matter consumption, efficiency and respiration. Based on the results, it can be concluded that the use of fermented durian fruit seed flour does not have a real effect but is still within the normal range of the performance and physiological response of goat Kacang.
