Abstract: The discovery of novel materials with specific properties will always complement the advances in technology. The concept of polymerization for the synthesis of organic and inorganic polymers has evolved a new scope for synthetic products, but the most serious objection by environmentalists against such polymers is their non-biodegradability. Hence, the “bio-degredable polymers” advertised for the use of renewable resources for polymer synthesis to bring forward the concept of environmentally benign chemistry. The natural oils conceptualized their major role not only in the fluid hydro-dynamics but also in polymer synthesis that can be new tailor made class of biodegradable polymers.

Abstract:  Phycoremediation” is one of pollution control technologies that use physical and biological systems to remove the pollutants and biodegradation or transformation of various toxic chemicals to less harmful forms. Industrial pollution is the major cause for degradation of environment around us affecting the water we use, the air we breathe and the soil we live on. The exponential increase in industrialization is not only effecting large areas of agricultural lands, but simultaneously causing serious environmental degradation of soil as well. Water pollution causes loss to soil, plants, human and animals and spread epidemic and chronic diseases. As a part of study effluent samples were collected from a highly polluted region of Gayathri Sugars Pvt. Ltd. situated at Adloor yellareddy village, Sadashivanagar mandal of Nizamabad district in Telangana  for  analysis  of  physico-chemical and biological parameters. The Objective of the present work is to evaluate the efficiency of algae for removal of heavy metals. The present study aimed at a comparative study of phycoremediation before and after treatment of industrial effluent. As algae is used as source of food it is necessary to remove the heavy metals present in industrial effluent ,which is possible using not only higher plants but also employing some genera of algae. In the present experimental work BGA and green algae like Chlorella, Scenedesmus ,Spirogyra, Cladophora and Oedogonium, Spirulina, Anabaena, Lyngbya, Oscillatoria were employed in removal of heavy metals from industrial effluent.

Abstract: Seaweed, being a rich source of basically different bioactive compounds with significant nutraceutical properties, can be used as an ingredient to supplement nourishes with functional compounds. The vitamin examination proposes that the marine red alga Botryocladia leptopoda  is rich in vitamin C and vitamin B complex. Consequences of the investigation proposing that the B. leptopoda have high nutritional value and hence it could be used as a nutritional supplement.

Abstract: Zingiber zerumbet (L.) Sm. is an important medicinal plant belongs to the family Zingiberaceae and it is commonly known as Bitter ginger, Pine cone ginger, Pine cone lilly. The present study aimed to estimate the phenols and flavonoids in the crude methanolic extract of rhizome and to assess the in vitro antioxidant activity by using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and 2,2’-azino-bis (3-ethyl-benzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) radical assay. The phenols like gallic acid, hydroxyl benzoic acid, coumaric acid, vallinic acid and cinnamic acid and flavonoids like rutin, quercetin, kaempferol and luteolin were estimated with various quantities (mg/g). In vitro antioxidant activity of the extract was determined in terms of hydrogen donating or radical scavenging ability using the stable radicals DPPH and ABTS. IC50 values are 181µg/mL and 90µg/mL for DPPH and ABTS respectively. The findings of the phytochemical and antioxidant properties of this plant are indeed highly valuable to promote the use Z. zerumbet as natural sources of potential antioxidant.

Abstract: The objective of the present study was to evaluate the physicochemical, phytochemical constitution, Thin Layer Chromatography and antioxidant activity of ethanolic extract of whole plant of Waltheria indica(Linn.) Various physicochemical parameters such Total ash value, Water soluble ash value, Acid insoluble ash value. Qualitative analysis of Phytochemical constituents’ viz. tannins,  saponins, flavonoids, steroids, alkaloids, quinones, terpenoids and cardiac glycosides. Thin layer chromatography it revealed the presence of various phytoconstituents like alkaloids, carbohydrates, phytosterols,Saponins, and proteins.

Abstract: Betulinic acid, a triterpenoid isolated from the bark of Ziziphus Jujuba exhibited insect growth regulating activity of the IV and V instar larvae and Zero hour pupae of Papilio demoleus. The larvae were treated tropical application with 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 μg/μl doses concentrations of Betulinic acid, in solvent acetone and observe the effect on ovarian development and ovarian maturation. Ovarioles showed a considerable reduction in length and exhibited morphological and histological abnormalities. Comparative anatomical and histological studies of the treated and untreated ovarioles revealed that there was inhibition in the development of ovarioles. The untreated Papilio demoleus showed normal ovarioles with large amount of yolk in the oocytes localized in the vitellarium portion. However Betulinic acid affected ovarioles showed disrupted structures of the germarium and vitellarium with either complete or partial damage of few or all oocytes. Untreated ovarioles revealed accumulation of large amount of yolk in the oocytes whereas in case of Betulinic acid treated ovarioles, the yolk was markedly reduced and acquired several vacuoles indicating the resorption of the yolk or reduction in its synthesis. The results demonstrated that Betulinic acid causes rapid cessation of oviposition due to disruption of ovarian structure and inhibition of oocyte growth following topical treatment on of Papilio demoleus.

Abstract: Air pollution has own peculiarities due to its transboundary dispersion of pollutants over the entire world. In any well planned urban set up, industrial pollution takes a back seat and vehicular emissions take precedence as the major cause of urban air pollution. In the present study, Air pollution tolerance index was calculated for various plant species growing at Government Arts College, Chennai, India. The results showed significant effects of various air pollutants on the vegetation in terms of four biochemical parameters analyzed. Four biochemical parameters, which are leaf relative water content, Ascorbic acid content, total leaf chlorophyll content and leaf extract pH were used to compute the air pollution tolerance index values. On the basis of air pollution tolerance index values for above mentioned four tree species, Polyalthia longifolia exhibited the highest degree of tolerance at all the sites followed by Peltophorum pterocarpum, Guazuma ulmifolia and Morinda tinctoria.

Abstract: Environmental enrichment is a process of enhancing the physical or social environment of an animal, and it is design to provide expression of natural species-appropriate behaviour of captive animals. Objects such as perches, straw-bale, mirror, dust bath, audio- visual tools and pecking devices are used to enrich the poultry environment. Environmental enrichment help in limiting stereotypical behaviours such as cannibalism and pecking in poultry,  which have impact on the health, welfare and performance of broiler chickens. This study aimed at studying the effects of varying perches height on performance of broiler chickens. 288 Parodex line in a commercial broiler farm in Jalingo were used for period of 42 days. Varying perches height T0, T1,T2, T3,T4 and T5  with 8 replications were used to examine the effects on performance. The effects of varying perches height in the present study has no effects p>0.05 on the performance of broiler chickens. However, T4 shows optimal improvement in the body weight and feed conversion ratio 92g, 252g, 407g and 1.81, 1.54 and 1.60 at d0-d21 respectively. In order to draw final conclusion, future research is needed to examine the effects of varying perches height using different perches type and height.

Abstract: Claisen–Schmidt condensation has been carried out for the synthesis of some substituted benzylidene acetophenones under microwave irradiation is based on solid phase, solvent free protocol. In the present investigation, condensation has been carried out in the presence of basic alumina, instead of normal bases like NaOH or KOH, which makes the process eco-friendly, economic and easy and becomes a part of green chemistry.

Abstract: The paper deals with the indigenous knowledge of local inhabitants on medicinal plants used to cure various diseases and ailments available in Udayagiri Hill (Sanjeevini Hill) situated in Udayagiri town, Nellore District, Andhra Pradesh. A total of 250 plant species belonging to 80 families are documented. Among the Angiospermic families, Fabaceae is the dominant one with 37 plant species (14.8%); followed by Apocynaceae –14 (5.6%); Euphorbiaceae-12 (4.8%); Poaceae-12 (4.8%); Rubiaceae-10 (4.0%) and Amaranthaceae - 9 (3.6%). Acanthaceae, Lamiaceae and Verbenaceae with 7 species each (each 2.8%); Cucurbitaceae, Malvaceae and Moraceae 6 species each (each 2.4%); Liliaceae, Phyllanthaceae and Asteraceae-each 5 species each (each 2.0%). While 2 families represented by 4 species each; 9 families represented by 3 each; 12 families represented by 2 each and the rest 36 families were represented by one species each. The ethnobotanical data obtained from local inhabitants revealed that 113 diseases find curative chemical constituents in 250 plant species.

Abstract: Entomopathogenic fungi are the most important natural biocontrol agents of many insects. The awareness of harmful effects of chemical pesticides on man and environment indicates the need of biopesticide. Manyentomopathogens have been found to play an important role in insect pest management and efforts have been stepped up by researcher’s world over to exploit their potential for large-scale field use. It is being increasingly recognized and accepted that effective formulations and appropriate delivery systems are keys to the success of microbial control. The different treatment for additive  study  were Beauveria bassiana + Sunflower oil ,  Beauveria bassiana + Ground nut oil,  Beauveria bassiana + Glycerol,  Beauveria bassiana + Ginger oil,   Beauveria bassiana alone. The efficiency of the additives was sorted out using drop technique with 4 reps of 10 Corcyra cephalonica larvae in each replication. The efficacy of B. bassiana on various additives showed efficacy on B. bassiana and B. bassiana with glycerol, Sunflower oil, groundnut oil, and Ginger oil efficacy were compared.  The mortality LT 50 were observed, lethal time for 50% larvae to mortality was Beauveria bassiana + Sunflower oil.

Abstract: Aquatic macrophytes are predominantly grown in water. These are considered as important constituents of aquatic ecosystem. The survey has been carried out to investigate the marshy and aquatic macrophytes of Singabhupalem lake, T.S. 61 species belonging to 52 different genera of four groups of aquatic plant life, Algae (3species), Bryophytes (2 species), Pteridophytes (4species) and Angiosperms (52 species) were recorded. The name of the species, family and habitat of the marshy and aquatic macrophytes has also been noted in the present paper.

Abstract: Ethnobotanical studies of magico-religious plants used by Khampti tribe were carried out in 6 villages of Lakhimpur district of Assam. The information was gathered through questionnaires and discussion. A total of 48 plant species belonging to 30 families and 44 genera were observed to use in different magico-religious practices. The documented plants were grouped into three use categories. Maximum of plant species (75%) were used in sacred and religious rites followed by taboos (33.33%) and magical belief (12.5%). On the basis of plant parts used, leaves were the most dominant part with 17 plant species. Among documented plants, Ziziphus jujube was the most culturally significant plant.

Abstract: Routine proteolytic assays employ different developing reagents where the clarity of the hydrolyzed zone is not very sharp and distinctly visible. We here present an easy and improved assay to detect the presence of extracellular protease on milk agar plates. In the following method, 10% tannic acid was flooded post incubation on agar plates and observed for any zone of hydrolysis. The result of the present study clearly defines the method to be highly sensitive for detection of any extracellular protease produced by bacterial cells.

Abstract: Endophytes are microorganisms which present inner parts of plant tissues, without causing any adverse effect. The purpose of this work is to investigate the potentials of phytochemical, antimicrobial, larvicidal activity and study the relatedness of endosymbionts in medicinal plant (Punica granatum). Phytochemical activity shows the presence of alkaloids, tannin, protein, amino acid, carbohydrates, coumarin, saponin, leucoanthrocyanin whereas emodine, Phcobatannin are absent. The antimicrobial activities of crude fungal methanol extract are tested against gram positive and gram negative bacteria by well diffusion method. It show a inhibition zone against test bacteria and in plant leaf solvent extract of ethanol, chloroform, acetone, water are examine for its antimicrobial activity against test organism. Symbiotic relationship of host- microbes revealed that has good relationship between fungi and host bacteria.
