Abstract: In the present work, a total of ninety seven (97) randomly selected residential buildings across sixteen (16) linked villages of Rijau city were investigated. Solid track detectors; CR-37 were each exposed for a period of twelve (12) months after which they were etched and analyzed to determine their respective track densities. The detectors were etched in a 6.25 M solution of NaOH at 90 ^oC for 3 hours. The concentrations were used to compute exposures to dwellers and other radiological parameters per dwelling. Result of the survey yielded least, average and peak radon concentrations of 158.00±28.38 at Gyalle Area, 125.61±24.10 and 87.67±16.26 Bqm^-3 at Low-cost Area respectively. This translated to least, average and peak Annual Effective Dose of 2.66, 3.13 and 3.99 mSvy^-1 respectively. When compared with the standards set by International Centre for Ionizing Radiation (ICRP), both the measured Concentration and consequent Annual Effective Dose were within safe limit. The result from this work shall serve as a baseline radon data in the study area.

Abstract: The topic of the study was: Water Quality Assessment in the Gippsland Region, case study Snowy River and compare it with Tambo River. This analytical study was conducted on two rivers of different characteristics due to the difference in geographical location between them. Four different sample areas were identified at upstream and four other locations at downstream of the estuary, to assess water quality. Data were collected to determine the quality of river water through the use of three main methods, as follows: The chemical readings of the YSI360 to extract water temperature, dissolved oxygen, electrical conductivity and ph. In addition to the HI-98703 device to measure the turbidity of water. Finally biological analysis of samples. It has been observed that the study in both sites have different natural properties that are closely related to the water condition that affected the water quality in both places. The results of the water quality indicators measurements show constant numbers, especially the temperature and turbidity level, which indicates that the River contains an indication of its quality. The results of this study also indicate that Site 1 contains fair water with greater diversity in terms of relative biological richness. Site 2 contains results showing good water quality ratings. However, the measurement values ​​were significantly higher than at site 1, with biomarkers relatively low compared to site 1. Human activities such as agriculture and grazing of cattle have reduced the layer of plants, especially the area near the site 2. This excessive exploitation of land in the region contributes to a lack of vegetation and increased waste in the area, which makes recovery difficult if these activities continue at site 2. It is worth noting that Site1 has a vegetation range, which has contributed to the diversity of water components unlike Site 2, which is characterized by sand components due to a large loss of vegetation.

Natural characteristics vary between Snowy and Tambo rivers due to their geographical locations. The significant difference between snowy River and Tambo River is that the Tambo values ​​are generally higher than the Snowy River, except for the DO and Turbidity level. Snowy and Tambo have faced deterioration due to human activities such as agriculture and mining that have added burden to both rivers.

Title: Assess water quality in Australia. Case study: Gippsland Rivers

Abstract: This study attempted to develop a food product that is readily available in the locality and thermally process the tilapia in the glass jar added with Coconut Sauce. The final product can be a good viand and an alternative for other protein rich foods, like meat and cheese. Developmental and experimental types of research was uses to produce a new product.  Result of the sensory evaluation showed all the treatments were found to be acceptable in terms of their sensory attributes; however the treatments that was processed for 75 minutes at 121 °C (15 psi) was the most preferred having an average rating of 3.87. The product has cream color, distinct fish odor, spice and coconut odor, slightly salty and sour taste, with soft bones, tender flesh and neither thick nor thin consistency of sauce. The processing time affects the sensory attributes of the product. The thermally processed Tilapia in Coconut Sauce has a good taste and was acceptable to the consumer. The new product can provide energy and a good source of nutrients that are needed by the body.  Furthermore, the product also had met the requirements for commercial sterility, for not having any growth of organism under various condition of the test. Hence this product can be recommended as part of the daily individual diet.

Abstract: The soil acts as a reservoir for millions of microorganisms. Microorganisms play a vital role in maintaining soil fertility and plant health. They can act as biofertilizers. This study aimed at isolating and characterizing plant growth-promoting bacteria associated with the paddy (Oryza sativa, variety - Sugandha), as well as assessing their ability to promote plant growth. Samples were collected from near river Ganga. Sites were dry field, banana field, wetland and stagnant pond areas. Five sampling sites namely S1 (Banana field soil, Hazipur), S2 (Near Gandhi Setu,   wetland area), S3 (Sediment pond), S4 (Vaishali) and S5 ( Sonepur, stagnant pond area) were selected for isolation of microbial strains and total of 111 microbial strains (bacteria) were isolated. The strains were selectively isolated from the population of microbes growing on the nutrient agar medium.   Strains which showed the best result were tested for its’ biofertilizer potential. These strains were S1 (C), S2 (F) and S3 (R). The isolate S2 (F) was selected on the basis of their luxuriant growth on NA with yellow colour characteristics of colony. This isolate showed a wide range of temperature for growth between 4ْ C to 55ْ C which suggests its potential as biofertilizer. The isolate was Bacillus although molecular characterization (16s r-RNA studies) was done to confirm the genus and species of the selected isolate. On the basis of BLAST alignment of the sequenced nucleotides the isolate S2 (F) was identified as Brevibacillus borstelensis. The reported literatures suggest that the B. borstelensis acts as PGPR.

Abstract: Due to increasingly public abuse towards animals, there is need to investigate the perceptions of animal owners on animal rights. This work was to investigate people perceptions on animal rights which may also affects the welfare of the animals. Four hundreds (400) questionnaire eliciting vital information on system of rearing animals, educational background and people perceptions on animal right and welfare were distributed to animal owners in Bali local government area. Data were collected, analyzed and presented in a chart and simple percentage format for easy interpretation. The findings from these research shows that 308 (77.39%) of the respondents knows nothing about animal right while on 90 (22.61%) knows about animal rights. 301(75.63%) suggested that animals should not have rights while 97(24.37%) suggested that animal should have right. This could be attributed to the level of education and socioeconomic background of the farms.it is therefore recommend that serious awareness campaign should be adopted to enlighten livestock owners on animal rights and welfare.

Abstract: As Ghana makes transition into a developed economy, a greater percentage of the population is demanding and eating high quality and safe meat and meat products. The demand heave for meat and meat products needs to be met by increasing supply of neatly packaged meat and meat products in an efficient and convenient package. This study was to determine the influence of open market packaging materials on the marketing and consumption of meat and meat products in Ghana. A total of 210 open market consumers and retailers of meat and meat products in Accra, Kumasi and Tamale Metropolis were interviewed. Data was analysed using SPSS version 16 under descriptive statistics and result presented in the form of tables and charts. Majority (82.6%) of the customers range between the ages of 26 and 40 years. Majority (92%) of open market packaging was plastic type materials. The quality, quantity and packaging of the products had influence on consumers’ choice. About half (47.33%) of the open market consumers were satisfied with the open market meat packaging. Packaging type, packaging materials, convenience and price were factors that influenced purchases. The level of education, income level, religion and age had influence on shopping outlet. Retailers and packaging designers should focus on packaging, packaging designs, certification labels, shopping environment and colour attributes of meat since it influences marketing.

Abstract: This article talks about Long Path Algorithm and the potential of using it to identify unknown genome via Shotgun Sequencing method. The aim of finding the longest possible path in a graph is to find a path that can cover the longest possible travelling distance in a graph, from a known starting node to an unknown ending node. Inside the longest path, individual nodes can either re-occur or not re-occur.

Abstract: A total of 229 plants species were present in the study area. Out of which 35 were trees, 52 shrubs, 110 herbs and 12 climbers, 17 tree trunk vegetation ( in which 7 epiphytes, 5 pteridophytes, and 5 bryophytes) and 3 parasites occurring on stem and on branches of trees and shrubs. The study are divided into two elevations and per elevation four forest habitats as stream bank, dry, ridge and moist habitats. The maximum tree species were recorded on moist habitat at low elevation, stream bank and moist habitats at high elevation (19 spp each) whereas minimum on stream bank habitat at low elevation. The maximum shrubs species were recorded on ridge and at low elevation and minimum on ridge habitat at high elevation. The maximum herbs species were recorded on stream bank, dry and moist habitats (39 spp each) at low elevation. The minimum herbs species was stream bank habitat at high elevation. The maximum Climbers species were recorded on ridge and moist habitats at high elevation (6 spp each) whereas minimum on ridge habitat at low elevation. The mean trees species richness was found maximum on stream bank habitat (6.3±0.2) at low elevation and minimum on ridge habitat (3.5±0.2) at high elevation. The mean shrubs species richness was found maximum on moist habitat(6.1±0.3) at low elevation and mean species richness of herbs was found maximum on ridge habitat (10.3±0.4) at low elevation However, minimum shrubs and herbs species richness on stream bank habitat (3.2±0.3), (6.4±0.3) at low elevation. The mean climber species richness recorded was maximum on moist habitat (1.5±0.4) at low elevation and minimum on ridge habitat (0.7±0.1) at high elevation. The value of similarity was varied from 52.94% - 8 5.71% for trees layer, 48.28% - 75.00% for shrubs layer, and 22.45% - 68.04% for herbs layer and 42.86% - 76.92% for climbers layer respectively. It was high similarity on stream bank and moist habitats in both elevations.
