Abstract: Although sexual reproduction is the most common reproductive strategy in most vertebrates but there is asexual mode of reproductions also being reported in several squamate reptiles. It is perhaps an evolutionary reproductive strategy to avoid immediate extinction where population size is drastically low during colonization in newly formed habitats. Most of the asexual populations are perhaps hybrids gradually originated from their sexual parents due to intense ecological resource competition.

Abstract: The Sexual dimorphism in Shieldtail snake Uropeltis bhupathyi an endemic to Anaikatty hills, Southern Western Ghats of India, has been morphometrically analyzed with respect to variations such as Snout-Vent Length (SVL), Tail Length (TL), Caudal Disc Length (DL) & Width (DW), ventral and subcaudal scale counts. Females (mean SVL = 299.2 + 93.92 mm, n = 19) were found larger as compared to males (230.3 + 61.24 m, n = 13) and variation was statistically significant (F = 5.387, P = 0.027). Significant variations being also observed in TL, DW and in ventral and subcaudal count. The principal Component Analysis (PCA) showed that SVL, DW and DL had high loadings in factor 1, and these may be important parameters in identifying sexes.

Abstract: Damage to post-gold mining land spread across several places, resulting in open, barren land, the soil horizon changed due to excavation, and was very unproductive for plant growth. This can be seen because there are not many types of plants that can live on it. One type of Sengon legume plant is a type of commercial plant that is profitable and is a fast growing type so it is suitable for revegetation of ex-mining land. Efforts that can be made to improve the quality of soil on post-mining land include using mycorrhiza with the addition of compost which can increase the organic matter content. has balanced macro and micro pores so that the circulation produced is quite good and has high water absorption capacity in the soil. This research aims to study the growth and nutrient uptake of sengon seedlings in tailings soil media given various types of mycorrhiza and compost in the nursery. This research uses a variance analysis method with the research method used, namely Completely Randomized Design (CRD) Factorial Pattern which consists of 2 factors, namely the first factor, various types of mycorrhiza M1 (Mycorrhiza mosseae 25 gr) and M2 (Mycorrhiza deserticola 25 gr), the second factor K1 compost (250 gr quail compost) and K2 (swallow bird compost). There were 9 treatment combinations, each repeated 5 times so that there were 45 experimental units. The results of the research showed that the interaction of various types of mycorrhiza and compost had a significant effect on plant height, with the greatest growth obtained in the treatment of Mycorrhiza deserticola 25 gr + Swallow bird compost 250 gr (M2K2).

Abstract: Placodes, specialized thickened areas of the ectoderm, give rise to both sensory and non-sensory structures. Placode induction and differentiation is a multi-step process involving interactions between several organs and signaling pathways. These placodes develop from the pre-placodal region, which encircles the cranial part of the neural plate. They are induced by FGF signaling and inhibited by Wnt and Bmp pathways. Vital sensory organs like the olfactory epithelium, inner ear, and eye lens are formed because of FGF signaling, which is critical for supporting the specification of diverse placodal progenitors. Different placodal types are differentiated simultaneously by regulating the Wnt and BMP pathways, creating epithelial structures like hair, teeth, and breasts. In addition to being essential to developmental biology, understanding the precise molecular mechanisms driving placode induction and differentiation has important implications for research in regenerative medicine and evolution. Further investigation could reveal new information about the complex mechanisms that control tissue specialization and functional variety in vertebrate species.

Abstract: This study was conducted to compare the types of bait in plastic bottled traps for trapping cockroaches and to compare the types of bait in plastic bottled traps for various types of cockroach traps In the houses of the people of Puranawat community, Thawi Watthana District, Bangkok.   In the study, five types of bait that attracted cockroaches including dog chow, cat chow, potato chip, tapioca pellet, and granulated milk were used for the test in 0.5-liter plastic bottled traps.   A number of trapped cockroaches were counted and recorded daily for 3 consecutive days.     Results of bait test in cockroach trap showed that   the cockroaches were caught at an average of 4.16 ± 0.12 per trap per day.  dog chow can trap cockroaches at an average of 5.47 ± 0.05 per trap per day, followed by the cat chow at an average of 5.16 ± 0.13 per trap per day and followed by  potato chip and tapioca pellet and granulated milk.  The number of cockroaches caught was at the average 4.12 ± 0.06, 3.07 ± 0.14 and 2.96 ± 0.21 per trap per day, respectively.  Analysis of the efficiency of baits, it was found that the of dog chow and cat chow were not different in the trapping of cockroaches, but both types of bait were significantly effective in using for trapping the cockroach from other types of baits (P <0.05).    In addition, it was found that the potato chip resulted in the significantly higher trapped cockroach than tapioca pellet and granulated milk (P <0.05). In addition, the results of the comparison of types of cockroaches that can be caught.  It was found that American cockroaches (72.7%) were significantly higher than that of German cockroaches (27.3%) with statistically significant (p <0.05). When considered types of bait, the dog chow can be used to trap American cockroaches (80.2 %) more than other types of bait.
