Abstract: The present report furnishes information on the egg laying site and the oviposition pattern of ischnoceran louse, Penenirmus pici Fabricius, 1798 parasitizing black-rumped flameback, Dinopium benghalense (Linnaeus, 1758). The louse, P. pici exhibited a wide spread ovipositon sites on the host body.The eggs of P. pici are miniature rice grain like pearly white structures in appearance are laid on lateral plumulaceous portion of the vane near the rachis. The eggs remained enclined at 40-45° with respect to the rachis, and a maximum of four eggs were noted on a single feather.

Abstract: A total of 30 different commercially manufactured Milk and Milk Products (MMP) from different manufacturers were analyzed for the presence of B. cereus. Out of the tested samples, 26 number of Dried/powdered milk products (65.4%) showed the presence of B. cereus and zero percent prevalence in the liquid samples.  The study was undergone as per Food Safety and Standard Authority of India (FSSAI) requirements under safety criteria. Analyzed final products of different milk and milk products were found to be in the range as per Food Safety and Standard Regulation (FSSR), 2011 Annexure B and thus were reported as consumer safe.

Abstract: Birds are a very important component in any ecosystem such as prey, predators, pollinators, scavengers, seed dispersals and ecosystem engineers. Decreasing numbers of birds are the sign of threatening the environment and bird population states that we are disturbing the ecosystem or not. An assessment of bird community is important tool in biodiversity conservation and identifications of conservation actions. Having knowledge on diversity and composition of bird communities is also crucial to determine the health status the local ecosystem or regional landscapes. Moreover, identifying the existing threats in a particular area is also essential for developing effective conservation efforts and management actions. So the conservation of the avian community is a too important aspect for maintaining the balance of the ecosystem. Some studies are conducted on the diversity; distribution and abundance of birds predominantly in protected areas such as National parks. However bird species composition, distribution, abundances and the threats that affect them are poorly understood in many regions of the country including the present study area.

Abstract: Medicinal plants have been traditionally utilized by marginalized communities for curing a broad range of health conditions. In traditional medicine, a range of well-being issues are addressed by utilizing different tissues from medicinal plants. . Each tissue of these medicinal plants produces variety of secondary metabolites with pharmacological effects. These tissues  also harboures many endophytes that stimulates the growth and secondary metabolite production by the plants. The medicinal plants namely Andrographis paniculata, Abutilon indicum, Ipomea lacunose Aeglemarmelos,Ocimum,Withania sominifera ,Tinospora are some of the important medicinal plants with a variety of applications like anticancer properties, immunomodulatory effects, anti-hepatotoxic qualities, anti-atherosclerotic attributes, anti-hyperglycemic potential, and antioxidative activities, anti-hyperglycemic potential, anti-convulsant activity and larvicidal activities These medicinal plants have demonstrated the existence of promising endophytic strains with potential applications for enhancing crop growth and addressing oxidative stress. This study aims to uncover the diversity of endophytes residing within these medicinal plants

Abstract: Bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is one of the most important food crops cultivated in a wide range agro-ecologies of Ethiopia. Drought remains an ever-expanding problem that has adverse effects on growth and crop production globally, and demands integration of biotechnological and conventional approaches. Somaclonal variations induced by tissue culture can be used for improving drought tolerance of bread wheat. To evaluate drought tolerance, a factorial experiment using 5 levels of polyethylene glycol (PEG) 6000 and 3 bread wheat genotypes was carried out in the tissue culture laboratory of Mekelle Agricultural Research Center. Highly significant effects were observed due to genotypes, PEG levels used and their interactions for traits such as regeneration percentage (PRP), shoot number (SN), shoot length (SL), root number per shoot (RPS) and root length (RL). This indicated the presence of  genetic variability and differential responses of genotypes to PEG simulated drought. The results obtained from the mean comparisons of genotype by PEG interaction showed that increasing PEG concentration in the medium significantly reduced the above measured traits. The current study suggests that genotypes G3 (SHARP/3/PRL/SARA//TSI/VEE#5/5/VEE/ LIRA//BOW/ 3/BCN/4/KAUZ/ 6/HUBARA-5) and G2 (NESMA*2/14-2//2*SAFI-3/4/PASTOR//HXL7573/2*BAU/ 3/ WBLL1) were relatively drought tolerant genotypes, while genotype G1 (FLAG-6/ICARDA-SRRL-6) appeared to be drought sensitive at the highest level of PEG concentration.
