Abstract: The purpose of the study was to determine the level of organizational performance among employees of a public university for the year 2016. The findings served as basis for proposed measures for enhancement. The areas of concern include the profile of the research respondents in terms of personal characteristics and professional characteristics, it also involved the level of organizational performance in terms of human resource practices; culturetraits; leadership style and organizational efficiency. Furthermore, it determined relationship between profile and human resource practices; profile and culture traits;  the profile and leadership styles; human resource management practice and culture traits; human resource management practice and leadership style; leadership style and organizational efficiency; and culture traits and leadership style. It also improved the factors affecting the organizational performance of the employees from these findings, enhancement proposed. This study revealed the following findings: most of the respondents belong to the stage of Adulthood. It is in this stage that they have achieved satisfaction and fulfillment. For the professional characteristics, the findings disclosed that most of the faculty and employees are concerned of their professional growth and development. For the level of organization performance, it was found out that organizational efficiency is always practiced and so there is a need to maintain the said practice for the benefit of the organization. The conclusion of this study has drawn that contingency theory of organization has its essence in the paradigm that effective results fit the organizational characteristics to its different contingencies such as environment, organization size and strategy. Therefore the conclusion has proven the contingency theory of organization.

Abstract: This study aims to identify the opportunities, threats, strengths and weaknesses of bamboo craft companies in Timor Leste as the basis for developing suitable business strategies in order to improve marketing performance. The SWOT Analysis and External Internal Matrix are the approaches utilized to determine the business position of Instituto Bambu, IP, Timor Leste by involving four of their business strategy planners. The analysis shows that the opportunities of this business are: market demand, prices of substitute products, new entrants, consumer preferences, government regulations, economic conditions, and socio-cultural communities. Furthermore, the strengths of this business are: product quality, product design, product differentiation, facilities and technology, pricing, price flexibility, distribution channels, public relations, and personal selling. Meanwhile, the weaknesses are: modification of distribution channels, advertising, promotion sales, and promotions through social media. After the SWOT analysis, the mapping of the business position in the IE Matrix can be conducted. The mapping results show that Instituto Bamboo is in cell I, meaning that in the future the Institute Bamboo should implement a selective growth strategy, namely through innovation strategies, product development strategies, market development strategies, pricing strategies, strategies of promotion through social media, and distribution strategies to improve their marketing performance.

Abstract: This study examines the impact of Corporate Governance on Environmental Information Disclosure of Listed Cement Companies in Nigeria. Data were extracted from the annual report and accounts of the listed cement companies for the period 2008-2017. Board independence, Board size and Board meetings was used as a proxy for corporate governance. In order to measure the extent of environmental information disclosure, the annual reports of the firms were analyzed through content analysis and the study analyzed the data using descriptive statistics, correlation and multiple regression technique via STATA 13.0. Findings from the study revealed that board independence, board size, board meetings and firm size has a positive significant relationship with environmental information disclosure. It is recommended that companies should pay more attention to corporate governance mechanisms in terms of board independence, board size and board meetings in order to improve environmental information disclosure and financial reporting council of Nigeria should make environmental disclosure mandatory especially for companies that their operation’s are hazardous to the environment so as to have a uniform way of disclosing information regarding environment of a firm.

Abstract:  Entrepreneurship is considered a key factor for economic growth and the development of a country. This is because it has the potential of creating millions of job opportunities. Entrepreneurship provides opportunities in offering a variety of consumer goods and services, and generally help in reducing poverty in the society. Because of this positive effect of entrepreneurship, in the recent two decades entrepreneurship education has grown rapidly all over the world including in Afghanistan. In the middle of this development remains the issues and challenges confronting the Afghan youth, ranging from severe poverty, youth unemployment and dependence of youth solely on government jobs. This paper therefore argues the importance of entrepreneurship education in Afghanistan for empowering youths to be self-employment, to create decent job and to contribute to the well-beings of society.This paper adapted the design thinking and system thinking approach to solve the youth problems in Afghanistan through understanding their needs by building and developing business models using tools such as Business model canvas (BMC) and Value proposition design canvas (VPC). The approach includes conducting literature review and interviews for understanding the key problems; formulating and ideating initial business model options in solving the problems; and validation of business model by interviewing the customer segments. Finally, the main contribution of this paper is to provide a conceptual business models, validated BMC and VPC, and implement humanising Entrepreneurship education programmes in Afghanistan in order to nurture youths with the knowledge, skills and virtues. This paper also contributed on how to educate youth in Afghanistan to become responsible entrepreneurs who can startup their own businesses and hence contributing to the societal  well-being.

Abstract: The objective of this study is to analyze the challenges faced by SMEs in need of financing in developing countries, with a focus on Nepal. In Nepal, the SME sector is a major economic player and therefore, reinforcing the responsibility of this sector in the national production is a major strategy of the country. High loan rates and high collateral requirements remain a big obstacle in the access to finance to SMEs and hence in the development of the economy. However Nepal’s expedited license and permits grant system and the contribution of female workforce in the SME sector remain its strong points that can be exploited for a faster growing SME sector. Recent policy reforms helped in the creation of an environment in which the SME sector can flourish. However, efforts for promotion of SMEs are confined to the urban centers in regional headquarters and lack the ability to carry out their mission. The increasing numbers of branches, opened in rural areas, by the commercial banks have also been lukewarm because these financing institutions are more focused on transferring rural savings to urban sectors than using them for improving the local entrepreneurial efforts. A lot needs to be done for the promotion of Nepal’s troubled SME sector, which, if properly taken advantage of, can offer a lifeline to its difficult economy.

Abstract: Solid waste management is the collection, treatment and disposal of solid materials that are discarded by purpose or no longer useful. Inadequate collection, recycling or treatment and uncontrolled disposal of waste in dumps can lead to severe hazards, such as health risks and environmental pollution. This study examined the effect of project management practices on performance of solid wastes in Kericho County. Specifically the study sought to; analyze the effect of project: planning, risk, stakeholders, policies on performance of solid wastes projects in Kericho County; using the theories of: theory of waste management, stakeholder theory, prospect theory and zero waste theory, all which relate to solid wastes management. The study adopted descriptive research design and the target population was 200 staffs.  The study specifically sought information from county SWM heads and workers as the main respondents, since they directly managed SWM projects. The research study also adopted, a simple random sampling technique, so as to ensure that results were not unbiased. The study found that project planning had a significant, direct relationship with performance of SW projects. Project stakeholders also had a significant strong direct relationship with performance of SW projects. As for project risk, the study found a significant moderate relationship with performance of SW projects in Kereicho County. And finally project policy had a significant but weak correlation with performance of SW projects in Kenya. All the Predictors were significant and explained 52.6% change in performance.

Abstract: Project sustainability, especially in the agricultural sector, has continued to receive great scholarly attention. Like all other projects, agricultural projects rely on effective Monitoring & Evaluation to ensure their sustainability. Yet sustainability of projects is still a major challenge in many developing countries. The study established the influence of monitoring and evaluations on sustainability of women-based agricultural projects. A case of Joywo Uasin Gishu County. The study specifically; examined the influence of M&E communication advocacy, M&E financial capacity, M&E human capacity and M&E frameworks on sustainability of women based agricultural projects. The study was informed by Utilitarian Theory and Theory of Social Change.  The study adopted a descriptive survey design with mixed approaches. The target population was composed of 219 women-based agricultural projects. Stratified and random sampling techniques were used to select 116 representative samples from the sub county governments. The study used a Five- Point Likert scale questionnaires and interview schedules to collect data. Both  descriptive and inferential statistics were used. The regression coefficient indicated the relative significance of the independent variables. The study established that women based agricultural projects that are high performers are without doubt effective communicators. As well, when the budget is all inclusive, that it takes into consideration the funds for monitoring and evaluation and those of the overall project, the eventual outcome is project sustainability. Also, sustainability of women based agricultural projects is attained when training has been made on monitoring and evaluation use and implementation. Further, planning has led to the sustainability of women based agricultural projects. It was therefore recommended for M &E managers to ensure there is regular communication between the M&E management and the employees in monitoring. Also, organizations need to strike the right balance regarding the M &E budget, it should not be too little to affect the credibility and accuracy and not too much to interfere with the activities of the project. In addition, M&E capacity building should focus not only on the technical aspects of M&E, but also address skills in leadership, financial management and communication. Finally, there is need to conduct monitoring and evaluation before planning.

Title: INFLUENCE OF MONITORING AND EVALUATION ON SUSTAINABILITY OF WOMEN BASED AGRICULTURAL PROJECTS. A CASE OF JOYWO UASIN GISHU COUNTY

Abstract: The Public Private Partnership Projects are important in implementation of diverse projects in the public sector as the model assist in the achievement of cost efficiencies, tapping into private sector capacity for efficiency, innovativeness, risk management, technical expertise, economies of scale, and management acumen. The PPPP is also associated with creation of a platform for government to undertake projects despite shrinking budgets for such projects. However, despite the advantages and benefits of the PPPP there have been diverse performance challenges in these projects. Kiambu County has several PPPPs projects including development of Muguga agri-city. The city is meant for the agriculture focused industrial park. Other PPPPs in county of Kiambu include the county government of Kiambu partnership with Sasini to revive the production of coffee and Macadamia nuts. These projects continue to face diverse performance challenges such as quality of the projects, cost overruns and community disagreements amongst others. This study examined the influence of project planning, community management, project monitoring and project funds management as the project management practices , on the performance of public private partnership projects in Kiambu County. This study utilized the ex post facto research design. In particular, the study will utilized the correlation research design type. The target population of this study comprised of 440 respondents drawn from county government of Kiambu as senior officials and community representatives. A sample size of 205 was used comprising of 175 community representatives and 30 officials. Structured questionnaires were used for the study to collect data. Descriptive statistics and inferential analysis was conducted. The study found that; project planning, community participation, project monitoring, and project funds management had positive significant correlation with project performance. However project planning and community participation depicted a high magnitude of correlation while project monitoring and projects funds management had a moderate magnitude correlation.  The four predictors accounted for 68.2% of change in performance. The study also recommended that similar studies to be done in other counties to confirm the results. Further the study recommended further studies to identify the other project management practices that explain the 31.8% change of performance.

Abstract: This study investigated the role of HRM planning as a part of HRM that is one of the support activities in Porter's value chain on the effects of brand elements on brand equity among public listed companies in Jordan. Despite the significant development in branding globally and its role in increasing the equity of the companies. The main aim of the research was to answer a number of questions: Is there an effect of brand elements: names, Logos, Slogans and Signage / Packaging on brand equity? Is there a mediating role of HRM Planning on the effects of brand elements on brand equity? A quantitative approach was adopted in this research. A questionnaire was developed and administered for collecting data from the sample. 153 questionnaires were distributed using cluster sampling method to the marketing officers of the public listed companies that appeared in the sample, (148) retrieved and (146) were accepted for analysis. Data analysis took place to examine the study variables and test hypothesis using (SPSS). After conducting data analysis and hypotheses, the study found that brand elements have effects on brand equity with a mediating role of HRM planning on these effects. Based on the findings it is recommended that Jordanian public listed companies pay more attention to branding and brand elements due to the positive influence that they have on brand equity. It also recommended paying more attention to HRM Practices due to the positive influence on the effect of brand elements on brand equity.

Abstract: The necessity of projects in any business or industry of any kind is inevitable today and its success is paramount to the organizations who’s vision is to sustain in the long run among its competition and to gain competitive advantage. Hence It is very important to understand the significance of stake holder’s role in the project success by the project champion or the project manager and also by the whole project team. The project can be any kind but the role of stake holders are crucial and this factor was not widely given importance in the practical project execution scenarios and hence this is contributing to the improper implementation and misalignment of process results vs project objectives. Abstract: Microfinance institutions in Kenya are currently registered under eight different Acts of Parliament; The Non Governmental Organizations (NGO) Co-ordination Act, the Building Societies Act, the Trustee Act, the Societies Act, the Co-operative Societies Act, The Companies Act , the Banking Act and the Kenya Post Office Savings Bank (KPOSB) Act. Some of these forms or registrations do not address issues regarding ownership, governance, and accountability. They have also contributed to a large extent to the poor performance and eventual demise of many MFIs because of a lack of appropriate regulatory oversight. This paper aims to identify whether the absence of a regulatory framework has had any effect on the outreach and sustainability of microfinance in Kenya. This paper concludes that that the major challenge hindering outreach and sustainability of micro finance institutions in Kenya is lack of specific legislation and set of regulation to guide the operation of microfinance subsector. Also, the paper creates a platform where further insight can be provided through empirical research.

Abstract: Managing of conflict among the employees within the telecommunication industry in Kenya is has been a challenge as a result of conflict which arises because of diverse composition of workforce which becomes difficulty for the human resource managers to effectively resolve. This study aimed at evaluating the influence of compromise strategy on the performance of telecommunication industry in Kenya. The study utilized a descriptive research design. A cluster sampling method was used to sample a population of 120 respondents comprising of human resource managers and support staff. Data was collected using questionnaires and analysed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The study found that compromise strategy and organizational performance had a significant relationship. The study concludes that compromise strategy enables that organization to effectively manage and resolve disputes arising from the employees very fast and stopping the possibility of escalating differences thus promoting a positive tolerant workplace culture. The study recommends that compromise strategy should be utilized mostly in a situation whereby both parties are ready to reach a mutual agreement.

Abstract: The success of any strategy is hinged on its implementation. Though, most Organizations come up with elaborate strategic plans, implementing them may be a challenge. This study aimed at determining the influence of management structure and performance of County government of Kericho. Descriptive survey research design was adopted. The accessible population comprised of 102 employees who were sampled using stratified sampling method to obtain a sample size of 85. Primary data was obtained using questionnaires which was analysed using descriptive analysis and regression analysis. The study established a positive significant effect on management structure and performance. The study concluded that allocation of tasks and resources allocation was highly affected by the structure of the management. The study recommended that structure in terms of human resources and allocation of tasks must be considered because they contribute to the performance of the County and also there is need to evaluate the structure of the management of the County to evade bureaucracy.
