Abstract: The study objective was to establish the extent to which Board Diversity influences performance of Deposit Taking SACCOs in Kenya. The study was based on the domain of corporate governance and anchored on the theoretical postulations of Resource Dependence Theory. The purpose of the study was to enrich the existing knowledge about embracing board diversity to enhance performance. Understanding the influence of board diversity is crucial in suppoting the development of corporate governance realm in both policy and academia spheres. The study adopted descriptive cross-sectional survey and correlational research designs. The study used proportionate stratified and simple random sampling technique to select a sample size. Data was analysed through descriptive statistics, content analysis, Pearson’s correlation, hypotheses testing, and regression analytical approaches. Findings suggest an overall correlation coefficient for Board diversity and performance of deposit taking SACCOs in Kenya. The study concluded that there is a significant relationship between Board diversity and performance of deposit taking SACCOs in Kenya. The study recommends that dertemination of board size should be depedent on organisational operations and existing regulations. Further, more women in boards to ensures diversity, legitimacy and build trust. Separation of roles and capping the directors’ incentive act to safeguard stakeholders’ interest. Areas for future studies are exploration of other dimensions of board diversity in different contexts to corroborate these findings.

Abstract: Counterfeit consumption has been on an upsurge globally aided by comparative higher trade margins and increasing demand for renowned brands at lower prices. Social cultural factors have been found to play a major role in the growth of the trade as they influence the intention hence purchase of such goods. Findings on what motivates this trade are not yet not conclusive, necessitating further study. The objective of this study therefore was to investigate the effect of social cultural factors on the purchase intention of counterfeit mobile phones. The study applied an explanatory research design among university students, with a target population of 500 drawn from young and middle generations within universities in Kenya.

A well-structured questionnaire with a 5 point Likert scale was used as the data collection tool and simple random methods used to collect the data. Cronbach’s alpha was used to test for the instrument reliability. The study adopted positivism research paradigm to collect data from the target population. Excluding missing data and outliers from the 500 students sampled, data collected from 450 respondents were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics analysis in the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) to determine the relationship of social cultural factors and purchase intention with the significance of the relationship being tested at 95% confidence level (P=0.05). The results revealed that Social cultural factors have positive and significant effect (ꞵ=0.579, r² = 0.332, P<0.05) on consumer purchase intention towards counterfeit mobile phone among the young and middle aged generations in Kenya. This study will help government agencies to understand some new ways to combat the illicit trade as well as mobile phone marketers who will devise ways to fight against the unfair competition posed by fake products.

Abstract: Taal Volcano suddenly erupted last January 12, 2020, affecting different industries around the area of the eruption. These unforeseen scenarios have an adverse effect on restaurants located in Tagaytay City. The researchers aim to know the challenges that the restaurants encountered and what coping strategies they did to cope with the damages and losses that the Taal volcano eruption bring. The study is a qualitative type of research and used a snowball sampling technique to gather information about the study. The researchers interviewed 5 participants. The results of the study reveal that businesses lost a lot of income and some restaurants reduced their employees to cope with this, restaurants adapted to the situation and move forward to make strategies that would help them to recover the damages or losses. Online selling and deliveries became their call back to recover from the damages that the eruption brought.

Abstract: The objective of this study is to analyze the challenges faced by SMEs in need of financing in developing countries, with a focus on Bangladesh. In Bangladesh, the SME sector is a major economic player and therefore, reinforcing the responsibility of this sector in the national production is a major strategy of the country. The main source of financing for SMEs in Bangladesh are commercial banks, however the constant monitoring required with loans forward to SMEs, problems of recovering the loan amount and the high risk associated with low returns as compared to industrial loans, make SME financing appear far less attractive to the commercial banks. Despite the heavy presence of SMEs outside of metropolitan areas, SMEs with a closer proximity to big cities get more advantage of these loan schemes. The major portion of financing provided to SMEs goes to the SMEs in urban areas. The main challenges facing banks when offering loan facilities to SMEs is the lack of good quality collateral, lack of appropriate documentation and poorly defined business plans. The usually high interest rates charged for SME financing, quality collateral requirements and guarantee obligations combine to make access to financing difficult for SMEs all over the country.

Abstract: In many countries in sub-Saharan Africa, inadequate political accountability and transparency, coupled with ineptitude leadership and bad governance remain a major challenge in many nations and more often than not, it has led to political unrest. To deal with political unrest, economic empowerment is unavoidable and it depends on the accountability of political leaders. This study sought to effect of leader accountability on economic empowerment of low income households in Siaya County. A descriptive design was applied in the study. The population for this study was 166,460 households in Siaya County. The study employed quota random sampling with each constituency in Siaya County having an equitable share of sampled households depending on the number of households. This method led to a sample of 384 households. The study used primary data which was both quantitative and qualitative. This data was collected through semi structured questionnaires. Quantitative data was analyzed through statistical tools which generated frequency distributions, percentages and mean scores. The analyzed data was presented using charts, graphs and tables. Qualitative data was analyzed through thematic summary analysis and presented through prose. The study found that leaders in Siaya County are not generally accountable to the electorate for their actions. Leader accountability is important since leaders are given authority by the electorate. In addition, leaders in the county were seen to lack in transparency, communication of policy decisions, poor in teamwork, poor in relationship building, and lacking in personal effectiveness. This lack of openness and accountability to the residents of the county was perceived by the residents to contribute to poor economic advancement of the county. The study recommends that leaders should be accountable to their followers and electorate. The electorate also should demand accountability from their leaders. This can be done through having proper channels of communication between the leaders and electorate and also ensuring that best practices are always followed. Leaders should be transparent and open in their dealings. They should also have the ability to consistently exercise good and clear communication. On the sender side of leadership communications, the ability to articulate ideas and vision, inspire, provide feedback, espouse practical philosophies and values - are all necessities. The electorate should look for such qualities in selecting leaders.

Abstract: Now particularly in the hospitality industry establishment are slowly hiring senior citizen or person with disabilities to become more productive and prolong their working life. The aim of this study is to identify the Factors Affecting Senior Citizen Work Engagement in Selected Fast Food Chains: A Manager’s Perception. This research focused on quantitative data by conducting surveys to selected mangers to get their perception towards the factors that may affect their senior citizen employee’s work engagement. Abstract: Online Food Applications such as Food Panda and Grab Food have become some of the most downloaded applications in the Philippines. They are well known for the convenience they offer and their user-friendly system. The researchers aim to determine the demographic study of customer preference in using online food applications. The study is qualitative and used snowball sampling and online food application users. The researchers have interviewed 20 participants; the results show that participants ages 19-22 years old use online food applications because of their convenience and accessibility. Also, most of them agreed that discounts affect customers' decision-making in ordering. The results indicate that online food applications have increased due to the pandemic compared to the variables used in the analysis. The most critical aspect that has a significant effect on online food applications is convenience and restaurant choice.
