Abstract: Small and Micro Enterprises (SMEs) play an important economic role in many countries. In Kenya, for example the SME sector contributed over 50% of new jobs created in 2005. Despite the big role SMEs play in the economy past statistics indicate that three out of five businesses fail within the first few months of operation (Kenya National Bureau of Statistics, 2007). Causes to the failure include limited market access, limited access to information, finances and technology and unfavorable policy and regulatory environment among others (ROK, 2005).  The Council of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) and the Council of the National Board of Accountants and Auditors of Tanzania approved the use of IFRS for SMEs in 2009 yet majority of SMEs in Kenya have not implemented IFRS for SMEs. The study sought to carry out an investigation on the factors affecting the implementation of IFRS for SMEs in Kenya. Implementation of IFRS for SMEs is very crucial since SMEs contribute greatly to the economic development of a country. The research was carried out at Thika town Kenya since the town is an industrialized. A sample of 135 finance managers was done since they were directly and indirectly involved in the running of business of the firms. A questionnaire and interview guide were used to collect the data. A response rate of 89% was obtained. The study revealed that there is a positive relationship between the implementation of IFRS for SMEs and education and training skills of finance managers, availability of finance and awareness of IFRS for SMEs of magnitude0.217, 0.064 and 0.202 respectively. The positive relationship indicates that there is a correlation between the factors and the implementation of IFRS for SMEs in Kenya. This infers that education of finance managers has the highest effect on the implementation of IFRS for SMEs, followed by availability of finance and then awareness of IFRS for SMEs. The study found out that education and training affected the implementation of IFRS for SMEs and that majority of the respondents had not attended any form of training on accounting it therefore recommends that training policies should be introduced to the SMEs finance managers.

Abstract: This study is an empirical investigation of creative accounting practices in the Kenya. Creative accounting is carried out with an objective of making the company appear to be financially stronger or weaker depending on the management’s aspirations. There has been a corporate failure which has become a major issue with respect to firms worldwide which has been attributed to excessive practice of creative accounting. The general objective of the study was to evaluate the influence of creative accounting practices on the financial performance of public limited companies listed in the Nairobi securities exchange in Kenya. This study considered tax avoidance, accelerated depreciation, and income smoothing as part of the major creative accounting practices that influence financial performance of public limited firms listed in the Nairobi securities exchange in Kenya. The research used both descriptive and inferential statistics to examine the major practices of creative accounting that influence financial performance of public companies listed in the Nairobi securities exchange in Kenya. The target population of this study was top management of public limited companies that is the CEO, directors, top managers and accountants. A sample of 30 public companies was drawn using purposive sampling. Logistic linear regression technique was used to analyze the relationship between creative accounting practices and financial performance and the correlation between the variables and financial performance. Quantitative approach through the use of questionnaires was adopted to help in the collection of primary data for analysis purposes. The secondary data was collected from NSE handbook relevant text books, finance journals, financial statements and the website of public limited companies that were be sampled. Statistical Package for Social Sciences Software (SPSS) was used in carrying out the multiple regressions to establish the relationship between creative accounting practices and financial performance and the correlation between the variables and financial performance. Financial performance was measured using earning after tax. The study found a strong relationship exists between creative accounting practices and financial performance. The study revealed that R2 was 0.633 meaning only 63.3% of the factors affecting financial performance among firms listed at the Nairobi Securities Exchange in Kenya as represented by the model while 36.7% was caused by other factors outside the model. Thus the study reveals that creative accounting practices have a significant effect on the financial performance of a company and most companies used it abusively hence resulting in most collapses of many firms.

Abstract: As per data available, mobile phone market penetration in Afghanistan has approached 90% at the end of 2013 which is quite a phenomenal growth rate, given the most difficult environment of Afghanistan in terms security issues, lack of infrastructure, chronic electricity shortage, internet access and policy initiatives of government till 2013. Recently this mobile phone market is booming due to positive developments concerning adoption of new technology by the telecom regulator, issuance of 3G license, adoption of 4G technology and issuance of Wi MAX license etc. Also, majority of population under young age category is one of the important factors leading to growth of sales of different brand of mobile phones in Kabul, Afghanistan. Because of these reasons, most of the known brand like Samsung, Apple, Huwaei, Sony, Intex etc. are focusing on this booming market. This study is undertaken to analyze different objective and subjective factors and their various combinations which are considered as important by the customer of Kabul before making a purchase decision of a particular brand of mobile phone.

Abstract: The aim of this study was to empirically develop ARIMA-GARCH models for Kenya inflation and to forecast the rates of inflation using the historical monthly data from 2000 to 2014.

The empirical research employs time series analysis, ordinary least square and auto-regressive conditional heteroscedastic to find the estimators.

The forecasting inflation analysis have been conducted using two models,  the ARIMA (1, 1, 12) model was able to produce forecasts based on the stationarity test and history patterns in the data compared to GARCH (1,2) model. The empirical results of 180 monthly data series indicate that the combination between ARIMA(1,1,12)-GARCH(1,2) model provide the optimum results and effectively improved estimating and forecasting accuracy compared to the other previous methods of forecasting.

Abstract: Foreign Direct Investment as a strategic element of funding is required throughout India for achieving the financial reforms and continues the pace of development and progress of the economy. The pace of FDI inflows in India at the start have been low as a result of regulatory strategy framework and schemes but there is a strong upward push in investment flows since 2005 as the new policies have broadened. In this paper, we discover how FDI is noticeable as an important economic catalyst of Indian monetary progress by stimulating domestic investment, growing human capital formation and by means of facilitating the technology transfers. The essential purpose of this paper is to investigate the effect of FDI on fiscal growth in India.

Abstract: The Paper deals with Impact of corporate governance on corporate reputation. The aim of this paper is to show that corporate governance factor influence on corporate reputation and to test the relation between corporate governance and corporate reputation. The results have direct implications for the management of corporate governance mechanisms by shareholders which should take into account its role in the creation and maintenance of corporate reputation.
