Abstract: Since many years, there were numerous attempts in search of alternatives to traditional materials like Aluminium, Steel and Plastics used excessively in vehicles. The objectives behind these trials were to increase the strength, durability of materials leading to safety along with increase in speed of automobiles. Carbon Fiber composites have emerged as excellent option in order to provide consumers with a lighter, higher-performing, and more efficient vehicle. Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymers (CFRP) which are lighter than the conventional materials. Here we discuss about feasibility of usage of CFRP in each parts of car in Chasis-Frame, Bonnet, Body, Suspension etc.

Abstract: The prosthetic socket plays an essential role in since it forms the mechanical interface between the residual limb (stump) and the prosthesis. Selection of the socket material greatly influences the mechanical performance of the socket. The objective of this study which is to investigate the performance of candidate materials (Teflon and and Polyvinyl chloride) in manufacturing prosthetic sockets. Using computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) processes and 3D scanner, a model of a prosthetic was generated. The model was investigated using finite element analysis. The socket performance in terms of stress, strain and safety factor were calculated and compared with the performance of sockets made of conventional polyethylene (HDPE) and Polypropylene (PP) materials.

Abstract: In this project we discussed about the invention and modification of hmc fixture. The fixture is work piece holding device the hold also tool. The fixture is very expensive so it will handle very carefuly. sometime fixture not work in complicated work piece so that time new advance fixture is innovate, first we design the fixture part by cad drawing, analyse each and every part, solve problem of fixture, minimize deflection those thing are include in modification so they are important, all these thing we done and Understand in grandeurs engineering pvt ltd. We work under the skill operator of industry and finally design the new part drowning on the computer aided drafting, we do analysis and get result. The new fixture has improve stability, productivity, and reduces the deflection. It gave efficient performance.

Abstract: Success of many organization’s depends on the quality of services provided to the customer. Vehicle maintenance is categorized in two types which is preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance. And that maintenance in most of the cities in Tanzania and especially Mbeya region is held at dealers (formal) or local (informal) garages located in different areas of the city. Preventive maintenance is the kind of maintenance which is done based on the scheduled dates fixed in agreement between either the garage or dealer and the customer, while corrective maintenance is the kind of maintenance or repair done to the vehicle after fault has occurred.

With currently change in technology most of the maintenance and repairs conducted in local garages has been claimed to be of poor quality. The study has looked on the factors which lead to those challenges on the quality delivered by local garages (informal garages) and the case study was local garages located in Mbeya city.

Total of 97 respondents who are mechanics, customers and owners of different informal garages were given questionnaires. The results has demonstrated the followings reasons to be the factors which lead to poor quality delivered to customers; the reasons are Lack of right equipment for repairing, No formal education on repairs and maintenance, No genuine spares, working environment, Lack of incentives. Further it was noticed that most of the reasons mentioned are within the control of the garage and can be rectified.

Based on the reasons for the poor quality delivered by many informal garages to their customers, it is advised to the owners of the local garages to introduce the Customer Relationship Management and quality section in order to control the quality of the service delivered and to manage feedback of the services delivered to their customer.

Title: FACTORS LEADING TO QUALITY RELATED CHALLENGES FOR INFORMAL GARAGES: A CASE STUDY OF MBEYA CITY, TANZANIA

Abstract: This research analysed the bending moment of rectangular thin plate having all edges simply supported. The analysis was accomplished through the development of the mathematical model for bending moment acting along X and Y-axis of a rectangular thin plate using the improved finite difference approach by the method of higher approximation. The improved finite difference model for bending moment was developed using Taylor’s series expression. The results obtained using the model for X and Y-axis was compared with the ordinary finite difference solution and the exact solution to check the accuracy of the newly developed model. The results emerging from the improved finite difference model for the X-axis showed an average percentage error of -0.048% to the exact solution while the result emerging from ordinary finite difference model showed -3.035% from the exact solution. The result of the improved finite difference for the Y-axis showed an average percentage error of -0.798% while the ordinary finite difference showed -0.912% to the exact solution. Hence the results suggest that the improved finite difference model approximated closely to the exact method than the ordinary finite difference; thus the improved finite difference model proved to be more accurate than the existing ordinary finite difference model. Therefore the improved finite difference model developed for bending moment is effective and is recommended for use in structural engineering.
