Abstract: One of the effective methods for transferring thermal energy with large heat flux is liquid-vapour phase change process is called boiling. The aim of this research is to enhance nucleate pool boiling heat transfer by delaying critical heat flux (CHF). For this we have used Al₂O₃ and C_uO (average size less than 100nm) nanofluid to study the effect on pool boiling heat transfer and its effect on critical heat flux enhancement using horizontal test wires of Ni-Cr immersed in nanofluid with different volume concentration. The result shows the evidence of enhancement of critical heat flux to a significant level.

Abstract: NASA’s Hubble telescope will revolutionize our understanding of the galaxy. The concept of a large telescope in space is as old as the space program itself. In a classified study in 1946, Lyman Spitzer first articulated the scientific and technical rationale for space astronomy. He continued to be the champion of the dream of a large telescope in space until it was realized. Supported by colleagues John Bahcall, George Field, and others, Spitzer was a tireless advocate within the astronomical community, to the public, and to the Federal Government. The outcome was a “new start” for the mission, authorized by Congress in 1977.

In this paper we summarize the development of Hubble telescope including working, assembly, inspection and maintenance.

Abstract: Assembly Line Balancing is the problem of assigning operations to workstations along an assembly line; in such a way that the assignment be optimal in some case. The minimization of the number of workstations and maximization of the production efficiency are the most common goals in the line balancing. In this article two heuristic approaches are applied which are Ranked Positional Weight and largest candidate techniques. And also reviews of different article in the area of assembly line balancing techniques and tries to find out best techniques. The aim of this article is focusing on increasing the accuracy of standard time by time study and rearranging the work arrangement among the operators and work stations through line balancing techniques and comparison of the efficiencies and delay times in two techniques which are applied in the garment industry for the purpose of solving garment problems. By taking different consideration like, number of stations, task time and cycle time to reach final conclusion.

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to design and fabricate a heat exchanger trainer that has the capacity to alter it type of flow from parallel to counter flow and vice versa. the scope of this study is to fabricate a heat exchanger for the mechanical engineering laboratory of the lyceum of the Philippines University - Cavite. the procedure heat exchanger must undergo several trials. actual data from the testing will be compared with the theoretical values to determine the accuracy of the trainer. The limitation of the study is that cross-flow heat exchanger is not included. the researchers used water as the working substance. this study contributes to the students in providing a deeper understanding about heat exchangers. the study may also be significant to other researchers who would like to improve the research.

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to develop a new form of existing nail gun with more efficiency. The scope of this study is to develop a pneumatic hammer connected to an air compressor. The procedure in testing the efficiency of the pneumatic hammer underwent several trials. There were users who did the monitoring to check its efficiency, the result of using it, and the advantages and disadvantages of having this kind of device. The limitation of the study is on the wood that was used. Nail No. 4 was used in the study. This study is applicable only for men hence, they are the ones only allowed to operate the pneumatic hammer. This study is beneficial to the users and the students who will use the developed machine. The study may also be significant to the researchers who would like to further research on the development of similar equipment.

Abstract: The purpose of this research is to identify the correlation between the amount of voltage generated to the body mass index (BMI) number by performing the lateral pull down using the home gym equipment. The home gym equipment was customized by connecting a simple generator set-up, where the car alternator is used as the generator and the equipment as the prime mover of the assembly. The experimental method was used in the study and used the Pearson correlation coefficient to test the correlation of the voltage generated and to the body mass index number of the thirteen participants, which are all males and with age between 16 to 22 years old, assuming that there is a linear correlation between the two parameters. The thirteen participants performed the lateral pull down routine up to their limit of endurance or until they decided to stop. The duration of the individual’s exercise was recorded to compute for the total voltage generated. The result shows that the value of Pearson correlation coefficient, which is equal to 0.558, is greater than the critical value which is 0.553. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a moderated positive correlation between the amount of voltage generated to the body mass index number of male participants. It is recommended to improve the assembly by using permanent magnet for the generator and to test the correlation by performing other forms of routine applicable using the home gym equipment.

Abstract: Functionally Graded Material (FGM) characterises to a class of advanced material in the category of composite materials which has variation in properties as the volume of the material varies. The overall properties of FMG are excellently unique and different from any of the individual material that composes it and also from conventional materials. it has vast and wide variety of applications for FGM and it is expected to decrease  the cost of the material processing and also the manufacturing processes. In our experimental work we mainly concentrated to produce FGM by powder metallurgy processes and applying it for specific area of application. Recent research studies are mainly focussing on the processing and applications of functionally graded materials. New processing routes for metal-matrix functionally graded materials (FGMs) and structures through combinations of powder metallurgy are described. Pure Aluminium of 98% purity with 100 microns size with good fluidity and corrosion resistance is taken as matrix material and Silicon carbide as reinforcing material and to increase bondage between mixed ratios from one another Zinc stearate is acted as binding agent for manufacturing of FGM. the specimens are blended elementally using compaction machine followed by sintering through tubular furnace using Aluminium, silicon carbide and zinc stearate. The specimens are then tested for their mechanical properties such as compression strength, hardness and also examined for tribological properties.

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to design and provide a pathway that will automatically operate when there is flood in a certain area where the prototype is placed, to help and provide convenience to the people that will pass by in the area.  It is a closed loop system and fully automated device, which is composed of power source, water level sensor, floater valve, limit switches for up and down movements hydraulic motor with another two limit switches, hydraulic hoses, hydraulic cylinder and the pathway. The limitation of the study is that the load that the system can withstand is limited to one two persons in one are at the same time. It is recommended that in the inclusion of environmental measures, one to be considered is to seal the oil tank, hydraulic hose and the hydraulic cylinder to avoid the leaking and the engagement of the hydraulic oil into the flood water and to install an alarm or buzzer so that the people will be advised that the system is elevating or depreciating.

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to develop a simultaneous device that can remove five lug nuts at the same time. The scope of this study is to design and select the materials. The procedure of the test will be to set the torque wrench in using the simple lug wrench and the purpose device. The findings show that the device was more convenient than the simple lug wrench. The limitations of this study include the vehicles having 5 lug nuts with 114.3 mm itch diameter. The focus of this device is on removing and tightening of wheel nuts only. This study contributes to the cars users and auto repair shop industry. The study may also be significant to the researchers who would like to do further the research.

Abstract: In recent years, the need for renewable energies keeps on increasing. Thus there is a need to improve the methods for harnessing the renewable energy such as wind. One such improvement is Diffuser Augmented Wind Turbine (DAWT). Our main objective of this research paper is to optimize the Diffuser design of DAWT and to determine the maximum velocity obtained inside the diffuser for placing the blades to achieve more power output. Diffuser designs are simulated using Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) software ANSYS Fluent with wind inlet velocity of 5m/s and the values are compared to get a optimized model to achieve good power output. From the results, that Diffuser with flanges gives higher performance with blade located at 0.13m from the entry of diffuser which is of 1m in length. A significant increase in power is obtained which is higher than the conventional wind turbine.
