Abstract: This article is a bibliographical review of the muffler used in automobile industry. A muffler (or silencer in British English) is a device for reducing the amount of noise emitted by the exhaust of an internal combustion engine. This noise is reduced as the transmission loss (TL) inside the muffler increases. Different components are present in the muffler for transmission loss like perforated tubes, absorption materials etc. by which noise is reduced. This review depicts about transmission loss characteristics, different methods used in the design, calculation and construction of muffler both experimentally and in practical. Transmission loss using sound absorption material is the main feature in this review. Different sound absorption materials that are currently used for noise reduction are quoted and described.

Abstract: This article is to develop a specialized artificial support structure for knee joint by sustaining not only knee joint load but also ankle joint load which is transfer to knee joint and also to give strength to tibia to reduce pain of patient and to reduce effort for work after total knee replacement surgery. In presently available brace, they only concentrated on knee joint loading and neglecting other loads such as load transfer from ankle joint to knee joint. Loading on knee joint is controlled then life of components and total knee replacement will be increased. To reduce stress on knee joint bracing is need to be introduced after the total knee replacement surgery, so that it should sustain all the external stress and loads without dislocation of brace for perfect alignment. Artificial support structure for knee joint model is generated in the software, “Creo Parametric 2.0” by developer PTC inc. Generated model is then exported to ANSYS 14.5 software for analysis. 6 materials are analysed on ANSYS.

Abstract: The present paper proposes the use of Poka-Yoke (Mistake proofing technique) and Knowledge based engineering, two lean enablers for product design and development. Few lean enablers can be used for lean product design and development. We have made rules for design and development of threading taps using these two lean enablers which can help develop web based application along with Microsoft SQL Server for lean product design and development.

Abstract: The Distributed Operating Systems focuses mainly on the concept of “shared memory”. The term “shared memory” means each device connected in network has its own private memory. So in distributed system the data stored in distributed manner or say data is not localized at one centre location it is stored in distributed manner. Distributed system consist of set of process managing resources and  connections between these processes and mappings of events controlling this distributed operating system into processes managing resources. The distributed operating system is one which looks like an ordinary centralized operating system but works with different independent processing units called central processing unit (CPU).

Abstract: Composite materials are materials made from two or more constituent materials with significantly different physical or chemical properties, that when combined, produce a material with characteristics different from the individual components. The individual components remain separate and distinct within the finished structure. The Composite materials based on the metals are said to be the Metal Matrix Composites. Metal composite materials have found application in many areas of daily life for quite some time. Often it is not realized that the application makes use of composite materials.

This research attempt is made to evaluate the sustainability of composite material such as FRP and CRFP epoxy/glass for the purpose of automotive transmission application using finite element method in Ansys. Initially literature review will be done to understand the approach. 3D model will be prepared to carryout analysis on model. Structural and vibrational analysis will be done by implementing different layer orientations on FRP & CRFP’S.

Abstract: One of the most difficult challenges in engine technology today is the urgent need to increase engine thermal efficiency. Higher efficiencies mean less fuel consumption and lower atmospheric emissions per unit of work produced by the engine. In 1862 a Frenchman Alphouse Beau de Rochas gives his theory regarding the ideal cycle of the internal combustion engine. This theory is applied by a German engineer named Nikolaus A. Otto, who firstly built a successful four-stroke SI engine in 1876. The four-stroke combustion cycle later became known as the "Otto cycle".

In four stroke engine, the piston executes four complete stroke within the cylinder, and the crankshaft completes two revolutions for each thermodynamic cycle.

The disadvantage of the four-stroke cycle is that only half as many power strokes are 2 completed per revolution of the crankshaft. The capacity of the four stroke would be 340cc only. Less torque is generated during the process. Pollution is more in four stroke engine.

In six stroke the engine captures the exhausted heat from the four stroke cycle and uses it to get an additional power and exhaust stroke of the piston in the same cylinder. This heat is used to generate the steam from the water which is further used as a working fluid for the additional power stroke. This steam will forces the piston down.   As well as extracting power, the additional stroke cools the engine by water and removes the need for a cooling system making the engine lighter and giving 40% increased efficiency over the normal Otto cycle. The pistons in this six stroke engine go up and down six times for each injection of fuel. These six stroke engines have 2 power strokes: one by fuel, one by steam.
