Abstract: In this age of knowledge economy, polytechnics play an important role in the development of a country. As government subsidies to polytechnics have been decreasing, more efficient use of resources becomes important for polytechnic administrators. This study applied Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) to assess the performance efficiency of the academic departments at Tamale Polytechnic during the years 2003/2004 - 2014/2015. All the academic departments in the Polytechnic were sampled in the study. The study identifies inputs and outputs, which were used in the analyses of mainly secondary data from the Polytechnic. Findings and results from the study shows that seven out of the twelve department management units (DMUs) in the Polytechnic were being run efficiently whereas the remaining five were not being run efficiently. The efficient DMUs were using just the needed amount of inputs to produce their present levels of output. On the other hand, the inefficient DMUs were not adequately utilising their inputs in the production of their outputs. The findings offer insights on the inputs and outputs that significantly contribute to efficiencies so that inefficient departments can focus on these factors. It was recommended, among other things, that for the inefficient DMU to be efficient, management should adjust both inputs and outputs so that they will be equal at most the efficient levels.

Abstract: The study dealt with definitions of types of differential equations, the definition of the system of linear differential equations, the dynamic system and the solutions of some types of differential equations. The study concerned with the types of applications of linear and nonlinear differential equations systems. The study focused on some of the dynamic systems and stability (stability) in the dynamic systems and solutions Jacoppin equations for the values of self-propelled and self-propelled vectors (Jacobin: Eigenvalue and Eigenvector). The study focused on the applications of dynamic systems including predator-prey system (Predator - prey system) and epidemic (Epidemic) and the balance in the ecosystem and other applications.

Abstract: In this paper the finite Fourier cosine transform is presented to obtain solutions for Klein-Gordon equations. The finite Fourier cosine transform method was successfully applied to Klein - Gordon equation. The initial-boundary value problems for the Klein-Gordon equations are solved on the half range. Such problems posed on time-depend domain. The results reveal that the finite Fourier cosine transform is very effective, simple, convenient and flexible.

Abstract: After a brief review of the golden ratio in history and our previous exposition of the fine-structure constant and equations with the exponential function, the fine-structure constant is studied in the context of other research calculating the fine-structure constant from the golden ratio geometry of the hydrogen atom. This research is extended and the fine-structure constant is then calculated in powers of the golden ratio to an accuracy consistent with the most recent publications. The mathematical constants associated with the golden ratio are also involved in both the calculation of the fine-structure constant and the proton-electron mass ratio. These constants are included in symbolic geometry of historical relevance in the science of the ancients.

Abstract: Shell model calculations with BCS theory were performed to study the first exited states and the reduced transition probabilities  for the A= 78 chain of isobars by employing the MSDI as a residual interaction between two quasiparticles, in the pure configurations and the configuration mixing for all allowed states on the full valence space . The core is taken at  for all nuclei under study and the results of our theoretical calculations are compared with the most recent available experimental data. It was found that the shell model using BCS theory and MSDI is still one of the most suitable models to carry out, such as calculations, and taking configuration mixing into consideration, enhances considerably, the results, more than the case of pure configurations when comparison with experimental data, and we found success for MSDI as a residual interaction even when the valance nucleons is large.

Abstract: The nonlinear refraction and nonlinear absorption of dye R2 were studied by the Z-scan technique. Continuous wave (cw) argon ion laser was employed to study the nonlinear response of this dye at several laser powers, solution concentrations and wavelengths. The results established that the R2 displayed a saturable absorption (SA) character and self-defocusing effect. Optical limiting behavior was also studied as a function of concentration and laser wavelength. The limiting threshold values were estimated for the dye solutions at different concentrations and at different laser wavelengths. Our study clearly shows that the R2 dye is excellent nonlinear material with large nonlinear response may provide the basis material for devices in optical applications.

Abstract: The methods that were employed in this paper analyzed HIV data. The aim was to evaluate the evolution of HIV positive patients to bring out some significant factors associated with this pathology on individuals in Kiambu county, Kenya. Many clinical situations can be described in terms of the conditions that individuals can be in, how they can move among such states (transitions), and how likely such moves are (transition probabilities). State transition models were monitored by serial measurements of CD4 cells per unit volume mm³ of blood in an HIV patient as a tool for modeling HIV disease progression. WHO disease staging system for HIV infection was used to analyze data. HIV progression was analyzed through the application of a four state Markov model with reversible transitions. Some of the major findings of the study were that patients presenting with a CD4 count between 200 and 349 had a far lower chance of immune recovery and a significant chance of immunosuppression compared to patients of a higher CD4 count. Transition probabilities from states 1, 2, and 3 into state 4 increased as time progressed. The estimated total length of stay in state 1 was longer than state 2 and 3 respectively. The rate of decline in CD4 count decreased at lower levels of the indicator.

Abstract: Nonlinear partial differential equations are transformed into nonlinear ODES using some similarity transformations. From these ODES, the numerical solutions have been obtained using the collocation method, which is in turn implemented in MATLAB software via the bvp4c function. The results of the simulation are presented graphically to depict the effects influence of the above stated parameters on the velocity, temperature and concentration profiles. The results of this study reveal that for this study, fluid velocity is increased by increase in magnetic inclination angle, while concentration and fluid temperature decreases with increase in inclination angle.

Abstract: The purpose of this project was to apply queuing models to KIBAGABAGA Hospital services and analyze time a patient can spend waiting for a service at this hospital. It was also to provide necessary information to policy makers aiming to contribute to the wellbeing of population by reducing waiting time for services. In excessive cases, long queues can delay appropriate decision for a specific disease that can cause occurrence of death while patient still wait for service. This project, examined the average time a patient spend waiting in the queue, time a patient can spend waiting in the system, average number of patient waiting in the queue and average number of patient waiting in the system by applying queuing models in 3 consultation rooms of KIBAGABAGA Hospital. We computed the system utilization and found that it is greater than one which means that the queue will grow without bound. There were a large number of patients waiting in the queue and they waited a long time before meeting a medical doctor. The correlation analysis proved that there was a negative correlation between patient arrival and working days which means that there were many patients on Monday than on Friday. To reduce the waiting time, we suggested that the hospital should increase the number of physician and nurses as well as the consultation rooms and to develop a staffing plan that will put more effort in the beginning of the week.

Abstract: A comprehensive analysis of heavy metals contamination was carried out in the marble building materials collected from di erent stores in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in which is subject to rapid construction development. In Riyadh, it has been observed environmental issues due to heavy metal pollution from new construction projects of underground metro as well as other new infrastructural developments. Therefore, it is very important to carry out an investigation of presence of heavy metals in marble materials as major unit of construction building materials. The bene t of full statistical evaluation was conducted to represent relationship models of the contents of heavy metals (Cr, Cd, Pb, Ga, and U)in marbles used in Saudi building. Four di erent methods of matrix correlations were used to obtained full spectra of relationship between studied heavy metals and other elements. Normality tests were conducted to help the statistical performance to treat the results as parametric. Moreover, Shewhart con dence limit tests were also applied to the reported data of each heavy metals to tell us the sample out of con dence limits. Lucky, all the statistical tests were within good agreement with critical values. The obtained data were compared with the value of heavy metals in upper earth crust reported by Muller. Geo-chemical indexes calculations were performed using geochemical hazard index, background enrichment index and other useful indexes. The values of hazard indexes were compared with tabulated or recommended values. The present study was found that marbles did not possess any signi cant hazard in term of heavy metals to the residents of Riyadh.
