Abstract: Myanmar held a free and fair election in 2015 as the first remarkable election in 60 years after her independence from the British colony in 1948. General Nay Win coupe the country’s power and his government ruled Myanmar for 26 years from 1962-1989 and Myanmar lost democratic government since 1962. The entire military government ruled Myanmar from 1989 to 2010; the democratisation transition has been going on since 1988 by the head of Aung San Su Kyi, leader of NLD (National League for Democracy) and Myanmar’s Democracy Struggle restarted again in 2010 by United States’ pragmatic engagements with Myanmar during Obama’s administration. After the 2015 election, Aung San Su Kyi’s democratic government hand over power from U Thein Sein’s civil government but the military is still powerful by the 2008 Constitution. The new Democratic country Myanmar is keeping her democratic way to get full Democracy government among domestic and international challenges. This article explains “how Myanmar was trying her democratic transition between her development neighbour Chinese’s pressure and the U.S.A’s support to keep on the democratic way and standing for the human right”.

Abstract: This study assessed the self-efficacy and motivational perspective of the Agricultural Science and Technology School graduates. The overall mean was 4.02 for self-efficacy of the respondents whose mean ranged from 1.91 to 4.34. This means the respondents are self-efficacious with high self-efficacy toward graduate’s confidence in his or her ability to achieve specific academic tasks.

Their mastery goals had an overall mean of 4.16 described as “often true”. Performance goals were also high with a mean of 3.78 described as “often true”. Meanwhile, social goals had an overall mean score of 4.12 described as “often true”, this means the Agricultural Science and Technology School graduate respondents are highly self-efficacious. The overall mean score of the extrinsic goals was 3.86 which were described as “often true”. This means the respondents needed to be motivated with praises and rewards for their successful endeavors.

Pearson-r revealed that sex, specialization, highest educational attainment and occupational status were significantly related with the self-efficacy of the respondents. Also, mastery goals, performance goals, social goals and extrinsic goals had highly significant relationship with the self-efficacy of the ASTS graduates.

Abstract: While some have suggested that the New Testament writers were unkind to women, the simple fact is that for that time in history the New Testament situations involving women tended to elevate them to a higher level than the Jewish and non-Jewish societies of that time did. Women were highly involved in Christ’s ministry as well as the ministry of the early church. One writer wrote this about women in the New Testament.that women travelled (sic) with and helped support Jesus and the disciples, that women, not men, were the last at Jesus’ cross and the first at his tomb, that Paul in various letters greeted women as co-workers. Women who wholeheartedly dedicated their lives to such religious activities received extravagant accolades from the post-New Testament writers This brief paper will not cover everything about women and the New Testament Church. It shows that the New Testament writers recorded that women were not to be treated according to rabbinical traditions.It will also go over roles, responsibilities, and even opportunities Christian woman have.Plus is shows that many women were praised and encouraged for their contributions to Christianity.

Abstract: Ending poverty and addressing climate change has been two prominent issues for India’s decision makers of all time after independence. Empirically, India is a home to 30 percent of world’s poorest people and majority of people are living below poverty line with income only about $1.90 per day. Also Climate change threats can be seen in both objectively (as a real threats) and subjectively (as a perceived threats). Therefore, poverty as polluter has three hypothetical assumption – 1) changes will be at climate even after poverty increase or decrease, but climate change will hit hard poverty at first, 2) eradicating poverty has been equivalent to combating climate change to the government of India because of everyday growing population, 3) rampant poverty will push back in being ‘responsible power’ which India recently seek for in international politics. The paper will test these assumption based on empirical grounding.

Abstract: The learners of today are to be groomed for future work and citizenship and for twenty first century. It is formidable that globalisation, invention of new technologies, migration policy, global competition, market changes and political issues are remarkably questioning learners today in their acquisition phase of skills and knowledge. Educationists, researchers and governments work towards the abilities that are to be developed as twenty first century skills essentially as higher order thinking, deeper learning outcomes, critical and complex thinking. Abstract: This study attempts to describe the practice of code-switching among selected teachers of the College of Arts and Sciences of Notre Dame University. The study employed the quasi-qualitative descriptive design. The data are transcriptions of the linguistic expressions spoke and recorded during the observation sessions. They were words, phrases, statements or whole discourses in both English and Tagalog. Transcriptions because they were recorded and been transcribed.

There were two youngest among respondents and they are 24 years old. The oldest is 56, most of them fall under the 25-30 and 36-40 age range. Eighteen of the respondents were male and twenty two were female. Most of them have MA/MS units. In term of length of service, most respondents have served for only one to five years.

The biggest number of frequency of code-switching is 32 and the least is 1 but the most cases of code-switched expression contained language mixing. In fact, the two highest cases of language mixing are 47 and 57. This happened because the teacher did not just code-switch, most of the time, they language mixed.

The pattern of code-switching used are the following: (a) English-Filipino-English (EFE); (b) Filipino-English (FE); (c) English Language Mix (ELM); (d) Filipino Language Mix (FLM); (e) Language Mixing (LM)

Observation of the transcribed statements reveal that code-switching is done at any point in the string of statements. They are found in the initial, medial and terminal positions.

Abstract: Thakazhi Sivasankara Pillai’s magnum opus is his novel Chemmeen. It has enriched in a very special place in the annals of contemporary Malayalam literature. It was published on March 7, 1956. It shows his deep and penetrating insight into the working of human mind. The earlier writers before Thakazhi portrayed the upper and respectable classes of the society there by eliminating common man in the essence of their work. But he focussed mostly on the coastal area mass in his writings. Chemmeen is a compelling study of human passions, taboo violated relationship, ancient myths and allusions employed to heighten the tragic note in the present context in the narrative. Chemmen is a tragic love story of forbidden love. On the other hand, it proves that true love recognizes no religious, culture or geographical boundaries. It illustrates the deeply rooted nature of superstition in Hindu psyche and presents the typical Kerala fishing community of Alapuzha. The fiction Chemmeen is a tale in multilayer. It is analysed foe its romantic approach, realistic description, mythical belief and humanitarian values.

Abstract: In the summer of 2016, I was introduced to the women who carry the burden of China’s foreign relations on their shoulders, that is, providing care services while employers attended to the strenuous realities of expatriate life in Beijing, China. What stood out to me was the network that existed among these nannies and the issues they discussed daily that they experienced on the job. Here, I realized that the period that they took the children out to play and unwind, was as much therapy for them, as well as the  children. During these visits, I learnt of a foreigner working illegally as an ayi. I decided to probe and used this as a basis for a study through narration, as existing reports show that foreigners of African ethnic group do not usually source employment in this area. Instead, this exclusively a practice of Asian women in Mainland China. By way of using observation, journal entries and interviews, I was taken into the informal economy of China to see how foreigners illegally worked. What has unearthed from this case, is that the Universities seem to hold a surplus labour in China and the care industry seems to be benefitting. Additionally, this case shows that having international students is one way in which China is contributing to poverty reduction in developing countries at a household level. Thus, this is a phenomenon in China that demands extensive studying in terms of how international students cope in Beijing China, as well as what avenues are available to them for assistance in moments of financial constraints.

Abstract: The study entitled The Side effects of Contraceptive Used by Women in Rosary Heights VIII, Cotabato City is guided by its Statement of the Problem, what are the demographic characteristics of the respondents. What is the profile of the of the respondents in Rosary Heights VIII, Cotabato City in terms of Age, Educational Attainment, Civil Status, Number of Children, Occupation, Religion.

This study aimed to determine the side effects of contraceptives used by women in Rosary Heights VIII, Cotabato City. The study employed the descriptive-qualitative design. Methods used as follows: survey questionnaire, focus group discussion and interviews. To accumulate and identify respondents we sought the help of the Public Health Midwife of the Barangay. The onsite visit, questionnaire distribution and interviews to the respondents provided and validated the important data for this study. The questionnaire is divided into five parts. The first part of the questionnaire is composed of Socio-Demographic Profile of Respondents, the second part is Different Contraceptive Methods used by the respondents, third part is Purpose of using Contraceptive methods, fourth part Problem Encountered by the respondents, and lastly, the five-part dealt with Side-effects encountered by the respondents.  Convenient sampling technique was used. Researchers identified respondents since they are users of contraceptive methods ranging the age between 15-49 years old and a resident of the identified area. The data were statistically treated using a scale that had been specially developed for this purpose. The results suggest that some of the contraceptive hormones have a certain influence on the aforementioned side effects.

Title: THE SIDE EFFECTS OF CONTRACEPTIVES USED BY WOMEN IN ROSARY HEIGHTS 8, COTABATO CITY

Abstract: The study determined how students measure the housing facilities of their learning environment. It is also identified the effects of housing facilities on the learning achievement of university students of Bulacan State University. A sample of 28 randomly selected students was taken from a population of Bulacan State University students. A quantitative method of research was applied in this study. A descriptive questionnaire was used using a Likert scale to compute for the weighted mean. Factorial analysis was used to describe variability among observed, correlated variables in terms of a potentially lower number of unobserved variables. Findings revealed that there are more male than female students in the housing facility outside of the university, more students in their second year level, more students received an average final rating, and there are more respondents occupying in a room but it is not a disturbance to them. It is also revealed that the respondents are slightly satisfied with bedroom amenities with study table, chair, wardrobe, towel railings, dressing mirror, ceiling fan and socket. The security of the housing facility is normally appreciated by respondents as they feel slightly satisfied. With regards to bathroom facility, the respondents are slightly satisfied with location, number of people shared, cleanliness and overall facility were perceived to be slightly satisfied by respondents.

Based on the results of the study it is recommended to focus on improving the following facilities namely bathroom, bedroom, and bathroom. It is necessary that sanitary facilities address the needs of the occupants and tenants based on accessibility and availability. It is also recommended that owners of said dormitories put extra effort in investing in better facilities and amenities for their businesses in order to truly cater to their clients’ needs. Such measure will also give more opportunity for the dormitory owners to expand their brand by gaining reputation for giving quality service, facilities, and amenities through possible “word-of-mouth” that will entice potential customers in the future.

Abstract: The National Board of Accreditation (NBA) has released a modified version of the self-assessment report (SAR) for institutions in the country.  Twelve different criteria with regard to Bachelor of Education has been considered in this paper.  These criteria rigorously assess the quality of B.Ed. program offered by National Council of Teacher Education.  Criterion 3 assesses the attainment of program outcomes (POs) through attainment of course outcomes (COs). Different approaches have been adopted by educational institutions for the measurement of attainment of COs and POs prior to June 2015 SAR format. Also, criterion 7 depends to a large extent and criterion 2 to some extent on criterion 3. Hence, it is required to measure the attainment of COs and POs as per the guidelines of SAR June 2015 format. This paper presents a simplified approach for the measurement of attainment of COs and POs. The approach can be extended to measure the attainment of Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs) also.  Sample course is considered for showing the measurement of attainment of COs and POs.

Abstract: This research is a study of the stories shared by eight women from ethnic minorities, who tell about the causes for their decision to go to work in a factory in the city of Vientiane. The research found that the voices of the eight women point out that the issues in the process of looking for work come from pressure of various types. They include the reproduction of patterns of responsibility for the family in their position as women, changes of agricultural methods towards monocultures, which cause changes in planting methods, lack of male work force in the agricultural sector, problems due to government projects on land management, which do not suit their original cultural characteristics and that working in the agricultural sector does not offer attractive attributes for the perspective of being a “modern woman”. These stories portray Laos’ economic development policies, which originated in the new mechanism era. What is clearly shown is that the policies widely affect the population in various areas and reach beyond work related changes. The term “Sao rong ngan” (young female factory worker) for the large number of ethnic minority women from the countryside, who go to work in factories in Laos is a designation that is defined in a negative sense. It shows that government policies and new liberal capitalism lead to inequalities in the development of cities compared to the countryside, including infrastructure and human resources development.

Abstract: This study investigated how teachers teach Religious Education (RE) at Basic Schools within the context of existential approach. The study was a descriptive sample with its target population being Religious and Moral Education (RME) teachers, in Duayaw Nkwanta of Tano North Municipal. A sample size of seventy RME teachers was chosen, from both Primary and Junior High Schools, who responded to a five-point Likert scale questionnaire. The data collected from the various instruments (questionnaire and observation) were treated statistically using both descriptive and inferential statistics appropriate for each research question. The outcome of the study confirmed existential approach is intensified through the process of pedagogical strategy in teaching RME, and this to some extend is bridging the gap between the learners’ experiences, and religious and moral experiences. The study recommended a periodic in-service training for the teachers, and the teachers’ extensive engagement of their learners for role play, simulation, group work, brainstorming, questioning, and discussion.

Abstract: The main purpose of this present investigation was to determine the prevailing school learning environment of the Elementary Schools as perceived by English teachers in the District of Pavia and its relationship on the teachers’ job performance. Conducted in October 2016 this descriptive research employed descriptive statistics such as mean and standard deviation to analyze and determine the prevailing learning environment of the subject schools as perceived by their English teachers, and the level of teachers’ performance. The One Way Analysis of Variance or ANOVA was used to determine whether significant differences existed in the school learning environment among subject schools in terms of the eight areas of school learning environment. The .05 level of significance was adopted for the interpretation of the results. Results were analyzed using the SPSS software.
