Abstract: The history of gunpowder and guns in India is quite ancient. However, it is not certain whether the use of firearms originated in India. But it cannot be denied that it was born in the East, not in the West. At the same time, there is no denying that the progress and proliferation of the guns were in the hands of the Europeans. Europe's industrial revolution and scientific revolution greatly influenced the history of technology throughout the world. The evolution of the gun could not ignore this effect. It is here that the evolution of the gun, especially the mechanism, has been attempted to explore through the lens of Indian history. This seems very important in Indian science-technology and military history.

Abstract: The famous liberal philosopher John Stuart Mill once said, "Without universal education, democracy can never succeed." In ancient times our civilization and culture continued to carry the tradition of Aryan civilization where people of the tribal community had been deprived of their right to education.  This trend continued until the British era.  The British Government wants to make some Indians for their own clerks by teaching English for their own needs. After independence, the Government of India formulated various committees, commissions and rules to make education universal and compulsory. Each committee and the Commission said that various schemes should be taken to improve the education of the Santal (Tribal) community. Announcement had been made by the government for providing various facilities for the students belonging to the Santal (Tribal) community so that they can get the traditional education and return to the mainstream of the society. But sadly, after so many years of independence for various reasons the Santal (Tribal) people who are still in the community could not be enlightened in the light of complete education.  However the government has been making restless efforts to eliminate this disparity in education and bring everyone to the arena of education.

Abstract: The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends exclusive breastfeeding during the first six months of life for optimal growth, development and health of children. However exclusive breastfeeding among the mothers have remained low. Therefore, the study was conducted to investigate the influence of socio-demographic factors on exclusive breastfeeding practices in Turbo Constituency. Specifically it seeks to assess the influence of culture on exclusive breastfeeding in Turbo constituency. The study adopted anex-post facto research design. A target population of 2000 mothers with infants 0- 6 months and 10 medical health workers working in the Mother and Child Clinic in Turbo Sub County hospitals. Simple random sampling technique was adopted to select a sample of 330 mothers and census approach was employed in which all the 10 health workers were allowed to participate in the study. Questionnaire and interview schedule were used as data collection techniques. Construct and face to face techniques were employed to validate the data collection techniques. Test retest technique was employed to test the reliability of the data collection instruments. Data collected was analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics. Descriptive statistics was analyzed in frequencies, percentages, means and standard deviations. Chi-square statistics was adopted to test the null hypothesis. The findings showed that there was a negative and significant relationship between cultural practices and exclusive breastfeeding of infants aged 0-6 months. Therefore, the study recommended that negative cultural practices such as giving of herbs and misconception that colostrum is poisonous to infants should be avoided. The study also recommended that family life programs should be promoted across Turbo Constituency to educate mothers on the importance of exclusive breastfeeding for their infants.

Abstract: What is the idea of Indian Literature? Does anything like Indian Literature really exists? What had been the literary situations over a time in pre- British India? What is the difficulty in defining the term Indian Literature in a multilingual multicultural nation like India? Much had been said and written in last few decades. The views range from those who consider Indian literature as an essentially multilingual phenomenon bound by the threads of minimum common cultural conditions to those who narrowly recognize Indian Literature merely as the one written in English. The article takes a review of different polyglot conventions in literary scene in India from time immemorial till contemporary period. It also discusses the nature of the issue of Indianness in Indian English literature as a post colonial happening in light of discussion on a genre of poetry.

Abstract: Teacher qualification all over the world is a big setback to the development of the teacher. The success or failure of the teacher in their classroom performance depends largely on their qualifications and training. A lot of articles have been devoted on the teacher and teacher related issues, but little research has been done on college tutors qualifications and the subjects that they teach. This article tries to fill that knowledge gap by looking at the qualification levels of tutors in delivering geography lessons in social studies curriculum. This descriptive study was used and  a cross-sectional survey with  aggregated data were collected from different participants at different points in time. The study used a sample size of sixty-two (62) and was non-experimental in nature. Self-developed questionnaire was used as instrument for data collection.

Abstract: Manbhum was a geographical part of Chotonagpur plate. Basically this region infested by various minerals. Small and heavy industry set up here for this cause. Labourers are worked in the mines areas and in the industry. This area also connected with the railways. A large number of labour worked in Railway. This region has a long history of labour and trade union movement. Tata, Adra, Bokaro, Dhanbad are the main place of trade union movement in the area. The labourers of the area demanded their rights in the colonial phase. Between the two great world wars the area cited a large number of labour movements.

Abstract: It is really surprising that in the present age though umpteen number of philosophies and religions are available for avid readers easily still there is no complacency as such. In fact with a greater share of knowledge there is unfortunately more of confusion and uneasiness growing incessantly. Upcoming generations are also at a loss for not knowing as to which philosophy or even religion should be viewed as dependable! Much owing to this there has been skeptic attitude getting slowly on a rise and when impartially viewed, there is nothing wrong. The bad practice of answering questions related to day today life only with the help of religion and old textual matter filled with promising aphorisms and parables have totally disappointed all. However very few are vocal about it. Therefore it is necessary to revisit the ancient philosophies having pragmatic sense without losing hold of Spirituality, Morality and Ethical practices. It is in this context that Epictetus’s philosophy is presented in this paper in brief. According to Epictetus the primary concern of any philosophy must be the Art of Living because society looks at Philosophy as a Manual full of guidelines for a proper living. The techniques must be feasible and thoroughly applicable to everyday lives and with this the mass must be able to learn to respond to the negativities in life with proper convictions.

Abstract: This study sets out to examine the problem of family structure and juvenile crime in Nigeria using Yenagoa Local Government Area as a case study. In order to achieve this objective, two hypotheses were tested. The main goals of this study were to determine if there are variations in delinquency between cohabitating  family and other family types, and to examine the extent to which parental social control measures account for the variation in delinquency by family structure in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. The study relied on both primary and secondary sources of data collection and the simple percentage and chi-square statistical methods were applied in the data analysis process. The findings showed  that delinquency rates are higher among youth from cohabitating families when compared to youth from two-biological-parent families. This difference, however, is explained in terms of parental social control factors In view of the above findings, the study suggested that more attention should be given by parents to the activities of their children as this will go a long way .curtail the incidence of juvenile delinquency in the society.

Abstract: This study examined the influence of life stress on job satisfaction, physical health and mental health. 100 respondents (72 males and 28 females) in sales and manufacturing organizations with age range of 31-57 years participated in the study. The respondents were asked to complete the measures of Standard Stress Scale, Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire and SF-36v2 Health Survey. Regression analysis was performed on two dependent variables- job satisfaction and health. The findings of the study indicated that life stress significantly and negatively predicted job satisfaction. Further, life stress significantly and negatively predicted physical and mental health. The result was discussed in the light of available research findings. Implications of the study and avenues for future research were also discussed.

Abstract: The study uncovered the practices and perspectives in building institutional capacity in urban governance in Bangladesh. The study conceptualized the institutional capacity building in the context of the city corporation governance of Dhaka in terms of organizational capacity, strategic capacity and organizational learning. The study collected qualitative data through interviewing concerned personnel from three categories including strategic policymakers, middle line manager and techno-structure urban planners working in city corporations. The study concluded that city corporations in the capital city of Bangladesh have a poor understanding of the theories and practices of institutional capacity building and the role of its strategic apex. Consequently, city corporations are not yet fully capable of ensuring efficient governance and effective service delivery for various practical barriers. The study suggests that the city corporations in Dhaka need to understand the importance of institutional capacity building process in general and the role of its strategic apex in terms of organizational capacity, policy capacity and learning capacity.

Abstract: The addition of a newborn infant to the family brings about more profound changes than any other developmental stage of the family life cycle. This may lead to marital conflict and dissatisfaction, separation or divorce if not managed well. In Kenya, the problems exist despite the fact that counseling programs are in place in various institutions at the county level. New weds are often prepared for marriage and not parental responsibility. The purpose of this study was to assess the influence of community counseling on family wellbeing of first time parents in Kakamega County, Kenya. The specific objective was to investigate the influence of religious leaders in first time parent family counselling on family wellbeing in Kakamega County. The study was guided by general strain Theory of social behaviour. The study employed descriptive survey research design. It was carried out in Kakamega County, Kenya. The target population was 5568 comprising First-time Parent Families, religious leaders, local leaders and professional counselors. The sample size was 373 realised through Yamane formular.  Data was collected using interviews, document analysis and questionnaires. Reliability and validity of the instrument was ascertained through Cronbach Alpha Coefficient test and expert opinion respectively. Analysis of data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics, aided by the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) computer program. The findings were presented using tables, charts and figures. The study established that religious leaders have positively and significantly influence family well-being (R=0.456, P=0.000). The study recommended that religious leaders should be trained in counseling since their counseling services besides religious nourishment contribute positively to family-wellbeing.

Abstract: To consider any language and/or dialects of any language, there are many loan words which easily we can find them. Hazaragi dialect is one of the most utilizable and major dialect among other 30 dialects and languages of Afghanistan which is using by approximately 4-7 million people in all over Afghanistan and foreign countries. In the present study, the author has tried to have a short glance on the Hazara term politically, socially, geographically, and moreover how Hazaragi dialect affected from other languages in course of time. Furthermore, the author pointed out some loan words which the Hazaragi dialect borrowed from other languages - particularly Turkic and Mongolian words which are existed in the dialect abundantly. Though, Hazaragi as the major dialect in Afghanistan is always suffered from political and social discrimination during past of time, where the dialect not only borrowed from Turkic and Mongolian words, of course if we consider the dialect in modern time, there are lots of loan words which we can find them from English, Russian, and particularly the languages of neighboring countries as well. Besides, the governments of Afghanistan during the course of time prejudiced on the Hazaras which smoothly influenced on language too. Likewise there is no comprehensive study on the loan words of Hazaragi – but the collected words are very common in Hazaragi dialect of Afghanistan.

Abstract: This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the records management system of Cotabato Regional Medical Center Health Information Department. It utilized the quantitative-qualitative design in data gathering that was conducted in Cotabato Regional Medical Center, a tertiary hospital located in Cotabato City, to the 100 respondents composed of CRMC staff and personnel and clients. The study made use of mean as statistical tools in the analysis of data gathered.

The findings of the study revealed the types of services provided, the practice of filing and processing and records management on guidelines on procedures were very extensive.  The seminars and trainings for human resource and upgrading of resources and facilities were very extensive.  The attainment of quality service outcome in terms of retrieval of information, preserving records life cycle and quality service in promptness and accuracy were very extensive. The common minor problems encountered included miscommunication and some unavoidable delay due to technological problems that sometimes occur. The common interventions formulated as verbalized by the informants revealed they often conduct meeting and planning regularly to address problems encountered. The study concludes that the records department of Cotabato Regional Medical Center efficiently provides quality services to the clients. The prompt and accurate records released and the preservation of documents was highly maintained since facilities and equipment’s were provided. Likewise trainings and seminars were also provided to develop the competency of the personnel which is a factor in improving the quality of services of the department. The study generally recommends continuing and intensifying the compliance of the personnel in practicing standards and protocols for records management system.

Abstract: Sport participation has become a culture all over the world, as people globally participate in it at various levels and dimensions; passively as spectators, actively as participants/players or athletes, as audience (supportive, non supportive or neutral), as producers or consumers of sports products, etc, It has become such a strong binding force in human lives and can no longer be overemphasized. It transcends all known cultural barriers, be it race, colour, creed, nationality, country, region, religion, tribe, socio-economic status, age, gender, politics, etc. However, it is now a global phenomenon that people participate in for various reasons. While some people can explain their motive of participation, a host of others cannot. While some see it as a mere play, others see it as competition, mere running, jumping, throwing objects, socializing agents, a form of recreation, rejuvenation, relaxation, and so on. It is uncommon to hear adolescents discuss about the economic and psychological values inherent in sports participation culture. Whereas, adolescence is a unique and critical period in human development when intense socialisation takes place in all aspects of life, including sporting activities. Sports values, culture of societies and their expressions by adolescents from society to society are universal and parts of human existence. The values ascribed to sports are in different areas. Research evidence confirmed that there is an increase in the rate of adolescents’ participation in sports, but the area of sports values which the adolescents imbibe and express has not been fully explored. Hence, this study analytically reviews the concept of sports participation with special focus on the economic and psychological values inherent from its participation culture.
