Abstract: The purpose of this study was to assess the influence of parents’ involvement strategies on pupil performance in UPE schools in the Agago district. The theme of this study was considered significant because the findings of this study may benefit the government of Uganda in identifying better parental involvement strategies to improve pupil performance in UPE schools. The objective was; to assess the influence of the provision of a supportive study environment at home on pupil performance in selected UPE schools in Agago district. To deliver answers to the above empirical objectives, the study adopted a case study design where qualitative data were collected from 45 respondents. The document analysis and the Focus Group Discussions were used as methods of data collection. The findings of the study revealed that; parents’ involvement strategies have a positive significant influence on pupil performance in UPE schools in terms of attendance rates, completion rates, quality of test scores obtained, and level of participation in co-curricular activities. The provision of a supportive study environment at home, parent-school communication, and parent presence at School, collectively account for the change in pupil performance in UPE schools. The study concluded that the active provision of a supportive study environment at home has a positive relationship with pupil’s academic performance. Based on the study results, the study recommended that the Agago district administration should involve parents much more in school activities then they will realize better pupil performance in UPE schools in Agago district.

Abstract: This paper tries to study the role of the Global North in knowledge creation for the Global South. Through a study of research on newspapers in India, the paper attempts to probe the question as to how the neoliberal consensus emanating from the Global North dominates the discourse in newspapers in the Global South. Thus, liberalization has seen trends like tabloidization, emphasis on infotainment and advertisements and the decline of the editor. The global media firms based in countries of the North, through their immense resources and global reach, set the agenda for the media of the South by highlighting the international events they consider ‘newsworthy’ and even influence the perspectives on the event. This is analytical research on the newspapers based on an analysis of the trends in newspaper publishing in India, especially with reference to the Hindi newspapers in India.

Abstract: This study investigates difficulties that face EFL learners in speaking performance and suggest some solutions to these difficulties. The study adopted the descriptive analytical method. A questionnaire was distributed for data collection from hundred and four (104) of EFL teachers who selected randomly from different Sudanese Universities. Then the collected data analyzed with the SPPSS program. The result indicate that: many of EFL learners face difficulties in speaking performance , using traditional methods of teaching limits students oral interaction , lack of vocabulary harms EFL learners’ oral interaction, socio-cultural factors influence learners’ speaking skills. The study recommends the following:  EFL learners should be enabled to overcome their speaking difficulties, teachers of English language should use modern teaching techniques in EFL classes, learners of English language should be enabled to enrich their vocabulary to practice oral interaction more effectively and EFL learners should be encouraged to practice dialogues and conversations for enhancing their speaking skills.
