Abstract: This paper is entitled Social Prospects of concepts on Jane Austen and Virginia Woolf. It is a comparative study between these two prominent female writers of the eighteenth century, Victorian era. It aims at investigating and revealing their similarities and differences in various areas such as life, career, style, irony, satire, realism and the concepts regarding feminism themes, philosophy,claims of society and of the individual. The paper also presents Woolf and Austen`s heroines who reflect their attitudes towards social structure, political hegemony, love, and marital status. Moreover it deals with their fight for women liberty from the tyranny of the world of men`s domination. They reached at universality for their contribution in literature despite Virginia`s tragic end.

Abstract: The aim of this paper is to state what should be done in order to improve on the standard of living of people, irrespective of the society in which they live. What motivated me to investigate and write on this topic was my observation. I drew the inspiration from my day-to-day experience in Burundi. I have been living in Burundi for the past four and a half years. As I move the streets of the capital of Burundi, Bujumbura, I come across people who display a spirit of despair. This desperation is manifested on their faces and by what they do. On the streets we find beggars in their numbers. On the radio and television we get news on how poverty is raving the Burundi population. About 42% of the national income comes from bilateral and multilateral donors. Currently, these external donors are conditioning the way these funds are to be made available for reasons of governance, human rights, as well as the management of these funds. From this situation in Burundi I realised that when a country relies so much on external support, the independence of the country tends to be questionable. There is the saying that “he who pays the piper determines the tune”. My study in Burundi is a pilot study because Burundi is not the only poor country in the world. This paper is, thus, destined to all countries that suffer from poverty. Most people wish to live in America because the living conditions are favourable. I wish to posit that any country, irrespective of the continent can make its own country, “America” or even “more than America” so as to attract other nationals, including Americans. The approach I propose in this paper is what I term, “The Concerted Effort Approach” to the eradication of poverty. This approach states that all stakeholders in the socio-economic sector of any country should join hands to generate funds for common good. These stakeholders include the government, the civil society, private entrepreneurs, and the masses.

Abstract:  The aim of this paper is to reveal the impact of diversity and paradox on the teacher’s performance. In so doing, it defines diversity and paradox and displays types of each of them. Also it endeavors to answer a bulk of questions and notions in the following respects:

a. Whether in the communities that are very diverse, teachers need to have an understanding and designing factors of different races, backgrounds and cultures in the community.

b. Whether teacher’s training enhances his\\her performance.

c. Whether diversity and paradox are two indispensable factors in the process of successful teaching.

d. Whether diversity conflicts regarding diversity can negatively impact students’ attitudes and performance in the classroom.

e. Whether the principle of paradox can guide us in thinking about classroom dynamics and designing factors that can hold a classroom session.

f. Whether good leadership is evident to a successful performance.

The paper presents a questionnaire of (20) questions to be distributed to (50) subjects mostly staff members of various English Departments, male and females. Then it uses (SPSS) to analyze and evaluate the process of validity, reliability and variability.

Abstract: The present study explored the role of gender and family location in moderating the impact of job characteristics on organizational commitment. A valid sample of 389 Taiwanese expatriates was invited to participate by e-mail.   The methods of data analysis used in this study consisted of exploratory factor analysis, internal consistency reliability, and moderated multiple regression. Findings provides that job characteristics sub-variables, variety and autonomy significantly positively influence organizational commitment, while friendship opportunity and task identity significantly negatively influence organizational commitment. Gender is identified as moderating relationships between job characteristics and organizational commitment. The implications for future research are also discussed.

Abstract: The veil and its misconception by the many feminists and Western Media have been misconceived as such people have no deeper understanding of the Holy Quran and Hadith. The text of the Quran is either not understood rightly or it is more often misinterpreted while this is to say that the (ayahs) that according to jurists are specific to the wives of the Prophet (pbuh) in the matter of veil. It is an established notion that the veil was stressed for the identity of Muslim women which is a major problem for the west nowadays. A hot debate has been underway that the unveiling of Muslim women is a struggle against their beliefs as Muslim or it is the subversion of their identity. The tide of imposing ban on veil in the west (France, Belgium, Italy and Germany) has generated a hot debate whether one cannot practice his or (her) religions according to her beliefs or is it not something ridiculous that a Christian, Jew or atheist would teach a Muslim how to practice his or her religion. The most important question that, the western believes of democratic pluralism is under threat after making such prejudicial legislations that target specific religion.

Abstract:  The most common disease of neuromuscular transmission, myasthenia gravis (MG), is an antibody-mediated muscle disease in which any skeletal muscle can be affected. MG may produce numerous symptoms and signs.  Symptoms of MG include drooping of the eyelids (ptosis); blurred or double vision (diplopia), weakness in the neck, and from arms and legs to the extremities, change in facial expression, difficulty in swallowing; shortness of breath; and impaired speech. (Donald Sanders, MD). MG patients were anxious physically, emotionally and psychologically.  Hopelessness, depression, anxiety, paranoid, pessimistic is still evident in the following factors: a negative view of self, a negative view of the world and a negative view of the future. This is how the MG regard life-negatively. It undermines the patient’s ability to cope with everyday activities, difficult solutions and financial constraint. It leads to isolation and lack of clear perception of the purpose of one’s existence. This research utilized logotherapy as an intervention on MG respondents. Frankl’s assumption that life is meaningful under circumstances, people has the will to meaning and freedom of the will to activate it (Frankl, !984). The Within Group design is the method used in this experimental study.  There were 15 respondents.  This experimental design used the Purpose in Life (PIL) and Life Regards Index (LRI) test.  All the respondents were given the logotherapy, quest for meaning and purpose in life. The test revealed that the experimental group, after subjected to logotherapy increased their score of PIL 120 and LRI 11O, which indicated as there is the presence of definite meaning and purpose in life.  Significant difference between the pretest and the posttest of the same group with Life Regard Index (p=0.00, d=9.2), with Purpose in Life (p=0.00, d=7.5). Logotherapy, quest for meaning and purpose in life, is an effective intervention addressing the suffering (hopelessness, meaninglessness, regarding life negatively) in patients suffering from Myasthenia Gravis.

Abstract: This study aimed at considering the current trends in the newly introduction of ethics into the accounting and auditing environments, where many financial organizations engaged in the developments of various ways and measures to ensure credibility, reputation and accuracy and ensure sustainability of the organizational structures especially in aspects of accounting and audition. Islam on the other hand, had already an existing ethics governing the entire financial services, this ethics solely depends on the original sources of Islamic law enforced on all financial practices, this principles where considered as an obligatory duties to be maintained by all Islamic financial institutions. Recently, there are developments in the Islamic financial services that resulted to the establishment of the Accounting and Auditing Organization of Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI). This institution and others of similar objectives have emerged to give best outlooks to Islamic financial institutions and earn the customers and workers confidence. This paper aimed at reviewing the Islamic ethics from the original sources of shariah as a guide for the Islamic accounting and auditing institutions with a view to see its practicable integration into all accounting and auditing environments.

Abstract: To lead the peasants, often dubbed as exploited, politically segregated, economically unorganized class is not an easy task at all. It seems like a herculean task when we talk about the question of peasant mobilization within colonial framework due to numerous objective as well as subjective reasons. Colonial Odisha (Orissa) being a part of colonized Indian subcontinent bore identical symptoms of colonial exploitation and gradual pauperization of rural gentry in post 1803 period, the year of British occupation of Odisha. The faulty administrative policies of colonial masters, territorial dismemberment of Odisha as well as prolonged exploitation of masses gradually created indigestion. Failed with traditional methods of protest to snatch legitimate rights from a government based on western prototype of constitutionalism, the poor illiterate raiyats approached legal political avenue (representative government) , the best instruments in the hands of educated intelligentsia, to get their right fulfilled. The formation of Bihar and Orissa presidency coupled with the beginning of the process of Tenancy legislation in 1913 brought forth the question of raiyat’s interest within newly formed Legislative Assembly. Therefore this article has made an earnest effort to find out the answers of (I) why did raiyats of colonial Odisha want their representation within assembly? (ii) How was the Praja Pratinidhi sabha formed? (iii) Who were the leading figures behind peasants’ mobilization and what were their social bases? (iv)How far did the Praja Pratinidhi sabha help alleviating the problems?

Abstract: Indian Diaspora is an impregnated term coupled with various culture, religion, and linguistic diversity which form the multiple identities of an ethnic community pronounced as Indian. The term is highly contested and limited when it comes to the old classical Indian Diaspora of Labourer, which is replete with the memories of multiple displacement and totally different feeling of accommodation and hyper mobility. In vogue the successors of old Indian Diaspora (Indenture labour Diaspora) in Canada see themselves to be Twice-Displaced and consider them to be struggling with severe identity crisis. There is an anxiety in this community for having been once settled as Diasporic entities in Caribbean and having again been plunged into multiple hybrid identities which is highly uncertain and unfixed. They often term them as “Bastardised Indians”, “Unfixed Salves” and their identity is malleable, shifting and uneven. In such scenario the movement of women becomes even more challenging and ambiguous as they are already under multiple patriarchy of being Diasporic women. The present study tries to understand and ask the questions: how do women negotiate within the multiple hybrid space?  How do they mediate with their unfixed salves and Multiple Identity as women? Do multiple migration empower them or de-empower them? What kind of memories do they peruse within them? What historicity do they trace is it the patriarchal Indenture History or the History of their grandmother and great grandmother as Coolie women that they associate their identity with? The above themes would be elaborated with the literatures produced by the multiple migrant women authors like Ramabai Espinet and Shani Mootoo.

Abstract:  Purpose is to study the stereotypical projection of Goan women by Bollywood over the decades.  Women of Goan origin have in the past till date found space in Hindi Cinema right from 'Julie' in the seventies to 'Finding Fanny' in 2014. The Study   attempts to see whether the Goan woman is more in line with 'Commodified Bodies' or much beyond it.

Objectives: (1) to understand the concept of Commodified Bodies in the context of Bollywood in general and Goan women in particular. (2) To understand the Goan perspective in this regard.

Design/methodology/approach:  Apart from a review of secondary data, a survey of the local community is undertaken to get an insight of their perception of the same. Simple Percentage Method, with Bar Chart Analysis is undertaken.

Respondents: 30 respondents were picked up at random (Convenience Sampling was adopted).

Research limitations: The survey was restricted to the city of Panjim and the suburbs and as such the findings cannot be generalized.

Findings: Adult Goans and Teenage Goans differ in their views w.r.t commodifying the body. What was once viewed as objectification of the body by one set of generation seems to have more acceptances by the younger generation. Although, adult women and teenaged girls are comparatively not comfortable as their counterparts with the commodification of Goan women by Bollywood.

Originality/value: This study attempts to fill the gap of a very under-researched area namely Goan woman projected in Bollywood Cinema.

Abstract: In the film BLACK SWAN, the protagonist Nina undergoes a character metamorphosis as she struggles to act out the roles of both the White Swan and the Black Swan in the ballet Swan Lake. In the process, she undergoes several instances of hallucinations which appears as real instances to the audience all through the movie. The movie has been shot entirely with the main narrator being Nina, though her narration takes place not as an interaction with the audience by means of conversations or as in narrating a story, but she manages to take along the audience with her throughout the act, deceiving them along the way. The movie "Black Swan" makes a phenomenal utilization of the classic narrative method known as the method of unreliable narration. The entire movie consists of unreliable narrators, whose roles are intertwined with the narration style that the protagonist Nina Sayers utilizes throughout the movie, making it difficult for the audience to understand who has been lying until the climax of the movie. The main objective of this study is to identify the techniques of unreliable narration used by the protagonist at different stages of her character metamorphosis throughout the movie. The analysis is conducted by means of a scenic interpretation of the movie.

Abstract: St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara was born in Kerala, India on 10th February, 1805. He led an extra ordinary life of holiness and committed action for the transformation of the society. He died on 3rd January 1871 and was canonised by his Holiness Pope Francis on 23rd November, 2014. The Kerala society at the time of St. Chavara was very much backward in social, cultural and educational levels. St. Chavara was a visionary leader of the time who envisaged many plans for the spiritual and social progress of the Church and society.  His educational contributions laid a strong foundation for a just society in which all human beings were worthy of erudition, justice, respect and dignity. He is credited with foundations of two congregations, indigenous printing press and publications, a Sanskrit School, schools adjoined to every parish church, boarding school attached to convents and initiation of women empowerment programmes. His educational reforms brought a new dawn in the educational history of the state of Kerala. St. Chavara’s education vision includes inclusion, expansion and equity, excellence, and a comprehensive outlook. This study is to identify his major contributions in the field of education which resulted in the fast development of Kerala.

Abstract: Feminine self-worth develops and expands under the influence of a wide spectrum of inspiring factors. It has been observed that these norms are interjected on the impressionable young woman’s psyche since it lays itself bare unable to impose regulatory checks on itself. One such phenomenon silently corroding the female psyche is self-objectification wherein ‘opinions of others’ gain so much value that a young woman subconsciously objectifies herself in an attempt to appear acceptable to others. This shift from being inner-oriented to being image oriented consequently would retard the growth motives of these young women.

The present study was designed to assess self-objectification among 60 post-graduate female participants (Age 18-25) years and how it would influence their self-actualization needs. The Personal Orientation Questionnaire (POI) by R.R. Knap and E.L. Shostrom (1976) and Body Shape Questionnaire (BSQ) by Cooper et al. (1987) were used to assess this effect. Results point towards the significant role played by Self-objectification in context of growth motivation for young women.
