Abstract: One of the most demanding and tasking section of strategic management involves converting strategic plans into actions and results. Implementing a strategy is the process through which a set of agreed work philosophies is translated into functional and operational targets. The study focused the background of the study which elaborated more on strategy implementation in Kenyan Government Parastatals in NHIF. Problem of the statement about the case study company was explained into details followed by both general objectives and specific objectives of the study. The four research questions was also stated followed by the significance of the study and finally the scope of the study. The study entailed four theoretical frameworks. Also conceptual framework was well defined and elaborated into details followed by a much detailed review of literature variables. The empirical review was defined and elaborated at the same time in relevance with the research topic. Some critique of existing literature relevant to the study was identified and clearly elaborated, followed by research gaps which were left out by earlier researchers identified in details and finally the summary of this chapter. The study identified various variables of the study and defined research design and the actual research showing the relevance of my research design. Population was defined and target population was identified where the respondents who participated in the study were stated. Sampling frame was identified and the sample figure clearly stated. Justification of the sample figure was done followed by the sampling technique of stratified random sampling. The data collection instrument (questionnaire) was elaborated followed by data collection procedure and lastly various data analysis and presentation was identified. The study concluded that human resource significantly and positively influenced the implementation of strategy in Kenyan government parastatals. This implies that human resource is important in strategy implementation. Organizations successful at strategy implementation consider the human resource factor in making strategies happen. The study further concluded that corporate leadership has a significant and a positive influence on the implementation of strategy in Kenyan government parastatals. This implies that the role of organizational leadership is of fundamental importance to the implementation of strategic plan and success of organizations. Regarding organizational culture, the study confirms that organizational culture influence implementation of strategy in Kenyan government parastatals given by multiple linear regression model which revealed that organizational culture is significantly and positively affect implementation of strategy in Kenyan government and thus for every unit increase in organizational culture lead to increase in the implementation of strategy in Kenyan government parastatals by 68.3%.The study finally concluded that organizational policies had a significant and positive influence on the implementation of strategy in Kenyan government parastatals. Formal rules and procedures lead to increased efficiency and lower administrative costs. Organic firms encourage horizontal and vertical communication and flexible roles. The study recommends that human capital, among other organizational resources, should be considered to be unique as one of the major contributors towards performance, since it was found to be positive and significant. The study further recommended that the company leadership should have strong corporate leadership s through continuance learning of new methods and to keep up with the changes in the environment in order to ensure commitment of the employees. The leaders should display a consultative and participative leadership competence which entails treating all employees with respect, trusting them to do their work, listening to the opinions of the employees, and encouraging employees to learn from their mistakes through training and by guiding them in the right direction. It is therefore recommended that the leadership explicitly communicate the goals, vision and future direction of the company to the employees. Finally, it is recommenced that creativity, innovation, and perception in relation to organization policies should be enhanced in the Kenyan Government Parastatal to improve on the implementation of strategies.

Title: DETERMINANTS OF STRATEGY IMPLEMENTATION IN KENYAN GOVERNMENT PARASTATAL, A CASE OF NATIONAL HOSPITAL INSURANCE FUND

Abstract: The study examined the effect of internal control policy on optimal revenue collections in KRA. The theoretical base for the study was founded on optimal theory of taxation. The study applied positivism research philosophy. A descriptive correlational research design was employed in the study. The target population comprised of all the revenue officers working in the 34 KRA stations in the six regions across the country. The study sampled a total of 313 revenue officers in 34 KRA stations. The study used both primary and secondary data. Questionnaires containing close ended questions were used in the collection of primary data. The collected data was analyzed using statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) version 24 computer software. Descriptive statistics as well as inferential statistics were used in data analysis. Data was presented in charts and tables accompanied by relevant discussions of the findings. Findings from the correlations indicated that internal controls had a significant influence on optimal revenue collection. Regression analysis indicated that internal controls had a significant influence on revenue collection. The study concluded that internal controls had a vital role in determining optimal revenue collection in KRA. The study recommended that the organization should sets up strong internal control policies that will go a long way in enhancing the achievement of the organizations objectives of optimizing revenue collection. Internal control policies enable enhanced accountability, facilitates tracking of transactions to avoid wastage of KRA resources and prevent fraudulent activities within the organization.

Abstract: The study aimed to find out the extent of the Instructional Supervision of the Principals in Public High Schools in Cotabato City in terms of: a. Guidance provided to teachers, b. Support provided to teachers and c. Continuous assessment provided to teachers. Also it answers the extent of the pedagogical competence of the teachers in Public High Schools in Cotabato City in terms of:  a. Theoretical Knowledge, b. Teaching Skills and c. Attitude characterized by willingness and ability to develop. Lastly, it determines the significant relationship between the instructional supervision of the Principals and pedagogical competence of the teachers in Public High Schools in Cotabato City.

Based on the findings, the researcher concludes that the extent of the instructional supervision of the principals in public high school in Cotabato City is adequate. The study established that the principal orient new teaching staff, engages teachers in mutual dialogue about ways to improve teaching, offers useful suggestions to improve instructional practices. Principals also initiates seminars to educate teachers on appropriate teaching methods and makes himself/herself available to give advice and instructional support. These roles were rated very highly as being performed always.

Moreover, the extent of the pedagogical competence of the teachers in public high schools in Cotabato City is good enough since they have mastered their field of specialization, have updated knowledge on the current curriculum and have the ability to deliver the lessons in the widest perspective view.

The study also proves the significant relationship of instructional supervision of the principals to pedagogical competence of the teachers. Instructional supervision through classroom observations is a critical factor in enhancing pedagogical practices of the teachers. Effective instructional supervision can be enhanced through classroom observations that are collaboratively planned by both the supervisors and the teachers followed feedback that is communicated in a collegial and supportive manner. Furthermore, keen supervision of schemes of work and lesson plan preparation ensure that teachers adhere to the standards set by the Department of Education.

Abstract: Despite Rwanda great geographic, cultural and demographic diversity, it shares many challenges and issues that are fundamental to improving the quality and relevance of TVET as a means of human resources development. Rwanda must consider a coherent strategy for human development in which TVET plays an important role. Among the critical issues that must be considered when planning TVET programs to develop Rwanda, human resources are the following: Population growth and urbanization; poverty and lack of income-generating capacity; increase demands for literacy and secondary and technical education; and pollution and environmental degradation. The Education Sector Policy was developed in 2003. Since then several sub-sector policies have/are being developed and TVET is one of them. TVET comprises of all fields of initial and continuing Technical and Vocational Education and Training. It covers all kinds and levels of trades offered/to be offered in Rwanda. Interest of researcher is to identify the journeys into self-employment taken by TVET graduates young people from Technical and Vocational Education and Training in Rwanda. Researcher engaged qualitative method throughout this work and different literature documents related to the topic were reviewed. The sample size was 35 graduates of all graduates and school officers of TVET secondary schools in Burera district. Questionnaire, interview and observation were used as research tools to collect information from the field.

Abstract: Community driven development approach to environmental management has been of great importance to both the governments and donors as it has shown the potential to develop projects and programs that are sustainable and responsive to the primary desires of the community. The purpose of this study was to investigate the challenges to the implementation of community driven environmental management projects in Mukuru Kwa Reuben Slum, Nairobi County. The specific objectives are challenges of community participation practices; challenges of community leadership practices; challenges of community resource mobilization practices; and challenges of community environmental awareness campaign on the success of community driven environmental management projects. The study adopted a descriptive research design using stratified sampling method. The target population entailed the beneficiaries of the community-driven environmental management projects implemented by Community Based Organizations in Mukuru Kwa Reuben. The sample size is 200 respondents. Quantitative data will be collected using questionnaires which will then be analysed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics on SPSS version 20. The findings of the study show that majority of the respondents agreed that competition and partnership challenges hinders project beneficiaries from participating in CDEM projects. From the study, the conclusion is that the objectives of the study had been achieved. The study recommends effective partnership, cooperation and common interest among stakeholders, adoption of more inclusive leadership practices in the management of CDEM projects, more diversified approaches to raise funds and increase income and dissemination of accurate information on CDEM among community members.

Abstract: Music performance anxiety often seeps into the minds of many musicians regardless of their age, gender, or race, especially in the realm of classical music. Due to its strict nature, many musicians often cope with social anxiety disorder (SAD) due to severe levels of performance anxiety in an effort to achieve perfection. The excessive criticism musicians place on themselves has led many performers to become reliant on prescription drugs. As an alternative to drugs, a number of musicians and researchers alike have begun to suggest alternative treatment methods. Mindfulness practice, as studied by Diaz, decreased mental distraction, increased awareness, and increased focus. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) is another method in which the goal is not to reduce symptoms of MPA, but rather focus on improving performance quality. At last, the growth mindset helps performers accept that failure is a part of the learning process and that effort and persistence is a key component to success with little regard of talent and natural abilities. At end, the review of the literature revealed a need for further research regarding performance anxiety among musicians as well as alternative treatment methods to prescription drugs.

Abstract: The term ‘Child Labour’ is contextual. According to the ILO’s World Report on Child Labour 2015, approximately 168 million children (aged 5-14 years) in India are trapped in child labour. As per the Census of India 2011, the total child population (aged 5-14 years) was 259.6 million and out of these nearly 10.1 million (3.9 percent), children were working as child labour (Census of India 2011). The state of West Bengal contains 4.5 percent share of child workers (aged 5-14 years) in the year of 2001. It is noted that the average proportion of child workers is 5.1 percent in all India level. The present empirical study has incorporated 513 child labourers (aged 5-14 years) to assess their psycho-economic condition working particularly in the brick kiln industry in Murshidabad District of West Bengal. The present study attempts to analyse the magnitude of child labour in the brick kilns industries in Murshidabad District. This study also identifies the proximate determinants of child labour in the brick kilns industry.

Abstract: Political parties are among the most important institutions for nurturing active participation of women in political party leadership due to the enormous political influence they wield. The exclusion of women from decision-making bodies limits the possibilities for entrenching the principles of democracy in a society, thus hindering sustainable development and discouraging the attainment of gender equality. The study determined the factors that influence women’s participation in political party leadership. The study adopted a mixed research design which employed qualitative and quantitative approaches. A sample of 113 respondents was selected from a total population of 164 (NEC, Secretariat, Women’s league and CEC). Stratified random sampling was used to select the sample population and classified it into strata and random simple sampling to select the sub samples from each stratum. Data was collected using a structured self-administered questionnaire, key informant interview and observations. Data was further analyzed using percentiles; descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings established that 73.7% of the respondents acknowledged that women actively participate in political party leadership. Policies, institutional culture and resources received more than 80% rating for influencing women’s participation in political party leadership. Policies and existing resources has a strong positive influence at coefficient level of 0.000 (.501** and .648**respectively), whereas institutional culture (.380**) has a moderately positive correlation all accounting for 49% (R Square, 0. 492) of the variation in women’s participation in political party leadership at an F value of 29.368. Government, political parties, CSO’s, development agencies and the women’s movement should design programs that specifically address the leadership capacity, economic, and social protection needs of the women to promote active participation of women in political party leadership.

Abstract: Poverty eradication is one of the vital factors for Afghan youth to be educated, happy and for their well-being. Poverty in Afghanistan has increased over time, where most of the people - both men and women, are living in a very high rate of national poverty line. Households in Afghanistan have higher number of young children, relying on child labour, illiterate head and a head employed in informal labour sector. This paper offers validated business model on humanising entrepreneurship programmes to overcome the high rate of national poverty level in Afghanistan. Also, this paper discusses the initial Business Model options - Canvas (BMC) and Value Proposition Design (VPD). This paper adapted the design thinking approach. The approach includes conducting literature review and interviews by utilising BMC and VPC to analyse, formulate and design business model alternatives for Eradicating poverty in Afghanistan. The focus is on how to reduce and eradicate poverty, while creating decent jobs and spur economic growth for youth through humanising entrepreneurship programme. Finally, these youth should be educated, trained and nurtured with relevant knowledge, skills and values in terms of jobs and value creation for themselves and others.

Abstract: The success of the procurement function has been attributed to the proper and effective and efficient management of the buyer supplier relationships. Therefore, the understanding of strategic relationships with key suppliers is a fundamental as it leads to value creations and also builds trust and commitment. However, state corporations continue to report inefficiencies in their procurement processes despite massive resources deployed and the variety of suppliers tendering in these corporations. The purpose of this study therefore was to establish the influence of supplier relationship attributes on procurement efficiency in state corporations in Nakuru County, Kenya. A descriptive survey design was employed since it permits gathering of data from the respondents in natural settings. The target population for this study comprised procurement staff in all state corporations located in Nakuru County, Kenya. Specifically, the target population was 96 procurement staff in state corporations. Purposive sampling was then used in targeting the said procurement staff. A self administered questionnaire based on a 5-point Likert scale was used in data collection. The data collected was analyzed using both descriptive (means and standard deviations) and inferential statistics (correlation and regression) with the aid of the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) and the results presented in tables. From the findings, it was established that there was a very strong and positive correlation between supplier relationship attributes and procurement efficiency (r = 0.691**). The r2 value of 0.477 implies that 47.7% of the variations in procurement efficiency can be explained by the variations in supplier relationship attributes.

Abstract: This study aims to examine the readiness of the Makassar Merchant Marine Polytechnic in terms of Human Resources, readiness of the Makassar Merchant Marine Polytechnic in terms of Organizational Culture, and readiness in the Makassar Marine Polytechnic in terms of Infrastructure. This study uses a quantitative descriptive approach. The population in this study is the entire academic community of Makassar Merchant Marine Polytechnic. While the object of this study consisted of Taruna, Officers of Makassar  Marine Polytechnic Students and Lecturers. The process of collecting data in this study was carried out by distributing questionnaires to a number of respondents. The data analysis technique used is descriptive quantitative analysis. The results of data analysis show that; the readiness value for the Human Resource component is 3.98 or ready but needs improvement in implementing e-Learning, the readiness value for the organizational culture component is 3.93 which means it is ready but improvement is needed, and the readiness value for the infrastructure component is 3.95 or in the ready category needed improvement.

Abstract: Preferences and accessibility will determine behavior and perceptions of the use of learning resources in UT-online regarding perceived benefits, preferences when interpreted as choices of likes or dislikes to UT-online learning sources. Trends and preferences for accessing learning resources have changed significantly, especially for students. those who have facilities and understand access procedures, know the benefits of online learning resources available at WEB-UT Student preferences in non-pending programs at UPBJJ-UT Makassar in utilizing online learning resources, fulfillment of online learning resources, ease of online learning resources and the benefits of learning resources online is at a very good level. This gives means that the online learning resources that have been owned by the Open University have met the needs and expectations of students both as alternative learning resources, fulfillment of learning resources, convenience and benefits contained in it. Aside from being an alternative learning material, online learning resources also have excellent accessibility. Where the respondent has responded very well to all questions regarding accessibility. This is very noticeable tendency and preference for students to access learning resources has changed significantly, especially for students who have facilities and understand access procedures, knowing the benefits of online learning resources available at UT WEB.

Physical education of sports and health is a human lifelong development process. In this paper made conclusions, among others; Conflict is an unavoidable aspect in any organization, Physical, Sports, and Health Education does not operate in vacuums. Abstract: The research aims to test the effectiveness of the Experiential Learning Model in raising multicultural awareness for the multicultural student groups (Javanese and Chinese ethnic) at integrated junior high school model in Bojonegoro. The method used in this study is within group or individual design and the research design itself is using equivalent materials design. The research included data collection instrument comprising scale multicultural awareness, and treatment instrument that is used in the form of scenario experiential learning to enhance multicultural awareness of students'. The analysis of the data was used to test the hypothesis is non-parametric statistical test of Wilcoxon sign rank test and visual data analysis to see changes in the subjects’ multicultural awareness of using graphs. Whereas, in measuring the validity and reliability of the instrument used Cronbach alpha reliability analysis obtained reliability scores of 0.909 > 0.5 then the instrument can be said to be reliable. Based on the hypothesis test results through the Wilcoxon sign rank test, the  z scores obtained is - 2.812 and 0.005 ˂ 0.05 for the significance level. Therefore, the Experiential Learning Model can effectively improve the students' multicultural awareness for the Multicultural student groups (Javanese and Chinese ethnic) in integrated junior high school model in Bojonegoro.

Abstract: The Main objective of this study was to determine the influence of corporate governance on competitiveness among the retail supermarkets in Nairobi, Kenya. Census survey was used to collect data from the respondents. Census was used as the target population of middle level managers; junior level managers and senior level managers. The total target population was 90. A total of 71 respondents were used as the sample size for the study. Primary and secondary data were used. While self-administered questionnaires and interview guides were used to collect primary data, the study reviewed the previous evaluation reports to seek the secondary data on competitiveness. The study used two regression models. The results of this study are to benefit policy makers, managers, administrators, entrepreneurs, consultants, scholars and trainers involved in strategic management. This study tested the null hypotheses that corporate governance has no significant influence on the competitiveness of retail supermarkets in Nairobi Kenya. The questionnaire was tested for validity and reliability. Quantitative and qualitative techniques were used to analyze the collected data with the assistance of Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software. The study findings suggest that corporate government significantly contributes to supermarket competitiveness in Kenya. The study recommends that supermarkets should seek to increase geographical expansion as it holds significant benefits in competitive advantages; the government and other supermarket developmental organizations should formulate corporate governance standards and principles that are exclusive to supermarkets in order to improve compliance.
