Abstract: The purpose of this research was to study the influence of strategic management process on performance in intergovernmental institutions; A survey of African Union in Nairobi, Kenya. The study was guided by the following specific objectives; the influence of environmental analysis, strategy formulation, strategy implementation, strategy evaluation on performance at African Union in Nairobi, Kenya. The study was conducted at the African Union agencies based in Nairobi. The study was anchored on the resource based view theory, contingency based theory, stakeholder theory and resource dependence theory. The study used a descriptive research design. For the purpose of this study the population comprised of all employees working at African Union agencies operating in Nairobi, Kenya in the year 2018 with convenience random sampling being used as the sampling technique. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics which included means and standard deviation. Further the inferential statistics to be drawn for analysis comprised the Pearson’s Correlation Analysis and multiple regression model which was used to show relationship between the study variables.  From the findings, results indicated that all predictor variables; environmental scanning, strategy formulation, implementation and evaluation, were important determinants of organizational performance. Furthermore, the findings showed that environmental scanning, strategy formulation, implementation and evaluation positively associated with organizational performance. Regression findings indicated that all independent variables; environmental scanning, strategy formulation, implementation and evaluation were statistically significant predictors of organizational performance. It can be concluded that Environmental scanning did have an influence on organizational performance and that all independent variables; Furthermore, all independent variables; environmental scanning, strategy formulation, implementation and evaluation were positively linked to performance at the agency. The study recommends that African Union should source for more resources, work on its time constraints and negative attitude from some stakeholders and public when undertaking the process.

Abstract: This study investigated how employee empowerment influences the performance of National Hospital Insurance Fund in Garissa County. The study employed a descriptive research design. The study’s target population was 125 employees who were sample using stratified proportionate sampling method and a sample size of 63 respondents was obtained through simple random sampling method. Data was collected using questionnaires and analysed using descriptive and regression analysis. The study revealed that employee empowerment had a positive significance on organizational performance. The study concluded that the management of the hospital emphasizes much on empowering their employees so as to improve the relationship among them at their workplace and also the hospital offers a fair treatment to all their employees so as to ensure that they lay their loyalty to their work. The study recommends that the Hospital should establish all factors that could be affecting effective empowerment of their employees, emphasize much on creating a good relationship of all their employees, carry out a monitoring and evaluation process on the laid strategies and policies on employee relations in line with the organizational goals.

Abstract: The following research paper will investigate the importance of the International Primary Years Curriculum (IPC) and the added benefits for schools to consider within an International School setting. The standard norm in most International Schools is to serve a community of students coming from around the globe with different cultural backgrounds, religious views or beliefs, and attitudes. It is important to teach learners the importance of tolerance and understanding with a focus on respect for people of other cultures. The music curriculum is diverse as you have certain assessment criteria’s that have to be met for each lesson. Understanding the Entry point, Knowledge of Harvest the Bigger Picture, Research, and Recording Activities and celebrating the success of learning and inquiry with the entry point is imperative. Educational systems are constantly evolving and fundamental to the IPC approach to learning is a clear progression in skill development. This even applies to the personal learning goals, which emphasize adaptability, resilience, cooperation, and respect and which, as a result of progressive skill development, help children to become able and inspired learners. International-mindedness is embedded in all IPC learning to ensure that children grow up with a very clear global understanding. No one can properly predict the nature of work that will be available for today's primary age children by the time he or she are adults. Many of the jobs they will have simply don't yet exist, especially in the fields of ICT, technology, and science. So the principle of the IPC is to focus on personal, academic and international learning that will prepare children, wherever they may live, for the world of tomorrow. The researcher explores this further with a specific case study from Mexico where teachers share their ideas and perceptions around IPC. The concluding results reveal the need for Fieldwork Education back in England to make provision for English as Additional Language (EAL) or English as a Second Language (ESL) and differentiating for them in the one hundred and thirty units that are readily available for teachers to download and use within International Schools. The overall impression by most international teachers agreed that IPC allowed learners to develop their critically and analytical skills and offered a variety of cross-curricular activities for learners to explore.

Abstract: English language is lot more than just an official language in India. It has been the language of the diplomacy, higher administration, higher education, superior judiciary etc. English is a language of opportunities and success for life in India. There have been different commissions and Education Policies were published to improve our Education. National Curriculum Framework 2005 is the latest. NCF 2005 is most important part for develop textbooks. So evaluate textbooks of English of standard six, seven and eight of Hindi medium which are published by Rajasthan state textbook board in the light of NCF 2005. Textbooks of English are evaluated as per parameters which are selected from NCF-2005. Sixteen parameters are used to evaluate the English textbooks of Standard six, seven and eight. Parameters are like: Connecting knowledge to out of  the school, Learning is Shifted away from rote method, Overall development of children, making children sensitive to the environment, Child centred education, Active and creative capabilities, etc. English textbooks of standard six, seven and eight has all the qualities or it is as per the NCF-2005’s suggestion except three parameters in standard six and seven. There are four parameters absents in standard eight.

Abstract: The following research paper will investigate the importance of the Reggio Emilia Approach within Music Education in an International School setting. A case study from a Top Independent College in Mexico where the focus for the Daycare, Early years, Reception and Nursery classes is a combination of the International Early Years Curriculum and Reggio Emilia inspired teaching. Several prominent researchers including Burgess, 2013; Edwards et al., 1998; Herzog, 2001; Hanna, 2013; Malaguzzi, 1998; Page-Smith, 2011 and Wood et al., 2015 have researched the benefits of introducing the Reggio Emilia Approach in a school curriculum. Teachers’ assessment of their own and their learners’ musical skills and knowledge contributed to their improved practice in music education. Study findings also supported the co-constructed design of the professional development model and confirmed the importance of researcher flexibility toward participant needs, practices, and the influence of setting on the mentorship. The model holds promise for future collaborations between music and early childhood professionals and asserts the value of site-specific engagements. Teaching the Reggio Emilia Approach within an International School can be exciting for a music teacher to explore. They allow learners in early years develop their analytical and critical skills preparing them for the Primary Years Programme (PYP) or International Primary Curriculum (IPC). Learners in Day Care, Pre-School and Reception are given the opportunity to be creative by exploring their musical ideas and perceptions through the use of Orff Instruments and melodic and non- melodic percussion instruments. They will understand how chords are created by adding three notes together that forms the chords. These are good exercises to train their ears to differentiate between the major and minor chords and understand how these work within music. Through the use of music technology, learners have the opportunity to explore the various timbres available for them and how to distinguish between brass and woodwind instruments for examples. For they have listened to various examples demonstrating that there is a difference between a saxophone, which is a woodwind instrument and a trumpet, which is classified as a brass instrument. The difference between the various elements of music. Whether music that they listened to are fast or slow music. Whether it affects their emotions and how the composers use melodies to create different textures. It is an informative way to learn music in an exciting programme which the learners particularly enjoy. For International teachers exploring the Reggio Emilia Method of teaching for music education can allow learners to grow and experience new ideas and perceptions, allowing teachers to make lessons exciting and fruitful experience for learners to attend the music education classes.

Abstract: Therefore, the occupational pattern has the important aspects, not only in economic context but in geographic perspective also. In this context, present paper tried to endeavour main aspects occupation structure of a district Nawada in Bihar. A former aspect comprises firstly the study of work participation rate and then The workers of occupational categories included in earlier censuses have been re-grouped into nine broad categories Here the working population which is in different economic activities, these are divided into nine categories this are Cultivators, Agricultural Labourers, Livestock, forestry, Fishing, hunting, plantations, orchards and allied activities, Mining and quarrying, Manufacturing, processing, servicing and repairs household industry, Other than household industry, Construction, Trade and commerce, Transport, storage and communication, Other services.. For the present study data has been collected from Census Handbooks, Socio-Economic Abstract. The occupational structure has useful to identify the economic importance of any settlement. The work participation rate of small towns is high in the study area, which changes slowly and of large towns it is low which changes firstly. Large towns are more dynamic in case of work participation rate and occupational structure. Occupational structure also influences the socio-economic development of an area.

Abstract: Due to poor financial management practices, NGOs face challenges in operational sustainability as they are faced with donor withdrawals and subsequent collapse of the NGOs. Therefore study examined the influence of financing decisions on operational sustainability of NGOs in Nakuru. Theory that was used in the study was Contingency theory. The study adopted explanatory research design. The target population of the study included 158 managers from finance and accountant departments who were the study respondents. Simple random sampling technique method was employed where 59 respondents were selected. Data was collected from the respondents by use of structured questionnaires which was constructed on a 5-point Likert scale. Questionnaires were tested for reliability and validity. Data was collected and analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) IBM Version 24. This was done using both descriptive and inferential statistics. Descriptive statistics included percentages, frequencies, and means while inferential statistics included correlation analysis and regression analysis. The findings established that financing decisions had significant relationship of r=.575 with operational sustainability of the NGOs in Nakuru county. Therefore, the study concluded that financing decisions have a significant influence on operational sustainability of NGOs in Nakuru County, Kenya. The study recommended that the NGOs in Nakuru town should come up with a policy framework to help them with better financing decisions. This will help the NGOs avoid cases of poor resource allocation that jeopardize operational sustainability in the NGOs.

Abstract: Procurement ethics has become an important strategic tool and many organizations are leveraging on it in order to remain competitive. Procurement personnel and organizations in entirety are expected to adopt procurement ethics in order to ensure flawless procurement processes. There are lots of ethical challenges that organizations go through before attaining desired performance levels. The general objective of this study was to examine the influence of procurement ethics on the organizational performance of Ewaso Ngiro North Development Authority (ENNDA), Kenya. The study was guided by the following specific objectives: to evaluate the influence of transparency resulting from procurement ethics on organizational performance of ENNDA; to assess the influence of accountability resulting from procurement ethics on organizational performance of ENNDA; to determine the influence of integrity resulting from procurement ethics on organizational performance of ENNDA; and to examine the influence of confidentiality resulting from procurement ethics on organizational performance of ENNDA. The study was anchored on three theories namely: theory of procurement contracts; agency theory and person-situation interaction theory. A case study research design was adopted for the study. The target population comprised of 42 employees of ENNDA who included the top management, middle level managers, procurement personnel, as well as finance personnel. A census approach was used to include all the 42 respondents for the study. The study used a structured questionnaire containing closed ended questions as the primary data collection instrument. The questionnaires were pretested at Ewaso Ngiro South Development Authority to ensure validity and reliability. The collected data was summarized and analyzed with the aid of SPSS using both descriptive and inferential statistics and then presented in form of tables and charts. The study established that transparency, accountability and integrity resulting from procurement ethics did not have a significant influence on organizational performance of ENNDA. Confidentiality resulting from procurement ethics had a significant influence on organizational performance of ENNDA. Following this, the study recommended that the management of ENNDA should consider reviewing and scaling up the quality of ethical procurement processes; adopting stringent measures that promote record keeping accuracy, effective communication between and among stakeholders; putting in place measures that promote employees adherence to set ethical code that dictates their behavior and actions while doing business; and ensuring that appropriate measures are put in place to ensure maximum protection of commercially sensitive information that a supplier provides during the procurement process. The information can be useful for guiding the development supportive policies and regulations that help in strengthening procurement ethical practices in ENNDA and similar programs

Abstract: Majority of the humanitarian organisation are always under pressure to find the most effective ways to bring service to the community. To effectively compete, organizations must continuously implement their strategy in accordance with the strategic plan. Hence this study therefore aimed at to assses determinants influencing strategy implementation in the humanitarian organization: a case of United Nations environment programmes Nairobi. The independent variable of this study are factors (communication, donor funding, strategic planning, and strategy monitoring and evaluation) while the dependent variable of the study is strategy implementation in the humanitarian organization. Theories relevant to this study were Alignment theory, resource dependency theory, strategic fit theory, Mckinsey 7s model and finally the stakeholder theory. Study variables were discussed under the conceptual framework after that operationalized.  The target population constitutes of 189 United Nations environment programmes Nairobi employees involved in Professional and Higher Categories, Field Services and General services and related categories with a sample size of 128 Professional and Higher Categories, Field Services and General services and related categories. Stratified random sampling was carried out. The research instruments that were used included printed questionnaires. Data collected were analysed using both descriptive and inferential statistical tools, and SPSS version 21 was used to process the collected data which was then to be presented in the form of tables. Inferential statistics analysis was conducted to describe the strength of the linear relationship between two variable which indicated that 52.6 per cent variation on strategy implementation was explained by the four variables namely; communication, donor funding, strategic planning, and strategy monitoring and evaluation and revealed that they play a significant role in strategy implementation. The study recommends that management should embrace overall effective and efficient strategy implementation in order to achieve long-term goals of the organization.

Abstract: This study sought to determine the role of community radio (CR) in promoting rural development. Radio Habari Njema in Mbulu district in Manyara region in Tanzania was used as a case study. The study employed a case study research design using mixed methods techniques where by both quantitative and qualitative data were collected and analysed with the sample size of 54 respondents. Quantitative data were analysed using descriptive statistics while qualitative data were thematically analysed. The study found that RHN as a community radio was playing a key role through its programs to improve agriculture, youth participation, gender equality, protection of environment, promoting good governance and reduction of negative cultural practices. The study recommends that the management of community radios should prepare programs in a more  participatory manner with the community it serves. CFs, have to  call in programs by inviting leaders to come to talk on various development issues and give them a chance to be interrogated by the people on how they solve various development challenges and expand the coverage to attract many audience for rural development in Mbulu district, Manyara, Tanzania.

Abstract: Without adequate inputs, farmers cannot meet the food needs of their families and those of the rapidly growing population. The cost of key inputs such as seed, pesticides, fertilizer, drugs and vaccines is high for resource poor farmers. When governments want to ensure there is sufficient food for its citizens, a variety of governmental supports are provided to the industry to ensure it maintains low costs of production and high output. This is generally in the form of subsidies. The general objective of the study was to investigate the effects of subsidized agricultural subsidies on the welfare of small holder farmers in Nambale Sub County in Busia County. The specific objectives were to examine how access to subsidized farm inputs and agricultural mechanization influence the welfare of small holder farmers in Nambale Sub County. Purposive sampling was used to select 320 small holder farmers out of which 309 were reached. Data collected was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics using the Statistical Package for Social Scientists (SPSS). Findings revealed that subsidized farm inputs had a weak but significant positive relationship with the socioeconomic welfare of small holder farmers. Agricultural mechanization had a weak but significant positive relationship with socioeconomic welfare of small holder farmers. The regression model summary indicated that subsidized farm inputs and agricultural mechanization accounted for 20.8% of the variations in socioeconomic welfare of small holder farmers which means that other factors not considered in the study could explain the remaining variance.  More resources need to be allocated for subsidized agricultural inputs and their distribution made more regular. There is need to have the tractors for agricultural mechanization easily accessible and in good working condition for small holder farmers to realize maximum benefits.

The target population was the, 119 lecturers and 329 trainees in the multipurpose institutes in Kenya. The sample size was 90 lecturers and trainees in the multipurpose institutes in Kenya. The study used stratified random sampling to select the 23 lecturers and 67 trainees in the multipurpose institutes in Kenya. This method helped to eliminate bias. Therefore the sample size was 90 lecturers and trainees in the multipurpose institutes in Kenya. The study used stratified random sampling to select the 90 lecturers and trainees in the multipurpose institutes in Kenya. Data was collected using semi-structured questionnaires and drop and pick method. Quantitative data was analyzed using Statistical software (SPSS) by running frequencies, cross-tabulations correlation to generate various relationships, frequencies and comparisons. Qualitative data was transcribed and summarized to backup quantitative data. Data was analyzed using descriptive methods. Data was presented in form of figures, tables and charts. The findings showed that leadership style had significant influence on labour turnover. The study recommended that multipurpose training institutes should enact policies that promote the implementation of aspects contributing to the retention of employees in the state corporations. There should be good career prospects within an organization to retain employees for longer duration.

Abstract: Career management practices benefit both employees and the organization they work for. Employees benefit from improved, more marketable skills that allow for increased mobility within the organization while the organization benefits from increased employee talent, performance and commitment and reduce employee intention to leave for alternative employers. The employee performance of manufacturing sector workers in Kenya has been a major concern to the management board, investors and other stakeholders. The prevailing situation at the work place has been one of low work performance and low production level. With the following Specific Objectives of the Study ; to dertemine the role of career planning programs on employees’ performance ,to find out the role of career development program on employees’ performance ,to examine the role of career counselling programs on employees’ performance and finally to determine the role of career development goals and expectations for diverse workforce on employees’ performance. The study population was 2100 employees of Unga Group Limited with a total of 210 employees as sample size. Descriptive survey design was used in this study. Primary and secondary data was used. While self-administered questionnaire and interview guide were used to collect primary data, the study reviewed the previous evaluation reports to seek the secondary data on performance. Based on the findings majority of the respondents indicated that career management strategies has a significant role on employees’ performance.The findings also show that career planning programs, career development program, career counselling programs on employees’ career development goals and expectations for diverse workforce has a significant role on employees’ performance. Therefore the research recommends that the organization top management should adopt a culture that promotes career management. The organization should regularly conduct career planning programs, career development program, career counselling programs on employees’ career development goals and expectations for diverse workforce so as to impact of the knowledge on how career management should be managed.
