Abstract: The main objective of the study was to establish the influence of top management commitment on the implementation of e-procurement in County Governments of Kenya. The target population of this study was the procurement supervisors working in various Departments of the Nairobi City County. The study employed descriptive research design since it minimizes biasness. The study employed the simple random sampling technique to come up with a sample size of 104 respondents from a population of 243. This study also relied on primary data collected by use of questionnaires. The research instruments were validated by use of a pilot study, which was assessed by the procurement managers. Data collected was analyzed by use of Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) Computer Package version 22. The study established a positive correlation between Top management commitment and effective project implementation. The study concluded that Top management commitment was positively related to the effective implementation of E-procurement in County Governments of Kenya.

Abstract: Access to a well-functioning financial system can economically and socially empower individuals and in particular poor people, allowing them to better integrate into the economy of their countries and to actively contribute to their development and protect themselves against economic shocks. The paper examined the contributions of financial accessibility in supporting poverty reduction in northern Uganda. A cross sectional study design was adopted. The data was collected by use of structured and closed ended questionnaire. The findings revealed that financial institutions had not done much to reach the poor, which limits their productivity capacity and capacity to acquire productive assets. While there are isolated pockets of poverty reduction as expressed by participants’ ability to own personal assets and easily manage their dependency burdens, a few individuals have access to better health facilities. The strides to promote financial accessibility are highly commendable, though poverty remains problematic even among those who have access to financial resources. The paper therefore recommends that financial institutions should endeavor to offer financial management training to clients before extending credit to them, especially clients with some noticeable levels of illiteracy. There is also need for a comprehensive analysis on the current poverty reduction models and their impact on the very poor, in terms of production capacity, owning productive assets and living meaningful lives.

Abstract: Identifying the consumer target is important because different consumers may have different brand knowledge structures and thus different perceptions and preferences for the brand. Without this understanding, it may be difficult for marketers to say which brand associations should be strongly held, favorable, and unique. The purpose of the study was to assess the effect of brand image on consumer buying behavior among soft drinks processing firms in Tanzania using a case study of Azam Soft Drinks Company. Azam Soft Drink Company was selected for this study because it is one of the largest soft drinks processing company in Tanzania with the highest consumer base. The research design used was descripto-explanatory which allowed a detailed description and analysis of the variables under study; describing and presenting their characteristics and explaining their relationships without manipulation. The target population comprised of 384 respondents from Dar-es-Salaam region. The study adopted questionnaires as the primary data collection method. The collected data was coded as per the study objectives. Data was analyzed using frequency distributions, percentages, mean, standard deviation and correlation. According to the study findings, brand image influenced consumer buying behavior at Azam Soft Drink Company. Brand loyalty had weak correlation with consumer buying behavior. The study further revealed that brand awareness, perceived quality and association had positive influence on consumer buying behavior. The study concludes that to a great extent brand image positively affects consumer buying behavior at Azam Soft Drinks Company. The study recommends that, Azam Soft Drink Company needs to ensure that they consistently maintain and improve their brand identity so it can be easily for a consumer to recognize and opt to use it. Furthermore, despite the subjective nature of perceived quality, soft drinks companies still need to ensure they conduct adequate research on product development so as to discover new features and add value to their products so as not only sustain but exceed the expectations of what their consumers deem to be of a high quality in order to influence more purchasing decision among customers in every corner of the country.

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of project management drivers on the implementation of Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) projects in the coastal region, Kenya

Methodology: The research design adopted was descriptive research design. The target population was all 5 lot heads, 40 cluster heads and 132 section heads of 66 KURA projects in coastal region, Kenya. A sample size of 63 was arrived at using Fisher’s Formula. Primary data was acquired by use of self-administered questionnaires. For analysis, descriptive statistics such as frequencies, percentages, means and standard deviation and inferential statistics such as correlation, regression and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was used. The p-value for the F-statistic was applied in testing the hypotheses.

Results: Correlation results indicated there was a positive and significant correlation between project resources, project leadership, project contractors competence, stakeholder participation and project implementation. Regression analysis also showed that project resources, project leadership, project contractor’s competence and project stakeholder’s participation have a positive and significant effect on implementation of projects.

Recommendations: The study recommended the government to always ensure it allocates enough money of doing the projects so as to enhance their implementation. In addition, project managers should always ensure that plans and records of income and expenditure are updated on weekly basis. The study also recommends that project managers should always ensure their communication with the junior staff is clear. The study also recommends for the establishment of appropriate project organization structures and formulation of policy in KURA and high involvement of stakeholders in project implementation.

Abstract: This study aimed to determine the caring behavior of staff nurses and level of satisfaction of patients in Notre Dame Hospital and School of Midwifery, Cotabato City. A descriptive correlation and comparative study was conducted to describe the relationship between the caring behavior of staff nurses in terms of caritas processes and the level of satisfaction of patients as well as significant difference in the levels of caring behavior of staff nurses when grouped according to age and length of service or experience. A total of 25 nurses and 50 patients participated in the study.

The study utilized the purposive sampling technique. This also used researcher-made questionnaires. Frequency distribution, percentage and mean for the participants’ profile in terms of (a) age, and (b) length of service/ experience. The weighted mean, standard deviation and grand mean were utilized for the extent of caring behavior of staff nurses and level of satisfaction of patients. The significant difference of participants’ caring behavior when grouped according to age and length of service or experience were explored using t – test. The Pearson r was used to determine the relationship between the caring behavior of staff nurses and level of satisfaction of patients.

The patients were generally highly satisfied with the caring behavior of the staff nurses based on the Caritas Processes. However, the study revealed that there is no significant difference with the levels of caring behavior of staff nurses when grouped according to age and length of service or experience. Therefore, the caring behavior of the staff nurses did not affect patients’ satisfaction. Thus in hiring of nurses, there should be no hesitance in taking in new nurses but as the literature suggest, constant professional development is necessary.

Abstract: England is one of the countries with a long and ancient history with literature, which is called English literature. The history of English literature returns to more than 5 centuries ago, through which the writers, poets and intellectuals in England have built their nation. This research aims to identify the different aspects of English literature in Modern Age according to the classification of different scientists, and the most important literary figures that represented English society aspects in their poems, novels or plays. It also reviewed some of the most dominant influences on writers, poets, and authors of that era such as: industrial era, World War I and World War II. The most famous books, poems, novels or plays were also listed in an attempt to summarize the most important features of this period starting from the early 19th century till now.

With the expansion of hospitals in terms of availability of specialties, improved technologies and facilities shot up the expectations of patients and their relatives to a large extent. So a patient’s satisfaction may not be totally influenced by the quality of care alone. It may not be influenced by the quality of physician available alone, but it reflects how the medical care has been delivered.  Hence there is a dire need to study the level of patient satisfaction. Abstract: The study assesses the perception of vocational lecturers on Inclusion of entrepreneurship education specialization (EES) into NCE Programme in North Central Geo-Political Zone, Nigerian. Four specific objectives were outlined; four research questions were raised for the study. Descriptive survey research was used as the research design; the population of the study consists of Lecturers in School of Vocational and Technical Education, Colleges of Education in with population size of three hundred and ninety-six (396).  A simple random sampling technique was used to draw the sample size of two hundred and sixty-four (264) at 5% for the study. Self Structure questionnaire on a modify four-point rating scale was developed for data collection. The questionnaire was validated by experts in school of vocation and technical education in COE Minna and FCT Zuba. Reliability and validity of the instrument was established through pilot study. The researchers with the help of four trained research assistants administered the instrument. 396 questionnaires were administered but 220 were returned. Data collected was presented in table and analyzed using statistical package IBM version 20. It was used to determine the frequencies and percentages of demographic variable and answer four research questions. Findings of the study revealed that  catering craft practice, garment making, textile trade, tie and dye, cosmetology, keyboarding, shorthand, data processing, marketing, salesmanship, animal husbandry, fisheries, photography, printing craft practice, pottery, auto body repair and spraying, auto electrical work,  auto mechanical work, furniture making, plumbing  and pipe fitting, welding and fabrication, block and concrete work, were identify as professional specialized courses for teachers training programme in Nigeria which can bring innovation into process of producing entrepreneurship educators in different areas of vocational and technical education.  . Base on the findings of the study it was recommended that policy makers should enact laws for inclusion and implementation of EES in colleges of education in Nigeria; TETFund should make fund available for structural facilities such as classroom, laboratory   and incubation Centre for take off of EES in the colleges of education; and TETFund should provide fund for entrepreneurship education capacity building training of the staff at both national and international level.

Abstract: Monopsony is a market with one buyer many sellers, and no close substitute for the goods in question. It exist in both product and labour markets. A monopsony has buying or bargaining power in their market; this buying power means that a monopsony can exploit their bargaining power with a supplier to negotiate lower prices. It is often difficult to assess the strength of monopsony power, it depends on how the market is defined because if large enough, there will always be another buyer.

Abstract: African indigenous women have always been underrated in scholarly discourses though instrumental in the growth and survival of local economies. It is in this regard that this paper highlights the status of the Mamfe women and their roles in the domain of artistry, fishing, agriculture, palm oil/kernel production, salt production, the sewing service, education and skilled jobs, investments and, trade in the years, 1922-1961.  The paper argues that female labour was the most contributing factor to food production, household upkeep and the growth of the local economy of Mamfe in British Southern Cameroon. It debunks the untested opinions of some Cameroonians that associated the Mamfe women to solely prostitution- a perception that ignored the women’s potentials and the vital role of female labour.  The data analysed was collected from primary sources: oral interviews with targeted participants and witnesses, archival materials and theses and, secondary sources: published books, journals and the internet. The historical mode has been used, largely qualitative analysis presented in a thematic manner. Findings reveal that during the years reviewed, Mamfe women were suppressed and engulfed in a patriarchy culture. Yet, they were the backbones of households; ensured food security and stirred the growth of the Mamfe economy. The, paper concludes that women are a key resource in rural economies as exemplified in Mamfe, which is reflective of other parts of Africa including Cameroon. Implementing gender-based policies would therefore enhance women’s participation in the development of rural economies- a prerequisite to food security and poverty alleviation in Mamfe- Cameroon and Africas in general.

Abstract: This research explores the use of code switching among Iraqi postgraduate students in their academic discourse. This study utilizes qualitative research methods by using a purposive sampling to recruit the Iraqi postgraduate students who are registered in Malaysian universities for different programs. There are 4 males and 4 females selected for the interviews from different fields of study. Each pair from the same gender is separately included in discussion session. This study showed that the syntactic constrains is occurred within major constituents including the noun phrase, verb phrase, and nouns while, the smaller constituents occurred with conjunction, preposition, determiner and free morphemes. However, the participants are used the code switching within academic and scientific subjects, technology terms, and popular terms related to their Iraqi dialect.

Abstract: This article seeks to analyze the ways conflict resolution can be employed to avoid the escalation of conflicts ultimately maintaining peace in the region. The article will highlight the reasons for conflict in these counties as cattle rustling and competition for the scarce resources. Turkana and Baringo are located in the semi-arid region in Kenya that is prone to drought and famine because of the unfavorable climate changes which poses a threat to conflict in the region. Abstract: Strategy implementation is key to achieving organizational success. In Kenya, the total number of chartered public universities increased from 21 in 2015 to 31 by 2017. All these 31 universities have been competing for students, staff and government resources. After 2010, 11 public universities were established as constituent colleges and 8 of them chartered by the end of 2017. These newly chartered universities are operating in a challenging environment ranging from competition with older and better established universities with better infrastructure and human resource capacity to diminishing number of students making it to the universities through direct placement by Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service to self-sponsorship and diminishing government funding among others. These factors are subjecting them to operational stress.  To enhance performance and enable these newly chartered universities compete effectively in the prevailing circumstances, there is need for development and implementation of strategy to guarantee institutional success. So far, no study has addressed factors influencing strategy implementation in these universities chartered in 2016/2017. This study investigated the extent to which implementation of strategy by these universities is affected by Government Funding and Human Resource Capacity. Data was collected from 8 public universities which were chartered in 2016/2017.  The study targeted top and middle management staff.  Stratified sampling technique and census approach were used to sample 95 respondents from a target population of 108 staff.  Data was collected using questionnaires.  Data was cleaned, coded and analyzed using statistical package for social sciences and presented in form of descriptive statistics (frequencies, percentages, mean, range and standard deviation), tables and graphs. The study found that inadequate and delayed funding and a weak human resource structure. Human Resource Management policies have a negative effect on implementation of strategy. Lack of well-defined employee policy incorporating incentives, motivation, training and development also led to inefficient strategy implementation.  In order to remain operational in the face of these challenges, it is recommended that government considers allocating sufficient funding to cover the first ten years of establishment to support infrastructure and human resource development and to ensure sustainability.  These universities should also develop and implement Human Resource policies to accommodate employee training and other forms of motivation these universities should also diversify revenue streams with view to enhancing performances and long term sustainability.

Abstract: The present paper deals with the theory of liberalism given by philosophers like John Locke, Immanuel Kant and J. S. Mill. Locke, being often credited as the father of modern liberalism, advocated individualism. He made right to life, liberty and property as basic rights. Kant further developed the theory of liberalism in terms of autonomy, tolerance and sovereignty. Lastly, Mill included Utilitarianism in order to support liberalism. Hence, liberalism as a philosophical concept embraces beliefs and opinions of almost two centuries.
