Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic has taken up so much change to the environment, the economy, to relationships, and most especially to people. This event has made people adapt to a new era that accommodates the existence of the virus as well as its variants by wearing masks, face shields, practicing quarantine, and having to receive the vaccines.  This study solely focused on Goldberg's (1993) Big Five Personality Theory as it was correlated with Filipino APOR's (Authorized Person of Residence) mask usage hesitancy when they leave the house while also comparing the severity of mask usage hesitancy to the actual effectiveness of the different masks. Using a non-experimental correlational approach, the researchers had 150 respondents, aged 18-64, that were given the instruments via Google Forms to attain the the COVID-19 pandemic Quarantine Order effective in the Philippines at that time. Using One-way ANOVA to test, the researchers were given the ability to determine the variance in its variables and also answer the inquiry of how the Big Five Personality traits can correlate to a person's mask usage hesitancy.

Abstract: Consumption which is a driving force in promoting economic activities in the global economy depends largely on utilization of natural resources to derive consumer satisfaction. Whereas consumers aim at maximizing satisfaction, this has been accompanied by increased degradation of the environment resulting from irrational consumption behaviours which is threatening the very systems that the current and future generation depends on.  The objectives of the study included an examination of the relationship between mindfulness and self-transcendence, the relationship between self-transcendence and sustainable consumer behaviour, the relationship between mindfulness and sustainable consumer behaviour and the mediating effect of self-transcendence on the relationship between mindfulness and sustainable consumer behaviour. The study was carried out from Uganda and the population consisted of university students and workers. Using structural equations modelling, study findings indicate that there is a positive significant relationship between mindfulness and self-transcendence. It was also found out that the relationship between self-transcendence and sustainable consumer behaviour is positively significant. Further, it was found out that the relationship between mindfulness and sustainable consumer behaviour is significantly positive. The mediating effect of self-transcendence on the relationship between mindfulness and sustainable consumer behaviour was also found to be positively significant.

Abstract: The thrust of this study was to investigate gender differentials in access to loans from Sidian Bank in Kenya, in relation to improvement of livelihoods.  The study specifically set out to establish the amounts of money accessed by any one gender from Sidian bank from 2013 to 2019; find out how men and women have utilised the borrowed money from Sidian Bank; investigate the relationship between access and livelihood improvements of households. This study was guided by the capability theoretical approach and the Gender-Related Development Index (GDI). The study adopted mixed method approach, convergent design. The target population was men and women borrowers of Sidian Bank; their spouses; government officials and Sidian Bank staff. The research targeted 324 borrowers, 51 men and 273 women. The researcher used systematic sampling to classify the subjects into men and women as individuals and also as members of joint liability groups. Research was conducted using hybrid questionnaire; semi structured questions consisting of both open and close ended questions, observation schedule and interview guides to collect data. Secondary data was collected from, articles, and websites of microfinance banks and institutions.   Quantitative data was analysed using Statistical Program for Social Scientists (SPPS) and presented in simple statistics using graphs, charts, tables, percentages, while qualitative data was reported in prose. The study found out that there was a gender dimension in the amount of loans borrowed from Sidian bank with fewer men than women borrowers but with most men borrowing bigger loans. Differentials in utilisation of loans between men and women were also noted with most women spending their money in the consumables while men invested in income generating projects and permanent investments. The study established that the effects of loans on livelihoods were greatly affected by the structure of a house hold due to different gender roles in households. It concluded that though there are more women borrowers their utilisation of loans led only to temporary livelihood improvements as they mainly did not invest in income generating projects and strained in repayments and sometimes lost household items when they could not repay the loans in time. Men had advantages over women in accessing loans as regulations were discriminative. Stakeholders should make sure that the gender policies in place are considered and reviewed from time to time for example the issue of being guaranteed and signed for by the spouses whether men or women. Lending institutions should give more training to the borrowers for proper utilisation.

Abstract: The development of technology has helped a lot in teaching and learning English. Technology can be a tool to help the teacher of English facilitate language learning. There are many aspects of using technology in teaching but, Blended Learning (BL) approach has become a matter of interest to language teachers all over the world. Blended Learning combines the traditional face-to-face teaching and online teaching. It rests on the strengths of both teaching approaches. This study provides a comprehensive review of relevant literature on the use of Blended Learning in teaching and learning English. Moreover, it focuses on the use of technology in general and specifically on Blended Learning approach, its models, tools and advantages. The literature highlighted great benefits of Blended Learning on learning and teaching in general and specifically on English learning and teaching.

Abstract: The study examined the effect of insecurity on the hotel patronage in Northern Nigeria with a specific focus on Borno, Adamawa and Katsina States. The states in particular & Nigeria, as a country, is faced with the challenges of terrorism acts such as bombings, bandit, kidnapping, armed robbery as well as ethno-religious conflicts which all have dangerous potentials of turning states and the country fortune as one of the tourist destinations of choice in the world. Four (4) research questions, guided the study. The population of the study consisted of three hundred (300) staff from four (4) selected hotels from each state. The sample size for the study was one hundred and seventy-one (171) from the population of (300) using Taro Yemen’s formula. Data were collected using questionnaire and observation through the media. Data were analyzed using the descriptive method. The findings of the study indicate that insecurity has dangerous implications on Northern states, hospitality industry as well as on the entire country as a destination. Based on the findings, therefore, it was recommended that the circumstances which give rise to terrorism be looked into and addressed particularly through the public and private partnership.

Abstract: This study intended to assess the effects of classroom management and professional collaboration in lesson development among teachers on effective professional development to Shanghai secondary school teachers in China. The study used Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS) data which was conducted in 2018 by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). The data were analyzed by Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS). The results showed the increase of the needs for professional development for diversity cause an increase of the needs for professional development for subject matter. At the same time, when the exchange and cooperation among teachers increases, resulting to the increase of professional collaboration in lesson development. Also, the gender differences were identified in the selected variables such as classroom management, collaboration in lesson development and effective professional development. However, the findings revealed that, classroom management was very low to predict effective teacher professional development while the professional collaboration was very high to predict effective professional development. Hence, the school principals are held accountable to show that their faculties are engaged in highly effective professional development

Abstract: The purpose of the study was to find out the relationship between reading strategies and the Lexile score of the online reading comprehension program ‘Literacy Pro’. It was hypothesized that the reading strategies adopted by students and the same recommended by the teachers have a positive intervening effect on the Lexile scores. The findings of the study were not completely supportive as hypothesized. The moderated mediation regression results are not reflecting any significant improvement in the Lexile score of students through the intervention of reading strategies adopted by the students and the training imparted to that effect by the teachers. The technology oriented ‘Literacy Pro’ is a multi-component reading skill development program. Reading comprehension is the product of multiple skills and knowledge sources, and the struggling readers often experience difficulty in multiple reading skills. The foundational skills such as word identification, vocabulary knowledge, and reading fluency in addition to strategies are necessary to construct meaning of the text and reading comprehension. Teachers must promote text discussions in the classroom, provide online quiz competitions to improve vocabulary, grammar, and construction of the sentences of a given text in the online reading program. An attractive and motivating software application shall be developed and integrated to ‘Literacy Pro’ for individual learning practices and reading comprehension.

Abstract: The objective of the study on the influence of project management practices on performance of alcoholic beverage manufacturing industry in Tanzania. The study was conducted in Tanzania Breweries Limited (TBL). It was performed based on three hypotheses which are project planning, project execution and project monitoring and evaluation which were tested on organization performance. The study was performed using explanatory design through causality testing practices with the data being collected in the case study from 100 respondents. The facts were obtained using questionnaires which were structured. The collected results were computed in SPSS data sheet for generating significant statistics in filling the gap. Frequency tables and percentages as descriptive statistics were generated first and described the profile of the respondents. In addition to that, correlation and multiple regression were described to show the relationship between study variables. Findings stated that all three independent variables such as project planning, project execution and project monitoring and evaluation have positive effect and significant statistically on organization performance. This implies that organization performance in project management practices is determined by project planning, project execution and project monitoring and evaluation. The study further recommended that it is important for the organization to have adequate project management practices to assure performance in the task undertaking for the organization.
