Abstract: Measles is prominent and recognised as empathetic health distress in tropical regions of
the domain.  In spite of the achievements of routine national childhood vaccination programs, it largely remains a public health care concern. This study tends to explore the experiences and perceptions of mothers in the use of measles immunization information in Adamawa and Taraba states respectively. The study adopts a qualitative research methodology with a semi-structured interview. Six mothers of children under five years of age, for those who receive measles vaccination and who do not, were interviewed and cross-examined in various local government areas, which were randomly selected in both Adamawa and Taraba states. The data collected were audio recorded, transcribed verbatim, and subjected to thematic content analysis. The research employed the Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA) framework. The model has three main constructs, which include Behavioural intention; attitude, and subjective norms are those defects that affect mothers toward the use of information on measles immunization. The study revealed that measles immunization information is irrelevant and could not stop the disease. It is generally recommended that mothers should be enlightened explicitly on various vaccine-preventable diseases and their jeopardies to the child‘s well-being. Thereby depressing their traditional beliefs through various media like public libraries, NGOs, and or UNICEF.

Abstract: Disability among children is one of the burning problems in India and the world. Many children have suffered from disabilities. The disability of children can affect a family's finance, employment and health in the shape of direct and indirect costs. Direct cost includes medical care, medicines, therapies and indirect cost includes expenses on transportation, education, caregiving etc. According to the 2011 census there are 2.68 Cr persons are disabled population are living in India which is 2.21% of the total population. The present study is conducted with the caregivers of the disabled children of Visakhapatnam. The study found that (80%) of the caregivers are between 26 and 60 years age group. The study found that an average of 85.2% of caregivers surveyed had no formal education. The study found that the majority of the respondents (40%) not working and the remaining are working only do agriculture or daily wage. The majority (75%) of the respondents have reported that they don't get time for themselves and more than 55% have issues of anxiety and somatic problems. The study found that the majority (80%) of the respondents have strained relationships due to the impact of their caregiving. The majority of the respondents worry about their livelihood security. The study suggested that there is a separate intervention to promote the quality of life of children with disability

Abstract: Kenya's banking industry is one of East Africa's best known and has tremendous potential. Commercial banks play a crucial part in improving the transition of credit from surplus to deficit, thus promoting local economic activities. However, in recent times, banks have found that customers' credit efficiency has decreased, late payments, or bad debts has affected the bank's profits. Bad loans from commercial banks in Kenya continue to erode banks' profitability, hampering the financial performance of the industry. Therefore, this study sought to investigate the effect of capital adequacy on the lending performance of commercial banks in Kenya. To meet the study's objectives, an explanatory research design was adopted. In this study, the demography refers to the complete spectrum of institutions relevant to the examination. The report's primary audience was Kenyan banks. From 2016 to 2021, 39 banks were fully operational and used. Because the population is small, the entire population was studied. A subset of a study population is chosen for sampling. From 2016 to 2021, the study sample included thirty-nine fully operational Kenyan commercial banks. As a result, because it encompassed all business organizations in Kenya, the assessment was essentially a census. The model found a clear relationship between the investigation parameters. Accounting records from the banks and CBK statistical reports were used for this study. Capital adequacy as noted by the regression outcome signify an inverse significantly effect on loan performance of commercial banks in Kenya. The study concluded that capital adequacy provides the commercial banks with the platform for effective loan management options toward optimum performance in Kenya. The study recommended that that the size of the board should be determined by the companies listed strength as this is critical due to the fact that each company has unique tax planning goal hence the determination of the size of the board should be strengthen by each firm.

Abstract: Theatrical lighting is essential in the preparation, articulation and expression of the mythos of African performances. It is a core performance element that livens, embellishes, reveals and frames both the content and context of African performances. However, the continuum of theatre and human society has made such creative dexterity less sacrosanct as it continues to adapt to emergent ideas and innovations. Continuing change in human thinking and innovations, coupled with audience needs and or pressures for new aestheticism have consistently percolated the lighting creative space, thus making it more dynamic. On this premise, this paper examines the tradition, change and continuity in the lighting technology of African performances. Finding reveals that this technical element has experienced three levels of transition, namely; ‘simplistic’ technology in the form of sun, moon, and lightening to a more ‘complexified’ technology in the form of flame fire in its variegated formations as meet performance forms and or typologies. This stage also witnessed the combination of bonfire, sun, moon and lightening. Finally, a hybridization of African and modern lighting technology. The paper concludes that the knowledge of African performance lighting craftsmanship is essential for future generation of its bearers as it will guide in the creative process. The paper encourages more research in this area for purposes of documentation and transmission of these creative ideas.

Abstract: Over time, scientists have found that floods affect long-term economic growth. It is on this note that this study examined the effect of flooding on the Nigerian Economic Growth: A case study of Lokoja Kogi State. Other research demonstrates significant income growth differences. However, flood consequences in north central Nigeria have been little documented. Using the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) to assess and plan for certain natural and man-made disasters. Comparative correlations were created using descriptive statistics, frequency tables, and percentages. The study concluded that High rainfall levels in Lokoja, Kogi State, affect farms, crop output, livestock, and food availability. We therefore, concluded that, there is high impacts of exposure to floods on the growth of gross state domestic product (GSDP) and human development index (HDI) in Nigeria cannot be over emphasized as such we recommended that  the government should help the flood victims. Many victims need refuge and food. After the floods recede, they need money, water, and seeds.

Abstract: The study titled suitability of Office Technology and Management Graduates as perceived by employers of labour in polytechnics within the North Eastern Nigeria was conducted to determine the suitability of Office Technology and Management graduates in today’s office. The study was necessary in order to find out the perception of employers of labour on how suitable OTM graduates are in today’s office. Two research questions and one null hypothesis guided the study. Descriptive survey research design was adopted. The population of the study was 330 employers of labour from polytechnics within north eastern Nigeria. 20 items structured questionnaire on a 4-point rating scale was used to draw data from respondents. The questionnaire was validated by three experts. Cronbach alpha reliability was used to test the reliability of the instrument and the coefficient was 0.89 showing that the instrument was highly reliable. The instrument was administered by the researchers and research assistants. Total number of 353 questionnaires were distributed, while 330 were retrieved constituting about 94% of the distributed questionnaires. Mean and Standard deviation were used to answer the research questions and t-test was used to test the null hypothesis, at 0.05 level of significance. The findings of the study revealed among others that employers of labour perceived that OTM graduates with sub-listed cognitive skills were suitable for today’s world of work and these skills are what make OTM graduates to really display the real image of the organization. There was no significant difference in the opinions of more experienced and less experienced employers of labour and the opinions of employers of labour from federal polytechnics and their counterparts from the state polytechnics in North Eastern Nigeria, therefore the null hypothesis was accepted because the null hypothesis t-cals was less than t-table values. It was recommended among others that employers of labour in polytechnics within North Eastern Nigeria should list out suitable skills they perceived suitable for OTM graduates. If this is done, OTM graduates in polytechnics within North Eastern Nigeria will work towards that and thus be ready to cope with the routine office tasks.

Abstract:  The number of students quitting school before passing their matriculation examination is a major cause for concern. A highly qualified workforce is necessary due to the acceleration of technological advancement and the emergence of new, more challenging job prospects. Since underachievement hinders the growth of the labor force, each student should be encouraged to perform at his best level. A perfect school environment gives better chances of a better performance. However, many students in Kenya, particularly in Githunguri Sub-County, whose performance has been very low, and the underlying Social Adjustment Indices that influence their Academic Achievement at secondary school have not received appropriate research. Determining the Influence of Social Adjustment Indices on Academic Achievement among students in public secondary schools in Githunguri Sub-County, Kenya, was the main goal of the current study. Among students in public secondary schools in Githunguri Sub-County, the following objectives were set to determine the relationship between Social Withdrawal and academic achievement. The concurrent embedded research design was used using Creswell's mixed method technique. The selection of the participating schools and students was done using stratified random, purposive, and saturation sampling procedures. A population of 2787 students, 38 deputy principals, and 38 teachers of guidance and counselling were selected for the study, from which 350 form two students, 15 deputy principals, and 15 instructors of guidance and counselling made up the study sample. For data collection, the present study included questionnaires, interview schedules, and document analysis. A pilot study used 35 form-two students from four public secondary schools in the Githunguri Sub-County. Two specialists from Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology verified the validity of the instruments. Using Cronbach's alpha, internal consistency was employed to determine the instrument's reliability, and a reliability coefficient above 0.7 was found. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 22.0 examined quantitative data. Inferential statistics involved Pearson Product Moment correlation coefficient, simple and multiple regression analysis, and ANOVA, and descriptive statistics covered frequency counts, percentages, averages, standard deviation, and variance. Hypotheses were evaluated at a 5% level of significance. Thematic analysis was employed to examine qualitative data. The results also showed a negative relationship between Social Disengagement and Academic Accomplishment (n=308, r = -.345; p.05). According to the present study's findings, Social Adjustment Indices should be incorporated into school guidance and counseling policies and practices since they have a major impact on academic attainment.

Abstract: Internet is an important part of our daily lives and its usage has grown rapidly worldwide. The internet is used for a variety of activities including studying, playing online games, sending emails and engaging in real time chatting. Internet addiction among 187 clinical medical students in Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Awka, Nigeria was studied. Males were 108 (57.8%) and the age group 21-24 years had the highest proportion of students (53.4%). Majority, 186 (99.5%) had access to the internet and 66 (35.3%) spent 4 hour or more daily on the internet.  The average monthly expenditure on internet access ranged from N200 to N10,000 (approximately $0.44 - $22.22) with modal expenditure of N1,000 ($2.22). Those that frequently, often or always neglected their studies to stay online were 20 (10.7%), 20 (10.7%) and 11(5.9%) respectively. Results also showed that 1.1%, 20.3% and 41.7% were severely, moderately and mildly addicted to internet use, respectively. Younger age <25 years was significantly associated with internet addiction (p <0.05). There was no significant association between sex, class level, residence and internet addiction (p > 0.05). The most commonly used gadget for browsing the internet was mobile phone, 179 (95.7%). Awareness on the effects of internet addiction should be created.

Abstract: This study project embarked on findings out the effect of strategic positioning on firm performance of listed commercial banks in Kenya. This study was guided by following theories namely; Porter’s five forces model and the market-based view of the firm theory. The target population of the study consisted of employees of the 11 Commercial Banks listed in Kenya. The unit of observation comprised of 11 listed Commercials Bank in Kenya while the unit of analysis was the employees in the carder of senior management team, middle-level managers as well as managers at functional level. Systematic random sampling was used to sample 384 employees at the management level. A pilot test of 38 respondents was conducted to detect weaknesses in design and instrumentation. The study preferred a mixed research design. The questionnaire was used as the main mode of data collection. The data was analyzed through the use of descriptive statistics. ANOVA, t-test, Pearson correlation, p- values and coefficient of determination was used in the data analysis. Data was presented using tables, figures, graphs, frequency tables, pie charts and use of histograms, frequency polygons and bar charts. Strategic positioning correlated positively to the performance indicators expressed in profits, return on assets and equity as they increase marginally. The correlation analysis that was done on the strategic positioning and performance showed that, a significant effect exists between strategic positioning and performance of commercial banks in Kenya. The researcher recommends that the ethical considerations and competencies should be given a keen attention and on performance a focus on customer satisfaction should equally be emphasized. Additionally, another research can be done on the influence of strategic positioning on performance of the non-financial firms as its recommendations can be very valuable.

Abstract: For millennials, engaging in games on their mobile devices has evolved into an intriguing leisure activity.  With the diversity of online, free apps available, mobile games are a highly helpful learning tool in the educational setting.  It is a determinant of how adolescents and young adults develop in their day-to-day lives.  The paper will examine the real-world experiences of mobile gamers and draw themes from their narratives.  The information was acquired using the method of qualitative research through focus group discussions, interviews, and observation. The five participants in this study met the following requirements: played at least three distinct mobile games and spent a maximum of 10 hours per day playing mobile games.

Abstract: This study explored the relationship between environmental awareness and practices. It sought to determine the level of environmental awareness and the extent of environmental practices and examine the correlation of the environmental awareness and environmental practices of the Junior High School students. This utilized correlational descriptive research and identified simple random sampling using Likert Scale survey-questionnaire and nonparametric correlation grouped with four environmental themes. This study found a high and good level of environmental awareness and practices in Stewardship and Finiteness of Resources. It also revealed contradicting levels of environmental awareness and practices in Change where it had a ‘high’ and ‘poor’ interpretations while in Materials Cycle had fairly aware and good interpretations. The study expressed an impressive overall high and good levels of interpretations yet displayed a weak correlation between environmental awareness and practices using the Spearman’s rho coefficient. It suggested creating programs that increase environmental  awareness and practices.

Abstract: The Covid-19 epidemic lock downs have had a significant impact on the development of reading among young language learners around the world for the past three years. Certainly, the support of family members at home, who served as facilitators of the young elementary learners during the distance learning, needs to be strengthened. The researchers wanted to see how different family-based support systems were used at home before and after the epidemic. The researcher conducted a systematic literature review in which studies on this topic were evaluated using inclusion-exclusion criteria, and it was discovered that there are four types of family-based support systems for reading at home: home-based shared reading support, play and learn systems, parental intervention support, and promoting writing prompts and reading support. The major impacts of the support system were divided into three categories: motivating and promising effects, linguistic development effects, and family relationship strengthening effects. It was suggested that increasing community participation in reading campaigns is critical to helping the community meet its reading challenge.

Abstract: The main objective of this study was to determine the relationship of compliance with contract conditions and performance of public universities in central region, Kenya. The study was anchored on the agency theory, transaction cost theory, general systems theory and contract compliance theory. The study used descriptive research. The study targeted population was 371 staff, sampling frame had 339 staff comprising of 172 staffs from procurement departments and 167 from finance departments out of which a sample size of 183 staff was drawn. The staff were from procurement and finance departments at Chuka, Dedan Kimathi, Karatina, Embu, Kirinyaga, JKUAT and Murang’a Universities. The study used cluster sampling technique to sample respondents from each university. The study then adopted a census approach for data collection. Semi structured questionnaires were the only research instrument in the study. Data collection involved drop and pick later method to allow the respondents enough time to respond to the questions. Data was analyzed using both inferential and descriptive statistical tools such as correlation and regression analysis, descriptive analysis was also adopted with the help of statistical software for social sciences version 26. The findings were presented in the form of frequency tables and charts. The study established that compliance with contract conditions had significant effect of (β=.549). Research recommendation was that public universities should ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions by the supplier/service, ensure parties to contracts understand contract document their roles and rights in the procurement process.
