Abstract: Building a socialist rule of law state in Vietnam is currently one of the most important political tasks in our country. The situation of reality requires that it is necessary to deepen and study the ideas of the rule of law state of modern Western philosophy in association with the historical conditions for its birth in order to apply the system of rule of law ideology into building the rule of law in Vietnam in the current period. With that in mind, with a systematic research method of materialist dialectic, this article mainly clarifies the conditions and premise for the birth of the idea of ​​the rule of law in Western philosophy during the pre-modern period.

Abstract: Family plays an important and powerful role in the lives of young adults. Adulthood is a crucial age range for young people, as they face a variety of difficulties in their lives at this age. Young adults may face rejection and feelings of isolation. The aim of this research is to examine the degree of loneliness and the type of locus of control among young adults from joint and nuclear families. A total of 134 young adults between the ages of 18 and 22, from both joint and nuclear families, were recruited. For data collection, random sampling was used as a sampling technique. The UCLA Loneliness Scale (version 3) was created by Daniel W. Russell in 1996, and the participants were given the Locus of Control Scale Indian Adaptation of the Levenson Scale (Vohra, 1992). Since the research was conducted in 2019 during the COVID-19 Pandemic, data was collected online using Google Forms. Microsoft Office Excel was used to analyze the results. Two samples were used for summary statistics and the t-test, assuming unequal variance. The findings revealed that there was no difference in levels of loneliness between adults from joint families and those from nuclear families. It also observed that among young adults from joint families and nuclear families, there was no significant difference in internal locus of control and chance factor of locus of control.

Abstract: Thai Nguyen University of Technology was established under the Decree No. 31/CP/1994 of the Government along with the establishment of Thai Nguyen University of Technology on the basis of the predecessor branch of Polytechnic University in Thai Nguyen Iron and Steel area. The current training scale of the University is about 8,000 students of all training levels with 21 undergraduate training programs and 07 master's degree programs. In the face of changes in domestic and international situations, the University has jointly adopted new countermeasures in which digital transformation is an important content and solution in development. This article generalizes the basic issues of digital transformation in education, the current situation of this issue at the Thai Nguyen University of Technology today with pointing out the achieved results and difficulties in the implementation. From there, the author proposes some solutions to promote the digital transformation movement in education at the University.

Abstract: The call for environmental protection has been a major preoccupation of academic enquiries. Its urgency has necessitated researches outside the natural science disciplines, contributing to this global concern. Consequently, the language discipline has discovered point of intersection, just as demanded by some of its renowned scholars. Adopting the conceptual metaphor approach, this paper hence, carries out an ecolinguistic analysis of discourses on flooding in select print media publications in Nigeria. Drawing insights from the Pragglejaz Group’s Metaphor Identification Procedure (MIP), the needed data are sourced from four national daily newspapers published between the year 2012 and 2020. The selected data are analysed using the lens of Conceptual Metaphor Theory (CMT) as put forward by Lakoff and Johnson. The findings reveal that, concepts from the source domains of WAR, ANGRY MONSTER as well as CONTAINER SUBSTANCE, amongst others, have been adopted to talk about the target domain of flood. It posits that, these reports adopted these metaphors to reveal the conceptualization of flood as a catastrophe in the nation. The aim is to reawaken the need to manage and prevent flood disaster in the nation, and by extension, protect the environment from harm orchestrated by unfavourable natural and human influence. In conclusion, this study posits that, language is indispensable in addressing ecological issues. The evoked concepts reawaken our consciousness towards flood disaster management, which ensures environmental protection and sustainability.

Abstract: Language is humanity’s valuable asset and has continued to lend itself to various communicational functions in all humanity’s quests, encounters and spheres. Advertising, a thriving subset of communication, has constantly evolved alongside humanity and human enterprise and has continued to thrive on the wings of language, which come in handy in performing actual societal functions subsumed in acts. It is against this backdrop that this paper examines the pragmatic dimensions of advertising discourses. Its focus is on the pragmatic acts performed by cosmetics advertisements. It analyses the pragmemes and practs in 10 advertisements got from the website of Tara Cosmetics (www.houseoftara.com), a Nigerian cosmetic brand. The study adopts Jacob Mey’s (2001) Pragmatic Act Theory as a working framework. The research also adopts a descriptive qualitative method to analyse data sourced purposively from the wide corpora of cosmetics advertisements on the internet site of the local cosmetic brand. The study reveals using practing, situational setting-up and co-opting that the target audience is influenced by acts performed using texts and visuals. It further indicates that Tara cosmetics advertisements pull out acts which messages are based on social contexts to project practs of advising, counseling, persuading and recommending. This is achievable through the employment of activity-based items of speech act, indirect speech act, facial expression and contextual features of reference, relevance, inference, shared situational and cultural knowledge. The study reveals that advertising discourses do not only dwell on explication as, most often than not, there are implied messages, arrived at through contextual navigation, which cause a change in the scheme of events. It then concludes that as advertisements are replete with pragmatic acts couched in implicature, the capability of drawing deductive inference is key to understanding advertising messages.

Abstract: This study aims to explore students’ opinions and perspectives regarding career development and evaluation using focus group interviews at Algonquin College of Kuwait from last semester. The focus group interview was conducted with five students. The results indicated that the teachers provided Knowledge and information in supporting the career development of students, shared their personal experiences with the subject, and planned activities at the College to assist and secure knowledge and information. Additionally, each student has their own objectives, such as business management. However, some students were exclusively interested in entrepreneurship. While some students want to focus on completing their degree, others want to start their own businesses as their professional objective. In order for the student to gain career experience, the students are taught at the university some subjects that help them gain knowledge in their future job for example, when the students are in the foundation, they learn some of the courses like writing skills, reading skills, and grammar. Also, these courses help the student to improve their skills before moving to the major to which they belong.

Abstract: The main objective of this study is to shed more light on the concept of customer satisfaction in Kuwait banking sector. More specifically, this study sought to identify the factors affecting customer satisfaction in the Kuwait banking sector. In order to achieve this objective, this study used a focus group interview method to investigate the opinions of six customers in the Kuwait banking sector based on their experiences and perspectives on the evaluation of banking services. Moreover, this study used the method of thematic analysis for a focus group interview analysis using NVivo software. The results of this study indicated that customer satisfaction within the banking sector has the potential of improving overall customer loyalty and retention rates. Additionally, higher levels of customer satisfaction are more likely to boost word-of-mouth marketing for the bank, since there are higher chances of satisfied customers recommending the services to friends and relatives. Moreover, levels of satisfaction are attributed to aspects such as the professional treatment of clients by bank employees, honesty and integrity in dealing with the transactions of clients, as well as offering support to customers which in turn fosters a high sense of confidence in the bank. This study recommends the Kuwait banking sector adopt a personalized approach when dealing with customers. There is a need for these banks in Kuwait to improve access to customer support channels and ensure that they respond to customer complaints and issues.

Abstract: This paper provides a framework for the Rhododendron study tour in Mount Emei, Sichuan. Study tourism teaching is an innovative method. The teacher assigns students a Rhododendron study tourism teaching task in the tourism environment course. Rhododendrons are woody flowering plant that grows at altitudes of 500-1,200 meters in mountain shrubland or under pine forests. They are a typical acidic soil indicator plant in south-central and southwestern China. The Rhododendron study tourism teaching selects Mount Emei areas at an altitude of about 2,500 meters as the destination. Students view the Rhododendron and investigate and analyze the ecological environment of Rhododendrons. Students submit a report of about 1,200 words, based on which the teacher qualitatively assesses the results.

Abstract: The objective of this study was to establish how customer perspective affect performance management of the banks. The following theories supported this study which include stakeholder theory, competence theory, diffusion of innovation theory and budgeting theory. The descriptive design was used with questionnaire as the instrument used in data collection. E-Questionnaires were emailed to the banks. The target population was 44 branches of KCB Bank Group and Consolidated Bank. The unit of observation was one operations manager, branch manager and human resource manager from each bank. The study conducted a census on all the branches. Data collected was analyzed using SPSS version 25 to present data in form of frequencies, descriptive and inferential statistics which were used to derive conclusions. The study conducted a multiple regression analysis to determine the relationship between the variables. The study presented findings in form of tables and figures. The results indicated that there was a positive and significant relationship between customer perspective and performance management.

Abstract: Many stakeholders expressed concerns about what they felt were missing or inappropriate planning practices in schools. In addition, most schools lack their goals and objectives, which is reflected in the poor academic performance of students. Garissa County has been backward in terms of education since independence. Like other organizations, schools are also subject to similar performance influences. The results of admission, retention and testing in the county have been consistently low compared to the national average. Therefore, this study sought to investigate the influence of continuous improvement on the performance of public secondary schools in Garissa County, Kenya. The study targeted 42 public secondary schools in Garissa County, Kenya. There were 84 respondents, including 42 principals and 42 deputy principals. The study was made with 84 respondents. Collection of data was done using questionnaires. Analysis of quantitative data using descriptive statistics such as mean and standard deviation was done. In addition, the inferential statistics included the use of multiple regression and correlation analysis. According to the findings, continual improvement has a good and significant impact on the performance of public secondary schools in Garissa County, Kenya. The study concluded that when a school is consistently improving, various little, slow improvements occur day by day and in ways that, over time, influence several parts of a school or educational system. The study recommended that the schools must have the staff knowledge, talents, and competence required for continuous improvement in order to improve educational results and sustain improvement over time.

Abstract: Nigeria's anti-corruption campaign was initiated by the government of Nigeria and is still predominantly being led by the government. Notwithstanding the renewed anti-corruption efforts since 2015 as well as the existence of a National Anti-corruption Strategy (NACS) since 2017, implementation of the campaign especially by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) has not been seen as successful. This study was exploratory and primary data were collected through Key Informants Interviews (KIIs) interviews conducted on 15 persons that were selected from the ICPC Headquarters in Abuja using purposive samples. Also, secondary data were obtained through online sources that were analysed and presented using descriptive method. The research findings revealed several issues in the implementation of Nigeria's anti-corruption campaigns, including selective prosecution and political interference in the anti-corruption fight; seemingly lack of transparency and inadequate political will to fight corruption on the part of government; lack of trust in the judiciary as offenders are still able to evade justice because of the weakness and corruption in the criminal justice system; poor management of the recovered loots such that there is presently no visible positive impact of the corruption war on the masses in respect of their welfare and even their daily experiences, among others. Based on these issues and challenges, the study concluded that if the suggested recommendations are implemented, Nigeria's anti-corruption campaigns could be more robust and successful, especially, when it involves commitment of more stakeholders and the common people who would voluntarily but actively participate and support it.

Abstract: Modern piracy has been an increasing phenomenon in the last decade. The pirate attacks to commercial and private vessels in the Horn of Africa, are growing to a very fast pace that the International Community is obliged under International Law to take measures to suppress piracy. In practice, the level of force that is used by militaries of the navy vessels that safeguard the area around the Gulf of Aden, when prosecute suspected pirates, is disproportional to the crime that takes place and as a result pirates are exposed to violations of their human rights standards. The fear of violating human rights obligations plays an important role when states prosecute suspected pirates, and in order nations to repress piracy without violating the human rights of the pirates, create many legal rules that leads to practical constraints, and other considerations that pull states in the opposite direction.^[1] The question that is raised is whether a tradeoff exists between prosecution of pirates and protecting and promoting human rights. This paper introduces the phenomenon of piracy, highlighting the state of insecurity in Somalia and how this insecurity boosts piracy. It also discusses the considered failure of the international legal system, and the potential human rights concerns in front of the regional courts. In addition, examines Kenya’s legal and systemic deficiencies as the main regional center for piracy prosecution and at the end offers an alternative approach to the problem.

Abstract: This research investigates the effectiveness and challenges of teaching phonetics and phonology to international students online. The study utilized a mixed-methods research design involving qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis. The study participants were international students enrolled in an online phonetics and phonology course. The information used for this research was collected through an online survey, including closed-ended and open-ended questions. The study found that online teaching of phonetics and phonology for international students was generally effective, with students reporting improved pronunciation and understanding of English sounds. However, the study also identified several challenges, including technical issues, lack of interaction with teachers and peers, and difficulty in self-motivation. The study provides implications for practice and recommendations for future research, including the need for teacher training and support for online teaching and the exploration of innovative ways to enhance engagement and interaction in online phonetics and phonology courses. In conclusion, this study contributes to the growing literature on online language teaching and learning. It highlights the potential benefits and challenges of this mode of instruction for foreign language learners.

This study focuses on the favorable and unfavorable factors of using the internet to instruct non-native speakers in phonetics and phonology. Both qualitative and quantitative methods of data collection and analysis were used in this study. Participants were non-native speakers taking a phonetics and phonology course online. The data was used to compile an online survey with closed- and open-ended questions. Students from outside the United States reported significant improvements in their knowledge and use of English phonetics and phonology after receiving instruction online. However, the research also revealed several difficulties, such as technical problems, a need for more interaction with teachers and peers, a need for more interaction with teachers and peers, and a need for more interaction with teachers and peers, and a struggle to motivate oneself. Implications for practice and suggestions for future research are provided, such as the enhancement of online phonetics and phonology course interaction and student engagement and the training and support of teachers in online teaching. This research adds to the growing literature on online language teaching and learning. It sheds light on the potential advantages and disadvantages of this approach for students of foreign languages.
