Abstract: The rising prevalence of mental health issues among students poses significant challenges in educational settings, highlighting the critical role of teachers in identifying and addressing these concerns. This study explores the preparedness of teachers to manage student mental health issues and evaluates the effectiveness of current training programs. Through a mixed-methods approach, including surveys, interviews, and case studies, the research examines teachers' perceptions of their training, its impact on student outcomes, and the additional resources required for effective intervention. Findings reveal that while some training programs are effective in enhancing teachers' ability to recognize and respond to mental health issues, many teachers still feel inadequately prepared. Key components of successful programs include comprehensive mental health education, practical intervention strategies, and ongoing support. The study also identifies a positive correlation between well-trained teachers and improved student engagement, behavior, and academic performance. However, significant gaps remain, necessitating enhanced training modules and additional support mechanisms. This research underscores the need for policymakers and educational institutions to prioritize comprehensive mental health training for teachers. By addressing these gaps, schools can better support student well-being and academic success, ultimately fostering a more inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Abstract: Cancer refers to any one of a large number of diseases characterized by the development of abnormal cells that divide uncontrollably and have the ability to infiltrate and destroy normal body tissue. Cancer disclosure is the process of informing patients and their family members about the cancer diagnosis, prognosis, treatment plan and possible side effects. Disclosing the diagnosis to patients and family contributes positively to the therapeutic process, but when poorly delivered, it can be a source of distress and anxiety, which has a negative impact on patient care. The purpose of this cross-sectional study was to assess the level of knowledge, attitude and current practices regarding cancer disclosure among physicians and residents at CHUK. The present study is based on ethical theory as the one that guide physicians to value the rules, outcomes of disclosure and the virtues that clinicians must possess. The results of this study would highlight the level of knowledge, the attitude and the current practices of physicians and residents regarding cancer disclosure in order to provide recommendations that will be used to improve patient health care. A purposive and census sample of 160 physicians and residents was considered, but only 141 respondents participated. Data was collected through distribution of self-administered questionnaire. Data was analyzed using Microsoft Office Excel 2013 software and the SPSS 21.0 statistical package. Descriptive and inferential statistics were run to address research questions. Descriptive statistics included frequencies and percentages and were computed to describe participants’ demographic characteristics and attributes. Inferential statistics was used to determine factors associated with practices regarding cancer diagnosis disclosure; and they comprised Chi-square, bivariate and multiple logistic regression analysis. Adjusted odds ratios were computed to examine the strength of the association of every risk factor to practices regarding cancer diagnosis disclosure. A p-value of ≤0.05 was considered as statistical significance. Results indicate that 22% of the participants had high level of knowledge and 78% of them had low level. A big proportion of the respondents (77%) agreed to the principles of the SPIKES protocol for braking bad news and 23% of them partially agreed. The current cancer diagnosis disclosure practices are poor; 47% of the participants have good practices and 53% of them have poor practices. Two variables were statistically significantly associated with cancer diagnosis disclosure practices; years of experience (AOR 2.5, 95% CI 1.43-8.85, p<0.05) and knowledge regarding cancer diagnosis disclosure (AOR 2.8, 95% CI 1.04-7.36, p<0.05). The level of knowledge regarding cancer diagnosis disclosure among physicians and residents practicing in CHUK was low. The majority of physicians and residents practicing at CHUK agreed with the principles of the SPIKES protocol for breaking bad news. The current cancer diagnosis disclosure practices were poor. To fill the gap in knowledge and practices, physicians and residents practicing at CHUK should be trained and updated about cancer diagnosis disclosure knowledge and skills.

Abstract: This paper assessed challenges and opportunities of community radio stations in Tanzania. Using secondary data sources from scholarly publications the research takes a qualitative and descriptive approach. Results show that community radio have been well accepted and are making inroads in enhancing access to information and stimulate social dialogue in rural communities. However, they are constrained by their small size, small, poor funding, and hostile operating environment.  Much of their perils could be addressed by deliberate policy intervention.

Abstract: The study focused on a model for the self-concept of teachers based on the relationships between interpersonal support, emotional intelligence, and self-efficacy. The objective was to understand how these variables interact to influence the self-concept of teachers. The study involved 1000 secondary public school teachers from different schools in Region XI, Philippines using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). Findings showed significant correlations between the endogenous variable, self-concept, and the following exogenous variables namely: interpersonal support, emotional intelligence, and self-efficacy. Further, Model 3 was the best-fit structural model in which all exogenous variables had a direct influence on the endogenous variable, self-concept. Through a series of structural modifications, Model 3 revealed that self-concept was defined by its three retained indicators namely: competence, acceptance of risk, and initiatives while the two retained indicators measured interpersonal support namely: principals and co-teachers. Emotional intelligence was described by its two remaining domains: self-regulation, and social skills. On the other hand, self-efficacy was assessed by its two retained elements, namely: managing students’ content and instructional practices and support. The findings of this study imply teachers adequate interpersonal support by providing them training on emotional intelligence and self-efficacy.

Abstract: The main goal of Anglican Development Services Eastern is to assist communities in attaining secure livelihoods that include enough food, clean drinking water, steady incomes, climate change resilience, eco-climate, and integrating child protection, disability, HIV/AIDS, and gender issues. A lot of the organization's projects face significant challenges related to time and financial management. Data indicates that among 45 food projects initiated by ADSE in Machakos County from 2018 to 2022, just 15% remain partially operational while the rest have ceased to exist and their whereabouts are unknown following the conclusion of the funding. About half of the projects in ADSE have short durations, become stagnant, fail to impact the community, and a few end up collapsing. Therefore, this study sought to investigate the influence of organizational culture on the performance of Anglican Development Services Eastern Projects in Machakos County, Kenya. This research was conducted using a descriptive research methodology. The focus of this research was 9 projects carried out by the Anglican Development Services Eastern in Machakos County, Kenya. The study had a participation of 54 respondents in total. A survey was conducted with 54 participants. The study utilized a questionnaire as the research tool for all participants. A pilot study involved 6 participants from the same company who were excluded from the main study to evaluate the research tool's reliability and validity. Quantitative data was assessed with descriptive statistics like average and standard deviation, and displayed in tables. Inferential statistics, like correlation analysis and multiple regressions, were utilized to establish the connection between variables. The research discovered that the organizational culture positively impacted the performance of Anglican Development Services Eastern projects in Machakos County, Kenya. The research findings concludes that the culture of an organization influences how its workplace is organized, leading individuals with similar skills and backgrounds to collaborate more efficiently on company projects. The research suggests that in order to enhance its culture, the organization must prioritize effective communication and the project managers need to actively listen to the thoughts and suggestions from all important stakeholders by promoting individual meetings with team members, so they can freely discuss sensitive issues in private.

Abstract: In this paper, the author proposes a comprehensive intervention for a 49-year-old Chinese man who has been diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD). The man received a conventional psychosomatic medical treatment in which he had been given drugs to treat his condition. Feeling unsatisfied with the treatment, he chose to transit to the psychodynamic model in which the model the underlying psychological factors contributing to his anxiety. Subsequently, his intervention integrates the innovative noo-somatic therapies, including Traditional Chinese Medicine and (TCM) and Aromatherapy with the aim of harmonizing his mind and body through holistic approaches. By combining these modalities, the intervention seeks to address the multifaceted nature GAD, thus fostering deeper understanding and more sustainable management of his anxiety symptoms.

Abstract: Vandalism poses a significant challenge for power transmission companies worldwide, affecting them through both direct and indirect costs. Kenya Power and Lighting Company Limited has suffered significant financial and revenue losses as a result of frequent vandalism of power equipment. Therefore, this study investigated the causes of vandalism of electricity power transmission equipment of Kenya Power & Lighting Company in Kiambu County, Kenya. The research utilized a descriptive research design to evaluate the issue of power equipment vandalism in Kiambu County. This research employed purposive and stratified random sampling methods in choosing 502 participants consisting of senior KPLC officials and county residents with business establishments. Questionnaires and key informant interview schedules were the study tools utilized to gather primary data. Published articles, journals, books, dissertations, and projects were the sources of secondary data used for collection. To ensure the research instruments were valid and reliable, pilot study and test-retest were conducted. Quantitative data was organized and inputted into Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software version 22 for analysis, while qualitative data was structured thematically and communicated through narration. One of the main discoveries in the study on vandalism's causes was the widespread demand for electricity power equipment by dishonest vendors, as well as the high levels of poverty and lack of employment among young people, which results in the theft of power equipment. The research concludes that there are multiple factors that lead to vandalism of electricity power transmission equipment, with the primary causes being oil leakage from the transformer, aluminum conductors, and copper windings. These factors impact different stakeholders in the power distribution system, such as businesses, the transmission company KPLC, and the entire country. The study recommends that Kenya Power and Lighting Company needs to engage the Critical Infrastructure Protection Unit (CIPU) to secure its critical facilities in vandalism-prone areas and prevent unauthorized access to transformer oil, aluminum conductors, and copper windings.

Abstract: The health sector in Kenya has been on turmoil for years orchestrated by inadequate focus on the sector by the relevant stakeholders. The projects in this sector are instrumental in steering it success. However, even after the devolution, the sector has seen minimal progress as key projects aimed at enhancing access to quality healthcare remain incomplete. Machakos County has also faced key challenges in its healthcare, as most of healthcare projects carried out remain incomplete. Therefore, this study investigated the influence of stakeholder identification on the performance of healthcare projects in Machakos County, Kenya. A descriptive method was employed, with emphasis on project managers of important healthcare projects in Machakos County. Machakos, chosen as one of the counties to pilot UHC, had the most beneficiaries. There was a focus on a total of 341 healthcare projects in the county. The projects were distributed in the 8 sub-counties, namely Machakos Town, Yattaa, Mavoko, Kangundo, Masinga, Matungulu, Kathiani, and Mwala sub-counties. A total of 184 participants were selected using a sampling formula. The participants were selected through a method called stratified random sampling, with the sub-counties serving as the different categories. A questionnaire was used to gather data, which was then analyzed using both qualitative and quantitative methods. By utilizing a descriptive approach, the study analyzed quantifiable data using SPSS. Furthermore, inferential analysis was used to examine statistical connections between predictor variables and predicted variables. The findings were displayed using both frequency tables and bar graphs. The research found that recognizing stakeholders as part of project stakeholder management practices greatly impacted the outcomes of healthcare projects in Machakos County. It was clear from the study that most healthcare projects surveyed did not effectively prioritize stakeholder identification by recognizing project stakeholders, analyzing them, and documenting their information. The research suggests that project managers and other leaders of healthcare projects in Machakos County must prioritize identifying key stakeholders linked to the projects, whether directly or indirectly, to understand their requirements and determine the most effective way to engage them in project implementation.

Abstract: Despite the vast deposit of natural resources and availability of cheap labour, Nigeria still wallows in the valley of economic backwardness. Up till this material time, researchers have not relevantly concentrated studies on addressing the Nigeria’s economic backwardness through global entrepreneurship. This is observed as a gap, and therefore trigger the interest to conceptually fill the gap. Literature were reviewed to extract extant submissions on the subject matter and the findings from this study revealed some of the lapses to be investigated. Firstly, it revealed that global entrepreneurship is at infancy stage begging for attention of researchers in Nigeria. Secondly, the study found that global entrepreneurship has the capacity to pull Nigeria as a country out of the valley of economic backwardness. Thirdly, the study concluded that global entrepreneurship serves as panacea to save Nigeria from the present state of economic backwardness. The recommendations that emanated from the study includes, creation of enabling environment by the government, even distribution of export -  free trade zones in the country and availability of business support facilities, such as access to credit facilities.

Abstract: The insurance sector is crucial in offering new ideas to address significant societal, financial, and ecological issues confronting the country. Even though the insurance sector plays a significant role in the economy of Kenya, the level of insurance coverage in the country is still minimal. The recent epidemic has impacted the insurance industry's performance, leading to losses for most companies and ongoing customer complaints. Therefore, the study sought to establish the effect of risk transfer strategy on the performance of selected insurance companies in Nairobi County, Kenya. This research utilized a descriptive research methodology. This study focused on 10 chosen insurance companies in Kenya as its target group. 856 employees from the risk management and compliance departments of the chosen insurance companies were the participants. Survey participants were grouped based on the companies they belong to. Participants were chosen from each group through the use of basic random sampling methods. The sample consists of 273 employees. Primary data was gathered using a partially structured questionnaire. An initial study with 28 participants was conducted. The research utilized content validity, criterion validity, and face validity to assess the specific connection between the assessment and its targeted measurement. A Cronbach's alpha analysis was conducted to assess the consistency of the Likert scale multiple choice questions. The research utilized both qualitative and quantitative data. Thematic analysis techniques were utilized to examine the qualitative data gathered from the open-ended inquiries. Quantitative data was analyzed using descriptive statistical methods like mean and standard deviation. The research carried out statistical analysis, such as correlation and regression, to assess the level of relationship among the variables. The research discovered that the implementation of a risk transfer strategy had a notable and beneficial impact on the overall performance of specific insurance companies operating within Nairobi County, Kenya. The research concludes that risk transfer aids insurance companies in lowering financial and operational risks, enhancing efficiency and productivity, boosting flexibility and adaptability, and fortifying relationships with partners or suppliers. The research suggests that insurance companies should thoroughly investigate and conduct background checks on partners or suppliers before forming any agreements.

Abstract: This study is focused on the challenges faced by event organizers as they adapt to new trends in hospitality management during the COVID-19 pandemic. It discusses the transformative impact of virtual event platforms and marking a significant shift in how event is organized and experienced. A 4-point likert scale is used in the research questionnaire to be answered by the study target respondents which is event management professionals managing events during the pandemic. With a total of 100 respondents the results show the respondents’ demographic profile in the terms of their age, gender, and length of service. The study also identified that the respondents influence of emerging trends and the intensity of challenges confronted in planning promotion, and preparation.

Abstract: Students are exposed to different sources of stress, especially during their college years. Stress can be detrimental to both the physical and psychological well-being of students. They are also at risk of experiencing mental health issues when exposed to prolonged periods of stress, especially those with limited coping strategies and poor support systems. With the increasing studies on the efficiency of mindfulness programs in improving individuals’ mental health, this study aims to determine the college students’ perceived benefits of mindfulness practices in managing stress. Participants in this study will be upperclassmen from the College of Science who will enroll in a non-academic course under Student Affairs Services. They will be asked to attend a 2-hour learning session mindfulness and will complete a reflection questionnaire, which will be the main source of the data collection.  This research intends to employ a qualitative approach in examining the participants' responses by analyzing recurring ideas in the data sets, generating initial codes, and identifying common themes. The result of this study aims to help school administrators and counselors design comprehensive and responsive mental health programs and services that will help students develop skills and effective strategies for managing stress and promoting mental health and well-being.

Abstract: Projects funded by donors play a crucial role in improving the availability of social services, especially for low-income households. However, the majority of the projects have not been able to sustain themselves, as an increase in project failures has been observed specifically when financial support from donors is withdrawn. This prompted the investigation into how project risk management affects the sustainability of donor funded projects in Nairobi County, Kenya. Therefore, this study sought to assess the influence of project risk identification on the sustainability of donor funded projects in Nairobi County, Kenya. This study utilized a descriptive research approach. The study specifically looked at project managers within the target population of 379 donor-funded projects in Nairobi County. By using a stratified random sampling technique, a total of 142 projects were selected based on different categories of donor-funded projects. The study gathered primary data from project managers using a structured questionnaire. The survey was conducted using a drop-and-pick method. The data collected was examined using both descriptive and inferential statistics. The study showed that identifying project risks had a significant impact on the sustainability of donor-funded projects in Nairobi County (β = 0.223; P= 0.007<0.05). The study found that poor sustainability of projects funded by donors in Nairobi County was strongly linked to a lack of effective adoption of project management elements such as identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring risks. It is advisable for the management team to prioritize risk management by accurately identifying, analyzing, and assessing risks, as well as implementing mitigation strategies and monitoring to improve and sustain donor-funded projects.
