Abstract: Before colonization, the Ekiti people had various indigenous technologies with which they were able to control their environment and give continuity to their existence and socio-cultural experiences. Their technological acquisitions, very evidently, were a manifestation of superb creativity that was entirely unique with the people. Contrary to some Eurocentric stereotyped views that the Europeans brought technological ideas to Africa, the Ekiti experience has proved this assertion wrong. This is because, prior to the coming of the Europeans, the Ekiti people had already developed their technology. For example, smelting, smithing, pottery and weaving technologies were some of the industries the Europeans met before some of these were made to acquire new faces. The aforementioned are what this paper wants to address.

Abstract: The colonial Ekiti was very rich in exportable commodities that enriched the colonial government through what was known as external trade; between the Ekiti people, the local businessmen, the middlemen, government and foreign nations, particularly Britain and the U.S.A. Two of the most lucrative export commodities were cocoa and palm produce like palm oil and palm kernel. Before colonization, cocoa had little economic value because of low external demand, mainly by few explorers in Nigeria who laboured to find foreign market for it. Palm produce was also mainly for local consumption, without the people really knowing its industrial and high economic value. However, during the colonial period, these products were aggressively sought after by foreign firms like John Holt, United African Company (UAC), G. B. Oliphant, A. G. Leventis and Perteson and Zochonis, among others. Trade in these commodities was controlled by agencies like the Nigeria Cocoa Marketing Board (NCMB) and the Nigeria Oil Palm Produce Marketing Board (NOPPMB). Cocoa and palm produce, in spite of the exploitative actions of the colonial government, made the economy of Ekiti very healthy and progressive.

Title: EXTERNAL TRADE IN COCOA AND PALM PRODUCE IN COLONIAL EKITI OF WESTERN NIGERIA

Abstract: While substantial research has taken place regarding Psychological Well-Being (PWB) and Quality Of Life (QOL), very few studies have taken place to study the effect of Demographic Variables such as gender, domicile and number of siblings on PWB and QOL. The following study was conducted on both Undergraduate and Postgraduate students (n=273) of Mysore by administering Ryff’s Psychological Well-Being Scale (middle version consisting of 54 items) and WHO-Quality of Life Scale BREF. The obtained data was analysed through One-Way ANOVA. It was found that children with 1 or 2 siblings had highest PWB and QOL. Urban students had higher Quality Of Life than rural students. Gender had no effect either on PWB or QOL. Research implications and significance for Mental Health Professionals throughout the globe conclude the article.

Abstract: Modernism as a creed, as a movement in the arts, was to use a phrase of Nietzsche. a means of “artistic taming of the horrible”. The horrifying decadence and the paltry creations of the arts were, in fact, the primary adversary of Modernism. As a movement, it attacked the prevalent notions in architecture, poetry, musical compositions, painting by not only creating a new and revolutionary path for itself but also by declaring superiority against prevalent authority. Matisse confesses, “I am paralyzed by some element of conventionality…that keeps me from expressing myself as I would like to do in paint.” This statement underlines two very integral features of Modernism: the principled self- study accompanied by the lure of heresy. Hence, Ezra Pound’s jaunty slogan ,”Make it New” makes the perfect creed for an era marked by the struggle to emerge from the clutches of traditionalism and embrace novelty in the arts.

Abstract: The bases of any research are adequacy of research proposal, research summary, research abstract and the research report. The quality of the research is estimated on the basis of research report. Research may be qualitative or quantitative. In every research area or subject, our knowledge is incomplete and problems are waiting to be solved .Research  increase our knowledge and understanding .Research is an attempt or an intentional act to discover the facts, revise the laws and theories or is a practical application of all these and research report is the key aspect of any research. A research report can be based on practical work, research by reading or a study of an organization or industrial/workplace situation. The body of research comprises of the introduction, aim of the study, hypothesis, variables, rationale/significance of the study, limitations, review of related literature, the sample, methods, tools and techniques, analysis and interpretation, results, conclusion and suggestions followed by the bibliography, and the appendices which include the tables, graphs and figures, if any including and the style of typing and many more things. It avoids the repetition of the problem and saves time, energy and money .This paper has offered an overview of, what research is importance of research, the stages involved in writing a research report. The aim of this paper is to help and motivate the researcher to conduct research to improve quality in education by presenting a systematic way to write a research report.

Abstract:  Talented employees are the greatest value for any organisation. In this competitive world companies are facing several challenges to retain the best employees and for that, Effective employee retention program is required to create and foster an environment that encourages employees to remain employed by having policies and practices in places that address their diverse needs. The success of any organization depends on how it attracts recruits, motivates, and retains its workforce. Quality of work life (QWL) installs in employees the feeling of security, pride, family, democracy, ownership, responsibility and flexibility. The private companies have to realise, creating Quality of work life balance among the employees is the best way to retain the talented employees. Mirvis and Lawler (1984) suggested that Quality of working life was associated with satisfaction with wages, hours and working conditions.  He described the “basic elements of a good quality of work life” such as safe work environment, equitable wages, equal employment opportunities and opportunities for advancement. Thus this paper aim to discuss on dimensions of Quality of Work Life and factors influencing quality of work life in private companies.

Abstract: China is a country experiencing severe water shortages. Remarkable population growth and incredible economy makes 70 percent of Country Rivers reservoirs polluted. The purpose of the present study is to review China’s environmental laws, regulations and policies with special focus on water pollution prevention and control, and also highlight the brief legislative structure of 2008 water pollution control law. In this report, this research analyzes the evolution process of environmental laws and regulations in China with special emphasis on water pollution control. The environmental legal system and environmental management organizations are illustrated. This paper also introduced major implementation measures for the enforcement of environmental laws and regulations focusing 2008 water pollution control law and future trend of China’s water pollution control.

Abstract: A sincere attempt has been made to elicit the unconsciously theistic voices in Jawaharlal Nehru’s monumental work THE DISCOVERY OF INDIA. Close perusal of the work has thrown light on the fact that the author has unconsciously slipped into theism not withstanding his refusal to accept the Creator as a mysterious force controlling human lives. His outright respect for the Vedas and Puranas has been perused umpteen times to arrive at this conclusion. It has emerged on close scrutiny that Nehru as a historian has an objective outlook about the Vedic history of the land. However, Nehru as a literature slips into subjectivity while expressing his awe and amazement at India’s Vedic history. The article elucidates the theistic voices heard in Nehru’s great work!

Abstract: India as a developing country is facing the problem of child labour and beggaring. In our routine life we see children begging outside the temples, on roadside etc. some of these forced to beg by the circumstances and some of these are kidnapped, here I want to discuss where India’s youth is standing. I only discuss here general things that we see always but always ignore it. There are many children that work at the houses .There are many children that work at the factories. So many people see them. Always ignored, it. Society is also equally to be blamed for these situations because the rich classes, just in order to show their richness distribute money among these people. Many of families in India unable to afford the basic necessities rich people gave them work. So, society has a major part in increasing child laboring and beggaring.

Abstract: The colonial Ekiti had well structured commercial activities through efficient market and trade experiences that were indigenous to Ekiti. A market was more than a venue for commercial transactions, because other social, political and religious activities, among others, were integral to market functions. Market days among the colonial Ekiti were periodic and there were many types of market which can be grouped generally under major and subsidiary. The Ekiti colonial market can also be broken down into shop market, premises market and farm market or roadside market; all of which positively affected the Ekiti economy. What made the market very commercially vibrant was also its organizational structure. Domestic trade by the market traders, shop keepers and off-market traders as well as long distance traders, all trading in foodstuffs, textiles, various domestic materials and kolanuts, among others, combined to bring economic stability to colonial Ekiti.

Abstract: India and Pakistan are immediate neighbours. They have a common history; there is close affinity in their culture. They should have the most cordial ties but their relations have remained unfriendly throughout. Despite of deep cultural, social, historical and geographical linkages, anomalous trends of active and passive conflicts between the two South Asian neighbours have effectively kept them alienated and apart. The two societies have by and large, followed mutually exclusive trajectories. Notwithstanding numerous run of the mill peace processes, alongside some very meaningful and robust peace initiatives, core issues sustaining the sour taste in bilateral relationship continue to remain unresolved. India has all along been keen to suggest cooling off measures however the response from Pakistan side has generally been not that welcoming. Today, more than sixty seven years after independence, the common people as well as the elite of India and Pakistan are concerning towards establishing condition for permanent peace. It is no secret now that India and Pakistan are nuclear capable powers. So, it is in India’s interest that democracy succeeds in Pakistan so that the dividend of democratic peace can be harvested in South Asia, because improving relations of both the nations is very important for sustaining peace in South Asia. This paper investigates India’s peace process with Pakistan and elucidates on the concept of a peace process and its spoilers in the context of India-Pakistan relations. The paper examines that the peace process which started in 2003 has had its twists and turns, but there has been a renewed energy since 2011. In this paper an attempt is made to examine the peace process between India and Pakistan during UPA government.
