Abstract: In today’s era of competition and survival we observe laxity in moral values. Industrialization has led to the emergence of high life style and raised the standard of living of people. It has made man rich in materialistic sense but deteriorated the ethical fiber in the society. People crave for money, power and pelf. They are ready to jeopardize the interest of other people in pursuit of their selfish gains. Corruption in religious, economic, social, educational field is rampant. We come across many social evils in the society. Children due to their exposure to mass-media are turning juvenile delinquents. Due to lack of values they adhere to whatever is shown in the TV and on net ruining their life. Family disorganization has made them astray. Parents are busy pursuing their careers and children are taken care by day care centers. Due to this value education is not imparted to these children. They become drug addicts, consume alcohol, gamble and enter into anti-social Activities. This is the present scenario which needs to undergo change in order to have a peaceful society. Teachers play an important role in infusing the knowledge of “Para Vidya” to make students aware of knowledge of our self; the knowledge of the supreme reality to keep oneself away from vices.

Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, our honorable president in his book “India2020: A Vision of the New Millennium’ has rightly remarked that “If you are a teacher in whatever capacity, you have a very special role to play because more than anybody else it is you who are shaping the future generation. A teacher has a higher responsibility as compared to other professionals as students look upon the teacher as an embodiment of perfection. Education has become a business today. This has changed the outlook of the students as well as the parents and it has further resulted in deterioration of respect for teachers and all those who are a part and parcel of education system. Gautama Buddha has rightly preached “Desire is the root cause of Evil”. Students are told not to fulfill their desires by improper ways, by adhering to immoral activities. The present paper is an attempt to state the importance of value education in the present education system so that the future generations will nourish high ideals and values to contribute in the development of the society and the role of a teacher in imparting values.

Abstract: Globalization means economic globalization of economy of a country and it exerts pressure on the government to become more publicly accountable, competitive and responsive to citizens. The UN document defines globalization as „increased and intensified flows between countries‟. In other words globalization not only sieves the network of inter-relations between countries that entail the dependency and resolutions of wide-variety of issues intensifying the interactions leading to common globalization objective. These flows are of goods, services, capital, ideas, information and people, which produce national cross-border integration of a number of economic, social and cultural activities. The primary objective of liberalization is to free from the restrictions on production, expansion and following of rigid rules and regulations. This paper attempts to examine the impact of globalization and liberalization on Indian administration and provide a framework for administration to circumvent the overbearing effect of globalization in their efforts towards industrialization, economic growth and development. The attempt has been made in this paper to analyze the impact of globalization and liberalization on different aspects of Indian administration and changes introduced at different levels in Indian administration owing to globalization and liberalization. The study is based on primary as well as on secondary data and it is of descriptive type.

Abstract: The demand for gender balance and elimination of all forms of discrimination against women has long been in existence in this country even before the 1995 women’s conference in Mexico. The 1995 Beijing conference aimed at eliminating all forms of discrimination against women in all sectors of societal existence. The 1995 Beijing conference brought the slogan “what men can do, women can do, and even do it better. The Global concern is women all over the world have long been relegated and underrated in decision making both in public and private sectors of the economy.  However, upon all measures such as the Affirmation Plan of Action, equal right granted each one in the 1992 constitution of Ghana as well as efforts of NGOs and women organisations to help bring on board women on equal pedestal with men in all decision making processes has still not yielded the needed result of the 30-40% women representation in decision making both at the national and the local level of which Tamale Metropolis is no exemption. The study sought to identify the various constraints serving as barriers to women participation in local governance. The study therefore revealed that, the problems confronting women participation in local governance include inadequate financial support, inadequate leadership position and men dominance over women.  In order to improve women participation in local governance, the study suggested that adequate support in terms of finance, women in local government reservation bill, capacity  building and intensify public education should be put in place and reinforced in order to achieve the desired 30-40% women representation in decision making. It is the researchers hope that, if the recommendation put forward by the study is well implemented, women participation in local governance will be improved in the near future.

Abstract: Acquisition of a second language in addition to one’s mother tongue has assumed a serious proportion in the recent years. Our existence in and exposure into the world of globalization brings in a myriad of possibilities of learning an important second language more specifically English. In such a situation, the L₁ learner needs some viable support to acquire the L_2.  This has become possible with the help of a linguistic tool called Contrastive Analysis (CA). This CA has been rendering a useful service in the field of acquiring a second language since 1950s. Robert Lado is the main proponent, who by identifying the areas of difficulty for language learners, has proposed that the CA can successfully help the native learners in the acquisition of a second language. It is generally agreed that mother tongue and the second language in spite of their differences at the surface level share a common core of experiences which are usually expressed through divergent structures. When a learner is exposed to the unfamiliar situations of the second language for the first time, he finds himself in a difficult situation and ultimately seeks the help of the rules of his own language for the understanding of the second language. However, in the course of doing so, he might make mistakes as long as he is unaware of the full nature of the differences between his mother tongue and the second language. ‘Interference’ or ‘the negative transfer of language habits’ of the mother tongue finally provides the knowledge of the similarities and the differences between the two languages and facilitates the teaching and learning of the second language. The second language acquisition becomes easier when the learner is exposed to a comparison of L1 and L2 in terms of their structures. In this work, efforts have been made to bring out the similarities and differences between the subordinate clauses of English and Odia with the help of Contrastive Analysis for easy acquisition of English as a Second Language.

Abstract: The need for education in the performance analysis of curriculum package is strong in both industrial and academic research environments. While both the industrial and academic environments share much of the same basic theory in this subject, there are two distinct paths for the resulting applications of this knowledge. The industry requirements are detailed, practical skills that can be used immediately, while the education provided by the academic institutions is more focused on basic theory and research skill development.  Student internships represent a unique, innovative, non-traditional educational approach based on experiential learning. Internships take students out into the community and the real world to internship sites for experiences in the field. Internships that are challenging and high-quality have proven to be an effective and efficacious approach that has many advantages and few disadvantages. Research has shown that there is a direct correlation between the internships in which students have served and the ultimate career paths which they select.

Abstract: Women empowerment is a process in which women challenge the existing norms and culture, to effectively promote their well being. The participation of women in Self Help Groups (SHGs) made a significant impact on their empowerment both in social and economical aspects. Women participation in Self Help Groups have obviously created tremendous impact upon the life pattern and style of poor women and have empowered them at various levels not only as individuals but also as members of the family members of the community and the society as whole .They come together for the purpose of solving their common problems through self-help and mutual help. This study addresses women empowerment through self help groups. The results of the study revealed that the SHGs have had greater impact on economic, social and political aspects of the beneficiaries.

Abstract: It is no doubt that, the economic relations between China and North African economies (Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia) are expanding rapidly in recent years as both an important trading partner and increasingly as an investor into the region. Few studies however have focused on the grasping of this trade and investment relationships. The main objective of this paper is to provide a brief overview of the nature of Chinese trade and foreign direct investment to date in North African countries through the available data. In order to achieve the objectives of the paper, the authors conducted a survey of China-North African trade and investment patterns across the region. In the light of the pool of literature and availability of data, the research relied on qualitative methods to analyze the composition of trade between China and North African countries. Results showed that China’s exports into North Africa countries have been far greater than its imports from the region, resulting in a large trade surplus in favor of China. The research clearly showed that many international Chinese companies invest in North Africa in many sectors ranging from cars, telecom, construction, electronics and financial services to oil and gas.

Abstract: This paper analyzes the process of producing digital editions of historical/cultural dictionaries as tools for knowledge preservation based on an interplay of production technologies (XML, Text Encoding Initiative), editorial practices (representation, annotation, metadata) and semantic taxonomies. It is fitting that this project is being launched by the Miguel de Benavides Library of the University of Santo Tomas after the resounding success of LUMINA PANDIT (Part I) last year, 2011, the year of the University’s quadricentennial celebration.  LUMINA PANDIT: An Exhibition of Historical Treasures, showcased the rarest items in the University’s archives section at the same time flaunted the significant role that UST played in the building of a nation with the first interactions of the Dominican missionaries with the natives of the land.  People from different walks of life took advantage of the exhibit which ran from January 2010 to March 2011.

Abstract: The research endeavours to investigate the nature and the extent of the emotional responses elicited to same colour, and music under two different outside environment temperatures called hot and mild. To analyse the emotional responses elicited to colour and music under hot and mild outside environment temperatures, data were collected from two clusters of sample where each consisted of 50 respondents. One cluster of sample represented customers of a supermarket where its outside environment temperature is hot and other cluster of the sample consisted of customers of a supermarket where its outside environment temperature is mild. The study found that when outside environment temperature changes, customers exhibit different emotional responses to same colour, and music. It was found that a warm colour, red produces positive emotional responses under mild outside environment temperature while in contrast, the same colour produces negative emotional responses under hot outside environment temperature. Moreover, it was recognized that fast-tempo music is capable of evoking positive emotional responses under mild outside environment temperature whilst evoking negative emotional responses under hot outside environment temperature. Ultimately, the results proved that the extent and the nature of the emotional responses elicited to same colour, and music are different between hot outside environment temperature and mild outside environment temperature. The Research provides interesting insights into the retailers by emphasizing the importance of development of colour, and music in line with the outside environment temperature as the outside environment temperature is beyond retailers’ control.

Abstract: Motivation is generally regarded as the drive to achieve targets and the process to maintain the drive. Motivation provides an important foundation to complete cognitive behaviour, such as planning, organization, decision-making, learning, and assessments. Yet there is little comparative evidence on the nature or generality of achievement motivation across these domains. This study was conducted on two groups comprising of 175 subjects each.  Three Hundred Fifty (N=350) male players of individual and team games aged between 20-25 years were further divided into two groups.

• Individual (i.e., Athletics, Weightlifting, Wrestling, Cycling and Boxing).
• Team games (i.e., Basketball, Volleyball, Handball, Football, Baseball).

Student’s t-test for independent data was used to assess the between-group differences and the data were further subjected to one way analysis of variance (ANOVA). The level of p≤0.05 was considered significant.

The results of the present study demonstrate that there are significant differences of individual and team game players in regard to achievement motivation.

In this paper I formulates certain principle that governs the shifting of air pollution from its source to various part of world so that the pollution and its consequences are equally distributed and try to see how less polluted nation suffer more than that of big pollutes,. The air pollution particles is tend to move from heavily polluted nations such as USA and China to less polluting nations such as Pakistan, Burma, Afghanistan etc in search of final resting place with the help of conductivity character of air movement and impose health and environment crises artificially .At the same time no particles of pollution travels from less to more to more polluted nation because of motion low of air. More people from less polluted, most of whom were malnutrition is often falling victims of air pollution other nation and put forth new demand for compensation to victim nations.

Abstract:  In this article, A Case study of Manipuri women and their social status in society are thoroughly analysed.  Women of Manipur today encounter social vulnerability in respect of domestic insecurity and varying degrees of deprivation in many respects. These issues lead to gender-related social exclusion and inequality which puts them in a disadvantageous position. This paper, therefore, attempts to look into some sensitive matters and bring into focus many factors that hinder the uplift of the status of Manipuri women in the present societal context.

Abstract: This preliminary study sought out to assess the efficacy of a yogic approach to serve as a coping strategy for reducing Music Performance Anxiety (MPA) on Rock musicians. This is a very unique study which focuses only on the Rock music population. This study measures the level of MPA on Indian Rock Musicians and checks the efficacy of the yogic approach (Cyclic Meditation) pre and post intervention. It also determines the level of state and trait anxiety level. High score on the assessment tools are considered as high level of MPA, and state anxiety. The result shows that the mean value of Kenny Music Performance Anxiety Inventory (KMPAI) was decreased indicating that with the increase in the sample size and intervention period in future study, it can obtain a significant result that Cyclic Meditation serves as a very effective coping strategy for reducing MPA on rock musicians.

Abstract: This study investigated customary land ownership and underdevelopment among the Acholi people of northern Uganda. It was conducted in the four Sub-Counties of Nam-Okora, Orom, Omiya-ayima, and Mucwini. The main tools for data collection were key informants’ interviews, observation and transect walks. The study population comprised members of parish land tribunals, local council chair persons, peasants and traditional leaders. The research revealed positive relationship between customary land ownership and underdevelopment in that underutilization of resources was encountered, low agricultural practices leading to food insecurity and famine, existence of land conflict and inability to access loans for development. The study recommends embracement of freehold land tenureship in northern Uganda.
