Abstract: Arundhati Roy burst onto the literary firmament in 1997 with her debut novel The God of Small Things and also won the prestigious Booker Prize the same year. A compelling tale of a pair of dizygotic twins and their mother at variance in a dystopian world that presages a deep darkness, her book is also a severe indictment of the way the world treats women. In the novel, Roy deals with issues that confront women at an everyday level: Issues like domestic violence, inheritance laws skewed heavily in favour of men, social taboos and sexual abuse. Roy has explored the overlapping and intricately braided lives of Ammu, her daughter Rahel, Mammachi, Baby Kochamma and their cook Kochu Maria particularly in relation to the dominant order that dictates their familial, social and cultural histories.
Keywords: Severe indictment, domestic violence, social taboos, sexual abuse, dominant order.

Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to investigate the key factors that positively effect on adoption of e-government in Cambodia. Study exams and the key factors that positively affect e-government adoption as the author constructs it in the research model. The primary and secondary data, the author uses both of them to complete the writing. Secondary data collects from journal articles, books, reports, conferences, and others. The primary data gathered up through the questionnaire with 1000 respondents from government officers, university officers, private organizations and citizens. The study found that the factors of research model (perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, job relevance, relative advantage, and perceived trust) are supported. The research is significant for government policy makers to develop a better understanding of the users’ need. This study suggests that government should enhance awareness of services, increase benefit of users and build up a confidential system. The study is one of few to investigate what effect users to adopt e-government in Cambodia.

Abstract: American women began their study of the stereotyped characterization of women in men's writing in 1960s. Mary Elman, in Thinking about Women (1968) discusses stereotypes of women in literature written by men and alternative and subversive points of view in some writings by women. But the more fierce attack on the male literary tradition was made by Kate Millett in Sexual Politics (1970). She explores how women are dehumanized in the novels of male writers like Henry Miller, Norman Mailer, Jean Genet and D. H. Lawrence. According to her, patriarchy is the sole cause of women's oppression where women are subordinated by the male, and they are assigned an inferior position. She argues that 'sex' is biologically determined but 'gender' is a psychological concept which is cultural identity.

Abstract: The Nigerian state became integrated into the global capitalist system as a dependent, neo-colonial and peripheral formation. The nature of its integration had implication for the character of its state and resultant economic crisis. The Nigerian economic crisis is explainable in terms of the vulnerability of its economy to external influences and the absence of production base. The recurring economic crisis, its nature and dimension, have engaged leftist scholars who largely critique the country's economic crisis as fall out of peripheral capitalist development. The left scholars and intellectuals equally pigeon hole the adoption of economic reform measures as prescribed by the Breton woods institutions. These economic reform agenda are critiqued as instruments of deepening dependency and peripheral ism in Nigeria. The article gives historical and analytic account of the roles of left scholars, left base trade unions, radical student movements and equally radical civil society organizations in organizing around and canvassing for alternative development paradigms for Nigeria. These development constructs are predicated on a leading and supervisory role for the state, economic democratization, people based development and developing local capital formation. The development alternatives are posed as viable frameworks to reduce the country's dependent status and secure its political and economic autonomy.

Abstract: All around the world, the man has been seen to dominate over the woman. This can be blamed by on colonial teachings as well as biblical teachings that dictate that the man is superior to the woman. Male dominated nations are said to be patriarchal societies. Patriarchy is defined by (Walby,1990) as a system of attitudes and structures which men hold power over women or patriarchy can be defined as males holding power over women, and subsequently creating structures that prevent women from accessing power or resources. (Kalabamu,2006) suggests that men obtain power from social norms within a given culture. Thus this paper views the absence of women in leadership in Developing and Developed nations comparing a country like South Africa to Kenya and many African countries as the reason for continued patriarchal systems and poverty among women. The paper will also highlight culture as the greatest hindrance to women leadership as well as highlight how the male takes charge in matters of education, economic resources and political status to gain power. This supports the conceptualization of patriarchy as a system ‘under which cultural norms and common laws defining men’s and women’s rights, privileges, status and duties are defined. This paper suggests that patriarchy in the form of attitudes and structures influence gender inequality and contribute to feminization of poverty. These structures and attitudes hinder women from participating in most aspects of society.

Abstract: Over the last 15 years around 22,000 men, women and children have drowned in the Mediterranean Sea. Majority of these people are fleeing from conflict and poverty mainly from the Middle East. Despite the vast migration of refugees to the European countries in search for better and safer environments very little has been done by the international community to save the situation. Thousands of migrants die in the process while others end up being subjected to harsh migration laws. In 2015 the total number of people that were subjected to death in attempt to reach Europe was about 2373. The International Community response in recent years to migration across the Mediterranean has focused largely on trying to prevent or discourage people attempting to make dangerous crossing. In reality, attempts to prevent crossing are likely to fail as this approach overlook the reasons people are willing to risk their lives to attempt several deadly sea passages. This paper looks at the challenges of the International Migration Crises and the ongoing suffering. It seeks to set out the problem of the international Migration crises and the causes of the migration. This work seeks to Challenge the United Nations to consider passing a resolution that all governments provide comprehensive responses, expand safe and legal channels of migration and act with humanity, compassion and in accordance with their international obligations. Advocating for the respectful and fair treatment of Migrants, and defend their access to procedures that guarantee basic rights enshrined in international law, albeit to help resolve this international migration crises.

Abstract: This paper examines the current issue of arson in Kenyan High schools through a review of similar cases in the recent past to shed some light on why it is a very crucial debate. Presently, there appears to be a ‘silent war’ between the Ministry of education and the different educational institutions over some of the new rules imposed in the educational sector which are argued as being the cause of the rising unrest in schools. The main objective of the paper is to give a brief synopsis of the conflict that is bound to arise out of this situation. The information in this paper would be vital in providing future information in how to resolve conflicts in Kenyan secondary schools.

Abstract: The study gives review of the concepts of broadcast media, type of community media and their roles, the media and the rural community. The research reveals the work which are relevant and findings were explained in relation to research questions, that is language barrier which is being used in dissemination of information. Communication is central to all human activities. The claim that we cannot communicate receive scholarly applause. However, there are people who seem to be neglected when we began to discuss communication and information flow. Those in the urban cities are always better informed to the detriment of the ruralities. The study tends to ascertain whether the rural community is given more media coverage compare to urban centre as in the case of Paramount FM and Mawuko village in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The study however suggests that, there should be reduction in using English language in dissemination of information which will be communicated to the rural communities. Journalists should visit the rural community. The broadcasting media house should create more time for enough educative programmes.

Abstract: Kenya’s government is obliged to cooperate fully with the ICC in investigations and prosecutions of crimes within its jurisdiction. The ICC does not have its own police force and so the cooperation of states is essential to the arrest and surrender of suspects. When a state fails to comply with a request to cooperate, the court may refer the matter to the Assembly of States Parties for further action (ICC article 112 Rome Statute, 2002). The assembly is made up of representatives of all states which are party to the Rome Statute, and acts as an oversight body for the (ICC Article 112 Rome Statute, 2002). However the intrigues in national and regional and international political circles, alliances in the international arena and theatrics in and out of the ICC seems to have ushered in an epoch of writing history, a new page in diplomacy and international relations among nation states. It is against this backdrop that this paper seeks to examine The effect of ICC Jurisdiction on National Interests in Kenya.

Abstract: Telecommunication, as gift of modern science is largely different from any other traditional infrastructure. From international market to domestic market, corporate communication to personnel communication, telecommunication is the prime way to maintain the continuous and instantaneous flow of sharing information. From business perspective of economic activities of modern world, through the communication channel telecommunication not only has significant influences over the economy in term of GDP per capita but also serve many people by creating job opportunities. Hence increasing employment rate may also another significant factor to enhance economic development. Investment in infrastructural development and earned revenue may have strong impact on the GDP per capita in an economy. As a result, for the potential role of the telecommunication, a modern world as well as economy without telecommunication cannot be thought for one moment. This paper is a devoted best effort to find the relationship between telecommunication and Bangladesh economic development. To analyze this context more extensively and reliably, this paper fundamentally focuses on the relationship between various variables under the construct of telecommunication and the economic development. To define this construct into more concrete way several multiple simpler variables are implemented such as teledensity, investment in telecommunication industry, revenue contribution percentage of GDP, GDP per capita, employment rate etc through OLS regression models associated with least square method. This paper indicates telecommunication industry has significant and positive impact over the economic development of Bangladesh.

Abstract: This article offers a critical investigation of the principles of democracy and their application in Eastern Africa countries; specifically looking at its effectiveness and the conflicts that have either been resolved or triggered by the introduction of democracy into their various governments over the last two decades. Using a reductionist model to draw our conclusions, and drawing on large-scale scholars’ opinion surveys, we argue that democracy as a form of government is not the solution Africa needs. Rather, democracy is an idealistic idea that exists theoretically but not in practical existence in Eastern Africa. However, we acknowledge the strides the democracy principles have contributed to the successes of African governments. We also come up with some recommendations that can be put in place to solve these problems such as Arms Proliferation and underdevelopment.

Abstract: This paper reviews the existing literature on the financing of armed rebel groups in the Democratic Republic of Congo, with a view of identifying potential sources of financing of these rebel groups that remain undocumented. Documented sources of armed rebel group financing discussed in this paper are pillage, proceeds from the sale of mineral resources, illegal wildlife trade, illegal taxation and foreign commercial interests which sustain these armed groups financially in exchange of protection of their interests in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This paper then raises the question of the role of Western countries (together with India and China) and the role of the United Nations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in as far as armed rebel group financing.
