Abstract: This article examines the foundations of youth radicalization, specifically the process by which individuals get cajoled into violent extremism. It seeks to establish what motivates them to join violent extremist group; the recruitment can either be voluntary or forced. It is during the early state of indoctrination that an individual crosses the threshold into violent action. The understanding of the process is crucial in discerning the full operation of terrorism and thereafter devising mitigation strategies.

The ontology and epistemology of this process is still misunderstood with researchers having developed a number of different theories and conceptual models that seek to explain the process. The theories have not been conclusively and empirically tested. The process is however, largely perceived to start with initial exposure through indoctrination, training, and then violent action. There is a general consensus, however, that many people who begin this process do not pass through all the stages and become terrorists. Many people who become extremists still stop short of the violence that is typical of militant jihadists.

This article shows how radicalizers take advantage of poverty, low level of education and perceived marginalization to lure the youth into joining radical groups, among them the Al-Shabaab, Mungiki (criminal gang in Kenya) and Mombasa Republican Council (MRC). In the Kenyan coast a number of youths have joined the radicalized groups. These youths are ready to indulge in violence this is has been depicted by how they have been forcibly removing the moderate sheikhs and Imams in the running of mosques and madrassas. This has gave room to heightened radicalization on Muslims.

Abstract: The appropriate emphasis of this paper is to examine “Living on the Street and the Challenges and prospect to secure their daily Subsistence in Urban Life of the Street Children in Kezira Dire Dawa”. The overall situation of street children living in Dire Dawa City Kezira Quarter would be evaluated to tackle their socio-economic and subsistence livelihood challenges and prospects. The researcher used both primary and secondary method of data collection, in which to collect primary sources interview, Focus Group Discussion and Observation were used. Interview was the most important tool to collect primary data in which collection was schedule with street children in the main street of Kezira, Dire Dawa. The interview was made with Key interview informants who were elders and other residents of the city in general and Kezira in particular. The other important tool of data collection was FGD in which about thirty participants in six groups. The children’s were advised to talk freely about their daily life in group. The observation was also important to view children’s life from the outsider view (etic view). Thus then, researcher made important observation in their daily life interaction in their natural setting. There were also secondary data sources in which the data obtained from written sources in which finally triangulated wit primary sources. The researcher used qualitative method of data analysis to investigate their daily subsistence life, and their socio-economic interaction. Therefore, this paper has exposed that the greater part of street children in the study area where to see fundamental factors such as pull factor and push factors have contributed for their streetism, but poverty which caused by environmental degradation, drought and famine was found to be the main push factors for children to move to the street who especially came from the rural surrounding adjacent areas of East Oromia, East Hararghe Zone Woredas. This study also further describe that street children livelihood in Kezira who were vulnerable to wide range of violations of their rights, and the children also made plenty of crimes in the city. The children’s were abused physically and sexually in which they develop the unconstructive outlook towards the society, in order to alleviate this social troubles of the children. Thus, so many children are still on the street of Kezira Quarter Street seemed to look for help. In this study the researcher tried to show valid efforts have to be made to evaluate the widespread problem of street children vulnerable life on the street of Kezira.

Abstract: This research is a descriptive character which generally aims to reveal the completeness of administrative documents Tutorial Stare Advances (TSA), tutors who served as a Tutor at UPBJJ-UT Makassar. The population in this research is Tutor who is assigned to perform the task of tutorial registration 2014.2 at UPBJJ-UT Makassar, as many as 302 people, as well as being a sample in research. In this research, analyzing the level of completeness of administration tutorial document face to face (TTM) Tutor registration period 2014.2, by using descriptive statistic that is percentage. Based on the results of data analysis using qualitative descriptive analysis obtained results: 1). Administrative completeness recapitulation value of tutorial 100% (complete), 2). Completed list of documents present student tutorials (complete 282 persons / 93.38%), (incomplete f: 20 / 6.62%), 3). Completeness of administrative documents RAT-SAT (complete, f: 276 persons / 91.40%), (incomplete f: 26 / 8.60%), 4). Completeness of administrative documents of meeting minutes of the tutorial, (complete: f 281 / 93.05%), (incomplete f / 21 / 6.95%). 5). Completeness of administrative document receipt of tutorial duty, complete (f (261) /86.42%), (incomplete f (41) / 13.58%. The participation of students in assessing the performance of tutors, for 1,889 people (37.20%), and non-participation of 3,189 people (62.80%) of 5,078 respondents.

Abstract: The theory is simply that we humans are all unique, independent with two elements to our being; the physical and non-physical.  Proof of the non-physical is creativity.  It exists, not defined or explained by science with no rules or boundaries established.  Rules and boundaries can be devised for our physical existence; intellect, instinct, memory, emotions and feelings, but not for creativity.  Why? Creativity is not a physical attribute to our existence during our being and is therefore non-physical in nature.  The same reasoning applies to love with the added note that love can dominate all other functions of the mind. The mind is where the two opposing elements interact and form the whole being.

Abstract: This study is a descriptive character which generally aims to describe the steps to implement an authentic assessment of the Curriculum 2013 on Economics subjects in high school with the formulation of the problem: how to implement the authentic assessment of the Curriculum 2013 on Economic subjects in high school? Based on the formulation of the problem then, the expected benefits are: (1) for the teacher, provide practical information about the form and instrument of authentic assessment as well as the steps to implement the authentic assessment of Curriculum 2013 on Economic subject in SMA; (2) for the education unit, providing additional information on authentic assessment to be used as reference in implementing authentic assessment in educational unit; (3) for school supervisors / madrasah, can be used as a reference in doing academic supervision of teachers in the target schools. Authentic assessment is a form of assessment that requires learners to display attitudes, using the knowledge and skills gained from learning in performing tasks in real situations. Authentic assessment includes attitude, knowledge, and skill assessment. Forms of attitude assessment include: (a) observation; (b) self-assessment; (c) peer assessment; and (d) journals, while the form of knowledge assessment includes; (a) written test; (b) observation of discussion, questioning, and conversation; and (c) assignment, while the skill assessment form includes: (a) performance; (b) project; (c) products; (d) portfolio; and (e) written tests. Steps to implement authentic assessment include; (1) planning that includes basic competence analysis, determining learning objectives, designing learning scenarios and determining the form and assessment instruments to be used; (2) implementation, that is carrying out the learning activities as well as performing an authentic assessment; (3) analysis or processing of value; and (4) reporting of assessment results.

Abstract: This study is an attempt to evaluate the condition of Mid-day meal scheme in Chatra district of Jharkhand. The major objective of this study is to understand the prevailing condition of mid-day meal scheme in Chatra district of Jharkhand. For this study, primary data was collected through Direct personal interview survey method. Different kind of sampling techniques were also used at different stages of the survey. There are 24 districts in the Jharkhand out of which Chatra was selected through purposive sampling for the reason that it best suited the researcher’s need of selecting a poor and backward district for the evaluation of the scheme. The selection of respondents was based on the quota sampling. Quota was provided in class, age and sex for respondents. The finding of the study reveals that overall performance of this scheme is satisfactory as the students enrolled in the schools are getting fresh meal of average quality along with sufficient quantity of meal. In all schools’ utensils were usually found neat and clean which showed hygienic awareness. Students too washes their hands before taking the meals. The workable kitchens in the schools were also found clean.

Abstract: The manufacturing firms in Kenya contribute greatly to the economic development of the country. Developments in ICT are creating possibilities for moderating risks along the supply chain by creating platforms for effective decision support tools. However, the performance of the manufacturing firms has been decreasing in the past few years due to information flow risks that affect their supply chain, thereby undermining the sectors ability to contribute to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and attainment of Kenya’s vision 2030. This study sought to investigate the moderating effect of ICT on information flow risks and performance among manufacturing firms in Kenya. Cross-sectional survey design was adopted as the research design for this study using both qualitative and quantitative approaches. The target population was 94 firms in Kiambu County, Kenya who were both members and potential members of the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM). The study used stratified random sampling to pick a sample size of 76 manufacturing firms which represented 12 industrial sectors in manufacturing firms. Data was collected using questionnaires. Descriptive statistics was used aided by Statistical Packages for Social Sciences version 21 to compute percentages of respondents’ answers. Inferential statistics using linear regression and correlation analysis was applied to assist examining relationship between the research variables. It was established that ICT used moderated the relationship between Information flow risks. Therefore, the study recommends that manufacturing firms should leverage on ICT use to enhance performance of their firms.

Abstract: This paper has explained the challenges of equivalence in language structure in the interpretation of discourses of actors in court cases in Kericho law courts, Kenya. The purpose of this paper is to compare the structure of English (SL) and Kiswahili (TL) languages and the challenges that the interpreter encounters while interpreting the discourses of the actors in the court cases. The observation method was employed where the researcher attended case proceedings to collect data for this purpose. Simple random and purposeful sampling was used to sample data of six discourses of case proceedings among many that were observed during the period of research. The interpreters, who were also court assistants, explained in the questionnaire that they did not have any pre-trainning in interpretation nor translation when they got employed, but some have received in-service courses pertaining to interpretation and have gained some experience in the everyday quest to interpret discourses of litigants in court proceedings. The equivalence theory of translation was used in analyzing the collected data qualitatively. It was discovered that the interpreters encountered challenges of equivalence due to the linguistic, grammatical and sociocultural rules of the structure of the source language and the target language. The interpreters had to make adaptations in their interpretation to communicate the message that was intended in the original text without having to follow the structure of the original text all the time.

Abstract:  Facial expression is a non verbal communication which affects organization performance. There are few Literature retrived studying facial expression in learning institutions in developing countries   The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between Principal facial expresson and the School performance. carried in public Secondary Schools in Narobi City County in Kenya.Hypothesis There is a significant relationship between School Principal’s Facial expression and Performance of County and Sub Sounty Public Secondary Schools in Nairobi City County. The method involved positivist’s reseach phylosophy, descriptive and cross section research design. 55 schools were used where 278 teachers were the respondece. Linear simple Regression analysis was used for data analysis. Result; One unit of Principal’s Facial Expression explained 40.4 % of the School performance. Conclusion; Organization managers should manage the facial expressions effectively to boost organization productivity.  Several studies on facial expressions rely on observer’s perception on the expressed facial looks.This can be a source of error and therefore more research should be done in different organization with different cultures.

Abstract: The objective of the study was to establish the moderating effect of principal’s personality on the relationship between principal’s facial expression and performance of public secondary school in Nairobi City County. Hypothesis: Principal’s Personality has a Moderating effect on the relationship between Principal’s Facial Expressions and Performance of County and Sub County Public Secondary Schools in Nairobi City County. Positivist research philosophy, descriptive and cross section research design were used. Proportional and random sampling design were used to collect the data from 278 teachers in 55 Secondary Schools. The result confirmed the hypothesis that; a unit of change of Principal’s Facial Expression explained75.2% of the variation of the School Performance, a unit change of Principal’s personality moderated 34%  of the relationship between Principal’s  Facial Expression and Secondary School Performance and a unit change of interaction factor influenced 18.9 % of the variation of the relationship. This study was in line with past literature, that manager’s personalities strengthen organization performance. In conclusion, leaders in learning institutions should be sensitive to role of leader’s facial expression and his/her personality in School Performance. More research should be done in different organization with different organization cultures.

Abstract: This study examined the dilemma of Nigerian economic development in historical perspective. It maintained that, the economic development of a society is vital for the welfare, and satisfaction of the needs of members of the society. However, post-colonial Nigeria appears to be at the economic crossroad and faces a dilemma of economic development. In that, since the decolonization of Nigeria in 1960, economic development efforts have suffered many setbacks. This paper held that although conceptualized development planning began in Nigeria during the colonial era in 1946; but that real economic development efforts in the country were undertaken after independence, since the colonial economic policies introduced by Britain were primarily for the satisfaction of British economic interest. In colonial Nigeria, British need for raw materials led to the introduction of new farm products, and a shift from the production of food crops to cash crops. Taxation was also introduced to encourage farmers to grow cash crops; and economic institutions and infrastructures provided to support the colonial economy of Nigeria. These economic developments aided the monetization and commercialization of the Nigerian economy during the period. However, the contact with the Western civilization exposed Nigeria to new models and perspectives of economic development; which this paper argued created the dilemma of what economic development path to take to achieve sustainable economic development. Hence, it concluded that, economic development efforts should be domesticated, and politically regulated, and not determined by government as the people remain the means and ends of development in any society.

Abstract: The Federal government of Nigeria established the Federal character policy as a measure to check the problem of employment distribution, inequality and marginalization as perceived in the civil service of the country. It is against this backdrop that the paper sought to conceptualize the relationship between the Federal character policy of employment equality and the employment distribution civil service of Nigeria. Secondary source of data collection was used for this paper, specifically scholarly journals, text books, articles, handbooks, governmental official document and dictionaries was consulted and used for this study. For the purpose of analyses the study adopts the content analysis of scholarly publications. The research discovered that the whole essence of the establishment of the Federal character policy as a measure for equitable distribution of governmental employment in the civil service of Nigeria created an admirable nexus between the civil service and federal character policy but more needs to done at the interpretation and implementation stage. Hence, this paper recommends a strict adherence to policy guidelines and massive orientation in order to guarantee better understanding that will ensure a more cordial relationship.

Abstract: The main purpose of this paper is to identify the factors that have contributed to the incidence of urban poverty in Kedah.  The study is based on the primary data. The survey was conducted in six districts involving 204 poor households. The units of analysis are the poor households with income below the level of the poverty line income. For urban poor households the poverty line income is RM 840. There are seven dimensions and 26 indicators used to determine the happiness among poor households by using logit regression analysis. The results of logit regression analysis showed that there were nine indicators that affect the poor households; there are gender, income, expenditure, saving, healthy life, rest, safety, community and government. As a result, this study focuses more comprehensively, including happiness aspects that are more subjective to identify the factors that have contributed to the incidence of urban poverty in Kedah. To achieve the eradication of poverty effectively, a comprehensive approach that is appropriate and should be done, so that the solution to the issue of poverty can be made as needed. Indirectly, this study is to realize the aspirations of the government through its strategy to improve the people’s happiness.

Abstract: This paper aims to explicate the metacognitive reading strategies employed by Libyan EFL learners. Data were gathered from forty female first year university learners, studying at Al-Asmariya Islamic University, Zliten, Libya using Metacognitive Awareness Reading Strategy Inventory (MARSI). The questionnaire was analyzed quantitatively using descriptive statistics which showed the level of metacognitive awareness on the three sub-scales: global reading strategies, problem-solving reading strategies and support reading strategies. Findings showed that there is a high level of metacognitive awareness for the problem solving strategy (M=3.50, SD=1.36) but only at medium level for both support strategy (M=3.25, SD=1.36) and global strategy (M=3.08, SD=1.26). The finding asserts the need of metacognitive reading strategy instruction in order to improve their metacognitive awareness, and these strategies will eventually help them to become skilled readers and to enhance their reading comprehension performance.

Abstract: This paper aims to explain the existence of madrasah in Indonesia as an effort to accommodate the growth and development of science and the increasing number of students. In addition, madrasah is also one form of institution that can improve the quality of education. Therefore, madrasah as an Islamic educational institution that exist in Indonesia, developed around the beginning of the 19th century. But in the implementation of education and teaching is still not have uniformity between one area with another, especially concerning. Madrasahs are the leading spearhead in the implementation of the Islamic education process. Madrasah as an educational institution that grows and develops from the tradition of religious education in society, has an important meaning so that its existence continues to be fought. The first Islamic Education Institution established in Indonesia is in the form of pesantren. With its distinctive character-oriented religious values, pesantren has been able to lay the foundations of a strong religious education. The santri are not only equipped with an understanding of the teachings of Islam but also the ability to spread and defend Islam. In addition, students are also equipped with a variety of skills that follow the development of science and technology.
