Abstract: The study of slums has been made on sociological, economic, cultural, political, ethic, demographic and economic basis. Slums are a building, a group of building or area characterized by over- crowding. Deterioration, in sanitary condition or absences of facilities or amenities, which because of these condition or any of them endangered the health, safety or morals of the inhabitants of the community. This is most comprehensive definition touching upon all the aspects of life of people living in slum. It is an area of substandard housing condition with in a city. Slum a highly populated area in which housing and other living condition are extremely poor. The phenomenon of slum is regarded as a challenge for the Chennai city of Tamil Nadu, Chennai is the fourth largest metropolis. It has a population of 46.81 lakh by 2011 census; it is expected to grow more by 50.08 lakh. This study was a special for given to drinking water supply system of slums of Chennai city with correlation analysis.

Abstract: Paper deals with the main reasons causing poverty and its negative social consequences for population. Poverty in post-soviet countries is compared to one in the EU countries and the differences in poverty measurement methodology are discussed. In One section authors discuss in details the poverty in Georgia and changes that occurred in its measurement methodology in last 10 years. In the paper current state of poverty is shown. In the last sections ways for overcoming of poverty are provided together with recommendations that government should follow in order to reduce poverty and increase standard of living in the country.

Abstract: This paper aims to provide a description of the role of Nurturant Leadership in an effort to improve the quality of school management. Leadership is a topic that will always be interesting to examine or review. Almost all studies of organization and management involve aspects of leadership. A school leader will determine how educational objectives can be realized so that the principal is required to continually improve the effectiveness of performance and satisfy institutional performance outcomes. The nurturant leadership model is a leadership model that mimics the character of a nurse who always nurtures, serves with patience and sincerity to his subordinates. Abstract: After the world witnessing financial crisis some people would definitely say growth has been elusive. But ‘elusive’ might not be the proper word to describe such a situation. The Asia-Pacific is booming with economic growth but will it sustain? And what about Africa and parts of the middle-east? Why hasn’t the region seen much of an economic growth? The society has come up with numerous answers to such questions but often forget to implement the solutions to them. Whatever the solution or solutions maybe they always tend to hover around two fundamental terms of modern day economics, ‘sustainable’ and ‘inclusive’.

Yes, rapid and steady growth has not been seen in most parts of the world rather growth has shaken the different economies of the world with surprising unprecedented shocks. Global GDP is hovering somewhere around 3.0-3.5% and the World Bank suggests a global growth rate below 3.0%.

The world seems to be running after growth, but the main question of concern is why can’t growth be sustained? Efforts have to be taken so that the highly sought-after factor ‘growth’ can be boosted and be used in each and every possible way to counter the slowdown of markets around the globe and ensure the whole of humanity is benefited.

This paper focuses on the importance of inclusive growth and how it can be achieved complemented by sustainable growth. The rush for economic growth has led to an increase in wealth for a large number of people all across the globe. Despite substantial increase in global economic output there is ample evidence that the different economic systems around the globe are boosting inequalities, rather than reducing them. The International Monetary Fund, suggests that substantial rise in income inequalities have led to both economic and social unrest.

Abstract: The economic cooperation between Kenya and China has strengthened since 2003. This is after Kenya’s historic political transition that brought to power the National Rainbow Coalition government headed by President Mwai Kibaki in December 2002. The new government proceeded to immediately formulate a national economic recovery plan and later on Kenya’s economic blue print vision 2030. Under the economic recovery plan of 2003 to 2007, the government prioritized infrastructure, financial sector, Agriculture, manufacturing and tourism as essential preconditions for sustainable economic and social development. To address the gaps in macroeconomic stability and long-term development strategies, Kenya turned to China to finance modernization of strategic sectors of economy hence cementing the political relations between the two states.

Abstract: It is worthy of note that the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes has been recognized in many regional treaties, bilateral and multilateral conventions, as well as, basic principle of international law, namely, right to development and right of self-determination. In recent years, ambiguity determining the scope of peaceful application of nuclear energy technology has been posed serious challenges to the international community. The Non-Nuclear Weapon States (NNWS) believe international conventions recognizes all forms of peaceful use of nuclear energy, while Nuclear Weapon States (NWS) discuss this inalienable right of State Parties to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes cannot include enrichment uranium, reprocessing and other sensitive nuclear fuel making activities.

Abstract: Terrorism should be considered as a nightmare of modern world. Historically, transportation systems have attracted terrorist attacks. The offence of unlawful interference against aviation security should be considered as a world's famous form of acts of terrorism in the world. Although human history has been accompanied with a large number of acts of terror and violence against international air navigation with various goals and motivations, but the current age is called as the age of terrorism because such intimidating phenomenon has a fundamental differences with its predecessor in terms of goals, motivation and geographical scope. In recent decades, the security of civil aviation has been threatened by new wave of terrorist attacks and other unlawful acts against commercial aviation with different motivation and purpose . For such reason, the strengthening of aviation security under auspices of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) against various forms of threats and offences have been one of the most challenging debates among politicians and legal commentators. This Article deals with approaches to strength the protection of aviation security under the ICAO auspices. It should be noted that the development of aviation-related security depends on compromising between what could be done and what needed to be done among states. It should be determined how the international society undertakes to adopt various forms of legal and technical measures in order to prosecute and punish severely the alleged offender and what should be done to improve existing international legal and regulatory regime concerning aviation security.

Abstract: Maternal health seeking behaviours in humanitarian and development prisms affect the children and their mothers immensely. Failure or delays in seeking proper health care for children in developing countries results to significant numbers of deaths attributed to high diarrhoea morbidity. The study examined patterns of health seeking behaviour of caregivers in prevention of diarrhoea morbidity. Statistics confirm higher diarrhoea morbidity in Nyanza twice the rate from Central Kenya in children under five despite a national decline from previous years. The study thus sought to explore health-seeking behaviour of caregivers of children under five years facing diarrhoea in Homabay County.

A descriptive cross sectional study design was used in the study. Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and Key Informants interview (KII) were employed as data collection instruments. A sample size of 384 households was used with 10% to account for non response was incorporated. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) Version 20 was used for the analysis of quantitative data. Qualitative data from both questionnaire and Key Informants interview guide were triangulated. Open-ended questions were also analysed through a quantitative content analysis. Chi square test with statistical significance set at α<0.05 was used to test relationship between categorical variables, odds ratio calculated at 95% confidence intervals (CI).

Delayed health seeking behaviour was evident from majority of the respondents (68.4%) who sought healthcare more than a day after the onset of diarrhoeal incidences. There was no significant relationship between knowledge of diarrhoea and awareness of the danger signs α = 0.31, 33.8%. Children experienced diarrhoea at a frequency of 3 episodes per day and 3-4 per day, ORS was used by 60% of the respondents, 39% used ORS + Zinc for treatment. Poor health-seeking behaviour was evident and the study attributed it to diminished finances, few health facilities and poor services in them. The study recommends enhanced community knowledge, better practices for identification and mitigation of danger signs to improve diarrheal management in children.

Abstract: In this study, the researcher has attempted to study the relationship, difference and the level of the teacher’s perception of the student’s motivation, different motivational strategies and the indicators of student’s academic achievements as seen in the Omani public school. The teacher’s perceptions regulated by the different reasons or causes which caused the lack of motivation amongst students, strategies used by the teachers and the various demographics like gender, class levels taught and their teaching experience. The schools selected from the Al Dakhelia Governorate, which is one of the 11 Governorates in Sultanate of Oman. Besides that, this survey correlational study used of (Hardre, 2008) teacher motivational perception (α=.75) and motivational Strategies (α=.84) questionnaires scores of Cronbach's Alpha. Pilot study have been conducted on 30 teachers which indicates scores of Cronbach's Alpha (α=.74).

The results of this study showed that there was a moderate perception of students lacking motivation level (M=3.29, SD=.327), high level of strategies they used (M=4.38, SD=.974) and moderate student academic motivation(M=66.29, SD7.11). There is a positive and significant relationship between teachers' perception of motivation and student academic achievements (Male; r=.607 p=<0.05), Female (r=.418 p=<0.05). Likewise, there was a positive and significant relationship between teachers' motivational strategies and student academic achievements (Male; r=.285 p=<0.05), Female (r=.333 p=<0.05) which indicated a Low correlation, definite but small level. Finally, there were no differences used independent t test; p-value and one way ANOVA used due to the normal distribution of teacher motivational strategies mean score of gender (t=1.35, p>0.05), class level (F=.103, p<0.05) and teaching experience (x^2=.681, p>0.05) in the study. In the Other hands, there were significant differences of teacher motivational perception based on gender (t=2.163, p<0.05), class level (F=3.928, p=.202).

The results of this study can be useful tools for the Omani school authorities, administrators, policymakers, and teacher educators for supporting the teachers in accurately developing student's motivations and motivational strategies for further students' academic achievements.

Abstract: The Prek Thnot Watershed is in danger of losing its protective role and ability to alleviate poverty due to the harmful activities it is facing. This paper was conducted to determine the link between poverty incidence, Forest Factors, and Non-Forest Factors, which could be a basis for policy implementation. All 49 communes in the Prek Thnot Watershed within Kompong Speu were involved. The Commune Database, Open Development Cambodia, and Google Earth were used to collect data for computing poverty incidence using a modified multidimensional poverty index; conducting a Sign Test; determining the spatial autocorrelation of poverty incidence, and the condition of communes in terms of Forest and Non-Forest Factors; and producing an OLS regression model. Interestingly, results showed that forest area reduces poverty incidence by 0.08 counts, whereas community-based natural resource management and infrastructure density raises poverty incidence by 0.38 and 0.51 counts, respectively. The effects of: forest area was attributed to the behavior that forest-based enterprises are situated in the Southeast but acquire their resources from the West; CBNRM indicates a problem on policy-implementation; and infrastructure density denotes that the abundant infrastructures in the East and Southeast failed to offset poverty due to the presence of several landless migrants situated in the same area. In conclusion, there is a need to properly implement forestry, land concession, and CBNRM policies; and provide training to farmers, business-owners, and prospecting entrepreneurs. However, applying these suggestions does not guarantee full effectiveness due to the presence of strong spatial autocorrelation of poverty incidence.

Abstract: The exhilaration and euphoria that heralded Nigeria’s return to democratic rule in 1999 have since been replaced by trepidation, disappointment and scepticism as a result of the pervasive nature of insecurity in the country. All across Nigeria, the explosion of lawlessness, chaos and destruction have entrenched a reign of anarchy. In the North, cross-border bandits and the fanatical sect (Boko Haram) have continued to operate with reckless impunity. The South-West and Eastern parts of the country continues to record gruesome incidents of mass armed robbery, kidnapping and extortion, clashes between farmers and pastoralists, while in the South-South, inter communal clashes, abduction and hostage taking, pipeline vandalization have continue to disrupt and paralyze economic activities, particularly in the oil-rich delta region. As a result of which the country is at present, gripped with deep-seated motion of indignation and resignation. Consequently, the climate of apprehension, fear and despair engendered by this situation has greatly undermined the potential for democracy, good governance and national development. The attendant implications have been exponential increase in the cost of governance, stunted economic growth and development, poverty, unemployment and refugee crisis. The need for people-centred governance, economic diversification and proactive intelligence gathering strategies were recommended as panaceas.

Title: A Nation on the Edge: Interrogating the Political Economy of Security Challenges in Nigeria

Abstract: The study of the history of first Delhi Durbar in 1876 had been neglected by the scholars because they could not find any sign of in it. They ruminated that the Durbar was only a Government event; it was a symbol of personal ambition of Lord Lytons. But recently, scholars started to focus on politically and culturally significance of the Durbar ceremony. Foremost, Julie F Codell in the “Power and Resistances: The Delhi Coronation Durbars 1877. 1903.1911” have described the political and cultural role of the three Durbars.  However, his aim was not trace to history of the three Durbars, as he explored photographs of the Durbars activities. As well as, he also explored historical and political events of the three Durbars.  Another, Wheeler J Talboys in “The History Imperial Assemblage at Delhi” cached all events of 1876 Durbar what happened in Delhi during Durbar ceremony. Marry Lytton wrote the biographies of Lord Lytton in which she has described the political significance of the Durbar ceremony but most of the events were dropped. All the Durbars were celebrated on the occasion of the coronation of English monarch or empress; Victoria (1837-1901) in 1877, Edward VII (1901-10) in 1903 and Georg V (1910-30) in 1911. Three Durbars ceremonies were associated with three Viceroys; Lord Lytton (1876-80), George Curzon (1899-1905), and Charls Harding (1910-16). ‘Each created a Durbar visual culture through which to express imperial politics and socio-political relation within India.’ (Codell Julie F., 18) First, two viceroys were most hated in India but third was less hated. Lytton followed a rigid administration policy which led to discontent among the Indian people. However, he was well familiar with the Indian problems but his policies did not like the people. Their reforms such as Indian Arms Act, Indian Press Act and half-hearted works in the relief of famine of 1876-77 add fuel in their unpopularity.  The press was divided on the Durbar ceremony; Indian newspapers were much active in his criticism.
