Abstract: This study assessed the prevalence of drug abuse among secondary school students in Yola Metropolis of Adamawa State, Nigeria. The specific objectives of the study were to; Identify causes of drug abuse; Examine effects of drug abuse; and also Identify factors influencing drug abuse; Primary data were collected from 389 randomly selected secondary school teachers using structured questionnaire. Data collected were analysed using descriptive statistics and Likert scale (mean analysis). Findings of the study revealed that family inadequacies and peer pressure are leading causes of drug abuse among students. Furthermore, the study revealed that drug abuse can adversely limit academic and social wellbeing of students leading to low performance, examination malpractice, and social vices among others. Therefore, the study recommended that there is the need for the government agencies responsible for limiting drug abuse to be proactive in performing their responsibilities.

Abstract: This study analysed the technical efficiency of Sole Cowpea Production in Ganye Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Nigeria. The specific objectives were to determine the technical relationship between inputs used and the resultant output and technical efficiency of farmers. Multistage sampling technique was adopted to collect primary data at random from 120 respondents. The data were analysed using the stochastic frontier production function. The result of the analysis shows that the sigma squared was 0.32 and significant at 1% level, indicating goodness of fit and correctness of the distributional form assumed for the composite error term. The variance ratio defined by gamma was 0.82 and significant at 1% level, suggesting that the existence of technical inefficiency among the farmers accounted for 82% variation in the output level of the farmers. Findings of this study indicated that there is scope to increased technical efficiency of sole-cowpea production by 16% in the short run since the mean technical efficiency (TE) of the farmers was estimated 0.84. The coefficient of farm size(X1), fertilizer (X2), seed (X3) and insecticide(X4) have the expected positive sign, except family labour and hired labour which have negative coefficient. The major constraints facing the farmers include pests and disease infestation, limited access to credit facilities and high cost of inputs.  Policy recommendations geared toward farmers’ education, access to farm inputs and credit facilities were preferred.

Abstract: The implementation of Language Policy is part of the sector of education around the world to support the mother tongue instruction in the early stage of a child’s education. With the adaptation of mother tongue based- education in the Philippines comes the challenges that will measure the program’s failure or success.

The Mother Tongue Based- Multilingual Education (MTB-MLE) is still a crux not only among the education sectors but also to the community. This particular research discussed the challenges encountered by the teachers in teaching mother tongue and its effect to the learning capabilities of students. This also served as an eye-opener and a platform for the program implementer. A relevant study that addressed the current struggles on the problems encountered in the implementation of MTB-MLE and a reference to gather insights for future study. This study particularly expected to present the challenges encountered by teachers in teaching mother tongue based-multilingual education, to determine which among the challenges encountered by Teachers has the greatest impact on the learning capabilities of the students, and present suitable and effective recommendations in addressing the challenges encountered by the teachers and learners.

This research intended the used of interviews and surveys as methods of collecting inputs from the respondents to verify which among the challenges has the greatest effect to students learning. Descriptive Analysis was used to analyse the data.

The findings of this research showed that Mother Tongue books and instructional materials have the highest points in terms of Mother Tongue Based- Multilingual Education challenges. Due to the rush implementation of the program, risk can result to failure. One of the identified risks is the lack of mother tongue teaching materials.

The researchers recommended that the Department of Education officials, school administrators and other implementing bodies must provide the schools with necessary learning materials and provide relevant trainings for teachers to address the needs of teachers in gaining knowledge and the mastery of teaching the subject mother tongue.

Abstract: Marana Karaka Sthana (MKS) is defined as death signifying house. Planets are expected to deliver their karakatwas /natural significations or results depending upon the sign they are placed in. If they are placed in a sign against their very fundamental nature, planets become uneasy or feels like in a death like situation and fails to contribute its results in such placements. A detailed analysis of shadbala, conjunctions, aspects etc. needs to be done before analyzing the planets placed in marana karaka sthana.

Abstract: Presently Chotanagpur is known as Jharkhand. The shankh (conch) river originates from the Gumla district of Jharkhand in India. In the pages of history, scholars have given different interpretations in different chronology about the shankh river. The shankh river flows opposite the northern koyal (cuckoo) in the western end of the Chotanagpur plateau. It originates from the southern end of the Pats region. From the historical point of view, when the Mughal emperor Jahangir had a keen interest in the hera (Diamond) being extracted from the conch river of Kokarah when Jharkhand was known as Kokarah, the Mughal emperor Jahangir had a keen interest in the way the locals got diamonds from the shankh river. He describes it in his autobiography Tuzuk e Jahangiri. The historical discussion related to Nagvanshi king Durjanshal and the then Mughal emperor Jahangir is related to the diamond itself. Some people were aware of this before the Mughal period about the diamond of King Jharkhand, Ptolemy has received evidence on this subject. It is described in one of his texts. Apart from this, many scholars have also discussed the diamond found in Jharkhand. The shankh river diamonds were also famous in India and outside India.

Abstract: A correlational study examined relationships between academic performance to students’ self-regulated learning strategies and conceptions of learning for 87 students from 4^th to 6^th graders. To know the students’ conceptions of learning and self-regulated learning strategies, Purdie and Hattie’s (2002) questionnaire and Motivated Learning Strategies Questionnaire that was developed by Pintrich, Smith, Garcia and Mckeachie (1991) were administered in elementary students of a private school in Manila. The students’ academic achievement was also measured. The results showed a significant relationship between academic performance to conceptions of learning and self-regulated learning strategies. All self-regulated learning strategies have an effect to the academic performance of the students, however it was revealed that “rehearsal” has the most influential factor to achieve better academic performance. Additionally, among different conceptions of learning, learning as remembering, using, and understanding affects the most students’ learning.

Abstract: This paper has made an attempt to study the Trend in urbanization in some of the important villages in Mysore taluk. There is a high level of change in the level of urbanization. Since 1951, we can see the upward movement of urbanization and on the other hand we can see the diminishing rate in the land utilized for agriculture. This is due to the importance given to the need for the urbanization. There will be expansions of urban areas both divergent from inside from the Mysore city and from outside from other taluks. Mysore taluk is developing fast towards western direction and it’s not up to the mark in the eastern direction. Selected important villages are taken into account in order to access the levels of Urbanization in Mysore taluk. The major objective of this paper is to access the trend in the levels of urbanization and driving factors responsible for urbanization. The paper also throws light on the current situation of urbanization in those selected villages.

Abstract: A local theatre presentation called Araquio, which unpopularly known as a remnant of “moro-moro komedya”, is considered to be one of the cultural influences on the religious-secular drama in the Philippines during the Spanish period. Along with this 130-year old practice is a cultural belief that is often associated with a religious tradition of the miraculous power of faith healing attested by its loyal devotees. With these unspoken ethnographic evidences from the devotees to prove its cultural authenticity to the public, this paper further explored the story of Araquio and its main parts to determine its cultural and religious practices. Consequently, this paper pressingly aimed to produce primary evidences from the devotees by tracing the authenticity of faith healing brought by Araquio. Making all these possible, this research used ethnographic method which is qualitative and exploratory in nature to record the testimonies of the people who experienced faith healing in Santo Tomas, Peñaranda, Nueva Ecija. It was accomplished through a participant-observation technique that is triangulated with interviews and informal conversations in the remote cultural area where Araquio takes place.  All things considered, results revealed that the main parts of the Araquio story is composed of seven chapters, and its traces of religious and cultural practices are the search for the Holy Cross, Pantot Dance, and Turn-over Ceremony. Findings also revealed that their devotees who performed the Araquio and became a personaje, never got terminally ill for the rest of their lives.

Abstract: This article addresses the consequence of domestic violence on the performance of Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) in the Lango Sub-region of Uganda.  At the front lines of this article, is the harsh reality that domestic violence imposes on children at home and in school hence poor PLE performance. Children exposed to physical domestic violence have more disciplinary problems at school as well poor performance in arithmetic and reading compared to other students. Victims of domestic violence have a negative relationship with their peers in school resulting to poor results and increased cases of indiscipline. Exposure to violence is associated with children’s cognitive development process since exposure to chronic abuse and violence leads to low scores, poorer language skills, decrement in visual- motor integrations skills and poor attention memory. The cognitive problems associated exposure to domestic violence encompass direct trends to the development task of school adaptation and academic achievements. Also, deficit attention, language skills, and poor memory undermine the child’s ability to accomplish the set requirements to academic achievements and school adaptation. Lango is no exception of this.

Abstract: Located in West China, Chengdu and Xian are two spatially close cities. Hence, their housing markets may move together due to similar macro-regulative policies, short geographical distance, and close trade ties. This paper aims to study the new home markets between Chengdu and Xian. Data were monthly house price indices over the period from January 2011 to August 2020. We tested for unit root using the ADF, PP tests, and the Perron test (Model C). Cointegration tests used the Engle-Granger and Johansen methods. We found no long-run relationships, which may be attributed to geographical barriers for a long period and typical climate difference. We estimated VARs. A uni-directional causal effect was suggested running from Xian to Chengdu. The short-run dynamics may help the development of a long-run connection. In the long run, home investors may gain from a home portfolio across these two cities.

Abstract: This study attempted to determine the factors affecting the Views of B’laan in attaining education in school division of General Santos City. And the attitude of B’laan Pupils in terms of Social. Economic, Psychological, Cultural and Environmental Specifically, this study will seek to find the answer to the following questions. (a) What is the sociological dimensions profile of B’laan pupils in terms of Economic Lifestyle, Demographic Lifestyle, and Social and Environmental Lifestyle? (b) What is the attitude towards the education of the B’laan pupils? (c) What are the dropout rates of the B’laan pupils when grouped according to their sociological dimensions? (c) What are the dropout rates of the B’laan pupils when grouped according to their attitude towards Education? (d)  Is there a significant relationship between the social dimensions, attitudes towards education and dropout rates?

On the basis of the foregoing result, the following conclusions were drawn: (a) The B’laan parents who low educational qualification particularly reaching only elementary levels had highest of dropout rates, (b) Attitude of the B’laan pupils may cause the further increase of dropout from school, (c) If physical characteristics of the area, like road condition, mode of transportation as well as health condition in the community if not improved it will increase the drop out of pupils. (d) Poverty or financial difficulties are the main reasons why B’laan pupils have no interest in going to school end even they drop out from school.

In view of the findings and subsequent conclusion in this study, the following are recommended: (a) Scholarship Grant must be given and livelihood programs must be conducted at their area, (b) Home visitations maybe conducted by the teacher to the pupils to prevent them from

dropping, ( c) More projects maybe introduced among parents to help them earn a living and be able to support their children (d) Home and school relationship maybe strengthened through parenting seminars ( e) Special educational programs maybe conducted among B’laan Pupils who dropped but wanted to go back to school and also to the adults.

Abstract: The general objective of this study was to analyze the role of transformational leadership on the implementation of a national government multi-agency project program in Kenya. The specific objectives were to examine the role of idealized influence and inspirational motivation and the moderating role of the legal framework on the implementation of digital literacy programs in Kenya. A descriptive and explorative research design was adopted as well as a positivism research philosophy. The target population of this study was 300 project managers in the program whereby Yamane’s formula (1967) was employed to determine the sample size to 171 project managers. The study used stratified random sampling; data was collected by the use of primary and secondary data. Secondary data was obtained from published reports and primary data was obtained by the use of semi-structured questionnaires to collect data. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS version 24) was used to analyze data. Inferential and descriptive statistics were deployed to analyze data. The hypotheses were tested at a 5% level of significance. The study found that there is a significant role of idealized influence on the implementation of a digital literacy program in Kenya. Also, there is a significant role of inspirational motivation on the implementation of a digital literacy program in Kenya. The study, therefore, recommends the need for leaders to adopt a more idealized influence form of leadership. There is also a need for a high level of support from team members who are more organized and detail-oriented so that they can help in maintaining transactional focus.

Abstract: The purpose of the study was to determine the influence of digital technologies on digital transformation in Kenya Airways. The study was guided by the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) and the Digital Maturity Model. The study employed the convergent parallel mixed methods design. The study targeted all the 410Management staff holding positions designated Grade H11 to H15 all the departments as of March 2020. The sampling was guided by Taro Yamane formula which yielded a sample size of 157 respondents. A questionnaire tool and an interview guide were used to collect data. Data was analysed using both descriptive and inferential statistics. The study found out that digital transformation process varied across the various departments and was therefore not harmonised across the entire organisation; cloud computing, website modernisation, journey maps and employee performance tracking initiatives were responsible for up to 77 % of the variations in the digital transformation of the organisation; and the use of customer journey maps and employee performance tracking impacted the most on digital transformation at Kenya Airways. The use of data and digital technologies to understand the customer needs behaviour and to develop responsive products had led to digital transformation at Kenya Airways. Recommendations were that the senior management at Kenya Airways pays more attention to two technologies namely, customer journey maps and employee performance tracking, for they were found to be the most impactful on digital transformation. Further research is suggested to identify other variables responsible for transforming organisations digitally.
