Abstract: The short stories “The Doll’s House,” “The Garden Party” and “A Cup of Tea” are written by Katherine Mansfield in the year 1922. This paper analyses these three short stories from a Marxist perspective by applying the theory of ideology as proposed by Karl Marx and Frederick Engels. The study takes a look into the oppression faced by the members of the lowerclass and the belief system of the upper-class. The Marxist approach questions the economic conditions and power and shows a battle between dominant and oppressed sections of society. The ideology that comes under Marxist theory shows the real economic conditions in any society and is the first key concept in Marxist theory. The short story “The Doll’s House” shows how the school-going children are involved in reinforcing their power over the oppressed and marginalized classes. In “The Garden Party” insensitivity is seen towards the lower-class members while in “A Cup of Tea” we see how Rosemary does things only to show that rich people aren’t heartless. Through all three stories we see how the system naturalizes and legitimizes unequal power distribution. The readers must acknowledge the fact that the members of lower classes face several difficulties and things still need to change.

Abstract: Public administration generally involves organizing men and material in view of achieving set goals geared towards the happiness of the masses. Nigeria as a nation since birth has deployed several systems of governance to power its administration, but failed to achieve this happiness in its citizens. The paper reviewed the present democratic system of governance in Nigeria as well as the practice of Religious Community Life system of the consecrated persons in the Catholic Church. This review resulted in generating a governance model involving features of both Democracy and Religious Community Life systems. To arrive at this model, the paper deployed data collection methodologies of book consultation, participatory observation and interviews. The paper nevertheless notes that in as much as the efficacy of this model is guaranteed if deployed, leaders as well as the entire masses must equally brace up for absolute disciplined life and frugality in spending. The paper strongly argues that with this mixed systems of Religious Community Life and Democracy in place as administrative model for Nigeria, insecurity, unemployment, non salary payment that causes incessant strike action by workers, corruption of all kinds will give way to rapid development of the nation and happiness of the citizenry, which constitute the default goal of any administration.

Abstract: This paper outlines how technology affects English learning as a second language. Modern technology has become an integral part of the language learning process, within and outside the classroom. It has been applied to improve students' learning experiences and help teachers facilitate language learning. The goal of this essay is to (1) understand how various forms of technology and software have been used over time to support English as a second language (ESL) learning and (2) detail how technology can enhance English language skills (writing, reading, listening, speaking) acquisition. The paper further explores the potential benefits and pitfalls of integrating technology into ESL teaching and learning. It finally ends with certain recommendations, particularly for judicious and balanced use of technology to achieve the desired ESL teaching and learning outcomes.

Abstract: This study determined the level of acceptability of “Innovated Product on Fish Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) Dumplings and its Cost Analysis.” This study sought to answer for the level of acceptability of the Tilapia Dumplings on appearance, color, aroma, flavor, and taste according to the three cooking methods: deep-frying, steaming, and baking. Moreover, the significant difference in the level of acceptability on appearance, color, aroma, flavor, and taste when grouped according to the cooking method, the one which has the highest level of acceptability is also considered, and the cost-analysis of the innovated product. This study made use of the experimental method of research, including the sampling scheme, sensory evaluation, acceptability of the products by the consumers according to varied cooking methods and its potential for copreneurship with stakeholders. The study showed that the respondents rated the Tilapia Dumplings “like moderately” based on the food attributes in the three cooking methods; The data showed that there is a significant difference in aroma, and a highly significant difference in terms of appearance and flavor. The result further showed that steaming had a higher mean score than frying. Deep frying the dumpling also resulted to difference in color as compared to steaming. In terms of appearance, the dumpling in deep frying gained higher mean score. This is because the dumpling that is deep-fried is intact and properly wrapped. While in steamed dumpling has the tendency to swag. Considering the previous results, the difference is not significant. Based on the results, it shows that the tilapia cooked in different cooking method is acceptable to the evaluators and consumers. It can be sold as deep fried, while it can also be sold in steamed. Based on the results of the study, it is further recommended that food innovators use the Tilapia in Dumplings as an alternative to other fishes and that local Food Producers & Entrepreneurs may consider the Tilapia Dumplings as a good source of income since the fish is abundant in the local market.

Abstract: Leadership wrangles and corruption have negatively affected the performance of various firms in Kenya. This has led to losses in Kenya Airways. Therefore, this study sought to investigate the influence of intellectual stimulation on the performance of Kenya Airways. The research design used in this study is a descriptive research method. The study target population was Kenya Airways Limited and the respondents were the employees of Kenya Airways. The respondents were sampled using proportionate sampling method and selected using simple random sampling technique. Open and closed structured questionnaires were used for data collection. Descriptive statistics were used in analyzing quantitative data. In addition, multiple regressions were used in establishing the relationships between variables. The inspired drive to produce a positive and significant change in Kenya Airways performance was 0.478 units in the presence of one unit of increased intellectual stimulation while keeping all other factors constant. The impact of intellectual stimulation on employee productivity shows that the company management provides an environment for innovation, employees' creativity is encouraged by top management and employees are able to make independent decisions. The study recommended that in order to enhance intellectual stimulation, company management should provide an environment conducive to innovation, encourage employee creativity, and allow employees to make independent decisions to improve performance, empower employees, and educate employees.

Abstracts: This study was pursued to investigate the influence of organization culture on the performance of Seventh-day Adventists Educational Institutions in Kilimanjaro Region. The study adopted quantitative approach using descriptive survey and correlational designs. The targeted population for this study was the employees working in five (5) Seventh-day Adventist educations institutions in Kilimanjaro region. The five Seventh-day Adventist educations institutions have a total of 196 working staff, both teaching and non-teaching staffs from whom a sample of 132 staffs were sampled using simple random sampling technique. Data were collected through self-administered close ended questionnaires and the analysis of the collected data was done through Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS. V.26) software and they were interpreted descriptively. The findings reported a positive and significant relationship between group culture and performance of the institutions, similar relationship was also found to exist between adhocracy culture and performance of the institutions. On the other hand, the findings reported insignificant relationship between hierarchical and market cultures and performance of these Seventh-day Adventist Educational Institutions in Kilimanjaro Region. Such findings imply that, group and adhocracy cultures have positive and significant effect on performance of the Seventh-day Adventist Educational Institutions, while hierarchical and market organization cultures have no significant effect on the performance of these Seventh-day Adventist Educational Institutions. The study recommends for adoptions of group and adhocracy organization cultures as they positively contribute to the performance of the Seventh-day Adventist Educational Institutions. The study further recommended for dropping out hierarchical and market organization cultures since they have no significant effect on the performance of these Seventh-day Adventist Educational Institutions.

Abstract: This paper analyzes Toni Morrison’s debut novel The Bluest Eye with the theory of New Historicism. From the perspective of “text history”, the novel reproduces the plight of African Americans and participates in the reconstruction of history. From the perspective of “historical textuality”, the novel deconstructs the official discourse, and shows the unique black culture to regain the voice of black people in the state of aphasia. The politically-oriented new historicism opens a fresh viewpoint to understand American society.

Abstract: Indian and Chinese economies are growing rapidly among Asian countries due to economic reforms. The prime objective of this study was to compare and analyse the economic status of both countries. This comparative study was conducted using a descriptive method from secondary sources of data. The study showed that China put greater focus on infrastructure development, removing tariff and non-tariff barriers, development of skilled labour, cost-effectiveness, and speedy decision-making ability. On the other hand, India's focal point was the service sector like the IT sector. The study also indicated that India had better financial, political, and legal practices as compared to China.

Abstract: The growing number of serious scandals and other anomalies affecting businesses, hospitals, and educational institutions is a direct result of the fact that interior controls are sometimes nonexistent or completely ineffective in these institutions. The Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital is the second-largest unrestricted referral hospital in the nation, after Kenyatta National Hospital. Being a public hospital, it receives enormous resources in the form of medical tools, pharmaceutical supplies, hospital infrastructure, and money, among other things. Being a public institution, this hospital has long been plagued by concerns about the potential exploitation of its resources, including the possibility of financial theft. Therefore, this study sought to investigate the influence of financial information reporting on performance of Kenyatta National Hospital in Kenya. A descriptive research design was employed. The unit of analysis was Kenyatta National Hospital. The respondents were 80 employees who were obtained from the finance/Accounting Department, HRM Personnel/ Department, ICT department and other staff. A census of 80 employees was done since the size of the sample population is small. Data collection was done using questionnaires. 8 questionnaires were piloted with respondents from the Kenyatta National Hospital and were not involved in the final research. Content validity was applied in this study to test the validity of the questionnaire. Determination of reliability was done using a test-retest technique. Descriptive statistics using mean and standard deviation were used in describing data in quantitative nature. The inferential analysis was applied in determining the level of association between variables by using correlation analysis and regressions analysis. The study found that that financial information reporting had a significant influence on financial performance of Kenyatta National Hospital in Kenya. The study arrived into a conclusion that the hospital had laid down proper measures in accessing data electronically, the records are properly maintained and data properly updated. The study recommended that the hospital should transparently consolidate information on financial reporting tools while providing guidance on the options best suited to different user roles and needs.

Abstract: The success of an organization depends on human resources as the main component that drives and gives direction to the organization. The achievement of a goal is usually influenced by various factors that are directly or indirectly related to the operating framework of the organization, especially work culture. Therefore, this study was conducted to identify the factors that still influence the work performance of staff in Kabupaten Nunukan based on the empowerment of work culture. Using quantitative methods (questionnaires), a total of 300 respondents were involved consisting of the Aparatur Sipil Negara (ASN). Correlation analysis shows that commitment, work discipline and work motivation are correlated with work performance. Therefore, it is hoped that this study can describe the real situation of ASN in improving job performance. ASNs are an important stage in governance as they act as intermediaries on behalf of superiors and subordinates. Strategic policies can be formulated so that the service delivery system by the government of Kabupaten Nunukan is at an optimal level in line with the vision of the Republic of Indonesia which is "terwujudnya Indonesia maju yang berdaulat, mandiri, dan berkepribadian berdasarkan gotong royong".

Abstract: Financial Literacy has been recognized as a critical skill for individuals who are embedded in an increasingly complex financial scenario. Financial Literacy helps individuals make more assertive and efficient decisions in the monetary context of their lives. This paper measures individuals' financial literacy level and analyses the relationship and impact between financial Literacy and financial behaviour. The research results show that individuals have a reasonable level of financial Literacy. On analyzing the financial behaviour of individuals, it was found most of them exhibited moderately positive financial behaviour. It is also observed that financial Literacy can enhance people's skills and abilities to make more informed choices and ultimately lead to a positive financial behaviour. Thus one can conclude that increasing the level of financial education stimulates wise economic behaviour.

Abstract: The study analyzed the influence of financial facilities on women economic empowerment in Sumbawanga district. The study applied survey research design using quantitative approach. The target population were women aged above 25 years of age in Sumbawanga District Council. The respondents of the study were selected using simple random sampling technique. Data were collected using questionnaire. The reliability of the questionnaire was tested using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient. Validity was determined using expert judgement. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics by applying average mean scores. The findings of the study revealed that financial facilities influence economic empowerment of women. Based on the study it was recommended that, women empowerment activists and governments should strive to empower women through promoting access to financial facilities in order to enable women access sources of capital for businesses start-ups and be able to sustain their families. The study further recommends future researchers to research other factors that determine economic empowerment other than financial factors in Sumbawanga district council.

Abstract: Loneliness is a phenomenon commonly associated with old age because of the changes that occur with this population in their social relationships both qualitatively and quantitatively. This phenomenon is widely perceived as one of the major problems of later life. Therefore, the main objective of this study is to investigate the prevalence and associated risk factors of loneliness among older adults at Mathira West, Sub-County, Kenya. The sample size of 299 older adults in this study was calculated using Yamane’s formula, the confidence level of 95%, the margin error of 5%, and the 1169 population. Quantitative data was collected from old adults aged 55-60 years, in which frequency of male respondents was higher (174, 58.2%) as opposed to female older adults (125, 41.8%). Results from this study showed the prevalence of moderate loneliness at 27.4% and severe or clinical loneliness at 14.4%. Similarly, findings from PLUM ordinal regression indicated that older adults aged 66-70 years (p=0.000), and aged 71-75 years (p=0.000), were at risk of clinical loneliness. Further, male respondents (p=0.000), single parents (p=0.000), separated or divorced (p=0.000), perceived financially poor (p=0.041), were found to be significantly at risk of clinical loneliness. Moreover, findings from the ordinal regression revealed that respondents who live alone (p=0.000), respondents who use mobile phone frequently (p=0.000), were found to be at risk of clinical loneliness. Conclusively, the results from this study were stimulating, and it has raised several topics for further research that will require intervention research because the 27.4% prevalence of loneliness among the older adults cannot be ignored.

Abstract: Integration of theology and psychology to understand human behavior is crucial to offer holistic help and support in maintaining mental health of Church members. Both psychology and theology provide functional worldviews through which we can study and understand human behavior. This perspective study is a web-based qualitative survey, aimed at seeking opinion of seminarians and clergies on integration of pastoral counselling ministry and clinical psychology in meeting mental health needs of Church members. Data was collected from 36 respondents using google form. These respondents are seminarians (15, 41.7%), Church pastors (11, 30.6%), pastors but not pastoring yet (5, 13.9%), and seminary lecturers (5, 13.9%). Data collected was analyzed thematically. Key themes that emerged from the study showed that seminary training on preaching, biblical preaching and church administration is inadequate for holistic ministry. This is because, many of Church members were having several mental health conditions, which the Church pastors are not trained to tackle. Instead, most pastors result into praying and counseling members having mental conditions with Bible truth, while some make referral to the professionals. This study concludes that seminary where pastors are being trained might consider including courses in clinical psychology for holistic ministry.
