Abstract: Despite several attempts to improve service delivery, the Kenyan Ministry of Health remains inefficient due to a lack of effective strategic change management. The Ministry of Health's performance in Nairobi City County, Kenya is affected by strategic change management. This research sought to analyze that impact. Social network theory, human capital theory, and resource-based views served as the study's guiding theoretical frameworks. A descriptive survey was research tool used in this study. 159 medical practitioners working in NCC, Kenya, focused of the research, which was conducted by the Ministry of Health. In order to choose the respondents, a basic random sampling procedure was used. A total of eighty individuals made the sample. The utilization of surveys allows for the collection of first-hand information. Thirteen questionnaires were sent to individuals working in the Ministry of Health within the Government of Machakos County as part of the pilot study. This is the reason why the researcher had to choose the Ministry of Health in Machakos County. When it comes to qualitative data, content analysis was used for analysis, and narratives was used for presentation. Quantitative data, including standard deviation and mean, were included in the descriptive analysis, which was shown in tables and figures. To further understand the interplay between the variables, the researcher used multiple regressions. The research discovered a positive and statistically significant relationship between performance and continuous improvement. Spending on employee education and growth is directly proportional to a company's bottom line. Results showed that improved unit communication did not affect organizational performance. Technology adoption significantly affected organizational performance, according to regression coefficients. Continuous improvement improves performance by eliminating inefficiencies, simplifying processes, and using resources more efficiently. Employees need training and development to improve their knowledge, skills, and competences, which lead to the company's success. Communication is vital to an organization's dynamics, yet it may not have had the greatest impact on the performance outcomes considered. For stakeholder satisfaction, modern organizations must continually adjust every department to increase performance. Other data suggest that modern businesses should continually modify all parts to succeed. The research advises the Ministry of Health to assess its communication channels, methodologies, and technology for strengths, weaknesses, and gaps.

Abstract: This study aims to analyze the impact of poverty levels and employment opportunities on regional zakat revenue. Utilizing panel data from eight districts in the southwestern region of Aceh province, the analytical model employed is panel regression. The research reveals that employment opportunities have a positive and significant effect on zakat revenue. Conversely, poverty levels do not have a significant impact. These findings imply that local government efforts in the southwestern region of Aceh can be directed towards policy interventions focused on increasing employment opportunities.

Abstract: To generate revenue for public initiatives, governments impose taxes on properties, individuals, and the profits of business entities. In Kenya, the manufacturing sector plays a vital role in the national economy, supplying essential services and products to larger corporations. However, recent data from the World Bank indicates a concerning trend of stagnation and declining profits among large-scale manufacturers over the past five years, primarily due to a challenging business climate. The sector's contribution to the GDP fell from 9.6 percent in 2018 to 9.2 percent in 2019, while its growth rate decreased from 3.4 percent in 2018 to 3.1 percent in 2019. These adverse developments can be linked to rising production costs, intense competition from imported products, high credit costs, drought conditions in the first quarter of 2016, and uncertainties related to the 2017 general elections. Despite these obstacles, the manufacturing sector possesses considerable, yet underutilized potential for enhancing both employment opportunities and GDP growth. Nevertheless, the sector's average growth rate has remained stagnant at approximately three to four percent over the years. Therefore, this study sought to investigate the effect of standard rate adjustment reforms on the financial performance of manufacturing companies in Nairobi City County, Kenya. This research utilized a cross-sectional methodology characterized by a descriptive survey design. The focus was on 40 manufacturing companies located in Nairobi, with the objective of surveying 600 employees from finance departments. A stratified sampling method was employed, followed by simple random sampling, which yielded a final sample of 240 participants. Primary data were gathered through questionnaires, while secondary data were sourced from the audited financial statements of the firms. A pre-test was carried out at two unrelated fast-food outlets. The questionnaires were designed to align with the research objectives, and their reliability was evaluated using Cronbach's Alpha. Descriptive statistics were applied to analyze the quantitative data, while correlation and multiple regression analyses were utilized for inferential statistics. The findings indicated that reforms related to standard rate adjustments, positively and significantly influenced the financial performance of manufacturing firms in Nairobi City County. The study concludes that modifications in corporate tax rates, value-added tax, and other levies can have a direct effect on the profitability of manufacturing enterprises. The research suggests that organizations ought to conduct regular workshops aimed at informing stakeholders, such as business owners, employees, and policymakers, regarding the consequences of rate changes.

Abstract: This study investigated the effect of strategic planning practices on the organizational performance of air cargo handling companies in Kenya, focusing on NAS Siginon Aviation Ltd in Nairobi. The specific objectives included examining the effect of environmental scanning and strategy formulation. The research was motivated by the evolving global environment, characterized by unpredictability, globalization, intense competition, changing customer needs, and technological advancements. It was anticipated that the results of this research would provide insightful advice to scholars working in the fields of company efficiency and airfreight, serving as a foundation for further investigation and evaluation. The study was underpinned by the theory of planned behavior, complemented by the Resource-Based View and contingency theory. The investigation targeted a population of 122, and the researcher used a census to select the sample since the population was manageable. Data collection involved questionnaires, with a pilot study of 6 randomly chosen employees of Swissport Kenya Ltd. Quantitative data analysis employed basic statistics, presenting results through tables and charts, while inferential statistics were applied to determine the correlations between the variables. Throughout the research process, ethical guidelines were strictly adhered to. The study found that strategic planning procedures under study notably impacted the organizational productivity of Kenyan air cargo handling enterprises, particularly NAS Siginon Aviation Ltd., with environmental scanning leading to a 36.7% improvement. The report suggests cargo handling organizations regularly train staff on environmental variables to improve performance and reduce environmental instability by detecting risks and opportunities and adjusting to changing market conditions. Research suggests cargo handling businesses should involve all stakeholders in strategy development to align with their vision and purpose, enhancing performance by defining objectives and policies. The study suggests that freight handling organizations should establish a strategic planning office, align staff competencies with strategic goals, encourage collaborative planning, and ensure effective communication for improved performance. Lastly, the researcher recommends future studies on scenario planning to prepare for uncertainties, strategic alliances to explore partnership impacts, and change management to improve handling of organizational transitions.

Abstract: Project delays and budget overruns frequently occur due to the failure to identify and manage potential risks. Inadequate information and poor project management often result in cost escalations, delays in completion, and sometimes even project terminations before their completion. Therefore, this study sought to investigate the effect of project initiation on the performance of slum upgrading projects in Nairobi City County, Kenya. A descriptive research design was adopted for the study. The target population comprised 11 slum upgrading projects within Nairobi City County, with 100 respondents, including 10 project managers and 90 project team members. A census of all 100 respondents was conducted. Questionnaires were used as the primary data collection tool and were pre-tested on 10 respondents to ensure clarity. Content validity was ensured to confirm the appropriateness of the questions, while reliability was tested using Cronbach's alpha. Quantitative data was analyzed through descriptive statistics such as mean and standard deviation, while inferential statistics employed correlation and multiple regression analysis. The results were presented in tables. The findings indicate that effective project initiation is crucial for establishing clear objectives and engaging stakeholders, thereby laying a solid foundation for project success. To enhance project initiation practices, it is recommended that organizations invest in training and capacity building for project managers and stakeholders.

Abstract: This research examines the socioeconomic characteristics of ECOWAS migrants in Nigeria. Based on a survey of 462 migrants across four locations, the study provides insights into origins, demographics, employment, income, remittance patterns, and integration challenges faced by this population. The analysis reveals that many migrants come from neighboring countries of Benin, Niger and Togo, benefiting from geographic proximity and shared cultural ties. The majority are young, with 89.83% arriving at or below age 30. The unemployment rate among migrants is 7.1%, lower than the national average; however, many work in the informal sector. While many earn above the minimum wage, educational attainment remains low, with a notable predominance of males reflecting societal pressures. The study explores family dynamics, noting that many migrants are married but live apart from their children, often returning home after achieving stability. Despite their economic contributions, migrants encounter challenges related to legal status, housing, and social integration. Many maintain strong transnational ties, with 80.30% sending remittances to support families back home. The findings highlight the importance of social networks in supporting migrants but also point to integration challenges exacerbated by economic pressures. While many migrants express a willingness to return home, barriers such as high travel costs and ongoing instability in their countries hinder this desire. The study underscores the need for policies that address the legal and social integration of ECOWAS migrants, facilitating access to information and services, and promoting broader socioeconomic inclusion, contributing to the understanding of migration dynamics in the region.

Abstract: Safaricom Public Limited Company has embarked on the implementation of open-source technology within its information technology systems in order to facilitate advancements in the execution of its strategic initiatives. Nevertheless, open source adoption for enterprise is relatively low within its Digital IT department and therefore the company is not fully harnessing the immense benefits that come with the adoption and use of open source software. Therefore, this study sought to investigate the influence of technological context on the growth of Safaricom Public Limited Company, Kenya. A descriptive design was employed, involving 679 participants from the Digital IT department of Safaricom PLC in Nairobi, Kenya. Random sampling resulted in a final sample of 252 individuals. The process of collecting data was aided by use of a questionnaire. A pilot test with 25 questionnaires validated the tool, and those participants were excluded from the final analysis. The reliability of the questionnaire was assessed through the split-half technique, alongside evaluations for content, construct, and criterion validity to confirm the questionnaire's accuracy. The analysis of qualitative data was structured around the identification and narrative presentation of themes. To ascertain the significance of every variable, inferential statistics like multiple regressions and correlation analyses were employed. The study revealed that there exists a positive significant relationship between technological context and the growth of Safaricom Public Limited Company in Kenya. The study concludes that the rapid advancement of technology has enabled Safaricom to enhance its service delivery and operational efficiency. The study recommends that Safaricom should organize regular workshops and seminars to educate employees, developers, and stakeholders about the benefits of open-source software.

Abstract: Alcohol abuse poses a significant public health challenge globally, leading to various social, economic, and health issues. There is a growing trend of individuals seeking rehabilitation services, highlighting the urgent need to address alcohol dependence. Research indicates that alcohol dependence often coexists with mental illnesses, including borderline personality disorder (BPD). However, there is limited information on the prevalence of BPD among patients undergoing alcohol rehabilitation in Rwanda. This study aims to assess the prevalence and impact of BPD among patients in rehabilitation at Nyamagabe Rehabilitation Center in Rwanda. It seeks to provide insights for policymakers, clinicians, and researchers to better understand the connection between BPD and alcohol abuse. Utilizing a mixed-methods design, the study incorporates both quantitative and qualitative approaches. The target population consists of 310 patients, with a sample size of 175 selected through systematic random sampling. To determine the prevalence of BPD among patients with alcohol abuse, descriptive statistics were employed to analyze frequencies and percentages. The relationship between BPD symptoms and alcohol consumption was assessed using the Pearson correlation coefficient through the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS V. 28). Additionally, thematic analysis was conducted on semi-structured interviews to explore the challenges faced by health providers in treating BPD and alcohol abuse and to gather recommendations for improving treatment outcomes. The results revealed a significant prevalence of BPD symptoms among the respondents. Notably, 76.0% reported unstable relationships characterized by frequent arguments or breakups, and 74.3% admitted to self-harming behaviors or suicide attempts, indicating severe emotional distress. Impulsivity, a hallmark of BPD, was observed in 76.0% of participants, contributing to dysfunctional coping strategies such as binge eating and excessive drinking. Emotional instability affected 79.4% of patients, with 82.9% reporting frequent anger, complicating their interpersonal relationships. High percentages of distrust (90.3%), derealization (85.1%), and chronic feelings of emptiness (88.8%) were also noted. Furthermore, 86.9% of respondents lacked a clear sense of identity, and 91.4% expressed a desperate fear of abandonment. Bivariate analysis showed a significant positive correlation between BPD symptoms and alcohol consumption frequency (r=.214, p=.004), as well as the average daily intake (r=.189, p=.017). The analysis also indicated links between impulsive behaviors, such as excessive drinking (r=.190, p=.012), drinking six or more drinks during periods of extreme moodiness (r=.153, p=.043), and an inability to stop drinking once started (r=.155, p=.045). Thematic analysis of interviews revealed that therapeutic resistance in BPD patients, driven by trust issues and emotional instability, complicates treatment and increases relapse rates. The study recommends specialized interventions to address these challenges and reduce relapse rates among patients with dual diagnoses of BPD and alcohol abuse.

Abstract: This study examined sociotherapy's impact on trauma-related mental health recovery in Nyamagabe District, Rwanda, focusing on trust-building, active listening, and conflict resolution. The mixed-methods study included 176 participants, 156 of whom engaged in sociotherapy, with 20 serving as community dialogue facilitators (CDFs). Quantitative data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed to assess correlations between intervention components and recovery outcomes. Qualitative data from CDFs underwent thematic analysis to reveal deeper insights. Findings showed significant mental health improvements, with 57.1% of participants reporting strong positive effects and 30.8% experiencing extreme benefits. Statistical analysis highlighted trust-building as the most impactful component (F-value = 14.234, p < 0.001), followed by active listening and conflict resolution. CDF insights underscored empathy’s role in creating a safe space for trauma disclosure and how collaborative conflict resolution fostered community cohesion. Overall, sociotherapy was confirmed as effective in supporting trauma recovery and community healing, particularly by fostering reconciliation between survivors and perpetrators. Recommendations for future interventions include strengthening trust-building activities and refining conflict resolution methods. Future research should explore sociotherapy’s long-term effects and cultural relevance, advocating for community-based mental health strategies.

Abstract: This study investigates the impact of NGO interventions, particularly those by the African Evangelistic Enterprise (AEE), on the socio-economic development of youths in Rwanda. The primary objective is to assess how these interventions contribute to youth development through three specific areas: educational programs, financial empowerment, and vocational training. Employing a descriptive research design, the study targeted a population of 192 beneficiaries and AEE staff, from which a sample of 130 participants was selected using simple random sampling. Data were collected through a combination of questionnaires and interviews, designed to gather both quantitative and qualitative insights. The reliability of the data collection tools was verified using Cronbach’s alpha, and the data were analyzed using SPSS software. Findings revealed that AEE’s educational interventions had a significant positive effect on socio-economic development, with an overall mean score of 4.438, indicating strong agreement among respondents. The relationship between these educational programs and youth development was statistically significant (r = 0.883). Financial empowerment interventions also showed significant influence, with a mean score of 4.333 and a relationship coefficient of 0.928. Vocational training programs, with a mean score of 4.272, similarly demonstrated a strong positive relationship (r = 0.940). The study concludes that NGO interventions play a crucial role in fostering socio-economic development among Rwandan youth. Recommendations include expanding AEE’s programs nationwide to enhance their impact and align with Rwanda's sustainable development goals. Additionally, the researcher suggests further studies to explore the effects of digital literacy and technology-based training on employability and to investigate barriers preventing marginalized groups from accessing these interventions, thereby promoting greater inclusivity in socio-economic development efforts.

Abstract: This study evaluates the impact of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) tools on the performance of funded social development projects in Rwanda, specifically focusing on the Joint Program Rural Women Economic Empowerment (JP RWEE) phase one project across Nyaruguru, Ngoma, and Kirehe Districts. The research aims to assess the effects of the logical framework, work breakdown structure, and critical path method, with staff attitude as an intervening variable. Utilizing a descriptive survey design, a sample of 92 respondents was determined from a population of 1,093, ensuring a 10% margin of error. Data was collected through self-administered structured questionnaires and interviews, achieving a 100% response rate, predominantly from female participants (79%). Findings indicate that M&E tools significantly influence project performance, with mean scores reflecting positive impacts: logical framework (4.06), work breakdown structure (4.04), critical path method (3.93), and staff attitude (3.94). Statistical analysis revealed strong positive correlations, particularly highlighting the logical framework's influence. The study concludes that effective M&E tools enhance project outcomes by improving planning and implementation. Recommendations include regular training for project managers, active engagement in M&E processes, and the adoption of digital tools. These findings are pertinent for UN agencies, policymakers, and NGOs, with suggestions for future research on staff attitudes, technology integration, and stakeholder engagement. Overall, the study underscores the critical role of M&E tools in enhancing the performance and sustainability of social development projects in Rwanda.

Abstract: A project is considered successful when it achieves its objectives, adheres to established criteria, meets deadlines, and remains within the allocated budget of the organization. The utilization of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) methods has enhanced collaborative learning among stakeholders, increased productivity, and built capacity, all aimed at applying the insights gained to modify organizational policies and procedures. Therefore, this study sought to investigate the influence of budgetary allocation on the performance of NG-CDF projects within Nyaribari Masaba Constituency. The research utilized a descriptive research design. The focus population consisted of NG-CDF projects within the Nyaribari Masaba Constituency, with a total of 2,376 respondents. This group included monitoring and evaluation teams from various organizations, members of the CDF committee, the general public, elected officials, government representatives, and religious leaders. To obtain a representative sample, the researchers applied a stratified sampling method, while the selection of respondents was carried out through simple random sampling. The final sample comprised 342 individuals, and primary data was gathered using questionnaires. A pilot study was conducted with 34 respondents to evaluate the study's procedures. To ensure the validity of the research, measures of content validity, criterion validity, and face validity were employed. Reliability was determined through the Cronbach's alpha test. For data analysis, descriptive statistical methods, including mean and standard deviation, were utilized to interpret the quantitative data. Additionally, inferential analyses, such as correlation and regression analyses, were performed. The results were illustrated through tables and figures. The research indicated a positive influence of budget allocation on the performance of NG-CDF projects within the Nyaribari Masaba Constituency. The findings suggest that adequate financial resources are accessible for the monitoring and evaluation of these projects, along with a sufficient workforce committed to this endeavor. The study suggests that the budget for monitoring and evaluation should be clearly specified within the project budget to acknowledge its crucial role in ensuring successful project execution.

Abstract: The rapid advancement of digital technologies has significantly impacted university-level music education, transforming traditional teaching methods into more dynamic, interactive, and student-centered approaches. This paper explores the role of technology-enhanced learning (TEL) in university music programs, focusing on how digital tools such as virtual instruments, music production software, and online platforms are reshaping instructional practices and learning experiences. By integrating digital resources, educators can support personalized learning paths, facilitate remote collaborations, and provide students with hands-on experiences that mirror real-world industry practices. However, the incorporation of technology also brings challenges, including access disparities, technical proficiency requirements, and the need to balance digital and traditional learning methods. This paper assesses the benefits and challenges of TEL in music education, offering insights into its impact on student engagement, skill development, and professional readiness. Through a combination of literature review, case studies, and qualitative data, this study aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of TEL’s effectiveness in enhancing music education at the university level and suggests recommendations for future integration strategies.
