Abstract: Communities of practice are characterized by social association where employees share acquired knowledge. Organizations are increasingly providing Communities of Practice with resources to improve the exchange and flow of knowledge and information. The objective of the study seeks to establish the influence of communities of practice on the performance of universities in Kenya. The analysis showed a correlation coefficient of a 0.307 and a coefficient of determination R square (R2) of 0.1554 at a 0.05 significance level. The study concluded that there was a significant relationship between communities of practice and performance of universities. The study recommends that university management should support the communities of practice in order to improve performance of universities.
