Abstract: This paper reports a pilot study that explores the different perspectives on “Like”, “Comment” and SELFie behaviour among young adults and suggests the necessity need to encourage people to have authentic identities in real time with real people. The study relies on data collected through Semi-structured Interview from a small group of social media users from Kerala. The collected data were thematically coded and analyzed quantitatively. The findings and suggestions derived from this study may open new avenue for understanding and the phenomenon of social media engagement in the present context.
