Abstract: The significance of ideological and political education to college students cannot be overstated in today's dynamic world. This abstract examines the vital role of ideological and political education in shaping the leadership qualities of college students, with a specific focus on the Yimeng Spirit as an illustrative example. Ideological and political education provides a framework for students to understand the values, ethics, and social responsibilities that underpin effective leadership. The Yimeng Spirit, deeply rooted in Chinese history, embodies enduring principles of resilience, unity, sacrifice, and community. By taking the Yimeng Spirit as an example, this research explores how ideological and political education can be a catalyst for cultivating college students' leadership qualities. Through a comprehensive analysis of curricular and extracurricular activities, this study examines the impact of integrating the Yimeng Spirit into educational programs. It investigates how such integration enhances students' leadership competencies, promoting qualities like selflessness, adaptability, and a strong sense of responsibility towards society. This article highlights the potential of using the Yimeng Spirit as a teaching model to impart essential leadership skills and values. It underlines the importance of ideological and political education in preparing college students to address contemporary global challenges while upholding their cultural heritage, fostering the development of leaders who are not only competent but also deeply connected to their roots and committed to the betterment of society.
