Abstract: In today’s Security Mechanism Authentication plays a vital role. Well known text-based password authentication systems that have various flaws in terms of is security and usability issues which in turn create problems to users .This lead to emergence of an alternative mechanism to overcome these drawbacks. Rather than typing textual characters, graphical passwords involves dragging or clicking on the pictures, are considered as alternative to prevent the problems that arise from textual passwords. In this paper, a comparative study of the Knowledge based system is performed specifying the pros and cons of each of them .We have also specified various usability and security features for further research perspectives in this area.
